GLOBALISM vs. Nationalism Globalists

A globalist believes that all borders and nation should be dissolved resulting in one single world government. The motivations behind this ideology can be categorized into political and economic motivations Support for globalism is strong among corporations and the super rich for a number of reasons: 1. The destruction or weakening of nation states would allow corporations to gain notably more power. 2. The movement of cheap labor from areas of low demand to areas of high demand and allow for wages to be kept low, along with providing a source of disposable labor. 3. It would allow the free movement of goods without tariffs and individual national laws. Support for globalism also comes from neo-Marxist because; 1. They believe that countries sep-a-rate successful and unsuccessful people, doing away with borders would allow those who have not to take from those who have. 2. The idea that mass immigration would result in the destruction of ethnic groups which neo-Marxists do not like these ethnic groups include Europeans Jews and East Asians Left-wing politicians also support globalism because mass immigration provides them with a reliable voting bloc (who very rarely if ever vote for right-wing parties).

Nationalists

A nationalist is someone who believes in a political, social and economic ideology and movement characterized by the promotion of the interests of a particular nation, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining the nation’s sovereignty (self-governance) over its homeland.

Nationalism holds that each nation should govern itself, free from outside interference (self-determination), that a nation is a natural and ideal basis for a polity, and that the nation is the only rightful source of political power (popular sovereignty). It further aims to build and maintain a single national identity — based on shared social characteristics such as culture, language, religion, politics, and belief in a shared singular history — and to promote national unity or solidarity. Nationalism, therefore, seeks to preserve and foster a nation’s traditional culture, and cultural revivals have been associated with nationalist movements. It also encourages pride in national achievements, and is closely linked to patriotism. Nationalism is often combined with other ideologies, such as conservatism

Liberal vs. Conservative

For much of the 20th century, ideological discussions and debates have centered on liberal versus conservative, left versus right. No longer. The ideological divide of the 21st century is emerging as globalism versus nationalism. Since the end of World War II, global integration and technological progress have fueled a new world order centered on free trade, open borders and interdependent economies. Goods, capital and people should be able to move freely across borders, which is actually the meaning of globalization. The new nationalists seek to reassert control over their own countries. Their targets are global structures such as the European Union, the World Trade Organization (WTO), NATO, the United Nations and the North American Free Trade Agree-

ment. The globalists have underestimated the collateral damage globalization has inflicted upon workers. They “placed too much weight on the strategic advantages of trade and dismissed too readily the value that many ordinary citizens still attach to national borders and cultural cohesion.” The voters for Brexit and for Trump “were bothered less by competition from immigrants than by their perceived effect on the country’s linguistic, religious and cultural norms. In conclusion, those who have advocated for the ideology of globalism and worldwide economic integration seriously underestimated the risks and potential dangers that would result from large parts of society feeling as if they were left behind due to more open trade with open borders as the world’s economies integrated together. Those sentiments and real feelings explain why the Brexit vote was successful. Such developments also explain the emergence of Trump. Fundamentally, the ideology of nationalism is (temporarily?) providing a meaningful and energized alternative to the ideology of globalism. Will the alternative of nationalism survive? Will it thrive and permeate the other nations of Europe? If the nationalist forces all win in Europe, it could mean the death of the European Union. What exactly Donald Trump will do as he rides the wave of this intense new nationalism is anybody’s guess. But one thing is for certain right now: Globalism in the United States (and the world?) as a governing ideology is on hold. Is it dead? Only time will tell.

orget the movie “Top Gun.” This book, “Top Gun: An American Story,” by Dan Pedersen soars into the readers’ minds. On the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Top Gun Navy Fighter Graduate School, its founder shares the remarkable inside story of how he and eight other risk-takers revolutionized the art of aerial combat. Pedersen, known as the “Godfather of Top Gun,” is credited with establishing the Navy Fighter Weapons School with the help of eight other passionate and talented officers known as the “Original Bros.” (For the purpose of consistency, the spelling will be Top Gun instead of “Topgun.”) The book is an autobiography as Pedersen reflects on his childhood, why and how he decided to be a flyer. There are also bits of his love life and family life, his military career and his post-military life. He stated why the book was written, as “a legacy for the Top Gun school and teachers and what they accomplished.” But the most interesting parts of the

book is the discussion on how he became the man assigned to creating the school. Many today, can reflect on similar situations with the War on Terror. The bureaucrats and many high-ranking generals thought they knew best until the candid USS Coral Sea Commander Frank Ault spoke out. Already in line for admiral and with nothing to lose, the World War II attack pilot put his gripes on paper in 1968 and sent them to the Pentagon. He listed in detail the problems and the solutions with aerial engagement in Vietnam, in what became known as the Ault Report, and recommended the formation of a school specializing in aerial combat. Some of the problems included pilots fighting in Vietnam receiving limited training, having faulty Sidewinder and Sparrow missiles and not learning the skills they needed to outmaneuver the enemy. This became abundantly clear with the kill ratios: In World War II the kill ratio was approximately 14-to-1, during the Korean War about 10-to-1, but in Vietnam — before the Top Gun program — it was as low as 2-to-1. The planes did not even have guns because someone in the design industry decided they were not needed. There was a reliance on the missiles, but they never worked. This is what we changed with the founding of the Top Gun graduate school. EC: Your other big gripe is that Washington politicians were running the war. DP: If a war is to be fought, guys are asked to risk their lives flying an airplane, competing in real-life combat, decisions should not be made by politicians, but by people on the ground. Robert McNamara, the secretary of defense during the Vietnam War, and President LBJ mandated what went on. World War II was fought completely different where the war in the Pacific was run by

MMA fighter Conor McGregor is in trouble with the police after smashing a fan’s phone.

ALLEGEDLY SMASHED FAN’S PHONE AT MIAMI NIGHT CLUB Conor McGregor was charged with strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief after allegedly smashing a person’s phone on Monday in Miami Beach. “As soon as he came to shake my hand, he pulled me in and he grabbed my phone and he started smashing it and all his security guards literally surrounded me, pushed me out the way, and he’s stomping on it,” Abdirzak said. “... [McGregor] was just like, ‘Get the f--- out my face. Move.’ And then I was like, ‘Yo, sir, can I have my phone back?’ “There was security in his entourage around him and I asked them, ‘Yo, can I get my phone back, please?’ And it was like, ‘Yo, move, man. You better listen to what Conor says.’ McGregor picked the phone up, put it in his pocket, laughed, and then he got in his [SUV] and they drove off, literally. That’s when the hotel manager

McGregor’s defense attorney, Sam Rabin, issued the following statement on Monday. “Last evening, Conor McGregor was involved in a minor altercation involving a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement,” Rabin said. “Mr. McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation.”

It was horrible that they could not even wear their uniforms when they came home because people would spit on them. EC: Dan, you said in the book you miss flying. What do you miss most?

DP: The most beautiful things I saw in the airplane. There would be blue skies and white clouds. One Christmas while flying the F-4 above Las Vegas, I soared to 50,000 feet. It was spectacular with everything I could see. It was a beautiful night with the stars so bright. I turned off my cockpit lights and could read my kneeboard by starlight. It was amazing. EC: What do you want the reader to get out of the book? DP: My eight bros and I are patriots. This country needs more patriots that put America first. Anyone willing to defend their country should have a voice in combat and should have some control over their own destiny.
