son who laughs with whites about “ignorant” black peo ple. This is the type of fool who enforces the white man’s dictates more forcefully than the white man. This is the mind-wiped imbecile who takes pride that his Afri can American children have white spouses or lovers. This is the type of idiot who makes it hard for another Af rican American to get a job at the company they work at. The reason is because the Oreo is scared the other Afri can American may not work out and the whites may look awkwardly at them.

Eradicate the Oreo actions and thoughts that perme ate your mind. Remember, Oreo now makes cookies with chocolate filling.

What positive results come from drugs being pushed in African American neighbor hoods? What positive results come from African Ameri cans dancing and exploiting themselves for one dollar bills? Both of these “profes sions” lead African American youth down a path of crass materialism, incarceration and self degradation. Who benefits from African Amer icans in prison, on poles, strung out, or in the grave yard? The professional Oreo is just as bad as the hood Oreo.

“Every brother ain’t a brother…” Chuck D voiced this in the song, Welcome to the Terrordome. That lyric was true in 1990. It still is true in 2022 with the critical situation the African Ameri can community is in. Afri can Americans, it is time to start identifying people and actions that are tools of the racist white agenda. There fore, African Americans have to unmask the Oreo manip ulation in their community.

The opinions expressed in this editorial are those of the writ er and not of the Milwaukee Times Weekly Newspaper or HT Group, LLC, its staff or management. "Being Frank" is a bi-weekly column exclusive to the Milwaukee Times Weekly News paper.

The music industry is Oreo heaven. There are too many Oreo people and actions in the music industry for me to begin to write about. I will say, look at the murder rate in the African American community and think about the impact gangster rap has made in the last 30 years. African Americans, it is time to wake up to the fact that many of us have been acting in an Oreo fashion.

I could go on for pages talking about the Oreo ac tions in professional sports, politics, etc. I won’t. I will say, look around you, Afri can Americans. Before you do this, look into a mirror.

The insidious part of the Oreo aspect of the white agenda is the fact you can’t see it unless you know what to look for. For example, in the USA there are thousands of African American teach ers in schools. Many unwit tingly introduce and enforce white supremacy through the curriculum. In the fashion industry many African Amer icans are unknowingly push ing white agenda clothing.

education can be a transformative experience that can change the trajectory of a student’s life, says Marc Young, UWM admissions director.

Increasing access to higher education requires knocking down long-standing barriers, Young said. That’s something UWM is attacking by streamlining the application process, removing application fees and setting aside funds to help more students obtain the full college experience.

Born and raised in Detroit, Marc Young moved to Stevens Point for college, which was a major culture shock. For example, while older adults tend to use preventive health services less frequently than younger or middle-aged adults, a study Kim cowrote in the journal Preven tive Medicine shows that the more satisfied people over 50 are with how they’re aging, the more likely they’ll have their cholesterol tested or be screened for breast, cervical or prostate cancer.

Sometimes people lose mo bility as they age and may not be able to engage in the activities that brought them joy when they were younger. Kim suggests trying to “re deploy that energy in a new way,” such as teaching a skill or craft instead of practicing it.Or learn something new that is less physically de manding, Giasson said. Re search suggests that older adults who learn new skills can improve memory, self-es teem and overall quality of life.“Don’t fall into the mind set that it’s too late to try something new,” she said. “It’s never too late, and you’re never too old to explore new interests.”

But it cuts both ways. While having a positive at titude can lead to behaviors that promote good health, “if people believe poor health is inevitable with age, this can be a self-fulfilling prophecy that keeps them from be haviors that will help with aging,” said Kim, who also is an affiliate researcher at the Center for Health and Hap

“People’s purposes can be quite different,” he added. If family is a high priority, find things to do that contribute to the family, such as helping to care for grandchildren. If conservation is a strong val ue, find projects that contrib ute to the health of the envi ronment,” Kim suggested.

“What typically happens is people stop making new friends. Re-engage mecha nisms for meeting people that were there earlier in life,” he added, such as joining a club or taking part in community organizations. “Reach out to people more, instead of be ing on autopilot.”

Social isolation and loneli ness are risk factors for poor physical and mental health, increasing the risk for heart attacks and strokes and con tributing to poor life satisfac tion, depression, low self-es teem and difficulty with daily life activities. But research shows maintaining social connections can have a pos itive effect on health.

Published in JAMA Net work Open, the study found those with the highest satis faction with aging had a 43 percent lower risk of dying from any cause during four years of follow-up compared to those with the lowest sat isfaction. People with higher satisfaction also had a reduced risk for chronic conditions such as diabetes, stroke, can cer and heart disease, as well as better cognitive function ing. People with a more pos itive attitude about growing old also were more likely to engage in frequent physical activity and less likely to have trouble sleeping than their less-satisfied peers. Several studies over the past 20 years suggest people with more positive attitudes about aging live longer, healthier lives than those with negative perceptions of the aging pro cess. Recently, a large nation wide study of nearly 14,000 adults over age 50 took an even deeper look into the ways in which positive think ing about aging could impact a person’s physical health, health behaviors and psycho logical well-being.

Kim said it’s important to make new connections to re place those you’ve lost.
