Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee welcomes new President and CEO

On Wednesday, May 29, 2019, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee welcomed their new President and CEO, Kathy Thornton-Bias to the country’s largest Boys & Girls Clubs organization. This special welcoming event was held at the United Way Johnson Controls Volunteer Center, 200 W. Pleasant St. “I’m running one of the most important businesses in the city,” said Thornton-Bias. “I’m in the business of helping children succeed, the business of changing lives one at a time.” Pictured at the event are (from left) Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas; United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County President and CEO Amy Lindner; Milwaukee Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee President and CEO Kathy Thornton-Bias; Milwaukee Boys and Girls Clubs Community Relations Associate Director Deonte Lewis; and Milwaukee Boys and Girls Clubs Board Chair Scott A. Rev. James W. Spann II Foundation hosts 18th Annual Scholarship Luncheon The 18th Annual Reverend James W. Spann II Scholarship Luncheon was held on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Four Points Sheraton Milwaukee Airport, 5311 South Howell Ave. Six high school seniors were awarded scholarships to assist with their college education and career plans. The keynote speaker for the event was Milwaukee Public School Superintendent Dr. Keith Posley. The Spann Scholarship Foundation was established by Dr. Wilma Spann, a retired MPS administrator, in her late husband’s name. The foundation was formed in January, 2001 to continue his ministry and legacy. North Central Service Club honors longtime member, Vera LeBlanc, at annual scholarship luncheon

The North Central Service Club, Inc., held its 44th Annual Scholarship Luncheon on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Four Points Sheraton in Brown Deer. Mrs. Vera LeBlanc (left photo, with yellow flowers), a longtime member of North Central Service Club for more than 40 years, was honored by the organization. Mrs. LeBlanc, a retired educator, was surrounded by family members and friends at the luncheon. Also pictured are two professional leaders who delivered inspiring messages to graduating high school seniors, Linda Miles Carr-Carlson (center photo, right), retired director, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs with her husband, Edward; and Dr. Jacqueline Mann (right photo, center), Milwaukee Public School Board Clerk/Director with her children.
