Victory over violence peace rally: 'Intra-community violence has got to stop' By Steve Waring Special to the Milwaukee Times They came slowly north along Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive on a humid Saturday morning during a march, part of a Victory Over Violence Peace Rally held July 11. The march concluded at Martin Luther King Elementary School with speakers, free t-shirts, games for children and refreshments. Fortunately the march did not double as a funeral procession, although that tragedy very nearly came to pass the night before when a 15-year-old African American young man was shot in the stomach as he exited

the public basketball courts on the opposite side of the school where the rally was held the next morning. Police have no leads as to the identity of the shooter. Many of the estimated 250 participants seemed unaware of the shooting until Mayor Tom Barrett brought it up, encouraging participants to look at the makeshift memorial created for the victim. “In this city in this week, two teenaged boys, African American boys were shot and killed by other teenaged Staff Photo boys,” Mayor Barrett said. “And last night we had an- Members of Muhammad Mosque #3, located at 4202 N. As part of the tribute, Brewers players wore Milwaukee Bears uniforms. The Pirates also participated in the tribute by wearing uniforms from the “Pittsburgh Crawfords.” The Brewers defeated the Pirates 8-5.

During a pregame ceremony and tribute game on July 18, the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club honored former Negro League players and contributors Gilbert Hernandez Black and James Beckum. Both were inducted into the Yesterday’s Negro League Hall of Fame at the Mother Kathryn Daniels Center located at 3500 W. Mother Daniels Way on the grounds of Milwaukee’s Holy Redeemer Church on July 19. Mr. Beckum, who began playing Negro League Baseball when he was 21, during the days of segregation, has a Little League field named after him in Milwaukee. Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. Pictured (from left) are Dennis Biddle, Lonie Harris, William McCrary, Reggie Howard, Marie “Peanut” Johnson, Gilbert Hernandez Black, James Beckham, Ray B. Knox and W. James Cobbin.

Correction An article and cutline about the Social Development Commission (SDC) on page one of the July 16, 2015 issue contained incorrect information about the amount of funding the agency lost when its Energy Assistance program was not renewed for 2016. The amount of Energy Assistance the SDC received in 2015 was $1.6 million, slightly less than a 9 percent funding reduction for 2016. The Milwaukee Times Weekly Newspaper regrets the error.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) announced on July 21, 2015, that it received a $500,000 gift from longtime BGCGM supporter and former Senator Herb Kohl to extend its summer service schedule. The official announcement of the gift and the summer extension was made by Vincent Lyles, President & CEO of BGCGM, together with community leaders Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn, and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Tuesday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Don & Sallie Davis Boys & Girls Club at 1975 S. 24th Street, Milwaukee. This gift allows BGCGM to continue to provide a safe place for kids every day in August, the first time that BGCGM has been able to provide this for their families. Through the extended programming, BGCGM will continue to provide safe places and full-day activities for more than 5,000 kids aged five through eighteen who attend the Clubs each day. BGCGM gives its members access to caring adults and offers opportunities to participate in structured activities at a critical time during the summer when many kids may otherwise be unsupervised. During the extra pro-

gram weeks in August, the Clubs will serve more than 70,000 meals to its members. “I believe Boys & Girls Clubs are a valuable resource for our city, and I am happy to be able to contribute to the enrichment and safety of local youth for the entire summer,” said Senator Kohl. “We are thankful Senator Kohl chose to invest in our future generation of leaders,” said Vincent Lyles, president & CEO of BGCGM. BGCGM is working in partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) to offer the extended weeks of programing in August. As a result, 22 BGCGM clubs will be extending their programming, bringing the total number of clubs open in August to 36. Of the 36 clubs, 30 locations will be open through Friday, August 14 and six locations will be extended through Friday, August 28. MPS will supply meals for club members at its school-based Club locations during the extended summer schedule. This announcement comes at a time when violence and homicide victims in Milwaukee, specifically involving youth, has far surpassed anything seen in recent years.

Rebuilding Our Community

3

By Dr. Andrew Calhoun, Ed.D. Special to the Milwaukee Times

When mentoring matters In every major city in our nation, there are numerous agencies and organizations that offer some kind of mentoring for youth. The size and scale of the mentoring program being offered depends largely upon whether or not it is a primary objective, mission or vision for that organization. It also depends if it is being funded through a grant, receives special funding from some other interested party or is of a particular interest to the agency leader, the board, team members or the general staff. It is certainly a nice talking point and makes for an enriching conversation among friends, community partners, business leaders and civic officials. Mentoring is a process we all know something about and perhaps grew up involved in as a mentee and perhaps now serve as a men-

tor. Throughout all our lives, we had those caring adults, older students, teachers, coaches, a counselor, neighbors, church parishioners or a family member who gave us some much needed advice or just took us under their wings to show us the way and how thing are done. In so many ways mentoring can be seen as “life coaching” and

has always been something done one-on-one, in a group, joining a club or being on a team. Measuring any mentoring program effectiveness continues to be hard to measure by any standard and is open for debate. Today, mentoring takes on many forms and shapes, even if we do not see it as mentoring. Mentoring does not

boy was shot by a teenaged boy… Teenagers should not have guns,” the Mayor implored. Alderman Joe Davis, Sr., (2nd District) has already announced his intention to

run against Mayor Barrett in 2016. He also spoke at the peace rally, agreeing with Mayor Barrett that getting rid of guns was a necessary first step. “Violence is not something

have to be something that is so rigid or inflexible. It can be something that occurs on a schedule, over time, a specific time table, date, weekly, by topic, and includes a conversation during a planned outing or over lunch. And with modern technology and social media now in play, mentoring or aspects of mentoring as well as a mentoring conversation can take place on a whole new dimension. Developing and building an effective mentoring program for any age group is quite a challenge and that is not an understatement. It is a tall order. In any regard, it takes a considerable amount of time to create, to recruit mentors, screenings, conducting training sessions, paper work, and background checks and to maintain communication. Mentoring is needed, mentoring is neces-

that just started happening today,” Alderman Davis said. “My assessment is that it is down to a lack of will to provide a better standard of life for black folks here in Milwaukee.” Jermaine Reed, executive director at Fresh Start Family Services and the event director, said he knew of the shooting prior to the Mayor’s announcement and decided not to publicize it out of concern it might cause people to stay away unnecessarily. Mr. Reed said he first became motivated to start an intra-racial dialogue in April after a two-year-old African American boy darted out into the street and was struck and killed by an African motorist who was himself shot and killed allegedly by the boy’s uncle. The little boy’s 15-year-old brother, who had run to his aid, was also shot and killed during the melee. A few days later the alleged

sary and it is what is missing for a large segment of this current younger generation, especially those age 16-24 and involved in Juvenile Court. I currently am working with the WestCare Wisconsin, Face Forward program to develop a quality mentoring team. Putting this mentoring team together is a challenge. A few of my biggest problems are trying to find caring adults who want to make a difference in the lives of a new generation and additional funding for mentors. If interested, give me a call... you are needed and welcomed. Dr. Andrew Calhoun, can be contacted at andrewiiicalhoun@ gmail.com, and Facebook. gunman shot and killed himself as police began to focus on him as the prime suspect. “Intra-community violence has got to stop,” said Mr. Reed. “That’s my message, but that doesn’t mean I can’t work with people who have other interests. Where there is unity there is strength. All interested groups need to work together.” Sponsors of the event included: Fresh Start Family Services, New Pitts Mortuary, King of Glory International Christian Center, GSI General, Inc., and MarioDickensCreations. com An organizing meeting which Mr. Reed said is open to anyone interested in stopping black-on-black violence is scheduled for August 1 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., at 1720 W. The Counseling Corner

By Rev. Judith T. Lester, B.Min. M.Th

Healthy living (conclusion) In the conclusion of this series on healthy living, the attention will shift this week to one’s spiritual health. Soul care Fitness gyms are crammed with people who do not want to pay the cost of ignoring their bodies, but too often believers suffer from the opposite malady: an apparent unconcern with matters pertaining to spiritual health. The soul of every believer should be yearning and longing “for the living God” (Psalm 42:2a, NIV). The Psalmist compared his thirst for God to a deer’s thirst for water. He says: “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God…” The Psalmist pictured himself like a deer on the run in desperate search of nourishment. As water is to a deer, so God’s presence should be for His people. C.H. Spurgeon in a sermon titled “The Panting Deer” wrote: David compares himself to a stag when tormented with thirst. The comparison brings out, in the first place, as the characteristic of this

desire, directness. The deer pants—what for? You need not repeat the question or pause for a reply. Everybody can see, by its smoking flanks, uplifted head, its palpitating heart, its rolling eyes, its thrust-out tongue—that it is panting for the water brooks. So with David—he is ill at ease, but it is no question with him what he needs to give him rest of heart— “So pants my soul after You, O God,” he says, and so he goes at once to the point. He knew where he was—there is no beating about the bush, no tacking to and fro—he directs his arrow straight at the center of the target. “My soul thirsts for God—for the living God.” Beloved, it is a great mercy when you and

I know what we need, for ungodly men do not know. They thirst, but like petulant children, they know not what they are crying for. They long, and they pant, and their question is, “Who will show us any good?” But you and I know that our great need is the light of God’s Countenance! When believers are thirsty and their souls are in need of nourishment, believers can go to God who is the only One that can satisfy our soul’s deepest thirst. (Isaiah 55:1, John 7:38, Matthew 5:6). Even when the enemy [Satan] pursues as a predator, believers can immerse themselves in God’s presence and find protection. When there is no hunger for the presence

of God, it is an indicator that something is wrong spiritually. The following spiritual habits are provided to assist the believer in experiencing a deeper level of knowing God, thus contributing to one’s overall quest for living a healthier lifestyle: • Quiet time – Carve out time in your daily schedule for regular time with God. • Prayer - Withdraw to commune with God in prayer. • Journaling - Record your spiritual journey and the daily examples of His providence. Beloved, the bottom line is hewing to the recommendations for living a healthy lifestyle is a matter of choice and you can choose today to begin eating and living healthier. One cannot change the past, but one can certainly make better choices for themselves and their family for the future. Living a healthier lifestyle and providing daily maintenance for the “temple” is a daily challenge, but remember life is lived just once. Believers are encouraged to live it to the glory of God! (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Clarke St. home owner's passion for gardening is in full bloom Every year since she bought her house at N. 46th and West Clarke Streets, in 1989, Jacqueline Carson has enlarged and diversified her flower gardens. The house and yard are a treat for the eyes as both have been maintained in excellent condition. Jacqueline shrugged off compliments about the house by saying it needed repainting, but her pride in her garden is evident. Now that she has planted most of the flowers, Jacqueline said that the majority of the work is watering and weeding. Her daughter and granddaughter also help out and between the three of them, Jacqueline said the garden requires about 15 hours a week to maintain. Jacqueline, who is a student at MATC working toward a counseling degree, said she inherited her love of gardening from her parents. She is encouraging not just members of her own family, but others on her block who Jacqueline said have begun planting flowers and making the entire block look nicer. “Part of the reason I do this is to glorify God and His creation,” she said. “So many people tell me how peaceful they feel when they come by.”

Mayor Barrett unveils new street mural project on Hopkins Street Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, with street mural artist Ammar Nsoroma directly to his left, participates in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the unveiling of a street mural at 1503 W. Hopkins St. The project was sponsored in part by Artists Working in Education (AWE) and Wisconsin Bike Fed. Approximately two dozen young adults in grades 5 through 8 participated, preparing the street surface for paint, cutting out stencils and the actual painting. The project was held in conjunction with a “Safe Routes to School Bike Camp,” a twoweek bike safety course. The mural is composed of Adinkra symbols of West Africa. A major thunderstorm blew in overnight, but fortunately the rain held off until organizers could cover the mural

Student to UWM mentor: ‘Thank you for being a role model’ Violence involving young people gets plenty of media attention. The good news – that people all over the city are working for positive change – doesn’t always get as much attention, said Robert Smith of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Smith is one of many who are working quietly in partnership with other leaders to make policy changes and mentor young people. At UWM, Smith is Associate Vice Chancellor, Global Inclusion and Engagement, an associate professor of history, and executive director of the university’s Cultures & Communities program. With support from the university for his efforts, he is one of a number of many partners in the community that focus on young people of color and their futures. For example, in collaboration with Larry Miller, vice president of the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, Smith helped write a “Black Lives Matter,” resolution, which Miller introduced. The resolution committed Milwaukee Public Schools to re-

In addition, Smith has been mentoring a group of young black men at Wauwatosa West High School. West’s principal, Frank Calarco, thanked the university for that partnership: “Simply put this has been the best intervention that I have been a part of in my

25 years of education. Although I used the term intervention, Dr. Smith uses a pro-active approach to help these young men realize how much potential they have.” Smith is quick to point out that he is only one of many people working on these urgent issues. “There is a lot of great work being done across the city.” That work involves people of all races and cultures. The school board resolution called for setting up an advisory council of community

UWM summit. After meeting Smith, she asked him if he’d be willing to mentor interested African American male students at West. The program there is voluntary, and offers the students a safe place to talk about everything from becoming a man to sexuality to integration to academics. “It’s a really meaningful program that we would not have been able to do without his volunteer help,” Kirchman said. Like many teens, the 20 students in the group have chosen their role models mostly from sports or entertainment figures. But working with Smith has helped expand their ideas of what their futures can be. The students are enthusiastic about the program, Kirchman said. “You have expanded my mind and vision in amazing ways,” one wrote in a thankyou note. Another wrote: “I want to be just like you. Thank you for being a role model."

members, parents, educators and students to assist in reviewing and creating curriculum and policy related to issues raised by the Black Lives Matter Movement. And while the Black Lives Matter movement is used to frame the concerns, the issues also involve Latino, Hmong, LGBT and other groups of young people, according to Smith and Miller. “We framed the resolution around Black Lives Matter, but we see the connections with other long-standing issues affecting young people,” they said. These issues include inequality, lack of opportunity, little recognition of unique cultures, discipline policies, and the need to reverse the “school-to-prison” pipeline that impacts so many. Smith’s involvement at Wauwatosa West grew out of annual summits for young black men that UWM has held for the past three years. Wauwatosa West teacher Rebecca Kirchman, adviser to the school’s Black Student Union, brought a group of students to the 2013

School begins August 3 for the 11 MPS schools using a year-round calendar. To help ensure students ready to get back into classrooms, the MPS-operated schools on the calendar are hosting two back-to-school events. The Milwaukee Public Schools year-round back-toschool events are: • Thursday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MPS’ Nathaniel Hawthorne School, 6945 N. 41st Street, Milwaukee 53209, just south of Brown Deer Park near 41st and Good Hope • Friday, July 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MPS’ Alliance School, 850 W. Walnut Street, Milwaukee 53205, just north of downtown and east of I-43 Families will have the opportunity to win backpacks and school supplies and the events include games, treats and roller skating. Limited seats are still available for the 2015-16 school year at many MPS schools and families will also have the opportunity to enroll at the events. Children enrolled in Milwaukee Public Schools’ yearround schools should be in school all day, every day – starting with “Day One,” the very first day of school. Research shows that students who increase attendance also

increase their academic success. MPS schools on the yearround calendar have a shorter summer break but longer fall, winter and spring breaks. Students spend the same number of days in school. Limited seats are still open in some year-round schools. Interested families may enroll at the back-to-school events or at mpsmke.com/ enrollMPS. The 10 MPS-operated year-round calendar schools are: • The Alliance School of Milwaukee (9-12) • Community High School (9-12) • Congress School (K4-8) • Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School (K4-5) • Ralph H. Metcalfe School (K4-8) • River Trail School (K4-8) • Silver Spring Elementary School (K4-5) • Frances Brock Starms Early Childhood Center (K3-K5) • Frances Brock Starms Discovery Learning Center (18) • Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning (K4-12)

Why Alzheimer’s affects Blacks differently of brain changes that included infarcts and Lewy bodies, the researchers said. But among 41 black patients who died, about 20 percent displayed only the usual Alzheimer’s plaques and tangles. Almost all the rest — more than 70 percent — experienced infarcts and Lewy bodies on top of the usual Alzheimer’s brain changes. Blacks also had more freAlzheimer’s disease seems to develop differently in the brains of black patients than in whites. And, black people seem more likely to suffer different types of brain changes that also contribute to dementia, a new study reports. Alzheimer’s disease dementia is generally associated with a build-up of substances known as plaques and tangles inside the brain. But, there are other brain changes that can also contribute to dementia, the study authors noted. For example, the brains of people with dementia sometimes contain infarcts — tiny areas of dead tissue caused by micro-strokes, the researchers explained. They also might contain Lewy bodies — another form of abnormal protein build-up in the brain that’s usually associated with Parkinson’s disease. Autopsies of black and white Alzheimer’s patients revealed that blacks were more likely than whites to experience a mix of dementiarelated changes, as opposed

to the damage usually associated with “pure” Alzheimer’s dementia, according to the study. “We were surprised that the African Americans were much more likely to have a mixed picture,” said lead author Lisa Barnes, a professor of neurology and behavioral science at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. “The underlying brain changes were different, which indicates that they probably had different risk factors.” The study findings were published online July 15 in advance of print publication in the journal Neurology. Dementia isn’t a specific disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. Instead, dementia refers to a wide range of symptoms, such as memory loss and communication problems, that are significant enough to interfere with daily life, the association explains. The study found that among 81 white patients who died, 42 percent only displayed signs of typical Alzheimer’s disease. About 51 percent of them had a mix

quent and severe blood vessel disease in their brains, such as hardening of the arteries, the investigators found. These results could help begin to explain why blacks in the United States are twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s than people of European descent, said Heather Snyder, director of medical and scientific operations for the Alzheimer’s Association. Black people are more like-

ly than whites to suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, all of which increase a person’s risk of infarct-causing strokes, Barnes said. There also might be specific genetic differences that lead to increased risk of Lewy bodies and other dementia-related brain changes, Snyder suggested. (Continued on pg. 14)

City of Milwaukee Health Department announces dates and locations for 15th Annual Back-to-School Health Fairs Health fairs to be held Aug. 7 at North Division High School and Aug. 14 at Bradley Tech High School With school season already around the corner, Mayor Tom Barrett and the City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) have announced that the City’s 15th annual Back-to-School Health Fairs will be held Friday, Aug. 7, at North Division High School (1011 W. Center St.) and Friday, Aug. 14, at Bradley Tech High School (700 S. 4th St.). Both events will run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. “Our annual Back-toSchool Health Fairs offer families an opportunity to get their children ready for a healthy school year,” said Mayor Tom Barrett. “We are thankful to our generous sponsors for their support and to all the organizations providing services and re-

sources at both fairs.” The health fairs are presented by the City of Milwaukee Health Department and United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Children’s Community Health Plan, United Healthcare, Molina Healthcare, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, MHS Health Wisconsin, and Milwaukee Urban League. Services at each fair include school-required vaccinations, lead testing, vision and dental screenings. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a BadgerCare HMO, will also bring Green Bay Packers legend LeRoy Butler as one of the special guests to the 15th annual health fairs.

“Each year we serve thousands of children at both health fairs,” said Commissioner of Health Bevan K. Baker. “Ensuring that families have access to required vaccinations and health screenings is essential to keeping schools and our community healthy year round.” Free backpacks and school supplies will be provided to children with an up-to-date shot record, or those who receive vaccinations and lead testing at the fairs. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive gifts and services. For more information, call (414) 286-3521 or visit www.milwaukee.gov/health.

Talk show host Wendy Williams brings comedy tour to Milwaukee

The Emmy-nominated queen of media comes to The Riverside Theater for her "Sit-down" stand-up comedy performance on July 30, 2015 Wendy Williams knows how to bring the heat! And after 23 years in radio, multiple New York Times bestselling books and a nationally-syndicated (and recently Emmy-nominated) talk show (The Wendy Williams Show), she's still on fire. "How does it make me feel?" she ponders, talking from her home in New Jersey on the day of her Emmy nominations. "Right now I feel real regular because after I get off the phone with you, I got to go chase (my) garbage cans." After all: She's still "just Wendy from Jersey." And on July 30th at the Riverside Theater Williams delves deeper into her persona in an humorously honest "lay down" comedy show, she calls "therapy." Before the upcoming show, we ask: How you doin', Wendy? I feel terrific. No one expects you to be funny on The Wendy Williams Show, though often times you are. But in this comedy show people expect you to bring the funny. What does that do to your nerves? First, I feel very comfortable on stage. So I got that accomplished. I want people to understand, I don't get on stage and tell knock-knock jokes. I don't have a writer because people can't write

my jokes. But I've been told all of my life, all my life, before radio, before TV, I have a quirky sense of humor. And I've always been able to make people laugh. Even in my family, growing up as a little girl. When everyone else is down, I was the one to walk in the room and lighten it up. I was always the one with the whoopee cushion to play a joke on people, the dangling spider from the invisible thread, the mouse in the corner, the pile of fake poop. I was that girl. And you know … how do I feel? I hope you laugh. What's your setup onstage? Here's what I am doing: I am not telling jokes. I am telling humorous stories. And I will be coming with a film projector so I can show you pictures to accompany the stories I am telling you. If I show a picture of me when I'm 10, I'm gonna say: 'Alright, here is what was going on in my life at this time.' I have this kooky best friend, Regina. I will have Regina's picture. Here's my mother: She is a little lady. I am a big woman. Here's my son: He's a jerk. He's 14. Is the preparation for this show the same as your talk show? Are you backstage trying to get your mind clear or are sipping

(Continued from pg. 12) “This certainly warrants further investigation, to ask those types of questions,” Snyder said. Researchers were careful to match the patients, making sure that all suffered from similar levels of Alzheimer’s disability prior to death, Barnes said. After death, autopsies revealed that nearly all of the participants had experienced some brain changes related to either Alzheimer’s or dementia. Learning the differences between black and white Alzheimer’s patients will be critically important to researchers who hope to find treatments and cures for dementia, said Dr. Ezriel Kornel, assistant clinical professor of neurosurgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. “It will help to more readily treat individuals who have dementia, by understanding what the cause is,” Kornel said. “As we come closer to finding answers to what the causes and cures of Alzheimer’s are, those answers might be effective for [whites] but not effective for the black population. You have to look at more than just Alzheimer’s for a significant segment of the population.” The autopsies in this study focused on patients with severe late-stage dementia, noted Dr. Reisa Sperling, professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School and director of the Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Follow-up research hopefully will determine how early in life these brain changes begin, and whether there are ways to reduce people’s risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia, Sperling said. “We don’t know during life, especially before people have dementia, what is increasing their risk,” said Sperling, also a spokeswoman for the American Federation for Aging Research. “This suggests there may be mechanisms that increase risk in African Americans through multiple different pathways.”

Wendy Williams (Continued from pg. 13) What's your favorite curse word? The F-word. The F-word is my favorite because it's just so poignant. It gets to the point. I can tell you this: I don't curse around my mom and dad, and I never would. It's a point of pride and respect. I do curse to my son to make a point. Like, 'If he doesn't pick that up I will crack your motherfather skull.' You know, but I use the full thing. I don't ever expect my son to ever curse in a conversation with me. And I'm talking about just shooting the shyte. I expect him to walk in honoring his parents the way I honor my parents. Tell me what have you learned about comedy? What I've learned in general is that laughter is truly, truly, truly the best medicine. And I've known that since I was a little girl. Even regarding that one hour a day I'm on TV, people tell me all the time: 'Wendy

you helped me get through cancer. Wendy, I was on bed rest from my pregnancy and watched you everyday. You took my mind off my troubles.' I so love comments like that. Because guess what? when I wake up in the morning, I don't always feel my howyou-doin' best. But when those double doors open, you all clapping and saying, 'Wendy, Wendy' and all that mess for one hour a day, it's therapy for me also. Then, when the hour is over, then I go back to my problems. So do you. See ya tomorrow. It's therapy.
