The St. Paul, Minnesota thrash metal band Gracepoint are putting out their sophomore album in 2016, Echoes, which is scheduled for April 1 st , sixteen years after their debut album Science of Discontent. Produced and engineered by Neil Kernon (Hall & Oates, Queensryche, Nevermore, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Macabre), the album sits somewhere between traditional heavy metal and thrash. Despite the twisted thrash sound, the album have many catchy riffs and melodies too. There are also some prog touches throughout, and Gracepoint surely deserve credit for trying to not be one dimensional. About the song structure, the entire Gracepoint construct depends primarily on rhythms and melodies created by guitars, but bass and drums have also an excellent performance on album. These instruments constantly deliver solid beats into the band's formula and they compliment the catalytic sounding guitars very well. Vocals are able to add more emphasis on strong rhythmic and melodic lines, with singer who can do just about everything from singing clean to doing consistent powerful vocals. In conclusion, Echoes is packed with tons of heavy and melodic riffs, and some mind足blowing solos as well, which are interesting to follow, that are sure to please any fan of thrash metal.
