Milwaukee Brewers celebrate 71st anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier
On Monday, April 15, 2019, The Milwaukee Brewers celebrated the 71st anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier during their game against the St. Louis Cardinals. As part of the celebration, players donned jerseys sporting the number 42. The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Brian Diggs(center), Milwaukee's Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship winner. Brian is a Milwaukee native and junior at UW-Whitewater majoring in finance. Brian is an active member on campus, serving as student leader in several organization such as the Warhawk Ambassadors. Additionally, he continues to spend time volunteering at Running Rebels. Salvation Army hosts "A Day Just for You" women's free resource fair On Saturday, April 13, 2019, The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County hosted a free resource fair for women entitled, "A Day Just for You!" at the Salvation Army branch, 5880 N. 60th Street. The event offered the attendees a chance for escape from their normal routine and included activities, workshops, speakers and a resource fair with a number of local organizations on hand offering information on health, education, safety, spiritual outreach, lifestyles, and much more.

Mt. Olive MBC says farewell to Rev. and First Lady Patterson On Sunday, April 14, 2019, the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church family gathered together to say good-bye to their Pastor and First Lady of 22 years, Rev. John K. Patterson and First Lady Barbara Patterson(left photo), at Mt. Olive MBC, 5277 N. 36th St. Many church members and members of the community came out to pay their respects to Rev. Patterson, who has spent thirty-four years in ministry proclaiming God's Good Word. The theme for the event was "A Bold and Blessed Future" with a sub-theme of "God Frames Our Lives In Seasons." Congratulations Rev. and First Lady Patterson on all your accomplishments and God bless you both on your future endeavors. Community Baptist Church of Greater Milwaukee pastor Rev. Demetrius K. Williams (lower photo) gave the keynote address at the service.
