Our Story
Rodolfo Kusulas & Marcelo Ramirez first crossed paths while studying product design at Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy. Since then they have shared many ideas, beliefs and techniques regarding their profession. They believe design should aim for a seven billion people audience -the whole world and not just a select number or people. The designer does not bother to make an object that it will last forever in time, but aims to proyect an object to be consumed as bread, every day, as if it were a cultural food, hence the name of the studio. In this way, this aesthetic, can be administered in small doses, by means of the objects we use every day. Today they come together as nom to create their first collection: prologue. Let the story begin...

Process
The final form of an objects is the logical result of a proyect that aims to solve in an optimal way all the components of a design problem: choose the most suitable materials, the right techniques, experiments with the possibilities of both, take in account the psychological component, the cost and each of it´s functions. Aesthetics and functionality are intrinsic characteristigs of design, if a product lacks either of those it should not be called design. A computer does not make a designer, we believe there are many ways to bring design to life; through research, sketching, model building and more importantly throught dialogue.
Prologue I read somewhere – and I cant remember where – once: “You can reach timelessness if you look for the essence of things and not the appearance.” And that got me thinking... We are no past the mark of 7 billion people on this earth is this fact is both unnerving and exciting at the same time, it’s normal that everyone wants their chance and, don’t get me wrong I want everyone to have their chance, i wanna know all the possibilities, besides why should someone be denied the freedom of trying? With whatever outcome, everyone should get their opportunity regardless of their point of view, as long as its justified. The paradox here is that all this availability makes it really hard to concentrate and distinguish what its really worth from the background noise, like a party for deaf people where everyone is talking. In a way we think we are getting more but in reality we are getting less, the old argument of quantity vs quality. The problem here I think lies not only in the the source but also in the receptor end of the situation. We don’t do our part, we get distracted from all that noise, we get lazy and stop using our brains and stop criticizing or, as Socrates puts it a man must understand and examine himself and the universe that surrounds him; “...for the unexamined life is not worth living.” Look, what I’m trying to say is that besides from anyone having their chance, we should not exalt whats empty and useless; and we should strive to posses the humility and respect to recognize this fact, both when creating and evaluating. We as a society need to start looking in another direction, this is what this journey is all about: exploration. Because how can you know for sure whats essential without first evaluating all your options? And from what I’ve seen I’ve come to the conclusion that ours its a time to be conscious, of what we need and of what we use, but also importantly of what we don’t need and use; create fewer but more significant things. Focus on substance, on essence rather than looks because the appearance is transitory, the appearances trendiness but the essence is timeless.
