Not long ago, ticks living in a subway cloth chair have been reported on our news program and many people thought it was a serious health condition. Then how is the condition of cinemas operated by big companies? We imagined it would be a little better condition than other conditions. Kim Jong-won reporter. The neat box office, spectacular hallway, and well-organized chairs â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Most people are thinking about the cinema like this.
[interview] Clear. There is no dirty, I've received a lot of feeling personally clean.
We decided to go inside of the theater that have no audience at the late-night time to look into in more detail.
We irradiated the light in a chair that couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t see well due to the dark environment. The seat part was turned to dirt, and even the armrests became dirty. A bunch of hair was attached to the chair back and we found heavy dirt on wipes. Lots of food waste are attached on the drink holder.
There are full of dust in the air when we whisked a chair. This time we’ve seen these chairs with a smartphone microscope ‘Dream Vision X’
There are so many extraneous substance with white color under the reddish fibers of chair. Some parts of the chair are covered with dirt almost completely.
[ expert ] It’s very dirty. There would be some keratins and dead body of ticks…
There’re so many mixtures of keratin, food residue and micro dirt.
[ expert ] They are all the favorite of ticks …. Oh, there, just before… We found something
[ expert ] This is a dead body of tick or living tick.
Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve inspected 6 cinemas in Seoul with a tick detect kit.
[ interview ] Now we can find a line at here, and it means that lots of ticks are living here. I just tapped this chair lightly and lots of whitish dust comes out like fog. If somebody eat food while watching the movie, this dust enters the respiratory tract as well as the mouth. A bunch of fine dust particles get sucked into cleaner. We found some dead bodies of ticks and their excretions in enlarged photos of dust. We found ticks in all 6 theaters that had investigated.
[ Medical doctor of Korea university hospital ] It is not important that our skin was touched with ticks or not. Really important fact is that our inhalation can be the allergy causes. Allergy reactions from ticks are related not only with atopy
but also with many kinds of skin problems.
The chairs of theater were much more dirty than the bathroom of Seoul railway station in bacterial contamination test. Keratins from audience can be a good source of nutrition for ticks.
