’ESTHÉTIQUE DE LA RÉSISTANCE Resistant and elegant.A new clothing brand made entirely with strong workwear fabrics. Hades offers an original alternative when buying clothes for everyday life. By Fashion Director Marcella Martinelli

MilliOnAir

MilliOnAir

17

HADES

is a new Parisian brand that creates stylish workwear for the streetwear crowd. It starts with the observation that at present times, in search of a more reasonable consumption, we need resistant clothing of quality, that can age well and is street smart too. Hades offers a choice to slow down on the constant necessity to renew the basic wardrobe after a few turns in the washing machine. The fact that you can wash most Hades clothes at any temperature is constitutive of the brand’s vision, offering a more suitable solution to urban everyday life. Hades is the result of a collaboration between founder Johann Meunier, his team of pattern makers who have graduated from the renowned Chambre Syndicale de la haute couture and the specialized French industries of security and safety workwear. Hades thus benefits from advanced research carried out in the past 50 years for the safety and workwear industry that has developed impressive new technologies in creating fabrics to ensure comfort in extreme conditions and durability. The clothes are based on a multi-influenced street style derived from Neapolitan bespoke suits, Los Angeles gangs, the Yakuza and a sportswear wardrobe. The Hades team has risen to an ongoing challenge: designing a stylish garment with an industrial textile. Hades reconciles strength and durability with style and elegance. Catherine Harbour is a talented young photographer she is also a kind, beautiful woman and fun to work with and has an infectious laugh! on all the shoots that we have done together, I only have the best memories of working with her she is creative and works hard and somehow everything just happens organically or magically. A quick thinker and always willing to make any shoots happen under any circumstances Catherine or Cat as we all call her picked up her first Pentax camera aged 14 in art class at school and quickly became hooked. She says she was lucky that the school had a darkroom and was always found there in her own little world developing film and lost in her own thoughts.

31

From the dark rooms of Camberwell College of Art to a BA photography course at the London College of Fashion then continuing to assist various photographers when the digital age was upon us, Cat started building her own portfolio and a campaign for L'Oreal happened which deepened her love for beauty photography.

Nominated for fashion photographer of the year in 2011 her client's list grew rapidly and from then on she was shooting for ELLE magazine, Harper's, Marie Claire amongst many others.

I have been fortunate to have been on some of these fabulous shoots one,in particular, was a glamorous campaign for Adler jewellery which to date is amongst one of my favourite. This is where talent meets passion and where it meets the unstoppable and charming Catherine harbour.

MilliOnAir | Fall Trends

Fendi Fall Collection Fendi showcased its Fall/Winter 2018 womenswear collection back in February 22nd in Milan by the quintessential Karl Lagerfeld and the only family member left at the Italian fashion house, Silvia Venturini Fendi. Supermodel icons such as the Hadid sisters, Kaia Gerber and Adwoa Aboah walked to “Shadows”by Chromatics. Delivering an assortment of feminine and playful staples, here are the standout fashion moments to make note of. With the iconic F stamp setting in the hoop, the square-to-hoop danglers will transform a simple outfit from borderline boring to head-turning in a pinch.

Enjoy 48 different versions of the same boot from Fendi come Fall 2018.The western-style silhouette with a double Cuban triangular heel were decked out in silk, crocodile leather, glazed checks and more.

From graphic to ultra-femme,embroidery is making a major comeback according to Fendi.Model Adwoa Aboah finished the show with a show-stopping decorated fur cape, while other pieces like pleated silk dresses were adorned with floral decals.

Featured in 13 out of 22 runway looks, Fendi’s oversized checkered pattern was off the charts. British graphic artist Hey Reilly became an overnight Instagram sensation and runway influencer when Fendi decided to include his graphic parody collaboration of Fila and Fendi on crewnecks. MilliOnAir

Every month we seek to Uncover new products, experiences and places to inspire you and offer you those special touches and products that add something extra to a luxury lifestyle.

33 Rue Majorelle When you think of Marrakech your first thought is probably of getting lost in seething noisy souks, avoiding touts with monkeys, snake charmers and local tour guides who want to lead you even deeper into the Medina to find carpets. Love it or hate it Marrakech is certainly an experience, but on a recent trip I discovered another side of Marrakech on Rue Yves Saint Laurent. We visited the area to see the Yves Saint Laurent Museum and Jardin Majorelle, which Yves and Pierre Berge bought in 1980 and restored before gifting it to their foundation on Yves death, We spent a glorious morning being shown around and then decided to pop across the road for a spot of lunch and discovered the most surprising and delightful store 33 Rue Majorelle. This concept store is the antithesis of the crowded souks, offering an excellently curated selection of Moroccan designer brands and products. The store has often been compared with the Parisian concept stores Colette and Merci, and it certainly offers the same level of chic shopping experience. Over two floors we discovered everything from fine ceramics to designer fashion, high quality beauty products to design focussed homewares, all created by local artisans. The store seeks out both established and emerging talents who are based in Morocco today, whether local craftsmen working with traditional techniques or foreign designers who have settled in the country. Every corner of the light and airy store reveals another delectable piece to purchase. If you are planning a trip to Marrakech make sure you add 33 Rue Majorelle to your schedule and leave space in your suitcase so that you can take home some amazing gifts and products.

Aznauri This month we want to introduce you to a luxury Georgian brand we have Uncovered..AZNAURI who have just presented their fourth collection in Paris. The brand has appointed a new creative director Iraklio De Vega to refresh the direction of the brand, moving it from heavy 90’s influence into the future. Iraklio has a strong background in cinema and arts, with 13 years experience in costume and art departments including working on movies such as“Tangerines”which was nominated for Oscar Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.“Movies and fashion will always be going together, both giving freedom to fantasy on how we perceive the universe and imagine the future looks. I have designed the collection for those who are bold enough to allow themselves to look different from the rest. I see them all as movie characters, who gather at night to be expressive, free and upfront”– said Iraklio De Vega. “I just want to be in touch with what women and men want to wear, I am going away from something-for-everyone fashion trend, instead I created glamourous eveningwear empowering with a feeling of confidence.”

Book

Why Social Media is Ruining Your Life, by Katherine Omerod I have been a fan of Katherine Omerod for a while, following her work as a journalist for magazines including Grazia and Glamour, as well as her platform www.workworkwork.co which she set up in 2017. The site is an antiperfectionism platform, where high-profile social media stars and women with aspirational careers share stories from their ‘unedited’ lives. So, I was thrilled to pick up her book Why Social Media is Ruining Your Life which tackles head on the pressure cooker of comparison and unreachable levels of perfection that social media has created in our modern world.

“Do you ever obsess about your body? Do you lie awake at night, fretting about the state of your career? Does everyone else's life seem better than yours? Does it feel as if you'll never be good enough? “ In the book, Katherine meets the experts involved in curating, building and combating the most addictive digital force humankind has ever created. From global influencers who collectively have over 10 million followers, to clinical psychologists, plastic surgeons and professors, Katherine uncovers how our relationship with social media has rewired our behavioural patterns, destroyed our confidence and shattered our attention spans. As a mother to two, now grown up daughters, I saw for myself how badly social media affected their confidence and perceptions of themselves when they were teenagers. Thankfully as they matured they both lost interest in recording their whole lives on their social media accounts, however we have seen that some of their friends became more obsessed with creating the perfect image rather than enjoying the moment.

If you haven’t picked up a copy yet (click on the link below), put it on your Christmas list for both yourself and your daughters, as Why Social Media is Ruining Your Life is a rallying cry that provides the knowledge, tactics and weaponry we all need to find a healthier way to consume social media and reclaim our happiness. www.amazon.co.uk

MilliOnAir | The inside Scoop

Written by Alison J Lowe MBE

The Inside Scoop with fashion stylist Rebekah Roy Earlier in the year I interviewed renowned celebrity and personal fashion stylist Rebekah Roy about her career but I also wanted to ask her about the benefits of working with a personal stylist, as I needed help! I seemed to be spending more and more time staring into my overflowing wardrobe but couldn’t find anything to wear? Or would spend hours shopping only to return home with either nothing or with a few random pieces that don’t work with anything else I already own? I may work in fashion but I am no fashionista and needed help, not because I have bad taste but because I find myself at a point in my life where I am no longer sure what to wear, how to wear it, which new trends would be appropriate for my lifestyle and I don’t have time to work it all out. Through my PR agency I know how stylists work with celebrities and magazines but would they work with an ordinary person like me? I turned to one of the best stylists in the business, Rebekah Roy, to find out more about what she does and how she works with personal clients.

Rebekah at TED Talks

Rebekah had just finished a packed London Fashion Week schedule, styling numerous shows alongside working with her celebrity and personal clients, as well as delivering a TED Talks. A multi-faceted creative she has extensive experience in creative direction, art direction, styling and brand building and Time Out named her one of the Top 100 most original and influential people in the UK creative and media industries. My agency had worked with Rebekah for many years, as she is a unique stylist with a passion for supporting emerging fashion design talent, but I didn’t know much about her personal styling work so took the opportunity to talk about her career and fire some questions at her about this side of her business. MilliOnAir

47

Tell us about yourself and your career so far – how did you become a fashion stylist? I was always interested in fashion and worked at Holt Renfew when I was in high school. I loved clothes but didn’t see it initially as a career path. I studied Women’s Studies and Theatre in Montreal and I was always interested in art and communication. Later, I did an internship at British Vogue and that was the beginning of my fashion career in London – after that everything was set in motion. I have styled and consulted for clients around the world including large global brands such as Visa, Nintendo, Harvey Nichols, John Lewis and Virgin as well as working extensively with cutting-edge designers and styling catwalk shows each London Fashion Week season.

I have been lucky to work with an extensive celebrity client list as well as with private clients and the aim for all my work is to embrace the common thread that fashion makes between people and its ability to add beauty and fun to the world! Tell us some of your most memorable moments in your career? I love that moment before a fashion show begins and all the models are in the line-up, before the music starts and the lights come on - it’s the anticipation, that breath when everything comes together. It is the same moment when I see a private client all dressed up and ready to on their way to an event. Early in my career I was asked to give a styling workshop as part of the Viktor & Rolf exhibition at the Barbican, the workshop was over booked and people were lined up in the hall – it was exciting! I’ve been so fortunate in my career – there are so many memorable moments that I’m grateful for!

MilliOnAir

You have lots of different roles as a stylist including fashion week, shoots and personal styling – what is unique about each of the different roles and what do you love about each one? Each of the roles involves a different skill set:ultimately, they’re all about creating a style, developing a look, and understanding the brand or the person. A fashion show has a different type of intensity to it, which I love and thrive on.I do quite a few commercial shows that are multi-brand/designer and I’m responsible for the curation of the show, working on the casting and the hair & make-up concepts. I am involved in every aspect of the show.At London Fashion Week it is about understanding the designer’s vision and executing that, it’s about team work. Fashion shows are time sensitive, you can spend months preparing them and then it’s suddenly all over!

How do you work with personal clients? Do you ask questions, go through their wardrobe, take them shopping? Initially it’s usually a Personal Assistant who makes the first contact with me. I tend to ask them a lot of questions about their client. A good PA generally knows their boss very well. I then do a lot of research on my client and find out as much as I can before speaking with them. I don’t want to waste any of their time.

Fashion shoots have an exciting synergy when working with the photographer, the model and make-up/hair artists – and everything comes together. I love creating another type of reality that lives forever in a photograph. I produce & act as the creative director for a lot of the shoots that I work on, putting the team together and coming up with the concept. Personal styling is just that it’s personal and it’s a private. It is not something I advertise or generally even talk about, as I want to protect the privacy of my clients. I want to know and understanding the person I’m working with, I want to know their ambitions, their lifestyle and then we can realize what they need from fashion.

The clients who contact me need a change, their life is busy and often they need something for an important event and then the relationship builds from there.

49

What type of people use a personal stylist? Busy people use a personal stylist, but also when we experience changes in our life our style changes and we all could use some help with that. Many of my clients already have sense of their style, often they know what they like and they just don't have time or know where to shop. For many of them it’s more than just wearing the super brands and the latest catwalk looks, they want something more unique, more individual. Each client works differently, some work on a retainer basis and some just ring me when they need something. How do people find a stylist and what should they look for? Personal styling from me is just that - it’s personal and it’s private. It’s really something that I’ve never advertised and I usually don’t talk about it. I’m usually contacted by someone’s assistant was found me on the web by looking for a fashion stylist. My clients tend to hire me because I work actively in the fashion industry with brands, designers and with magazines. Also, my clients like that I have travelled extensively for work, giving fashion workshops from Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, so many of my clients are international. What are the challenges of being a personal stylist? My clients are really pressed for time so everything is at short notice, so you need to know what they like, where to find it quickly and where to have it altered for them. Can you give one piece of styling advice that would work for everyone? Smile! It sounds so easy but there is nothing so inviting and confident as a warm smile. Does it help a woman to have a capsule collection or working ‘uniform’? It’s good to have a strong base and some key go to items, but dressing is always a combination of how we feel and has to be event appropriate. What are the biggest challenges for you? I’m highly organised and very good at time management. My biggest challenge is to always remain adaptable and then I can be available when my clients need me Do you buy more on line or in store? I do lots of research online but I love going in store and having that shopping experience. I want to be inspired by shop windows and the merchandizing. Finally high street fashion retailers are really struggling at the moment – is it the death of the fashion store? I always go in store! I like experiencing the customer service and enjoying the store aesthetic. Matches has just opened up new concept store in Mayfair it’s a wonderful experience! Bvlgari Le Gemme Collezione When King Henry III of France arrived in Venice in 1574, he gifted its doge, Alvise Mocenigo, a large diamond-set ring of ‘grandissimo valore’, worth 1,050 ducats (equivalent to £150,000 today). But in Venice, the value of diamonds has nothing on perfume – something the king discovered for himself in the markets of Rialto, where scent ingredients like musk and amber cost him as much as 1,125 ducats. Centuries later, the floating city continues to captivate new arrivals – and it still appreciates the value of an excellent fragrance. The Lido’s sandy beaches are as enticing as they were in the Twenties, when the aristocracy bathed in the lagoon; the island of Burano continues to inspire designers with its intricate, hand-sewn lace. And Murano, famous for its glassmaking – a craft dating to 1291 and passed through generations of masters – is still regarded as the source of the world’s finest coloured glass. Now, Bulgari has launched Le Gemme Collezione Murano, a tribute both to the vibrant glass that has become its hallmark and to the city’s fame as the hub of Western perfumery – and it is as refined and unique as you would expect.

The six new scents are the most precious (and, at £1,900 a bottle, the most costly) in the history of Bulgari perfume. LE GEMME MURANO ZAHIRA

MilliOnAir

Each is encased in a Murano glass bottle using a technique known as Sbruffo, which allows for a kaleidoscopic layering of hues, made even more vibrant with the addition of minerals and metals. Creating each vessel is a complicated process. The sand is first heated in a furnace on a long metal stake, and the glass blown into a fragile, coloured bubble. This is then smashed and separated from the clear glass before being spun, shaped and cooled for 20 hours. It takes five men working in careful synchronicity over several months to fashion the heavy glass bottles into which the scent is poured. Perhaps fortunately for them only 300 bottles, each handnumbered, will be made. The fragrances inside are equally precious. Amarena is a heady blend of rose and Indian tuberose – the most expensive ingredient in modern perfumery; Lazulia is deep and nocturnal, based on agarwood (the rarest of all woods, it takes 20 years for the tree to produce its aromatic resin). Noorah is an oriental chypre that layers iris and patchouli with Madagascan vanilla. However the BVLGARI Perfume Creation & Heritage Director Amandine Pallez, insists it’s not simply a matter of using costly ingredients: ‘Balance is key. Adding huge quantities of truffle doesn’t immediately make your scrambled eggs perfect, it’s the amount you add. Perfume is like a recipe – too much of something and the flavour is ruined.’ These gem-inspired flaçons are also infused with meaning. Caluluna, spiced with cardamom and orange blossom, is presented in a milky bottle based on moonstone, a gem representative of femininity (centuries ago, women sewed moonstones into their clothes to enhance fertility). The intensely floral Zahira (a rush of ylang-ylang and benzoin) is contained in luminous golden glass reminiscent of topaz, once regarded as the source of the sun’s energy. Not only do these references tap into Bulgari’s longstanding love affair with the symbolism of gemstones, they impart a sense of power to those who wear them. As does the weight of the bottles: these heavy, orb-topped scents are, after all, designed to be the centrepiece of a dressing table.

LE GEMME MURANO SELIMA

LE GEMME MURANO LAZULIA

LE GEMME MURANO NOORAH

More than just scents, these are works of art. ‘Each is handmade, hand-blown and unique – so while we say that they are all 100ml, really some might be 108ml or 110ml,’ admits Pallez. ‘Creating them was a lesson in patience. We are living in a world where we computerise everything: we delete, we erase, we shift the colours. But not with Le Gemme. It doesn’t work this way. And that’s the beauty of craftsmanship.’

Azza Fahmy Jewellery Launches the Spellbinding ‘Wonders of Nature’ 2017 Collection Azza Fahmy takes a deeper gaze into the eyes of flora and fauna as they continue the Wonders of Nature theme for the 15 piece handcrafted 2017 collection that launches next month. Taking inspiration from the magical wilds of the jungle, Head of Design, Amina Ghali, explores the darker side of nature capturing its diversity and the perfections within the imperfections. Exotic wildlife is embraced by the premier design house with the ubiquitous serpent motif - the most widespread mythological symbol and a great icon of jewellery design – sensitively re-defined to form an appealing, hypnotic central theme for the collection. Featuring artisanal time-honoured techniques, the unique, exquisitely designed pieces encapsulate nature’s various forms from butterflies, ladybirds, bumble bees to birds such as the hoopoe, the Indian peacock and the owl, together with flowers including the exotic bird of paradise. A dynamic and transcultural collection of innovatively designed earrings that coil and dazzle, stunning necklaces in matt and polished finishes including the amazing show-stopping statement peacock collar with intricate lace effect wirework that replicates the intricate artistry of the peacock’s majestic tail. Textured bracelets, an alluring cuff with 3D form and a mesmerising double finger ring with stylish intertwine detail in 18ct gold or Azza Fahmy’s trademark mixed metal of 18ct gold units and sterling silver skilfully layered to evoke a subtle sensuality while creating graceful impact. The striking use of exclusively carved stones provide further vibrancy to the collection. Cabochon style faceted green and purple amethyst, brilliant white, champagne and black diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires together with rose and white freshwater pearls add a vintage vibe and dramatic elegance. Amina Ghali says: We’ve continued to interpret the perfections within the imperfections of nature as we evolved the 2017 collection. A symbol of love, fertility, wisdom and protective properties, we have sensitively re-defined the serpent motif sensitively emulating elements of its body detail to create a sleek, non-intimidating, chic appeal. Borrowing from tableau art style composition for the design of the Hoopoe Cuff (pictured) we were keen to capture the inspiring, unexpected harmonious relationship of wildlife reminiscent of the Jungle Book’ story together with nature’s floral landscape.” Within the collection is the Wonders of Nature ‘Classics’ where Victoriana meets Egypt. Consisting of ‘must have’ timeless pieces including irresistible chandelier and hoop style earrings with bow and cascading detailing, an eyecatching choker, the cool Classic Cuff with geometric motifs, poetic verse that creatively resemble a lace pattern adorned with semi-precious stones. Last, but not least, is the impressive pearl and diamond Indian tribal ring. Techniques such as intricate ajouré wire work and calligraphy, one of Azza Fahmy’s popular personalisation signatures with hidden messages of love courtesy of the iconic Egyptian singer Om Kalthoum and famous poets. Wrapped in history, whether it be the serpent motif that is embedded in Egyptian culture dating back over 150 years; adorned by Cleopatra and further popularised by Queen Victoria (whose engagement ring featured an emerald and diamond snake’s head as an emblem of eternal love), and was also prevalent in the art nouveau movement. OR, the ‘Classics’ which draws on past eras but delivers a modern contemporary aesthetic, the Azza Fahmy’s Wonders of Nature 2017 collection, available instore at azzafahmy.com from June is beautifully avant-garde! www.azzafahmy.com

Ahead of the Holiday season 2018, the house of Chopard introduces the new edition of the Empress Box, a capsule collection built around the iconic “Imperial” motif. The biennial Empress Box, envisioned as a jewelry set for a modern empress, comprises five pieces of timeless chic – a watch and a jewelry line that consists of a pair of earrings, ring, necklace, and tiara. The new edition of the Empress Box is inspired by the splendor of imperial Russia. It features a unique new timepiece that combines historical references with the cutting-edge skills of the Manufacture and its Haute Joaillerie ateliers. The box includes a timepiece from the Imperiale collection, Chopard’s flagship feminine range, which also inspired a namesake collection of jewelry. The watch is adorned with the Imperiale signature motif – a lacework tracing a decorative motif evoking the embroideries embellishing cushions on which monarchs placed their insignia. For the 2018 edition of the Empress Box, Chopard has created a secret watch inspired by the crown of the Tsars, the Imperial Crown of Russia, created by jeweller Jérémia Poser on demand of Catherine the Great. This ceremonial object decorated with no less than 5000 diamonds was inspired by Byzantine models: “on either side, rimmed by a row of pearls, two hemispheres depict the Roman Empire stretching from East to West. At its center, a foliate garland is topped by a 398.72-carat spinel adorned with a cross representing the Christian faith. The inside of the crown is lined with red velvet.” Interpreting this symbol of majesty, the Imperial Empress Watch is adorned with arabesque motifs and an openworked cover set with diamonds, pearls, and a ruby in its center. Framed by a diamond-set bezel is the Grand Feu enamel revealing the iconic “Imperial” motif, hand-engraved and adorned with diamonds. The exquisite new model is housed in a 18-carat white gold case and powered by the self- winding L.U.C 96.23-L3 movement. The white gold movement is adorned with oak leaves and acorns, using the Fleurisanne engraving technique. The motif is borrowed from the foliate garland gracing the Imperial Crown of Russia. The watch measures 38mm in diameter, 15,5 in thickness, and is water resistant to 30 meters. Chopard Empress Box, reference 384902-1001, is an 8-piece limited edition. - chopard.com

BEAUTY and the Drunk Elephan

''Found throughout the range, marula sits alongside all the major skin care 'food groups' vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, peptides... all the nourishment your skin cells need to thrive (in digestible, bio-available 'bites').''

O

ne of the industry's best ever 'good eggs' (she literally oozes warmth and loveliness), Tiffany Masterson's brand was born out of her own beauty bugbears.

Tiffany started {Drunk Elephant} after becoming bewildered by products that promised the earth and then failed to deliver. "I had all sorts of skin issues" says Tiffany; "I was a frustrated, confused brand-hopper searching for a solution. Nothing ever really worked and if it did, it wasn't for long."

''Drunk Elephant has fast become the skin care range to see (and be seen) with. Taking Instagram by storm.'' Sound familiar? Tiffany started to study ingredient lists to find out what was causing her skin to 'rebel'. She'd scrutinise the packaging to spot the common threads and then (attempt to!) eliminate them from her beauty regimen. She coined the phrase 'suspicious 6' - a list of no-nos which includes essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrance\dyes and SLS - and, having struggled to find the right products she took matters into her own (highly capable!) hands... Neither entirely 'natural' nor solely synthetic, {Drunk Elephant} straddles the two. Described as 'clean clinical', this range of beauty powerhouses brings together all the very best of both worlds - uniting lab-derived actives with natural oils to respect your complexion and stimulate cells without causing disruption and leaving skin overexposed. "I formulate with high percentages of actives at the ideal pH levels, and I make sure all of the ingredients are easily 'absorbable' and recognised by the skin" says Tiffany, who seems to be speaking the beauty world's language... It's safe to say {Drunk Elephant} has fast become the skin care range to see (and be seen) with. Taking Instagram by storm - in no small part due to its super-cute colour-pop packaging - its rocketed straight to the top of America's skin care 'it' list and shows no signs of slowing its rise towards world domination. Boasting pure marula oil - the reason for the quirky name (search "Elephant Marula Party" on YouTube for copious LOLs) - this precious African elixir is jam-packed with antioxidants to ward against the damaging effect of our environment (take that pollution). It's also brimming with essential fatty acids (great for elasticity) and naturally antimicrobial - brilliant for battling your breakouts.

MilliOnAir

Found throughout the range, marula sits alongside all the major skin care 'food groups' - vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, peptides... all the nourishment your skin cells need to thrive (in digestible, bioavailable 'bites'). Beneficial for all skin (Tiffany does not believe in 'types'), the entire range is made to mix and match to suit your needs. "Skin is skin" says Tiffany, who's firm in her belief that there is one 'ideal' for everyone and issues such as 'oiliness' and 'dryness' can be rectified with proper care (and steering clear of common irritants). If you're having a 'dull' spell, try {T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum} to gently refine and restore misplaced radiance, while a shot of the {B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum} will flood your cells with moisture to help counter dehydration and diminish depth of fine lines. {Drunk Elephant} encourage you to 'smoothie' to create the blend that works for you - there aren't any rules when it comes to combining the supercharged serums, creams, cleansers and oils - they're mean to complement each other perfectly. "A routine is only as good as its worst product, a product is only as good as its worst ingredient. it takes just one bad guy to ruin the party. Using {Drunk Elephant} exclusively is the best way to get maximum results" advises Tiffany. We don't need much convincing...

MilliOnAir | Fragrance Review

A WINNING FRAGRANCE

by Celebrity Editor Steven Smith

Everyone has a certain fragrance about them, and I am not talking about being smelly or unwashed. You may have noticed this when meeting someone really attractive, when you get close something about their scent may put you off. Equally, people may not have caught your attention, but when you get close, something about their body chemistry seems to attract you. When you find both, you are definitely onto a winner. You can sleep in the sheets with someone and their scent holds on to you, so much so you never want to let go, it’s that wonderful, it’s like bathing in a scent of love. Also perfumes and colognes can bring memories flooding back. For me, the smell of someone wearing Old Spice or Blue Water instantly makes me uneasy due to unpleasant past experiences, while Kouros seems to give me an allergic reaction, making me sneeze until I am blue in the face. Much as I love the smell of simple clean soap and masculinity, with the best will in the world, even with the best deodorant, a little help from a subtle cologne or aftershave can not only be enticing but will have him or her thinking about you every time they get a sniff the scent. For many years, my cologne of choice was the classic Green Armani, or the sensual Jean Paul Gautier and the delectable men’s Angel by Thierry Mugler. However, I always seemed to return to Armani because the clean, fresh citrus scent made me feel positive and alert. It stayed that way for a great number of years until a friend who works at Peter Jones perfume counter gave me a sample of Aventus by Creed, A ("from") ventus ("the wind"), illustrating the Aventus man as destined to live a driven life, ever galloping with the wind at his back toward success. Aventus is a sophisticated blend for individuals who savor a life well-lived. “The men are queuing up for this”, she said. Apparently, the scent was inspired by a historic emperor, celebrating strength and power. Created by master perfumer Oliver Creed, it is the best-selling fragrance of his highly successful brand. What harm could one dab do? I fell in love with the scent instantly. An hour later, on a train to Brighton, the cologne seemed to be getting more potent. Right away a friend asked what fragrance I was wearing, mentioning, ‘’it’s very sexy’’, and she wanted it for her husband. The affect continued to attract comments. But, alas, the fancy fragrance appeal came to an end as soon as the tiny sample ran out. I felt like I was turning into a perfume addict…Creed was my addiction of choice. So I was on the phone as soon as possible to my friend, as I decided to purchase the bottle, only to be very shocked when I was told the price, quite a few hundred pounds and at the time! Now that was more of a luxury than a necessity and I thought “how could I justify such extravagance?’’ However, I had clearly tried the ‘’phenomenon in its own right’’of perfumes; It was not long until Christmas and of course I was hoping for some to be in my santa sack, but oh if only I had used it for special occasions and made it last longer, but how long can a 10 ml sample last! The reaction when I was wearing it was just wonderful, people would continually ask me “What cologne do you have on?, it was a complete attention magnet and also it was a bit like walking an ultra cute puppy…people would just double look, stop and chat. I have never heard good reports of colognes using pheromones that claim to attract the opposite sex, but there was no evidence of Creed containing pheromones. Pheromones are chemicals that act like hormones outside the body of the secreting individual and they can impact on the behavior of receiving individuals. They include sex pheromones and many others that affect behavior or physiology. It is also said that you can laugh someone into bed. Laughter does release hormones, such as endorphins. It is fair to say that chemistry plays a big part in the game of attraction. Needless to say, my love affair with Creed continues, although I have managed to keep my use to very special occasions to make mine last. Until recently that is! A friend of mine gave me a new luxury and exclusive fragrance, ‘’Phenomenal Chemistry’’ The Art of Attraction by Jordan Belfort. It came packaged in two stunning bottles. The chemistry created when you mix the two bottles causes the attraction. MilliOnAir

First of all, this scent is created by Jordan Belfort, the man who gave us the book The Wolf of Wall Street, who can teach you how to sell by not selling. One could say he gave the Emperor his new clothes and paid the price, spending time in jail for it. He is now a motivational speaker, teaching the act of persuasion and how to bounce back from devastating set-backs. He has certainly persuaded many in the past to buy into a vision and he became a hero in many people’s eyes through his determination and passion to never give up. Although it is clear that addiction almost ruined his life, somehow Jordan has come out smelling of roses, which he could probably sell as well! So, is his new cologne just the Emperor’s new clothes of cologne? No! It is absolutely….well Phenomenal! It claims to emulate and enhance your very own aura, amplifying your personal magnetism and intensifying the art of attraction. As much as it smells divine, there is a lot more than meets the smell. One reviewer said; “Absolutely love the effect of layering these two fragrances you have to try it to believe it, compelling and alluring, I don’t know how they did it but these are incredible” If you feel that you have the power of attraction and magnetism, then there is good chance that you will attract others. Ultimately, Belfort is all about what you can persuade others and what you aspire to be.

For me, this fragrance smelt as wonderful as my preferred Creed, and as the same with Aventus as Phenomenal Chemistry there were very strong reactions to it. While I can’t say that people are throwing themselves at me just yet, comments of “Gosh, you smell AMAZING” seem to follow me. The image of sex has sold fragrances and fashion all over the world. Tom Ford Obre leather uses homoerotic cowboy images, Calvin Klein billboards are as famous as their products, and Jean Paul Gaultier iconic bottles have adorned many a sideboard as much for its style as its fragrance. So, if a product smells as alluring as Jordan Belfort’s fragrance then it is sure to be the gift for many people and even a luxurious treat for yourself. It is not going to break the bank and there is something a little naughty about knowing you have a bit of the wolf on you. As seen in Outnews Global

Rest Party Eat Repeat

Survive any Season by Bridget Hancock

M

any of us are rushed in our lives buying pre made foods, reaching for coffee to wake up, wine to unwind, and partying in between.

Rushing, snacking, smoking, drinking, popping uppers downers, not hitting the gym and relying on early Sunday nights to recover before we start all over again. Add in the exposure to chemicals in our food, pollutants in the air and toxins we handle and yet despite it all, the body is capable of healing itself provided we pay a little attention and give it the right nutrients to fulfil its role to support the body in its attempt to clean our mess and avoid long term damage. Furthermore recent research has proven over 80% of Serotonin and Dopamine, our feel good chemicals are made in the Digestive tract so it is vital we eat ourselves happy. Firstly we need to be mindful about eating, and take the time to chew our food until its a liquid. Eating on the run, whilst talking or catching up on social media and simply chewing enough to make food small enough to swallow means the body hasn’t time to prepare and produce the juices we need to break down it down on arrival at the stomach and as a result we feel full, bloated and uncomfortable. Protein is our best friend but not necessarily in huge amounts unless we are specifically building muscle. Protein is broken down to amino acids which run our body at the cellular level and we require roughly 1g per kilo body weight ( 0.83g-1g) daily. If you weigh 60kgs about 50-60 grams a day is a guide. (1chicken breast or a salmon fillet is 26g, 2 eggs is 12g, 2 tbs of hemp seeds is 20g or 1 cup cooked quinoa is 8g) Eating at least 10grams of protein at every meal will stimulate those gastric juices reducing bloating and the workload on our system. Drinking water at meal times also dilute these gastric juices slowing down digestion so drinking is best 20 minutes before or an hour after eating.

MilliOnAir

Our minerals and vitamins are absorbed in the small intestine so it is vital we keep stimulants that rush this process separate and therefore coffee should be kept at least an hour either side of taking any vitamins and eating. Despite our fears fats are our friends. Fats keep the cell membranes soft to absorb the water we drink and some vitamins, keeping our skin supple and nourished and so we need to embrace the good fats and ensure we include Almonds, Olive oil, Avocado, Mackerel, Sardines or Wild Salmon. Detoxification occurs in our Liver and this is where we need to step up and support it which we can do by simply adding 500g of cruciferous vegetables a week. (Rocket 1 bag 70-100g ,1 head of Broccoli is 350g, 1 bag Kale is 500g or brussel sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower ) After the liver has done all the work, packaging up the toxins, excess oestrogen and harmful chemicals, we require daily bowel movements to remove the waste so it isn’t reabsorbed back into our body. Therefore we should drink 2 litres of filtered water spread out daily and eat 30g of fibre for women or 35grams for men daily to make enough bulk to signal the walls to expel the waste. (Try 100g black beans for 10g or fibre and 10g protein). Add some fruit, whole grains, nuts, seeds and fats as part of your three meals a day and give your body a rest from digestion in between.

Finally Vitamin D is essential to boost our immune system and is available from sunlight so winter supplementation in the northern hemisphere is recommended. Insufficiency has been associated with higher rates of cancers including colon prostate and breast cancer, so it is worth checking. With a little mindfulness and self love our bodies will carry us through to party and live a full and vibrant life. Bridget Hancock BSc Pharmacology Physiology,Yoga teacher and currently in her final year of Naturopathic Nutrition will be hosting the next retreat 29th May-2nd June Mykonos

MilliOnAir | Aesthetics

| SKINCARE | AESTHETICS | BEAUTY Q&A by Beauty Editor Steven Smith

MilliOnAir presents distinguished aesthetics doctor, Dr Ioannis Liakas and business woman Vicky Grammatikopoulou. Their clients include celebrities, top models - and even royalty. Ioannis is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, senior lecturer at Queen Mary’s Medical School and an associate member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine. Before moving into the business side of aesthetics, Vicky was a teacher trainer and university lecturer. Together they are Vie Aesthetics, and run leading clinics in Harley Street, Germany and Southend. This month Vicky is busy opening their new clinic. So we asked Doctor Ioannis the big question:

"How can we bring out the best in ourselves using aesthetics ?"

MilliOnAir

Doctor Ioannis Liakas Aesthetic procedures have been traditionally a female monopoly and historically any aesthetic intervention on a male face and body up until recently, was not considered a very “masculine activity. With the millennial generation of men however entering the 3rd decade of their lives already, the macho prototype of masculinity is evolving and changing with them too.The male millennial generation are not fearful of showing emotions, sensitivity, vulnerability and indeed more emphasis on their looks too. Inevitably, this trend is catching up with older male generations, i.e. millennials’ fathers too! It is a fact that more and more men now more than ever before are seeking medical aesthetic procedures in order to look fresher, less tired and a better version of themselves. At vie aesthetics we offer all range of medical aesthetic procedures to help you achieve your goals; From treating tiredness under the eyes, to lines reduction on your forehead, soft facial lifting, body treatments to help you lose fat and to firm up your abdomen, biceps and pecs; immediately without surgery and with no pain. Our environment at vie aesthetics is not overwhelmingly feminine, it is entirely discreet, it is catering for both sexes and for all ages, and our professionals will do everything to address your needs as a man. We believe that in aesthetic medicine for men, combination therapies are the way forward in achieving optimal results. At vie aesthetics we only use medically approved products and devices, we provide all currently available advanced aesthetic medical procedures and we have only expert people to advise you. Reassuringly for us,our male clientele has risen by at least 50% in the last 2 years and we are looking forward to welcoming you at our premises too, where you will be able to feel relaxed and reassured that you can achieve all your goals and why not; to look fresh and millennial too, irrespective of your chronological age.

''Bring out your best self We very often hear that in order for somebody to look younger and better, they should maybe try a bit of "Botox and filler". Indeed, these two treatments play a role in making you look a little fresher. What most people do not know, however, is that aesthetic medicine has moved on considerably in the last 3-5 years and currently, apart from "Botox and fillers", there is a very wide range of non- surgical aesthetic procedures available to you in order to achieve a fresher, healthier, younger look.

At our clinic you can choose from all the procedures that are available in the field of advanced medical aesthetics, the ones that are tailored to you and your needs. This way you can maximise your potential in achieving a look that is your " best possible self", without looking "fake" or "made up". Whether it is just a "bit of Botox or filler" collagen stimulating products, a liquid facelift, PDO threads, silhouette soft threads, HIFU, chemical peels, or just body treatments, such as fat reduction injections, non- surgical body lift and many more treatments and procedures; we have it all under one roof for you. We believe that in aesthetic medicine, combination therapies are the way forward in achieving optimal results. At vie aesthetics we only use medically approved products and devices, we provide all currently available advanced aesthetic medical procedures and we have only expert people to advise you.

EARLIEST would be on my 10th birthday. We had moved into a new home and we didn’t have a lot of money and I wanted a bit of a party with some friends. My mum, Lillian, said ''before we get any wallpaper up on the bare walls or paint anything here’s some coloured chalks, you can cover the walls with pictures, words and art in a collage of what you want to celebrate your day,'' and sure enough we did, it looked incredible and everyone who came added their art to the wall. This was the mid 80’s, now of course this kind of stuff is everywhere. For us we had no carpets for a while back then, we thought we were poor but clearly we were just ahead of our time! Why is Positivity as opposed to negativity important to you? POSITIVITY is what we are. It’s an effortless abundant and wonderful force and expression which is here for us all at all times. It is our very essence our natural state of being, our art our talent our muse and we thrive in it and on it. The trouble for us, is maintaining it and keeping it consistent. Usually when we are positive, things just seem to happen which enhance and benefit our lives and the lives of those around us.When positivity is flowing we tend to find ourselves losing track of time, worry less, laugh more, feel good, look good and attract all things positive almost forgetting about anything that could have been,is,or deemed to be“negative.”And If we become faced with something even remotely negative, we can almost shrug it off and feel confident enough in our positivity to overcome it.The problem comes when we break the flow of positivity by forgetting to acknowledge that it is“positivity”presence that is benefiting us and it is“positivity”itself that is bringing wonderful things to us. Instead though we begin to replace“positivity”and its effectiveness into and onto what we have gained from its flow which is usually only ever a short-lived attachment or material gain, something on which we become dependent on or for, which only lasts or satisfies us for a particular period of time having no real lasting effect as it is merely an effect of or from positivity, a kind of byproduct and should only be taken for what it is rather than for granted. This then ultimately leads to resentfulness, frustration, agitation, stress and or depression of sorts when we have to eventually let it go or them go or when they leave us. Even though we knew and know that they are only ever gifts along the way to be enjoyed and experienced for a finite amount of time, we persist in trying to hold onto that we have received in order to validate us or set us apart from what it was originally we lacked or believed would make our lives better in some way, all the while not realising that we had it all regardless and rather than enjoying positivity and its many manifestations which we receive on never ending stream for us and to us for an infinite time. Which positive person from history would you like to meet... THERE are a few but I think ultimately Laozi, who was an ancient Chinese philosopher, writer and author of the Tao Te Ching.

“If you understand others you are smart. If you understand yourself you are illuminated. If you overcome others you are powerful. If you overcome yourself you have strength. If you know how to be satisfied you are rich. If you can act with vigor, you have a will. If you don't lose your objectives you can be long-lasting. If you die without loss, you are eternal.” ― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching MilliOnAir

What is the most positive piece of advice you pass on to people you meet.... I THINK it has to be “be positive”and not just on the outside or in a fake way. I mean from inside, within you and to yourself. All of my troubles and I mean all, are when I look outward, when I compare and despair to what I think I should be, rather than what I am. It's the same when I let my circumstances rule my thinking and stifle my positivity, believing that what is happening cannot or will not change. So, yes, be positive to oneself and within oneself, it’s what we are naturally good at.

''I watched Abel Farreras 4:44 which I have to say had a very profound affect on me. Its a very existentialist piece and maybe to some who view a rather bleak prospect, but it ignited in me a sense of comfort and understanding about coming to terms with our mortality and what we can do to embrace the inevitable.''

What is the most positive song on your play list. HAS to be 5th Dimension's “Aquarius/let the sunshine in” - it’s just funky, good and always makes me laugh and I loved it when they used the track for the play out on the movie:The 40-YearOld Virgin.

How do you deal with negative people.... I DON'T or at least try not too. Usually it’s not the actual person or people but rather what they’ve done or the effect we believe they have or allow them to have on us which affects us. But the truth is (and it’s hard for me to practice, but I do try) is that there’s nothing that can be done except perhaps give them space to get on with it and do something positive that they too may even be able to benefit from and by doing so allow them to see and do something about their own negativity. After all it is theirs so let them keep it by taking on a positive action of forgiveness.

What is the most positive film you have watched... IT has to be It's a Wonderful Life”as a classic but more recently I watched Abel Farreras 4:44 which I have to say had a very profound affect on me. Its a very existentialist piece and maybe to some who view a rather bleak prospect, but it ignited in me a sense of comfort and understanding about coming to terms with our mortality and what we can do to embrace the inevitable. We need to unlock the insecurities and dependency on being in this form and trust maybe more the stability, clarity, confidence, appreciation and journey of what we are, which is in a sense, that of being formless and ever changing, much like the creative process. If you could sit down with five positive people who would they be and what qualities would they bring.... Number one Laozi, American philosopher Wayne Dyer, life coach Tony Robbins, former US President Barack Obama and American singer and songwriter Nina Simone. There are more than this but these people all bring with them a sense of self, understanding, wisdom, insight and observation of self and an openness to possibility and positivity for various reasons.

What is the most positive piece of of advice you have been given - when, where and by whom.... A QUOTE I think on everyday and try to incorporate into my daily understanding is one by the aforementioned Wayne Dyer, who has now passed on and it is:

“We are called human “beings” not “doings” This sums up the madness that we can sometimes find ourselves in and be overwhelmed with by the way we are taught to acquire and strive to do in order to be something in life, when actually if we embrace the positive nonfiction of “being” we find we have acquired more than we could ever hope to gain and achieve.

Do you get positivity from religion or spirituality.... RELIGION for me and from my personal experiences and interactions with it, seems to be more about man's limited way of trying to contain or take control of dealing with a faith that they can’t quite fathom or understand fully so they persist in throwing this life and present tense to the hope of a better life possibly here but more importantly after this one and so this becomes more about trying to better oneself to leave this life rather than better oneself in and for this life which is a wonderful gift to have been given as the next is already very much taken care of. Spirituality, however, is for me about connecting to that which is not to be understood and a constant source on which to actively take guidance wisdom and strength in for the“now”while we are alive so we can actually enjoy and benefit ourselves and others in the process while we align and get ready for transition to the next.

How do you react positively to fear.... TO know that it is only just that.Fear consumes us and certainly me in more ways and more times than I’d like to mention and the only time it seems to dissipate effectively is when I allow myself to face it and know that it is not of any real substance and so ultimately has no real affect (Easier said than done though). Who is the most positive person in your life....

''IT should be myself or ourselves, but I think it has to be my two boys, aged 10 and two. Their freedom within themselves is overwhelmingly beautiful and positive. Children certainly hold the teachings and are definitely our best tutors in life.'' What is the key to you being resilient.... I DON'T know if I am particularly resilient, I don’t really see myself as that, but I guess it's down to the fact that fundamentally I truly do believe that life is beautiful. What is your inspirational catchphrase.... “YOU'RE a spiritual being having a human experience, not a human being seeking a spiritual one”it's not a direct quote as such, but it comes from my understanding of the readings of Wayne Dyer. I quoted above and it's what I use to help me remember what is actually happening while I’m here when I feel out of sync.

“YOU'RE a spiritual being having a human experience, not a human being seeking a spiritual one” MilliOnAir

Where in the world are you in your most positive state.... OUTSIDE of the UK I have a very deep contentment when I am at Venice Beach in Los Angeles. The water and being near to it helps me wherever I am but for some reason when I’m in Venice Beach I feel an almost overwhelming sense of connection there and ease even though I can see and know there are difficulties there for certain. It just makes me feel very content. In the UK it's definitely more about being near rivers or the sea that allows me to feel connected, so visits to the Southbank always help when I am in London.

Venice Beach in Los Angeles

If you could be known for one positive achievement in your life what would it be.... OF being a father. If my sons can take with them any learning understanding or comfort in their lives from my life and work then although I may not be here to see that out in its entirety at least I know it can be with them and passed on through eternity. MilliOnAir

In what way have you felt loved in your life.... IN so many ways and in so many situations, some of which wouldn’t necessarily seem to be loving, but fortunately love is and has been always available and offered, but to to write that would take some time. If you were a superpower leader what positive act would you give to the world....

STOP trying so hard. What time of the day do you find the most positive.... I'M not sure there is one, probably because when I am positive the time of day to me is totally irrelevant. What aspect of your own positivity or negativity would you change.... I DON"T think I would change anything to be honest but more so try to understand my positivity and negativity which is what I am having to do more and more. My hope is that the changes will then happen within me and for me without my getting in the way of myself thinking I know what’s best all of the time.

Peter Gabriel Reflections Iconic Photographs in Bath by Clive Arrowsmith (1978) Coming to MoBA December 2018 The Museum of Bath Architecture is delighted to announce an amazing exhibition of previously unseen photographs by internationally acclaimed photographer Clive Arrowsmith. Clive who is famous for his work with Vogue, The Pirelli calendar and his images of global superstars like David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney, Daniel Barenboim, Prince Charles, Michael Caine, Helena Bonham Carter and the Dalai Lama to name just a few. In 1978 Clive Arrowsmith photographed Peter Gabriel in a number of key architectural locations around Bath, such as the Abbey and Roman Baths and near Solsbury Hill (which is the title of a classic Gabriel track released in 1977). Gabriel had recently left the band Genesis to start a solo career when these images where shot. Clive first photographed Peter Gabriel for Vogue in the early 70s (when he was still with Genesis). The Bath shoot was their second shoot together and pursues a more surrealistic and intimate vision than their first which came about after Peter called Clive and asked him to come to Bath. The Vogue images were more bound up in the progressive rock pageantry of Genesis. Visitors will see images from both shoots. Additionally there will be other images from Clive’s extensive body of work, including images of The Dalai Lama, David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Mick Ronson and Kate Bush. There will be a programme of exciting events and talks by Clive Arrowsmith, which will take place at the beautiful No.15 Great Pulteney Street Hotel. There will also be a studio photography workshop and Clive will be running a very special live Photo-booth where museum visitors can have their portrait taken by one of the most influential portrait photographers of today (booking in advance for this is advised). The Exhibition opens 1st December. Normal admission prices apply. Check website for more details: museumofbatharchitecture.org.uk

Architectural Photographer of the Year 2018 If you love photography you’ll love this This year we launch our first annual photography competition. Architecture is all around us, virtually everywhere we go there is some kind of building, structure or space. Photography is now the most accessible format of recording our lives especially with the development of the smart phone. The Museum of Bath Architecture is exploring the intrinsic link between Architecture and Photography and the way in which we engage in the built environment through photos. As such we want to see how others interpret buildings and man-made structures. The competition has two main categories: 1. Open Architecture (split into Adult & Junior sections) looking at photography of architecture taken anywhere in the world. Be bold, be creative! 2. The city of Bath UK. Open to all ages this category looks at the wonderful architecture of this World Heritage Site City. The top ten selected images will be printed and framed for display at the 2019 exhibition at the Museum of Bath Architecture; after the exhibition these will be offered to the successful entrants. Prizes will be awarded to first place winners from each category.

Aquarella

FROM MIAMI TO MYKONOS Aquarella is a stunning 43 metre luxury yacht, with the capacity to birth twelve guests and eight crew. Her unique interior boasts sumptuous Lora Piana fabric walls, bespoke fittings and unique Art by renowned celebrity photographer Lorenzo Agius. One of Agius’s most famous portraits of a blindfolded Angelina Jolie adorns the salon wall and it’s the very first thing one sees when boarding Aquarella. It is very much an apropos piece that ties in well with the yacht’s intriguing past.

Aquarella is majestic and beautiful and has somewhat of an interesting history. She was once parked outside the infamous record producer Scott Storch’s Miami mansion on star-island and previously named Tiffany. Storch’s impressive catalogue of hit songs range from Beyonce, 50 Cent, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey to name but a few. It seems he is responsible for all our favourite 90’s hits. One can only imagine the A list stars that partied on this magnificent yacht purchased at the time for twenty million by Storch.

MilliOnAir

Due to Storchs excessive party life style, and addiction to the good life, Storch found himself going down quicker than the Titanic and unfortunately for Tiffany she was abandoned. Tiffany lay in a Greek marina slowly deteriorating for six year battling the elements. Her faith seemed foreordained. This once music haven was now a washed up shell and shadow of her former self. Not everyone can spot a diamond in the rough. It took one man to come along and take Tiffany and turn her into Aquarella. Aquarella translates to Watercolour in the Greek language. Vasileios Antoniades could see just how unique the structure of this yacht was and with an award winning interior yacht designer Ioanna Marinopoulos the sketches began. Regardless of how times Antoniades was told he was crazy to take on such an

inconceivable project, only he could see the jewel that was waiting to sparkle. He forged ahead with a top team and started the ambitious journey of resurrecting Tiffany and turning her into Aquarella. And that he did! Now Aquarella hosts everyone from Presidents to Princesses to Popes. Where once music royalty sat now real royalty sits. A yacht with so much history it begs to ask the question “If these walls could talk what would they say”. This beauty now mainly spends her days traveling the Ionian and Aegean Sea, frequenting Europes In Vogue and popular Greek islands, from Mykonos to Santorini, although Aquarella’s Captain and crew know a few secret special places that are still hidden treasures from the rest of the world and if you are lucky enough to stay on Aquarella the Captain may just take you. A SENSATIONAL JOURNEY TO SPLIT

By Travel Editor Emma Harrison

I think we can all agree that autumn is finally here, so when I was invited to spend 36 hours in Croatia’s second-largest city, Split, the prospect of balmy Mediterranean weather coupled with an exciting itinerary thanks to our friends at the Radisson Blue Split, I could hardly say no! One of the best things about the city of Split is that it is just over two hours flight from London and what a city it is - it strikes the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary and has unique setting thanks to the spectacular mountains that act as a remarkable backdrop to the stunning aquamarine Adriatic Sea.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Split, a modern beachfront hotel surrounded by pretty gardens with the most glorious views of the Dalmatian coastline and Adriatic Sea. We arrived just in time for the grand unveiling of the hotels new wing (which formed part of an impressive £9 million expansion programme) which hosts 69 gorgeous boutique-style rooms, complete with a glass-fronted balcony which affords breathtaking views of the sea. The hotel is stunning and has a cool, contemporary décor which includes nautical-inspired artwork, glass staircases and intriguing light installations. Relaxation is the name of the game at the Radisson Blu, it has two swimming pools, a spa with a sauna, whirlpool and steam room. The spa itself is very impressive and offers a wide range of treatments (using Elemis products) including the most relaxing massages. We spent our first night at the hotel’s Caper Grill restaurant where we were treated to a delicious dinner of locally-caught seabass and steak which was paired with a wide range of wines which included Croatia’s finest Pošip wine. Our friendly sommelier even gave us an in-depth

The juxtaposition between the cosmopolitan ‘Riva’ waterfront and the Old Town (which is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage list) reinforces the striking contrast in Split. The enchanting Old town is a labyrinth of historic streets, cosy cafes and seafood restaurants. Whilst it is always fun to explore the local area yourself, we opted to hire a local tour guide who enthralled us with tales of days of yore. Our first stop was Diocletian's Palace is at the heart of the Old town and is one of the best-preserved and most valuable examples of Roman architecture not just on the Adriatic coast, but in the world. Its sprawling underground catacombs provides an intriguing insight into the region’s

Roman history. Diocletian's Palace is just one of the many locations where popular TV show ‘Game of Thrones’ is filmed. In fact, the basement of the palace is the place where the dragons are kept, and Split’s Papali eva Street was the setting for the renowned ‘Slave Rebellion’ scene.

the pretty island of Bra which is famed for its café culture, windsurfing and its olive oil production. As we drive up to Vidova Gora which is the highest mountain and one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Adriatic. Totally instagrammable!

The city of Split is so much more than just a gateway to the nearby islands, We also walked up to the Cathedral it is a cosmopolitan city that still and Bell Tower of St. Domnius, where holds a unique charm. From its local singers converge and perform for delicious cuisine to its rich history, tourists, singing haunting melodies of there is truly something for everyone traditional Dalmatian songs known and you won’t even need a ‘Split’ as Klapa. second to decide to pay this fantastic city a visit. After a hearty lunch of Dalmatian cuisine at a local cafe, we walked down the Riva waterfront and headed off in a zippy speed boat to
