North Central Service Club, Inc. awards 12 young women at 44th Annual Scholarship Luncheon On Saturday, May 4, 2019, The North Central Service Club, Inc. (NCSCI) hosted their 44th Annual Scholarship Luncheon at the Four Points by Sheraton-Milwaukee North, 8900 North Kildeer Court. The NCSCI is a community service focused group of local African American women leaders. As part of their community service, NSCCI provides scholarships each year to bright and talented young ladies graduating from area high schools. The keynote speaker this year was Dr. Jacqueline M. Mann (inset, left). MUL celebrates 100th anniversary with "100 Women for 100 Years"

On Monday, April 29, 2019, in celebration of Milwaukee Urban League's (MUL) 100th anniversary, 100+ women leaders came together for an evening of networking and fun! This special event was sponsored by BMO Harris Bank and took place at the Pfister Hotel. The evening ended with each attendee donating $100 to support the programming efforts of MUL. The event was hosted by MUL President and CEO Dr. Eve Hall (front left) and featured such amazing women as Angela Adams, Kris Barrett, Darice Brown, Nafessa Burdine, Patty Cadorin, Sharon Canter, Kareeda Chones-Aguam, Kerry Freiberg, Ellen Gilligan, Cecelia Gore, Beverly Greenberg, Tiffany Henry, Jackie Herd-Barber, Lynda Jackson Conyers, Jocelyn Johnson, Mary Beth Kingston, Kira LaFond, Gail Lione, Martha Love, Elizabeth Luckett, Michelle Nettles, Mildred Pollard, Joan Prince, PhD., Adonica Randall, Thelma Sias, Lynn Sprangers, Mary Ellen Stanek, Cynthia Stokes-Murray, Peggy Williams-Smith and many more.
Pastors United celebrate 6th anniversary by honoring the Black experience through art and culture On Saturday, May 4, 2019, Pastors United hosted their Sixth Annual Dinner Gala and Awards Banquet at Abundant Faith Church of Integrity, 7830 West Good Hope Rd. This year the community advocacy group themed their awards gala around "The Black Experience Through Arts and Culture: Past • Present • Future." Their keynote speaker this year was State Representative Kalan Haywood, II who helped honor a number of local artists, advocates, politicians, and religious leaders from the community. Among those honored were Shelia Payton (right photo) who received the Nathan Conyers Lifetime Service Award, named after the late Milwaukee Times founder (inset), who was influential in the early days of Pastors United. Among those also honored were Darrel Hill and Vedale Hill; the late Gregory Stanford; Clayborn Benson, III; William "Earl" Butler; Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs; Alderman Russell Stamper, II; and André Lee Ellis.
