New tech training center opens in Milwaukee in 'TechHire Community' initiative On Monday, March 20, 2017, the first group of students began information technology (IT) training through Employ Milwaukee’s TechHire IT training program. Classes are held at the Milwaukee TechForce Training Center, a partnership between the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM), Employ Milwaukee, Adult Learning Center, St. Francis Church, MATC and MPS. After completing the 10-week program, the students will have earned the industry recognized CompTIA-A Plus certification and gained additional IT skills, making them ready for an entry- or mid-level IT position. Milwaukee Urban League welcomes Dr. Eve Hall as new President and CEO The Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Urban League (MUL) and BMO Harris Bank were proud to partner in welcoming Dr. Eve M. Hall as the Milwaukee Urban League's new president and CEO. The welcoming reception was held downtown at BMO Harris Bank offices, 770 N. Water Street, on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Since taking on her leadership role in January, Dr. Hall has been enhancing the purpose and fine tuning the mission of the nearly century-old organization. During the event Cardinal Stritch University also used the occasion to recognize Dr. Hall as a lifetime faculty fellow for her exemplary work and contributions to the university. Mayor Barrett hosts Masked Ball for UNCF

On Saturday, March 18, 2017 Mayor Tom Barrett hosted the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Masked Ball at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The UNCF Masked Ball is one of Milwaukee's signature fundraising galas and premier social events of the year. Hosted by a diverse group of corporate sponsors and individuals, it brings together local celebrities, dignitaries, civic leaders, volunteers, public officials, alumni and others who support UNCF's mission of investing in America's future. The evening included an awards ceremony, dinner, live auction, and entertainment by Terisa Griffin.
