Milwaukee Urban League Guild hosts 'Annual Health Awareness Day'

On Saturday, May 18, 2019, The Milwaukee Urban League Guild (MULG) hosted their annual "Health Awareness Day," at the Neighborhood House of Milwaukee, 2819 W. Richardson Place. The focus of this year's Health Awareness Day was "Combating Obesity in the Community!" The event had information booths, sessions, and demonstrations on everything from Tai Chi, nutrition, and healthy snacks. Wisconsin Historical Society launches campaign for new Wisconsin History Museum On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, the Wisconsin Historical Society launched their campaign for a new Wisconsin History Museum at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society, 2620 W. Center St. The new Madison based museum will be a state-of-the-art show space to house the extensive collection the Society has. The Wisconsin Historical Society values building relationships with all communities in order to integrate authentic perspectives from diverse populations into the new museum. The Historical Society wants to reflect all communities here in Wisconsin that make it a great place to live. As part of the campaign launch, five of the original chairs from St. Matthew C.M.E. Church were donated to the Historical Society. Mount Moriah M.B.C. celebrates 63rd church anniversary On Sunday, May 19, 2019 Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 416 West Christine Lane, celebrated their 63rd church anniversary. The theme for the event was "63 Years Moving Forward by God's Grace," and the guest speaker was Metropolitan Baptist Church Senior Pastor Rev. Brandle C. Marrow, Sr. The anniversary celebration was attended by church members, community leaders, city officials, church leaders and other invited guests. The event was presided over by Mount Moriah Senior Pastor Rev. Patrick F. Greer, Sr. (right) and First Lady Patricia Greer (left).
