BEHIND THE MIRACLE
The perfectionist in Team Miracle with an eye for creativity.
Meet the creatives behind the Glitter issue of the magazine What did you learn from your first project or job? The first job i worked on was the Depression issue of Miracle magazine. It gave me an insight into the publishing world and i learnt how every element is harmonized into a magazine. Which is the most memorable creative project you’ve worked on?
AAYUSHI KHURANA Our associate editor with a knack for fashion and dreams. You can find her idolizing Alexander McQueen through the day.
My complete journey with miracle has been an otherworldly experience. From directing photoshoots to designing the magazine, every element nurtured my abilities and in addition helped me acquire new set of skills. Which is the key element that defines your job role in the magazine? Majorly, my job role comprises of going through and approving the final material provided by all the departments as well as designing of the magazine along with my co-art editor.
What did you learn from your first project or job?
Gurbaaz Maken
The first major project I worked on was a short film I shot during high school. I learnt that it is very important to have a supportive and cooperative team to achieve the final product. Also that it is very necessary to respect and understand your role and position you’re assigned. Which is the most memorable creative project you’ve worked on?
The model who is pretty much an all-rounder.
The most memorable and creative project I worked on has to be my short film ‘To Whom It Belongs’. It started off as an experimental short film project and turned into an award
winner. I wrote, directed and edited the film. There was a lot I faced and learnt during the production and the overall experience was really fruitful. I got to learn things in a more practical manner. Which is the key element that defines your job role in the magazine? I enjoy doing fashion photography from time to time and I’ve been told by team miracle that I do possess enough qualities to be inside the frame which has really boosted my confidence as a model. It has led me to explore another work of art. I’d say having a camera sense acts as a key element for me.
What did you learn from your first project or job? My very first photography project taught me that it has very little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. “There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs”- Ansel Adams. Going against the grains and trying things for yourself is incredibly important. Which is the most memorable creative project you’ve worked on? I was never into the fashion photography until I joined Miracle in 2016. Since then all the fashion shoots that I’ve done with the magazine have had a creative edge to them. Each project had a unique theme. I’ve learned a lot from every project for good. Which is the key element
that defines your job role in the magazine? My key job role has been about working behind the lens as well as being behind all the visuals and graphics. Miracle has helped me discover my forte in the editing field and also helped me polish my skills as a photog9 rapher.
“Miracle can now be counted as a full- fledged magazine and deserves the accolades it would thereby procure.”

MIRACLE Editor’s Letter The dictionary describes Glitter as a showy splendour as so it was when the 90s drag queens flaunted it. Glitter can instantly be attached to the concept of jewels, Glamour, a sparkly lustre and to the fairies that sprinkle their magic. It lives in a vacuum with girls and their adoration. It breeds on the celebrities and among the flash of their boa fathers and thigh high boots. A dab of stardust is a fantasy. Well, after the 90s, the fantasy again came strolling down the runway wearing Gucci glitter platform sneakers and Saint Laurent’s Niki crystal boots. What aroused was a sparkle galore! “I’m definitely feeling a bit more sparkle and that’s amazing”, Michael Halpern said after this show; and so the designer embodied that in sequin thinking dresses and built his reputation as a rising British designer. Glitter has definitely reigned supreme for Fall/Winter 20 8 and it instantly became our theme for the issue without any grandeur discussions. Our cover shoot became a lingering showcase of the ‘It Girl’ and their impression that’s surely glitter encrusted. The It Girl Gigi Hadid’s look for Versace wearing the cross-embellished boots, shows the impact that these young stars can create. Moving forward, we also sculpted two versions of our Balenciaga-inspired paparazzi shoots. Firstly, a star studded red carpet night and the other as a naked sneak-peek of a celebrity life. We have explored glitter in all it’s dimensions and established the return of the millennial buzz. Another trend that we have focused on is the red hot colour of this season - Red. I love how this issue speaks to my fashion frantic and so I hope it will similarly to all who comes across this issue. Magazines have always sweepers me off my feet especially when they are in print. On this note, I have poured out my counter love for magazines in the feature “Why I Still Love Print Magazines”. I would let you experience this stardust for yourself. Galore away!
Until next time,

CESSATION OF FASHION STORES Fashion stores in U.S. are shutting at an alarming rate because of the rapid increase in online trade.
40
E
ver dreamt of a life with fashion stores in one hand and Pizza in another? Sounds perfect. Right? Well! Keep your comfy couches and smartphones ready as the era unfolds its new advancements. Internet can be a perquisite for some but surely doesn’t seem to be the same for the retailers of U.S., as more than 2500 fashion focused stores have been shut down and more than a dozen have filed for bankruptcy, considering the major reason to be the online business. The situation has been fabricating since a long time, it feels like there is a rush to vacant the retail spaces all of a sudden. The stores used to act as a place where the merchants would display an array of products which were an instant picks but now that everyone has everything accessible on their smartphones, the era is taking a toll. People have switched to online trade and the foot traffic to malls has declined.
As shopping patterns have changed, the superfluity of stores is far worse in the U.S. than in other countries. It has 23.5 square feet of retail space per person, outrivaling any other country. The brick and mortar retailers are having a trouble competing with the super-sized e-tailers. The ascendancy of these online outlets is based on lower prices, much more options and the comfort factor, to sit at home and browse. Thus, many national and chain retailers have cut short or have closed. Famous Labels like JC Penney, Macy’s, Sears, Kmart Stores, and Payless Shoe Source are amongst the ones who need to sustain their losses by shutting down their stores, along with chains like Crocs, BCBG, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Guess. ‘Bebe’ is expected to close all 170 of its stores and focus on the online sales. ‘The Limited’ recently shut down all its 250 stores but are still an online merchandise. A multifarious brand like Michael Kors will also have to shut down around 100-125 stores due to dismal sales.
MIRACLE The brand struggles as opening so many luxury stores and not being able to excite the customers, it incurred heavy losses. Talking about JC Penney, they announced plans to shut around 138 stores. In the past, Kohl’s has been growing immensely but now it plans to shut approximately 18 stores. Macy’s claim of shutting in 68 locations. Sears intends to close at least 30 Sears and Kmart stores. The teen apparel, Rue21 Inc. which is expected to have 1000 stores, is soon going to file bankruptcy. As stores continue to close, many shopping malls will be forced to shut down as well, which will leave a lot of empty slots and
will have to either convert to other uses or maybe renegotiate the rent with the retailers. Some retailers are abdicating the retail business altogether and trying to shift to an all online vendible. The reason for physical stores to eclipse is not just the ecommerce masters like Amazon, but also that people are now investing more in travel and technology while spending less on apparel and accessories. There is a possibility that more than 8600 fashion stores will close their doors in 2017. This trend is expected to continue in the foreseeable future and might even accelerate.
“Internet can be a perquisite for some but surely doesn’t seem to be the same for the retailers of U.S., as more than 2500 fashion focused stores have been shut down and more than a dozen have filed for bankruptcy, considering the major reason to be the online business.”

W
ith fashion trends having a transient life, it’s all about the indelible impact that a particular-trend holds upon the followers. With immense paparazzi and buzz all around, the arena of glitz and glam is undergoing a significant metamorphosis in the present spectrum of time. With designers making a mark of their own, the advent of exhibitions or setting up of exclusive displays of the collections has been gaining momentum. And along with such trend setting, the tourist turnover towards such fashion museums, stores etc. have seen a humungous rise. As a matter of fact, it is not only the designers that develop a personal touch with their customers. As a better consequence of such measures, there
is an equal reaction from the receiving end of fashion freaks to the stimulus of setting up of such ventures. Curating exhibitions of classic embellishments and couture has now spread like a wildfire across the fashion forum, ringing in a huge bonanza and thus making the particular-era of fashion timeless in the minds of the fashion fanatics, against the harsh oblivion of time. Such endeavors not only raise the poetic vitality of fashion but also draw together sublime foundations and shifting frontiers as fashion incessantly redefines itself.

Paris &Marrakech YVES SAINT LAURENT
The couture house of Yves Saint Laurent, the immaculate prodigy who took Paris by storm in his teens and went on to redefine the way women dressed for decades to come is now metamorphized into a museum dedicated to his work with a vast collection of 5,000 garments and 5,000 accessories to select from for the main exhibition spaces. The recreational effort had its inception from October 3 20 7 and will reign the fashion world till September 9, 20 8. Refurbishing the original atmosphere of the haute couture house – all neoclassical columns and burnished statues – and the bulk of the exhibition spaces are located on the ground level, keeping the basic segments intact with one display featuring a dozen mannequins adorned in the finery including a naval-style suit with gold costume buttons and a deliciously prim tweed two-piece, complete with looped bow collar.
An alluring depiction through mannequins and montages, original notes and sketches, videos and voiceovers, the museum perfectly narrates the Saint Laurent story through his designs. The exhibition is recreated into an extraordinary visual narrative which Saint Laurent himself had anticipated. Every piece or 49 couture so displayed reflects his true inspiration from art and aesthetics.

CELEBRATING 70 YEARS OF CHRISTIAN DIOR
Dior took inspiration from art, instead of doing things the other way and made his way progressively to fashion until the creation of the Dior House. This is truly a specialty of Dior that was kept by his successors. The various rooms of the exhibitions are arranged thematically, with lavish or floral gowns presented next to a painting that might have inspired their creation. The Madeleine gown is particularly striking; it feels almost as if it came straight out of Giovanni Boldini’s “Portrait of Madame R.I.”. And in the flower room, a particularly striking gown, created by Raf Simons for a Miss Dior commercial, looks almost like an impressionist painting with its soft colors and its mousseline fabric. One thing is clear: in just 70 years, Dior has become the embodiment of the ‘élégance à la française,’ by keeping his fashion pattern extremely simple yet significant. Dior just wanted to make women beautiful so they could be happy. This simple goal, as well as the New Look silhouette, left an indelible impact on other designers and French couture houses. A room of the exhibition showcases gowns and dresses created by other couturiers, such as Jean-Paul Gaultier or Pierre Cardin, some paying homage to the designer. Walking through the 3,000 square meters of the exhibition - the largest retrospective ever staged - proves just how successful Dior had been at creating, not just gowns but also a fashion empire. Bottles of perfumes, photographs and magazine covers displayed throughout the exhibition prove that the Normandy native managed to create a cohesive Dior universe immediately recognizable by all. The exhibition holds true to the fact that the establishment of an era that sets a benchmark swings on the hinges of 53 such potent and significant designers.

TREND REPORT
Dwelling Into The Past Bringing back the vinatge this season.

tarting with New York, landing in London, moving to Milan and finally to Paris, there are plenty of styling tips, tricks and trends to note from the catwalk collections. Blending in is not an option. Abstract trends have been created this year. It was free from form. But if trends are truly heading for more and more comfort, fashion is retaining its sense of fun, its color and glamour, always with a sense of determination and self-assuredness. In short, this season it’s all about celebrating the individuality of style through the multitude of trends waiting to be worn. 80s Glamour , Lots Of Velvet with Tufts of Colorful Fur are the trends that were present in Fall 20 6.Undoubtedly, the biggest trend of the fall and winter is the use of masculine to accentuate certain aspects of femininity. So make space for what you will be wearing this fall.
MATCH YOUR RED CARPET
I
f it matches with the red-carpet it definitely is the trendsetter of the season. Silhouette is key, but so is fabric. Rihanna and other celebrities were carrying it off this season. Assuming that red is the colour of fall. There were sleek coats at Givenchy, monochromatic looks at Tod’s, and a statement boots by Fendi soon-to-be seen all over the street style circuit. A Unique Sense Of Style even if you’ve never been a hat person before, you’ll find one to fit your vibe this season. From fedoras to beanies, the stylish celebrities were able to pull off this look.
Do you have broad shoulders? Do not be embarrassed, they are in vogue. Style yourself confident is what broad shoulder dresses are aiming for. Clothes hang better from wide shoulders, which is why lots of models strutting the catwalk have strong shoulders. As rich and luxe as the velvet fabric itself, so are the bold colors sashaying down the New York Fashion Week runways. Bold colored velvet is making its presence known on the fall 20 7 season.

Shine On Velvet Fashion

Shine On Velvet Fashion is proving to be a red-carpet favorite throughout the colder months and into the early spring. Kendall Jenner and Victoria Beckham and among many others, velvet continues to capture hearts. The trick is to flatter and flaunt your best assets, which will automatically shift the attention from the flaw areas. For instance, if you’ve strong and tall legs then you can carry something that flaunts your beautiful limbs and if you have a slim waist then you can go for outfits that highlight your

The trend has unsurprisingly been wildly popular among street-style influencers during the current fashion season. Vintage fur Jackets has been the best so far this season. Furry bag is bang-ontrend fresh off the runway that sparks such vivid imaginations and dreams. Gucci’s crossover mules, fur-lined Prince slippers have become staples in fashion girls’ shoe collections everywhere. Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein have made commitments to keeping their collections fur-free, but a few of other designers and

From cool to chic if you’re looking for a new twist on this classic coat, try adding a splash of super classy to your wardrobe. The look was made for It girls-ofthe-moment like Lily Rose Depp and Lottie Moss. With fur collars, embroidery and lace also come into the picture, making fashion rather refreshing. Two most iconic personalities Alexander McQueen and Peter Pilotto of the inspired fashion industry about vintage has become a common theme of usage amongst the designers.

doesn’t enjoy sipping coffee while they flip through the glossy pages of a print magazine, all cuddled up on your couch? It’s been a favorite time for people for years. Whether at the waiting time at the saloon or a long travel journey, magazines have been everywhere. Print magazines have been a faithful companion and respite. However, in the 2 st century, the digital age has cast its malediction on this favorite leisure time. Print publications are dying, and magazines are falling into the digital web. I have been a constant lover and admirer for as long as I can remember. I remember sneaking into my mother’s copy of Vogue every month and being mesmerized by the high-quality images. This constant admiration made me start my own online in72 20 2 when the trend was heavily bent towards
digital at that time. After a year of selling the magazine on the digital media platform, I lost my interest. The feel of reading the magazine was never the same as holding a print magazine and having a sense of ownership attached to it. Also, the readers demanded print copies and by 20 3, I decided to take the magazine into print. I remember tearing off the packaging with thrilling anticipation when the print version of my magazine first arrived. It was almost like I had been taken to the safe haven of my childhood dreams. The magazine helped me get acquainted with tons of people with whom I could share my passion. The world was moving towards the digital arena and we were still content in the vicinity of our own magazine. We made numerous efforts to stay in time with and bow down to the digital reign: social media presence, a YouTube channel and interactive digital issues. All of these efforts helped us increase the popularity of the magazine, while we still stayed true to our tradition: print. I do agree that the digital presence increased the audience of the magazine. The interactive digital issues were a respite for the people of the digital generation and it helped us cater to all sorts of readers. Even with all its merits, what these digital issues lacked was the sensory bond that you make with the content in a print magazine.
The sensory precedence is what makes print magazines still so important. Owning a magazine in print is not the same as digital. The digital content is bound to disappear into the cyberspace with time. On the other hand, print magazines can be in yours for years. The print magazines stay in circulation for years. The glaring covers of a print magazine are preserved as pieces of art by passionate lovers of print magazines. In a study by Huffington Post, it states that the “printed magazines continue to offer something concrete, a tangible representation of a collaboration between editors, artists, designers, and writers. And nothing embodies this collaboration like the magazine cover, which remains one of the modern age’s most widely consumed pieces of public art”. Â The touch and feel of the glossy pages of the magazines are what attaches nostalgia and tradition to them. Apart from the sensory sentiments, over the years I have realized that print magazines are preferred by advertisers. I was able to receive ads quicker for the print editions than the digital editions of my magazine. I believe it was the reactionary schoolof-thought where people saw print ads as rather more legitimate. The advertisers are willing to pay more for print ads as opposed to digital ads. Advertising is the main revenue outlet for magazines and that’s the reason why many magazines still stick to
their print counterpart. It’s a fact that people see print ads as more legitimate. People are less likely to open the pop-ups and banner ads as opposed to print ads. Print ads supersede what we consider creative, high-quality images and font faces that are involved in print ads. As reported in Forbes, consumers are more engaged when reading printed material, unlike websites, which are often skimmed in as little as a 5-second visit.Print generally grabs a reader’s attention far more than digital. We tend to digest the content of a print magazine more slowly. Many people argue about the convenience of digital magazines and the information available at a mouse click’s notice. For me, waiting for my copy of Vogue every month from the post is much more intriguing. The curiosity is arresting when I finally hold the magazine in my hands. They will be there with me for years. It will be there for me on days I’m sick and curled up on my bed. It will there for me after a long day at work. The argument that print is dying or becoming collector’s item is according to a study by Who What Wear, an issue to dive into. Personally, the idea of print magazines going into a state of non-existence is rather gloomy for me. I believe that there are more people like me who enjoy their morning Starbucks with the glossy pages of magazine picked up fresh off the magazine stacks. 73

ashion never stops evolving. There was a time when design was the only probable fashion career choice. With an increasing awareness of fashion and technological advances, the fashion industry has been generating a lot of jobs. Here are a few lesser-known fields that you can consider when entering the fashion industry.
Visual merchandiser.
Careers
Fashion Careers That Are Setting Off In The Industry -Guntaj Arora 86
Visual merchandising is similar to styling, though still very different. Visual merchandisers, or visual presenters, arrange the clothes and accessories that are displayed at stores. Ever wondered whose mind is behind the ice sculptures at Barney’s window displays? It’s the visual merchandisers! If creativity and playing with props is your thing, you might want to consider a job in this field. A lot of fashion schools offer related courses, including FIT in New York.
Personal stylist. Personal styling is a field that’s already on the rise. Personal stylists are consultants who help their clients select personal style items, such as shoes and clothes. A career in personal styling doesn’t require a specific kind of education. Stylists can gain experience by building a portfolio with friends and family. The subsequent internships and connections help build a career in this field.
Fashion law.
“Fashion illustrators express fashion through art.”
Did you always think law wasn’t a glamorous field? Well, you’ve been thinking wrong. Fashion law is the solution to your fashionable, law-loving nature. The field requires legal knowledge of this industry including trademarks, distribution agreements, and brand and design copyright. The opportunities can include a lot of socializing in the fashion world, and you can even work with the in-house team at the bigger fashion houses. If you can talk fashion and legal jargon, this is the career for you.
Fashion illustrator. Do you have a major in psychology and love fashion? This might be the perfect job for you! Consumer psychology is a specialized study of consumers and their behavior. It involves studying the purchasing habits of the consumers and marketing according to their needs and wants. Consumer psychologists can work for fashion businesses and corporations, or even aid the fashion marketing department.
consumer psychologist. This field requires someone with the right amount of skill and talent. Typically, you can start your career by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field. Fashion illustrators express fashion through art. They should also know about the computer software that fashion magazines use.

teamed up with a casual trainer. Having the favorite slogans and funny graphics, it is being pulled out well by the youth as they wear their opinions on their sleeves! The favorite ones to look forward are from Fendi, Valentino and Christopher Shannon.
As the season unfolds its best picks, here are a few trends to look forward and fill in the wardrobes.
Reeling from the archaic times to the present hippy world, from Elvis Presley to the legendary Mr. Bachchan. We have seen them all adorning the silhouettes, the fur, the grandpa cardigans and the tanned leathers. Aren’t we all blown away with the latest fashion trends of this season? As the fashion week couture collections are out, it is time you fill in your wardrobes with this season’s best picks. With the right fabrics and the right tailoring, you can ace the trends like a pro and turn your Basic into Modest with the detailing of Styles, Cuts and the Fit. The fashion industry seems to be reviving the old trends of the 50s and 70s as encountered from the latest collection launch of Prada and Fendi. If the women made a statement with the hoop skirts and 96 the outrageous bustles, the men are
statement tees
now reviving and acing the game with the bottoms in the bespoke outfits matching their inner personality. The colors more or less are way too deep, from mahogany to Burgundy, from chestnut brown to deep browns. The full cord suits, cut slim in an understated shade of olive green or some relaxed pair of trousers paired up with a leather jacket are a good to go weekend staple. These are pretty much the viable options when it comes to the latest revival of suits and trousers. With incomparable leather sheen and wonderful designs, Leather on Leather is another fancy catch amongst the crowd. Along with the sleek leather pants, you can try on leather jackets with elegant seams or outlaw jackets, bomber jackets, army jackets or maybe the biker jackets which can be worn on any casual to a formal occasion. The leather pants with front pockets, zip fly front, stitch details, low rise and high rise are the rage of the season. The idea is not to bulk the jacket underneath, it should be
comfortable and should fit your body shape. After Pyjama Shirts, The Silk Shirts with piping around the edges will be one of the trends to look forward this season, the designers have been rediscovering the ways and patterns to wear silk circa. A few to consider this season are Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Per Gotesson, and Katie Eary bringing out the best of silk in various prints and shades with those camp collars. Challenging your monotonous black, blue and greys, you might want to add a color as fiery as your passion, ‘Red’ to your closet and make yourself stand out with the hues for that sturdiness and tenacious kind of denotation. For that mysterious and masculine look, Dior suggests all red from head to toe, Dries van Noten presented knitwear and Balenciaga have introduced their best collection.
Whoever said that ‘orange is the new black’ knew how fashion has its own embracement
“Monsieur, couture it right!”
Though the cardigans usually scare men and many choose ‘not to choose’ them but this season is trending hard for grandpa cardigans, thank the swag lord designers like Raf Simons. From fitted to chunky to buttoned, they are making their way into the top fashion list. Swap that buttoned up shirt with a more casual T-shirt which will instantly avoid giving off those granddad vibes! A camel- cardigan, or an oversized vintage rust can be paired with ripped jeans or tapered joggers to give your outfit a little badass edge. The fur on the same hand is mak-
ing a subtle advancement on the runaways as we witness the gone by days of shaggy long lines and freeing the fashion constraints. Whoever said that ‘orange is the new black’ knew how fashion has its own embracement. Orange has made a razzle-dazzle come back. Some pretty incredible coats are hitting around the corner, you can also add an orange T-shirt in your style to bring out that subtle pop in your greys and navy. Fashion never fails to surprise us! The recent ‘fleece’ trend is the perfect example of the same, this trend is back from the
bargain bins of the sports stores. Dolce & Gabbana, No. 21 and Cottweiler are amongst the ones challenging the basics on the runaways. Nevertheless, pair them up with smart brogues or some equally dark jeans or may be a pair of Vans Plimsolls could do the trick. The Extra-large shirts and satin ties are also the cult classics this fall. As the season unfolds, it is going to be pretty difficult for us to hold back and escape from this year’s fall trends. It is time Monsieur, that you couture it right!

And living such desire in the true world, although seems to be far fetched yet completely miraculous. Such pure bliss can be only experienced in the lap of nature combining the experience of theatrical world with the open air cinemas being run in different cities across the world, which undoubtedly provide a life time experience worth cherishing forever to whosoever witnesses it. While having a look at the inception of the open air cinema, these have become a world
renowned trend since 9 6. A couple of years later, Americans became true afficianados of such trend - the charming drive-in theaters, in New Jersey. With the open air cinemas spreading like a wildfire both in urban and global arenas, these became the fondest pastime of many natives of the America and those in vicinity. With fleeting memories of the the outdoor movies’ drift begins to rise again, in a different shape, these have the same potential of delivering wonderful summer experiences. Let us have a fair glance over few of the openair cinemas across the world. Cine Kamari aims to reminisce the theater tradition and culture of Greeks so running from antiquity, by offering the locals and tourists a plethora of opportunities in terms of frolics and entertainment. The open air cinema established in 987 provides a hands on experience of cherishing the pristine beauty of the gardens of the city along with the cinematic experience.

AMANTE MOVIE NIGHT, IBIZA
As eccentric it may sound, what if you are bestowed with an opportunity to watch your favourite film in your bath tub. It may sound crazy but it is possible in London, a place known for providing a quirky edge to the simplest of the aspects. London, well renowned for its out of the box ideas and innovation, so it’s no surprise that it is a home to the world’s first event to combine hot tubs and cinematic picturisation from here. What started 8 years ago as a private party with one hot tub, is now one of the crowd magnet of the place. With no fixed location, Hot Tub Cinema takes place in various quirky spots across the city (from rooftops to abandoned underground stations), and includes up to 30 bubbly hot tubs, two screens, and a state-of-theart surround-sound system. So, the best way to watch a movie is the hunky dory way in the hot bath tub Cinema of London that provides an equitable nerve of fun to all the viewers so present.
The best place to rejuvenate is to preside in the lap of nature, which is quite impossible to relish in the present spectrum of metropolitan and materialistic lifestyle. But now, this has been made possible at Amante Movie Night through various elements of nature engrossed within a common location. The rolling waves, dramatically illuminated rocks and a cool, salty breeze set the perfect euphoria to go gaga over at Ibiza’s open-air Cinema by the sea. The atmospheric venue makes a fairyland backdrop for films under the starry ethereal skyline. Taking place in a a breath-taking beach side setting near Santa Eularia, the open air cinematic bliss comes with various sumptuous items to hog on to like freshly cooker popcorn, world-class wine, and blissfully cozy full length bean bags, ideal for sprinting up the mood to the zenith.

Uxmal , Mexico Uxmal, an ancient city of the classical period in present-day Mexico is considered one of the most important archaeological sites of yesteryear culture, along with Palenque, ChichÊn, and Calakmul. It is located in the Puuc region and is considered one of the Maya cities most representative of the region’s dominant architectural style. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its significance which makes a place worth wandering. Uxmal is one of the most accessible and popular ancient sites on the Yucatan peninsula, and is also regarded as one of the most aesthetically pleasing. Located 50 miles southwest of Merida, it is noted for its variety of buildings, their carved stone decorations and the unusual rounded Pyramid of the Magician. The varying elevations of the large site in the Puuc Hills add to its beauty. The name Uxmal means thrice-visited or built. Its meaning is unclear, but the pre-Columbians often constructed larger, newer buildings over older ones, particularly pyramids. The Pyramid of the Magician shows evidence of five smaller pyramids inside the current structure, which adds a flavor of mystery definitely to be unveiled by the solo travelers.
20
1. The Pyramid of the Magician Sometimes called the Pyramid of the Dwarf, the 5-foot- high pyramid was built by a magician. Born from an egg and raised by a witch, he challenged the ruler of the time, who gave him several unachievable tasks, including building the pyramid in one day. When he accomplished the tasks, the magician overthrew the leader.
2. Chac the Rain God The Mayan rain god, Chac, identifiable by his large elephant trunk-like nose, is honored at Uxmal, perhaps because rain was so crucial for the inhabitants. Unlike other Mayan sites on the peninsula, the area around Uxmal has no underground cenotes, or natural water-filled caves. The Maya at Uxmal built their own cisterns and prayed for frequent rain so they could water their fields rich with soil from the Puuc Hills. It is estimated that at its height, circa 900 A.D., the area surrounding Uxmal was home to 25,000 Maya. The "city" itself was more of a ceremonial center, and was linked to other smaller sites in the area, like Sayil, Labna and Kabah, by sacbeob, ceremonial roads that can still be seen from the air.
