Reid's New Golden Gate Funeral Home hosts annual 'Celebration of Love'

On Friday, December 9, 2016 Reid's New Golden Gate Funeral Home hosted its annual "Celebration of Love" at the Crowne Plaza, 6401 South 13th Street. Family members, friends, pastors and church leaders from Chicago, Racine and Milwaukee were in attendance to salute and celebrate the prominent couple in grand style. The evening affair featured an eight course buffet dinner, and an uplifting gospel message by Pastor Keith T. Evans of Greater Mt. Eagle Baptist Church in Racine WI, who acknowl-

edged the business support the Reids have received from the religious community. The Reids have three funeral home locations, two on Milwaukee's northwest side and a location in Racine. Milwaukee Urban League hosts 57th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon

On Wednesday, December 7, 2016 the Milwaukee Urban League hosted their 57th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon at the Pfister Hotel in Downtown Milwaukee. The Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon is the second largest fundraising event of the year for the Milwaukee Urban League. Each year the Urban League honors those who further the cause of the Urban League in the community and in the boardroom. This year's recipients included Generation Growth Capital, Inc. Founder and Managing Director Cory Nettles; WE Energies Vice President of Local Affairs Thelma Sias; Gorman & Company Chief Operating Officer Tom Capp; and former MillerCoors Director of Multicultural Relations Larry Waters. Northwest Family Center hosts 3rd Annual Mrs. O'Bee's Toy House

On Sunday, December 11, 2016, Northwest Family Activity and Events Center, 4104 W. Good Hope Road hosted its 3rd Annual Mrs. O'Bee's Toy House. The event was open to children (2 - 10 years old) and their families. Children were able to pick out one free toy, take a photo with Santa, and enjoy special Christmas treats provided by friends of Mrs. O'Bee. All toys that were left over were donated to the Salvation Army, House of Peace, and the Daily Bread. The event center is open to the public to host special events.
