REMINISCING FASHION The “Fashion through decades” was my personal favourite from the glitter issue. I have always been keen to learn about the history and evolution of fashion but reading has never been my cup of tea, specially reading history. The pictorial representation of the evolution of fashion through decades was the perfect solution. Loved how every element was minutely incorporated from the fashion staples of every decade.
-Sarah Loewe
THE TREND DEPTH According to me, “The Red Edit” was the highlight of glitter issue. It was such a unique concept. I am a regular reader of various fashion magazines and I haven’t come across such a spread on a particular trend covering every aspect from clothing, accessories, beauty products to interiors that came in as an inspiration from the seasonal trend.

MIRACLE EDITOR’S LETTER
A
t Miracle, we believe an anniversary to be a milestone of a fresh change, a new spark and of mightier possibilities ahead. For the sixth time or for the nth time that you’ve been and lounged with us, ‘Happy Anniversary ‘.
This anniversary issue came half way through while we were preparing for our winter edition. As I reminisced about the moving years of Miracle, I wanted to give back to our readers in the form of a Mini Fall issue. This is our first fall issue at Miracle and it was definitely an excitement as all curious minds came together to map down this issue. ‘Plaid’ screamed the nerdy boots and ‘ruffles’ whispered the shy tutu! What came together were some 80 pages filled with not-so-evident hues of fall and a frolic of creative lens in the form of our editorials. The revival of Polka Dots has undoubtedly been my favorite trend of the year and one that took hold of the social media. This is the reason why I wanted the cover shoot to be based upon ‘Polka Dots’ accompanied by a complete edit on this spotty trend with a throwback on this trend in “Spotty Fashion Through Decades”. The magazine is a guide book to hand-picked fall trends and on how to style them. The mini issue also contains snippets from beauty, with a highlight on our article ‘The Perfect Nude Shade’, which is our statement on the recent surge of beauty brands standing for inclusivity. There are also some tit-bits from the travel and home decor sections. Lastly, it’s a small bundle of celebration of our accomplishments as a fashion and lifestyle magazine, promoting both amateurs and professionals alike!

Romantic enough. It’s when the chills of fall blows your frills and flounces, you would know that the age of ephemerality is back. It’s time to take out those princess-y frills lounging at the back of your wardrobe. With the romantic hems and gauzy layers, it’s the season to cascade as a grown up princess. Or better, repose into the courtly waterfall ruffles of Erdem redolent of Queen Elizabeth II. If you are more robust, Alexander McQueen’s ruffles put along with combat boots and other dark elements, is your character to enact.

Linen is no more the stereotype for the bourgeoise. The modern silhouettes of linen are more bold and sexier. Linen is becoming the go-to material for a casual sunny day or even the formal linen coats are a perfect summer buy for a profound edginess. After the age of Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn embracing this fabric, it’s the turn of the millennial era of present swooning in Brock Collection’s linen embroidered dresses.

From designers, celebrities to fashion influencers none missed sporting a coordinated pastel look. TREND REPORT

OLKA DOTS edit Re-emergence of the iconic fashion trend from the 50s became the highlight trend revival this season. From luxury to premium brands and from runway to street style, polka dots did not miss a spot to gain the limelight. The timeless classics teleported us to the era of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe who are worshipped till date in the world of fashion for their effortless style. As stated by Marc Jacobs “There is never a wrong time for a polka dot , celebrities sported polka dots from a regular day in the city to talk shows. The Spring Summer 2018 collection ranged from classic polka dots to micro and coloured polka dots but the vintage black and white polka dots remained undeterred and stole the show even after decades. From Carolina Herrera, Balenciaga, Valentino to Jason Wu, all the designers presented their fresh outlook to the 50s trend from mixed patterns to contrasting fabrics in coordinated sets, skirts to dresses and even accessories. 35

pring and floral prints have been a mandatory combination for decades. Last season vintage florals were seen gaining attention in the array of interiors as wallpapers with vintage floral prints dominanted the collections of various luxury fashion giants ranging from Gucci to many others. Whereas this season, the trend was seen shifting to the runway as famous fashion houses went back to 60s and 70s with the vintage florals. Retro florals were seen on Dolce & Gabanna, Marc Jacobs and Gucci Spring 2018 Runway.
When all way grey and gloomy amidst the uniformly clouds of the postwar period, Christian Dior brought polka dots in his New Look collection. The pattern instantly expressed a faith in the future and since, it was a retreat from the tedious silhouettes of the war period, polka dots came to be attached with an optimistic femininity. Soon, Polka dots became a summertime staple as it was seen in the Resort collection of Dior in1950s and then revisited by the house of Dior in 1987 and again in 2010. Polka dots became of an epitome of playful femininity and demure. It might appear to be a juvenile fashion trend but there is a fine line between a trend that is Puerile and the one that is Exuberant. Polka Dots were popularized by Miss America, Norma Smallwood, who was photographed in a polka dot swimsuit and then two years later in 1928, Disney cartoon character, Minnie Mouse was seen wearing a red polka dot dress and a matching bow. It definitely emerged as a fancy trend which is worn by women of all age groups. They were visibly in craze as they were all over bow ties and kerchiefs. There is something fab about these vintage dots that they never age. Icons like Marilyn Monroe, Jane Mansfield, Audrey Hepburn, and Julia Roberts have carried Polka Dots in various movies. In that era of pin ups and femininity, Marilyn Monroe was seen holding a bright polka dot umbrella on the beach and later that same pattern enhanced her curves in the movie, ‘The Seven Year Itch’ in 1955. Jans Mansfield often wore polka dot swimsuits or low-cut shirts. Audrey Hepburn was also seen wearing pink on pink polka dots embellished bow-belt dress with matching satin coat and tiara on her head in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. Louis Vuitton also promoted polka dots in 80’s floaty dresses.
“It might appear to be a juvenile fashion trend but there is a fine line between a trend that is Puerile and the one that is Exuberant.”
This timeless trend got a modern update for new collections of this season. Polka dots is a nostalgic regime of the fashion history. It’s reminiscent of the 50s and 60s. With the revival of the vintage trends, came a flashback of this spotty fashion. The black and white mini dot trend by Jenni Kayne and the multicolour tones of Preen to the large and bold circles of Fendi are definitely here to stay. Multiple ways of carrying polka dot inspired chiffon dresses with sock boots and monochromatic sheer skirts and blouses was shown by labels like Balenciaga, Self Portrait, Mary Katrantzou, Giorgio Armani, and Dior on the runaways of this season. Whether the dots are big or small, positioned or scattered, or simply symmetrically disciplined, the dots imbue the lack of complexities. It’s a portal to escapism or a playful femininity. Whether a cheap fabric or a masterpiece of Comme De Garcon, the pattern is a specimen of visual art. An art that cradled in the vicinity of Polka sheet music and mellowed into the darling Minnie Mouse sporting a red polka dress and a matching bow. The polka dots are a classic add to the couture featuring elegance and fashion throughout the era be it a dotty evening wear, look of a poolside chic or sheer abstract dress! Polka dots is for the spirit of the freedom of the 21st century and the removal of all restraints (and lines).

momentum in the industry in the past few years, trends breaking gender stereotypes have been on the go. From boyfriend jeans to dad sneakers gender neutrals have been the fashion staples this year. The inspiration derived by fashion houses from sports giants is being viewed as an answer for footwears to the recent shift of silhouettes to loose and wide clothing trends. The Raf Simons X Adidas Ozweego was one of the first ‘ugly trainers’ to re-ignite the presence of this trend in the industry after decades, but it was with the release of Balenciaga’s Triple S sneaker that this footwear craze became the seasonal trend.

FASHION NOW AND THEN
THE MUSING FASHION
They’ve been called ‘squad’, ‘gang’ , ‘army’ and ‘powerhouse girls’. They are the carriers of trends and the inspiration behind these designers.

very Art is inspired by the other and so are Fashion Designers. For Fashion Designers, a person or a personified force acts as an inspiration or as a Muse. Every now and then we hear fashion designers being asked about their outfit inspirations or their muses, who help them to let their creative definitions cross boundaries of normality. From aesthetics to the hint of glamour, the designers have a lot to look for. Not only celebrities or certain personalities act as an inspiration behind a collection but it could be anything from a memory to an experience that could serve as an origin of an idea. Designers are visionaries who can transform a raw experience under the creative lens into an embellished and enveloping outlook. Through their art, they take you to different place and time. These fantasies have helped the fashion brands since the very beginning. What started from Givenchy and his muse, Audrey Hepburn, is still traditionally followed by brands like Dior and Balmain. Audrey has acted as a muse for Givenchy, as the French designer revolutionized International fashion with the timeless stylish looks. Their relationship sparked together and
created what a concept that is contemporarily known as ‘Brand Ambassador’. Givenchy not only took the charge of Audrey’s personal couture but also designed her outfits for her on-screen appearances. “His are the only clothes in which I am myself. He is far more than a couturier, he is a creator of personality,” said Hepburn in an interview. Another famous duo which is quite reknowned for their collaboration is of Yves Saint Laurent and Betty Catroux. Known as ‘Twins’, they have worked together for almost three decades. The couturier’s feminine ideal and androgynous woman cannot be embodied by someone better than Betty Catroux. The two became inseparable after the met for the first time at Régine’s in Paris during the humble beginnings of Laurent’s career. Their 35 years relationship inspired Yves to inspire the concept of ‘squad’, which also aided in establishing the careers of Iman and Catherine Deneuve. These fashionable friendships in the industry have been very stirring . The models who have been inspiring the designers or brands, attend several brand campaigns and fashion shows and even make their red carpet appearances in those inspirational outfits. 59
“ The models incite the designers to direct their vision and also act like a mannequin, which can give back some constructive feedback and enhance the creative side of the designer”
The models incite the designers to direct their vision and also act like a mannequin, which can give back some constructive feedback and enhance the creative side of the designer. We often see pictures of Kim Kardashian and designer, Olivier Rousteing crashing the social media. Olivier Rousteing is the contemporary example of building a fashion house through muses and he famously calls his ‘squad’ as the ‘Balmain Army’. From Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Rihanna, to Kim Kardashian and Jourdan Dunn, Olivier Rousteing has built his squad since he took over as creative director, made up of fashion’s favorite model faces, hip hop singers and socialites, all with huge social media influence. Olivier feels that a muse should be different and contemporary. Kim Kardashian has inspired other designers like Riccardo Tisci and Valentino Garavani. Beyoncé, Marina Abramovié, and Pedro Almodovar have also been a muse to 60Riccardo Tisci who called these girls as the Givenchy
Girls, during his former term at Givenchy. Scrolling through Ricardo’s instagram, you would notice a bustling imagery of all the girls who have inspired him in his work. “It’s a real relationship. I have what Hubert [de Givenchy] used to have with Audrey [Hepburn],” Tisci told W in September 2010. All his muses fell into a constant frame - powerhouse women who wear and inspire his clothing. Each of the girl is a carrier of a theme that ran down his collections, encompassing a diverse cast of models. The formidable duo, Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi teamed up once again for the Fall/Winter collection of this year by Fendi. The muse embraced her free spirit confined with highly chic and polished collection. The focused point was the fine craftsmanship and the sheer dresses with embroidery and florals. The ‘double F’ logo print and patchwork velvet which was mixed with striped mink and leather fringe also made the muse grab attention.
Amidst these model muses, Fendi and Ferretti also found their muse in Mother Nature. Their outfits were inspired by the climatic changes and the conflict between the climate and the urban life. They included supple leathers in coral shades, Mid-calf skirts with oversize rustic corset lacing and those snaked around pockets along with flowers cut from glossy skins and nailed onto chiffon strapless dresses, hemmed in ribbed knits. It is not just the models or actors who influence the designers. A lot of fashion makers like Stella McCartney, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Alessandro Michele, and Tom Ford revealed how their family has acted as a muse for the designs and trends they set. The art that these fashion architectures create is through the observation and style of every being around them. These muses are definitely to be recognized when it comes to praising the designer’s creative inspiration and the millennial style that tumbles after.

Pastel Pinks and Blues (and lilac)
I
n the beauty industry, shades and colors change with the seasons and considering that nowadays social media is filled with dark, smoky eyes, pastel makeup trends for fall are like a breath of fresh air. There’s no denying that pastel makeup is a throwback to the 80’s whimsical shades. However, at that time many women felt that they couldn’t try pastels because their skin was too dark. Today thanks to new technologies, pastel tones have more dimensions without looking ashy or flat. This fall, color is becoming really predominant. That’s why pastel tones come in many different forms; from colored mascaras providing a spectacular pop of color, to dreamy highlighters outright inspired in unusual aesthetics such as unicorns and space.

oft and bright colors are perfect for summer months. Take for example canary yellow and baby blues—paired with minimal or nude eyeshadow and eyeliner, both look amazing and fresh. Other good color choices are lively pinks and salmons. On the other hand, yellow shades look good on every type of skin. They also look incredible on green, bright eyes. Pastel blue (like Tiffany blue) is a great choice for blue and green eyes. If your eyes are brown or hazel, then lavender and soft lilacs are perfect for you.

THE PERFECT nude SHADE 66
Beauty brands standing for inclusivity
I
n fashion, nude is one color trend that never seems to go out of style. Because of that, today we will discuss the onset of brands developing the perfect nude shades. Celebrity stylist David Zyla breaks down the nude range into five groups— whites, pinks, yellows, beiges, and browns. However, for years women of color have lamented the lack of diversity on nude shades. As a response, many beauty brands are increasing their range of neutral tones makeup. Such is the case of Fenty Beau-
ty by Rihanna, created with the promise of inclusion for all women. Launched in September 2017, Fenty Beauty became extremely popular for its broad inclusivity across skin tones due to its extensive selection of skin-neutral tones. Subsequently, more brands like Huda Beauty and even the legendary Dior followed Rihanna’s example, expanding their selection of nude shades to include more diverse tones. Though it can be a little difficult to choose the perfect nude shades that fit our skin perfectly, we are here to help— check out our list of the perfect nude shades!

lipsticks that are a mix of demure and daring shades with names accredited to wild flowers such as Moon Orchid and Carnal Carnation. What made their way into the range are the cute bloating papers which are duly inspired by Erdem’s sister who used to use Japanese ones at high school. And not to forget the special mention in the range i.e the Lip Powder Poison Rose Palette. Considering this particular product closest to his heart, he elaborates on the beautifying effect of really matt red lips. He truly considers this particular product as a tangible reminder of his mother wearing red lipstick as a symbol of the fact that she is ready to confront the world. The whole range is so mesmerizing, that it will definitely make you feel want more of it. With the relentless efforts behind the major collaboration, it is indeed one of its kind and worth traversing the longest run.

estled in the heart of Morocco, Marrakech is a layered city which spirals outward from the central Medina, or Old City. It is an assault on the senses, which some visitors fall in love with straight away while others find it takes some getting used to. Colours radiate from the spice mounds in the Souks and the mosaic courtyards whilst market hawkers shout their wares and haggle loudly for the right price. The cloth-shaded market stalls and clay roads are reminiscent of something out of an Indiana Jones movie which adds to the excitement and charm of it all.

Marrakech is the most visited city in Morocco and as a result it is equipped with a police force designated to assist only tourists. Marrakech is relatively safe for tourists to explore but - as with most popular cities these days - mind your belongings in busy market streets. Most locals also know some English which can be useful, but keep in mind, no assistance or directions from locals come without a cheeky grin and a cupped hand awaiting a tip. The best times to visit Marrakech are between February and May when the temperatures are warm but not yet sweltering.

EAT & DRINK:
Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater Mario Badescu, $7
Morocco is known for its spicy and hearty foods. If eating on the streets, seek out busy stalls as this is a sign of good quality food. If looking for a more conventional eating experience, find a rooftop café where you can sip refreshing mint tea and tuck into a tagine stew whilst watching the sun go down over the Medina. There are so many rooftop spots to choose from but Nomad Café has become popular thanks to its great food and bohemian style. For a more family-friendly option, make sure to stop by Naranj for great local dishes in a comfortable and modern setting.

Rosemary Hair Oil, Weleda, $20
SHOP: STAY: Riads are by far the most popular places to stay in Marrakech. A riad is a traditional house that is built around a central garden or courtyard. These mosaic masterpieces have mostly turned into bed and breakfasts or boutique hotels, and have become very popular amongst tourists seeking Instagram-worthy accommodation. Riad Andaloussia is a gorgeous mid-level BnB and oozes with Arabian Nights charm. For a touch of luxury, you can check into palace-like La Mamounia Hotel and enjoy their top-class spa and restaurants.
Marrakech was founded as Morocco’s major market city and nothing has changed. Almost every road you wander down is part of a souk. Souq Semmarine and Souq el-Kabir are not only the biggest markets, but boast some of the best quality leatherware in the world. High fashion and galleries can be found on high streets such as Rue Yves Saint Laurent.
MIRACLE MUSEUMS:
TRAVEL
The Museum of Marrakech is a great place to go to get a feel for the city’s culture and history. However, the most beautiful place to visit has to be the Dar Si Said. This mosaic palace is a work of art and you can spend hours exploring the marbled rooms. There are also exquisite examples of pottery, rugs, traditional weaponry and jewellery on display.
BEAUTY:
Clay hair and faciasl mask, Rhassoul $19.49
Travelers looking to relax and treat themselves must visit a spa for a traditional hammam treatment. These treatments typically involve sitting in steam rooms before having an experienced professional stretch your limbs, however the more modern spas now tend to include scrubs and facials. The luxury spa at La Mamounia hotel is very popular for a modern hammam experience.
FESTIVALS: Marrakech is growing in popularity as a destination for festivals and races. The most famous of which being the Marrakech International Film Festival which is held at the end of November each year and a must visit for all Indie film enthusiasts. Whether you go and watch the films or not, the city bubbles over with the added energy making it a lively and exciting time to visit.
Marrakech is a city of levels, with an experience waiting for every kind of traveller. One can happily get lost in the maze of streets, sampling spices and treats whilst haggling for leather goods. The next level up, history and culture enthusiasts can wander from museums and galleries to homes previously inhabited by some of history’s greatest artists. Finally, on the rooftop cafés, travellers can relax into antique furniture looking down at the hectic bustle below and sip an embossed glass of mint tea. It is hard not to fall in love with Marrakech. The city is becoming trendy and a hub for everything arts and culture, but underneath all of that it is still raw and real, producing an experience like no other.
INDULGE: Although a dominantly Muslim community, clubs and bars have sprung up all over the city to accommodate the international visitors. Many of the most popular spots have continued Marrakech’s stuckin-time appeal by opting for 1920’s décor. Le Comptoir is a favourite as you can sit in the gorgeous Art Nouveau furniture, sip on cocktails and watch belly dancers shimmy from one table to the next.
