Riverworks officially opens new City Center On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, the Riverworks Development Corporation (RDC) celebrated the grand opening of their Riverworks City Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new center is situated at 3334 N. Holton St., and contains office space and retail space in one location. Among the businesses already open include a new expanded Family Dollar location, a laundromat and a forth coming clothing retailer. The City Center is just one of the many projects undertaken by the RDC to improve both the Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods. "Riverworks had done an excellent job in promoting economic prosperity in the surrounding neighborhoods," said Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs. On Friday, June 29, 2018, Congresswoman Gwen Moore was joined by Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (DMD) and Democratic Whip Task Force on Poverty, Income Inequality, and Opportunity Chair Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) on their "Pathways Out of Poverty Listening Tour," a tour of agencies and community leaders in Milwaukee, who are on the front lines of the national war against poverty. During their tour Congresswoman Moore, Congressman Hoyer and Congresswoman Lee visited Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership/BIG STEP for a community round table.
