二年一度的國際劇場藝術節,今年進入第六屆,延續「騷文意動」概念,以文 本出發,體現劇場的多元化樣貌,引領觀眾進入深邃的想像空間。 2012 國際劇場藝術節今年以「差異與認同」為整體主題,每一個故事皆來自 不同的文化背景,述說著人生中面臨的喜悅、痛苦、是非、掙扎與矛盾,邀請 來自比利時當代舞團跨戲劇製作《梔子花》,創團藝術家亞蘭 ‧ 布拉德勒和 同為劇場與歌劇導演的法朗 ‧ 范萊克跨界合作,取材自深刻人心的西班牙紀 錄片《我就是這個樣子》(Yo Soy Asi),呈現生命晦澀不安的一面,從混亂的 記憶中找到和諧的終點。英國楊維克劇團改編二十世紀天才小說家卡夫卡短篇 小說【學院報告】,描述黑猩猩紅彼特進化成人類的過程,緩緩述說奇異的人

生經歷。法國雙向肢體劇場《慾望片段》故事主軸圍繞在男主角小時候與他殘 疾的父親,及家庭女教師之間,呈現錯綜複雜的自我掙扎。台灣的二分之一 Q 劇場改編經典《桃花扇》,透過崑曲與歌仔的雙「生」疊韻,譜寫桃花與扇的 嗔癡愛戀。最後,也是來自台灣的莫比斯圓環創作公社將演出香港知名編劇潘 惠森的作品《在天台上冥想的蜘蛛》,為其「昆蟲系列」的壓軸作品,透過蜘 蛛織網引發聯想,對白帶有荒誕趣味,刻劃出城市小人物的生活和心態。精采

演出邀請觀眾探索不同人生面貌,進入表演者的神秘世界,共同經歷多元的舞 台意象。 2012 國際劇場藝術節將於 5 月 11 日登場,至 6 月 3 日將帶給台灣觀眾五檔精 采的演出,「差異」是一種不凡的傾訴;而「認同」則是讓我們體現真實,學 習面對與包容,歡迎大家走進劇場,經歷風情萬種的人生故事。


Entering the 6th biannual International Theatre Festival (ITF); sustaining the concepts of the last five festivals, it still employs librettos that display the variety of theatre and leads the audience to wander in their own imaginations. The theme of ITF 2012 is “Diversity and Identification.” Five plays are included, from different cultural backgrounds, depicting the joy, pains, disputes, conflicts, and controversies in our lives. Les ballets C de la B from Belgium presents the crossover production Gardenia, collaboratively created by the founding artist Alain Platel and director of theatre and opera Frank Van Laecke. Inspired by the touching Spanish documentary Yo Soy Así, it illustrates the gloomy and disturbed side of life, and eventually finds consolation from the messed up memories. British Young Vic Theatre Company’s Kafka’s Monkey, adapted from the talented novelist Kafka’s story A Report to an Academy, depicts how the chimpanzee Red Peter transformed into human by retelling his grotesque life. Cie Dos à Deux from France, with Fragments of Desire, demonstrates the main character’s complicated relationship with his disabled father and governess during his childhood and intricate struggles within himself. 1/2Q Theatre from Taiwan will present The Legend of Peach Blossom Fan adapted from the Chinese classic with the same title. Blending the tunes of Kunqu and Taiwanese opera, it manifests human desire and passion hidden in peach blossom and fan. Last but not least, Möbius Strip Theatre from Taiwan will

display Spider in Meditation written by the renowned Hong-Kong librettist Hui-sen Pan. A main bout of Pan’s “Insect Series,” it was inspired by the image of spiders’ weaving. With weird and witty narration, it portrays urban nobodies’ lives and perspectives, and invites the audience to explore different ways of living, including the mysterious world of performers through various stage components. From May 11 to June 3, ITF 2012 will showcase five remarkable plays. Diversity stands for an outcry for specialty while identification makes us see the reality, and learn to tolerate. One of the most renowned companies of Belgium, les ballets C de la B is widely welcomed by major festivals and venues around the world. With Out of Context- for Pina, the company’s premiere in Taiwan almost sold out. It will present the enthralling masterpiece in theatre Gardenia on its second visit. Artistic Director Alain Platel and Frank Van Laecke, regarded by the press as the “Wizard”, teamed up together for the first time. They filled Gardenia with plenty of eccentric elements. The inspiration was Sonia Herman Dolz’s touching documentary Yo Soy Así, which is set on the closing eve of a transvestite cabaret at Barcelona and gives audiences a glimpse at the private lives of old artists. On the stage the actors display their loneliness, weakness, and desolation without any restraint through fragments of life. An intimate portrait of identity and self-revelation: sometimes funny, sometimes overwhelming, always poignant. As they navigate the hinterland between masculine and feminine, truth and artifice, past and present. A bold, yet deeply tender mix of dance, song, theatre and cabaret. Is a discordant life doomed to play out tragically? It’s a long way to go on a life journey; no one knows what it will be like until the end.

Alain Platel, director Alain Platel founded les ballets C de la B in 1984. The company gained international renown with Iets op Bach in 1998. His turning point came when he collaborated with the composer Cassol in vsprs. Before that, Platel’s work was exuberant in the diversity of performers and variety of themes. From then on, he paid more attention to the desires and passions of human, and made his works more profound and intense. After the baroque pitié! in 2008, Out Of Context- for Pina in 2010 is an almost ascetic reflection of a movement repertoire of spasms and tics, which Platel continues developing. The yearning for something transcending the individual becomes more and more palpable. In 2010 he worked together with Frank Van Laecke, they directed Gardenia, a performance about and with older travestites and transsexual artists.

Frank Van Laecke, director Frank Van Laecke’s versatility earned him the title of ‘Wizard’ in press reviews. After writing a number of TV series for the Flemish public television broadcasting company VRT, he made a name for himself as a director of plays and operas, directing musicals (Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll & Hyde) and extravagant theatrical productions, which brought him considerable international fame. Dracula, Daens, etc. With ease Frank Van Laecke returned to directing works with a purer aesthetic, such as theatrical production Your Hand in Mine and Look mummy, I’m dancing, a monologue directed jointly with Vanessa Van Durme. Frank Van Laecke received numerous awards, both in Belgium and abroad, for his direction. He was appointed ‘Ambassador of the City of Ghent’ in 2002.
