Protecting our environment now and teaching our children and grandchildren this important stewardship responsibility will help protect our natural resources and wildlife for the enjoyment of future generations. 3. We recycle for sustainability in order to preserve a sustainable ecosystem. God has already supplied everything within our ecosystem for life to survive and sustain itself. American Players Theater presents 'The Recruiting Officer' The American Players Theater (APT) is proud to present a hearty comedy with a wicked streak, The Recruiting Officer, by George Farquhar. Directed by APT director William Brown, and featuring the talents of APT actors Kelsey Brennan, Nate Burger, Tim Gittings, Juan Rivera Lebron, Brian Mani, Cristina Panfilio, Jefferson A. Russsell, Andrea San Miguel, and Marcus Truschinski, the play opened on July 6, 2018 and is set to run until September 29, 2018. In The Recruiting Officer, scoundrels are put on notice and women (literally) wear the pants in this resonant English comedy. Recruiting officers travel from port to port wooing men into service at sea, and women into their beds. Two such men, Worthy and Plume, land in Shrewsbury, each in love with a woman who lives there. Worthy has asked Melinda to be his mistress – an offer that she declined. Meanwhile, Plume is in love with Melinda’s cousin Sylvia. But Sylvia, grieving her brother’s recent death, disguises herself as a man to get away for a while, throwing everyone’s plans into comedic chaos. This period-piece farce is staged on

APT 's outdoor amphitheater. APT is a professional theater located just outside Spring Green, Wisconsin. Situated on 110 acres of hilly woods and meadows, APT has two theaters, the newly renovated 1089-seat outdoor amphitheater and the 201-seat indoor Touchstone Theatre. From June through November, APT produces nine plays in rotating repertory. With annual attendance of more than 100,000 and an annual budget in excess of $6 million, APT ranks as the country’s second largest outdoor theater devoted to the classics.

The Recruiting Officer, is the fourth play in the 2018 season, with five more to come this year. For more information or for tickets, please visit the APT website at https:// americanplayers.org/plays, or call the Box Office: 608588-2361.

COMMUNITY COLUMN UWM coach shares hard-earned lessons from the hardwood

By Pat Baldwin Head Coach UWM Men’s Basketball

If you don’t pass, you can’t play. That mantra got drilled into my memory by my parents, and it’s one that I now share with my children and the student-athletes I coach on the basketball team at UW-Milwaukee. It applies on the court and in the classroom. If I didn’t get a passing grade at minimum, in any class, I couldn’t play basketball. I had high standards for myself growing up, but that was a legitimate threat to me, because I loved playing so much. I took it a step forward and incorporated it into my coaching. I always tell my players that if they don’t pass the ball to their teammates on the basketball court, they will not play, either. I found myself repeating that same theme recently while sitting in a circle around the free-throw line. In that circle were this year’s Panthers and several kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. The children came to watch our team practice and engage with our student-athletes afterward. They could learn about the dedication and work ethic it takes to succeed in life, college and possibly athletics. The visit is part of our team’s commitment to be a visible presence in the community, helping in ways that don’t necessarily get us TV time but show people that we care. It was a thrill to see the kids looking up to our players, big guys who’ve found success in life, and our players clearly learned as much or more from the kids. It was a win for us all. Our student-athletes had an opportunity to interact with the kids, who asked them very good questions. Vance Johnson talked about how much education paved a way for him to be in this position at Milwaukee. Tyler Behrendt spoke of perseverance and not allowing naysayers to destroy your dreams, explaining you can do whatever you want in life. DeAndre Abram and Amir Allen talked about hard work and dedication, and how that will allow them to accomplish all of their goals. Bryce Barnes was a great example for all of the kids. He discussed his internship with Roc Nation, a company owned by Jay-Z that represents several professional athletes and other prominent entertainers. Barnes talked about hard work, sacrifice and dedication, as well as the importance of having a plan

for life after basketball. I ended the session by talking to the kids about networking and how so many people will have an impact on their lives. They need to cultivate the relationships they have and remember the experiences that accompany them.

looked up to.

The visit reinforced how much I value our community and want to make sure we play a big role in the lives of Milwaukee’s children. I think we need to take a leadership role, whether it’s boosting spirits or motivating young people to succeed in school. We got a game going, and I just think it’s an added boour guys were great with the nus to our program and the kids while playing a sport city where we study and play. that all of them love. It was great seeing the younger eyes light up when they had 6-foot-8 guys towering above them. I even jumped in there with the kids and recounted my younger days playing and competing against guys I

Michelle Williams 'proudly' seeks help from mental health facility to deal with her battle with depression With the recent suicide deaths of beloved celebrities Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade, there has been more widespread media coverage about the potentially tragic effects of mental illness and depression, resulting in many stars sharing their own personal battles with their fans. Singer Michelle Williams, one-third of Destiny’s Child, has always been vocal about her own struggle with depression and she recently opened up about taking her own advice and getting the help she needs. The 37-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, to share a very importMichelle Williams ant decision she’s made in regards to her mental health. self to increasing awareness of people to recognize when it’s time "For years I have dedicated my- mental health and empowering to seek help, support and guidance

from those that love and care for your wellbeing. I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals," Williams continued. "Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need; if you change your mind, you can change your life." Williams has been vocal about mental health awareness throughout the years and during an interview with The Talk in 2017 even shared her struggle with suicidal thoughts during her prime years as a member of Destiny’s Child.

“I was suicidal, I was to that place where it got so dark and heavy,” she shared. Williams represents the story of many individuals in our everyday lives on a constant battle with depression, some who haven’t gotten the courage to get help. Williams aims to normalize the mental health discussion in society and should be seen as a source of motivation for us all to seek the healthy lifestyle we all deserve.

tes, neurological conditions, sleep apnea, cancer, and thyroid disorder, all can contribute to night sweats. Consumption of hot or spicy foods and alcohol or caffeine also can also be triggers when it comes to night sweats. Infections: People who suffer from tuberculosis may experience night sweats as a side effect. However, tuberculosis isn’t the only bacterial infection linked to night sweats, and others such as abscesses, osteomyelitis, and endocarditis may all cause night sweats too. Emotions: Certain emotions can bring out the best or the worse in ourselves. Emotion-based conditions like stress, anxiety and disturbing dreams can all contribute to night sweats. So, keep a close eye out on what is happening at the time most of your night sweats occur to pinpoint the cause. Idiopathic hyperhydrosis: This condition causes the human body to sweat excessively without an identifiable cause and unfortunately is often genetic. Environment: Excess bedding, close proximity to your partner, hot rooms, warm weather, saunas, tubs, and hot showers all may attribute to night sweats.

Medications: Certain medications can cause night sweats in some people, and anti-depressants are the most common drug to cause it. Other drugs can also cause night sweats, such as diet pills, aspirin, and other non-prescription drugs. Race: Studies have found that the prevalence of night sweats varies by race. One study found that three in four White women experience night sweats. Another found that Black women were more likely to have night sweats than White and Hispanic women put together. Yet, Asian women were the least likely to report night sweats.

On Monday, July 23, 2018, Williams posted on her Twitter account, “Progress not Perfection!” She later added on her Instagram story with the prayer hands, “I feel the [love]! I just wanted to let you guys know I’m better.”

Suffering from summer night sweats? There could be more to it than you think In the heat of the night, when your body’s temperature starts to rise and you seem to just soak up your sheets with sweat, you may chuck it off to too many covers being on your bed. But what if there was more to it than the obvious? Night sweats are medically referred to as “sleep hyperhidrosis.” They are episodes of nighttime sweating, ranging from mild to profuse perspiration. Night sweats

are very much so similar to the hot flashes that can affect menopausal women during the waking hours, but there is a vast difference between the two. Oftentimes, night sweats can be so intense that they interrupt a person’s sleep, which can affect many aspects of their daily life. Common symptoms of night sweats include sudden and intense heat, irregular heartbeat, nausea, flushing, chills,

and headaches. Women, in particular, can experience this most with menopause-related night sweats that range anywhere from mild to severe symptoms, varying in duration and happens most often during their usual sleeping hours. So, if you’re not menopausal, what else could be the cause of your night sweats? Here are the facts. Health condition: Medical causes, such as diabe-

So, what can you do about it? Thankfully there are many simple ways of easing night sweats. Try keeping cold water at hand, wear moisture-wicking nightwear, lower the temperature of your home by using a fan or air conditioning, and avoid spicy foods and caffeine before bedtime. More drastic methods, such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), are also possible treatment options for night sweats. However, make sure to talk to your doctor about more treatment options available.
