On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, The Milwaukee Business Journal hosted its annual "Diversity in Business Awards Luncheon" at Tripoli Shrine Center, 3000 West Wisconsin Ave. The Diversity in Business Awards salute the spirit of entrepreneurship, growth and optimism of companies and individuals who are positively impacting central cities in southeast Wisconsin. Mayor Barrett hosts gala 2018 Masked Ball for UNCF On Saturday, March 17, 2018, Mayor Tom Barrett hosted the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Mayor's Masked Ball at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The UNCF Masked Ball is one of Milwaukee's signature fundraising galas and premier social events of the year. Hosted by a diverse group of corporate sponsors and individuals, it brings together local celebrities, dignitaries, civic leaders, volunteers, public officials, alumni and others who support UNCF's mission of investing in America's future. The evening included an awards ceremony, dinner, live auction, and entertainment by Chris Crain. Milwaukee Urban League hosts daughters of the civil rights movement at 'Praying With Their Feet' discussion panel

On Sunday, March 4, 2018, the Milwaukee Urban League along with the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center hosted "Praying With Their Feet" at Pabst Theater, 144 East Wells Street. The panel discussion entitled "Daughters of the Civil Rights Movement" featured Bernice King, daughter of civil rights leaders Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, and Susannah Heschel, daughter of rabbi and civil rights leader Abraham Joshua Heschel. They discussed "Leadership, Legacy and Service" and how they have continued the work of their famous families with host, WUWM's Bonnie North and a live audience.
