Milwaukee Mayor Barrett hosts annual picnic at the zoo
On Saturday, August 24, 2019, Mayor Tom Barrett hosted his annual ‘Zoo Picnic’ fundraiser at the Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd. The mayor hosted the event, which serves as a fundraiser for his campaign. More than 400 people from all areas of the city, of all ages and walks of life attended the event, which gives the mayor a chance to meet informally with Milwaukee citizens and share his ideas for programs and progress for the city, as well as listen to their ideas and thoughts. Attendees got to dine on hamburgers, hotdogs and all the fixin’s, visit the animal exhibits, listen to a live band, and enjoy one of Milwaukee’s most outstanding cultural assets, while meeting old friends and making new acquaintances. This year, the weather cooperated by being just right for the waning days of summer, with few mosquitoes and no rain. Pictured at the event (from left) are Kathie Walker, Mayor Tom Barrett, and Milwaukee Times Editor Jacquelyn Heath.
