“Big smiles! That’s my reward and being at the front desk I see those smiles all the time. I’ve been here for nine years and, for me, everyone has become ohana (family). Many of our guests consider Lahaina Shores as their winter home. They come back right after New Year’s for long stays – one to three months - to get out of the cold and onto one of our sun loungers by

the pool. The whales are active right out front and people enjoy that so much. Some guests have been coming for over 20 years and many have inspired their friends to come along. So that brings first time guests to Lahaina Shores. The first timers tackle the “must do” list of a luau, the winding road to Hana, an early morning trip to Haleakala etc. Return guests usually like to stay on property and just relax. I take pride in preserving the unique relaxed style of Lahaina Shores and nourishing the family feeling among the staff and guests. Insider tip from David: Don’t miss the Friday night art show under the famous banyan tree. Everything you want to see in Lahaina is just a stroll from Lahaina Shores.”

“My job is called inspectress because it’s up to me to make sure your condo is clean and organized before you step through the door. We know that first impressions are very important so I check on the details before you arrive. I’ve been here 15 years and lots of guests know me. I hear them call out “Oh you’re still here Rhoda! I’m happy to see you again.” That makes me feel good. There are lots of return guests at Lahaina Shores. They run away from the cold every winter. I see people from the Mainland and from Germany, Japan and Canada.” One thing that’s nice too is when I hear guests say that they love the brand new Lahaina Shores Premier condos. They say, “Oh this is beautiful!” 6
Michael Zaan Maintenance
“The easiest part of my job is fixing the air conditioners because usually all I have to do is shut the lanai door! Guests don’t know that sensors shut the air conditioning off when they open the lanai door so they think it’s broken. But I like those calls because it gives me a chance to make the guests feel welcome on their first day. They can see that I’m here and they feel confident that they won’t be left on their own if something comes up. Guests count on me to keep the oceanfront pool clean and ready for them to enjoy. Often as I’m cleaning the pool I meet guests as they go out for their morning walk. Sometimes they ask me for an idea on what to do outside Lahaina. I say just take a drive upcountry, stop to pick up something to eat, and have a picnic anywhere along the way. There are so many beautiful spots that you don’t have to plan all you have to do is go.” 7
