Introducing our easy to install surface mount detector New from CP Electronics is the EBDSM, our energy saving surface mount presence detector. Perfect for simple attachment when flush mounting is not possible, this versatile unit is self contained and installs effortlessly via a back plate. Utilising passive infrared (PIR) detection, the EBDSM detector monitors the zone, switching on when occupancy is detected, or off when the area is vacated following a preset time. If there is sufficient natural light, a built-in photocell will keep the lighting switched off. A manual on/off override function is available via an optional infrared handset. The EBDSM has no external control boxes, dramatically reducing installation time. Three models are available: premium (PRM), direct dim (DD), and analogue dim (AD) all of which will control a wide range of luminaires. The direct dim variant controls DALI or DSI digital dimming ballasts whilst the analogue dim variants controls 1-10V dimming ballasts. Rekindling Rock Roots
Team Focus: Michelle Ryan Chief Buyer Michelle has been with CP Electronics for over seven years, managing our Purchasing department. Sourcing over 31 million components a year, Michelle and her team are integral to all company divisions. 1. What does your role entail?
We are delighted to announce OEM/ Export Manager and returning rock band member Gary Pearson will be reuniting with his legendary British Heavy Metal group, Vardis. The group which consists of Steve Zodiac on guitar and lead vocals, Terry Horbury on bass guitar, and our very own Gary Pearson on drums, will be touring selected events across Europe in 2014. Vardis enjoyed great success in the early 1980s, and went on to perform at major music festivals such as the 1981 Heavy Metal Holocaust music festival alongside Ozzy Osbourne and MotĂśrhead. 27 years after their disband Steve, Gary and Terry have re-united and will soon be back in the studio working on a brand new Vardis album for 2014 release. Gary will continue his position at CP Electronics, but looks forward to the exciting music events to come. Follow him at www.vardisrocks.com. Good luck Gary from all at CP Electronics.

Purchasing ensure production is kept running; that we are equipped with all the right parts, for the right price, at the right time. As much as purchasing involves organisation, research and negotiating, we also work towards keeping strong working relationships with our suppliers. 2. What is the hardest aspect of your role? We are constantly under time pressures, and the stress acts as adrenaline for me. If components are not delivered on time, production could be left at a standstill and customers’ orders could arrive late. We are always refining contingency strategies to avoid this happening. 3. What is the best aspect of your role? I love what I do - I really enjoy working with our suppliers and interacting with all departments within our organisation. I like to tackle new challenges; no two days are the same! I think Chris Alexis (Company Buyer) and I make a great team.
4. Have you always worked in purchasing? Prior to this I worked as a Buyer, but my background has always been Sales. I was a Sales Manager for over 13 years for electrical rental store, Radio Rentals, so I know how important my role in Purchasing is to a business. 5. You are part of the management structure. How has this changed the way you work? I am approachable and a people person. I understand every employee is important, so I try to listen to everyone and feedback contentious issues to the Board of Directors. The position gives me a holistic view of CP Electronics. 6. How has CP changed since you started? When I joined CP Electronics, there were only 40 employees. Now we have seen an array of new product releases and new people, a premises move and sustained growth. CP Electronics has flourished and I feel proud to be a part of the team.
