Canada Offers Leadership on the Syrian Refugee Crisis The Government of Canada is taking immediate action to welcome 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada as quickly as possible, through a five-phase national plan. Canada can and will do more to help Syrian refugees who are desperately seeking safety, by offering them a new home. The five phases are identifying Syrian refugees to come to Canada, selecting and processing Syrian refugees overseas, transportation to Canada, arrival and welcoming in Canada, and settlement and community integration. Protecting the safety, security, and health of Canadians and refugees is a key factor in guiding the Government of Canada’s actions throughout this initiative. The government will identify all 25,000 refugees to come to Canada by December 31, 2015. Of those selected, the target is to have 10,000 Syrian refugees arrive in Canada by the end of this

Canada’s Vulnerable Muslim community
Unfortunately, the hijabi ladies in Canada continue to be in trouble again after the Paris-massacre which was carried out by the cruel ISIS terrorists. Probably, the frustrated hate mongers are over-reacting due to the scheduled arrival of 25000 Syrian refugees to Canada. Nevertheless, the reaction appears to be based on multiple factors including bias against people who practise religion of Islam. Here again, Harper era is to blame for the spread of anti Muslim feelings irresponsibly. Although, days of “politics of fear” are over and there is no divisive politics any longer, yet the side effects are appearing now. Besides burning of a mosque in Peterborough Ontario, the misled cowards are making trouble for the hijabi females. Recently, A hijabi lady was on her way to pick up her kid from school in Toronto; she was attacked and badly injured by the anti Muslim rascals. Hardly a couple of days later, two Muslim women riding the TTC were called “terrorists” and pushed. Luckily, a bystander stopped the train to get help. TTC spokesman Brad Ross said two women wearing hijabs were on the eastbound train between Bloor and Sherbourne stations “doing nothing but minding their own business” when two men and a woman began taunting them. “They were making racist comments towards these women, suggesting they must be terrorists and were going to blow up the train,” Ross said. Also Metrolinx officials found racist graffiti directed at Muslims in a washroom on a GO train coach and they responded quickly. “We have absolutely no tolerance for discrimination or racism,” Metrolinx spokesman Anne Marie Aikins said. “This illegal act of vandalism is
deeply offensive and in no way reflects our organization’s values. “We extend our sincerest apology to any customers who may have seen the offensive post. As soon the graffiti was discovered by our staff, the coach was taken out of service so it could be removed. We are also conducting an investigation to determine if we can identify the person or persons responsible.” don.peat@sunmedia.ca cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/muslimwomen-subway-slursTTC condemns incident, says it has ‘zero tolerance’ for anti-Muslim behaviour Mohamed El Rashidy, a lawyer with the Canadian Arab Federation, said there’s been a spike in hate crime numbers this year — though many more go unreported. “People are calling me and they’re scared,” he told CBC News. “We say enough. We call on all Canadians to come together,” said Debbie Douglas, executive director of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants. She pointed out that the recent attacks have been both Islamophobic as well as sexist, as it’s primarily hijab-wearing women who have been the target of attacks. Blaming Muslims for the Paris attack, and being fearful of all Muslims, including Syrian refugees, is like holding all Christians responsible for the atrocities we know as the Inquisition, Crusades, Wars of religion, KKK, Slavery, and antiSemitism. Thought provoking: Right after the Paris attacks the shares of the entire major US defense contractors soared. Fact is there is a lot of racism in Canada, however, Islam is not a race. White people, black people, brown people and Asians can be Muslim. Note: Some people out there are
always looking for an excuse to attack immigrant communities. Peterborough-Kawartha MP Maryam Monsef, a Muslim who came to Canada as a refugee from Afghanistan 20 years ago, said she was “shaken up” by news of the fire. The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, issued the following statement on the fire that took place at the mosque in Peterborough: “I am deeply disturbed by the fire that took place at the Kawartha Muslim Religious Association’s mosque in Peterborough on November 14, 2015. “The values that make our country great are values that celebrate our diversity and our religious tolerance. Canada is a country that is strong, not in spite of our differences, but because of them. Muslim-Canadians contribute enormously to the social and economic fabric of our nation, and Canadian authorities will not abide innocent and peaceful citizens being targeted by acts of vandalism and intolerance. “The recent terrorist attacks in Paris have shocked peace-loving people in all countries around the world. We must remain focused on those responsible for the atrocities committed in France. It is equally important for Canadians to understand that Muslims around the world are also being persecuted regularly by these violent extremists. We are in this together. “To the families who attend the mosque for prayer every week, the Government of Canada and our law enforcement agencies will protect your rights and make every effort to apprehend any perpetrator. I hope your mosque will be open for prayer again very soon.”
Trudeau ‘deeply disturbed’ by Peterborough mosque fire In a statement the Prime Minister assured Muslim Canadians the country’s law enforcement agencies will work hard to find those responsible for what is being investigated as a hate crime. Community leaders in Peterborough, Ont., where a mosque was set aflame over the weekend, came together on Monday to condemn the attack, which police are investigating as a hate crime. Thank you Mr Trudeau! You are a true Canadian leader! Summing up: •No one is above the law, so I am confident that our justice system is intact.
•Intelligent Canadians continue to blame individuals and not race nor religion for the actions of these cowards.
•ISIS is using Islam as their weapon, so we can’t be stupid enough to blame an entire religion (and its followers) for ISIS. It’s just fuelling hatred and division, which is what ISIS wants us to do! •Canadians have to protect themselves not just from outside threats like ISIS, but also from falling prey to prejudice. •Those who attack innocent Muslims living peacefully are just helping ISIS terrorists in their cause. •Terrorists have no religion; ISIS is so organised as to kill innocent Muslims and other innocent people around the globe. •The media should act more responsibly by not sensationalizing the issues of grave concern. •Terrorism in any form is unacceptable in Canada. •During Oct elections, Canadians have rejected those who love wars. •Salutation to the Liberals: They are in favour of peace keeping role under the banner of U.N.

Let’s Please Allah (SWT) .By: Rahma Khan I am sorry to say but we have a major problem in our generation today. We do not care about our blessed Ummah as much as we are required too, and this is a serious problem. Instead of posting important messages on Islam, we would rather post where we went today or what we are doing. We celebrate birthdays and other non-Islamic events. We have been delaying our salah and we do not care. I’m sure you can already tell that this is not good. We do not want to regret this behaviour on the day when our eyes meet the fire. The day the Almighty will question us on our actions. We must change our actions and make a positive impact on our special Ummah, and spread the word of ‘peace’ across the world. The blessed Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was once seen sobbing under a tree. A Sahabi asked him why. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) re-
sponded by answering, “The future of my Ummah makes me worried until I cry”. And he raised his hands and prayed, “Oh Allah (SWT), please don’t let this nation fade!”. And Subhan Allah, he was that worried for us. So what will we say on the Day of Judgement when we see Prophet Muhammad (SAW)? Let us all think of that, and strive to become and be seen as the best nation possible, Insha Allah, and please Prophet (SAW) and Allah (SWT) on that day.
Senior Citizenship Grant? By: Mohamed Sajid This is to congratulate Br Sattar and the Miracle media group to publish bluntly and openly the letter that it’s quite POSSIBLE the the Senior Citizens Center grant was from a haram source. Food for thought and definitely requires an explanation from BCMA. Ignoring the haram source and condoning this with a silly explanation that all federal grants are haram, reminds me of an equally stupid excuse for not bathing ie why bathe when it’s obvious you will sweat profusely minutes after the bath in a country like Saudi. On this same note, I wish to bring to the attention of your esteemed
readers on how HALAAL it is to eat at restaurants that actually serve alcohol. Is that not a joke to call such an outlet as serving HALAAL food??? I do not wish to name such outlets. Par samajdhar ko ishara kaafi hai. (Even a mere hint is sufficient for a smart person) . . . .
Syrian Refugees in Canada! By: Balwant Sanghera Richmond Multicultural Community Services Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Canadian government must be commended for opening Canada’s doors to 25,000 Syrian refugees. This is a very desirable, noble and compassionate gesture to help those in need. Though the time line is bit tight yet, with all of the resources at the disposal of the government, it shouldn’t be that much of a problem. Richmond is a very caring, inclusive and compassionate community. It is likely that we will be getting quite a few of the Syrian refugees. In this context, it may be appropriate to mention that Richmond Multicultural Community Services (RMCS) has been serving this community in the area of settlement and integration of newcomers and refugees for over thirty years. As a matter of fact, RMCS celebrated its 30 th anniversary last week. This non-profit community based organization is well experienced and equipped to help
new comers and refugees settle in this community. Hopefully, RMCS will get an opportunity to be an active participant in this process.
ISCC and MAT Strongly Condemn Terrorist Attacks in Paris By:ISCC and MAT founder Imam Syed Soharwardy, Calgary Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and Muslims Against Terrorism strongly condemn today’s terrorist attacks in Paris. “The Muslim community in Canada and around the world is shocked and saddened by these attacks. The attackers must be brought to justice and punished”, said Imam Syed Soharwardy, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and Muslims Against Terrorism today. Regardless what the attackers were shouting at the time of attacks and whatever their names may be we Muslims do not consider them Muslims. The attacks in Paris are in fact attacks on Islam and Muslims too. ISCC and MAT express deep sympathies with the victims and their families. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our French brothers and sisters. This is indeed a very difficult time for France. The Muslim community stands with the people of France at this difficult time.

Bangladesh irked by Pakistani statements in favour of hanged politicians
Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed on Wednesday instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge strong protest against Pakistan’s statement on the execution of opposition leaders Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojahid. “Pakistan interfered in our ‘domestic affairs’ in the past too. It is not acceptable,” she said. Hasina also criticised the role of some media houses for highlighting the anguish of the families of the hanged politicians. “It can send a wrong message,” she said. On Sunday, Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that murder of humanity and revenge to ‘Pakistanism’ should come to an end now. A group in Bangladesh could not see restoring the atmosphere of brotherhood between people of the two countries, he said. “We have the idea that who is behind that group, and it played what role in the incidents of 1970-71,” he added. He said that Pakistan was very much in the know that which forces were stopping people of the two countries from getting closer to each other, and the conspirator elements behind it. Being a Pakistani, he said that he had the feelings that whatever was happening
in Bangladesh, it was against and in violation of international laws and human rights. “I am upset that we could not do anything for those who just had the fault of being loyal to their motherland and supported constitution at that time – 45 years back,” he said. Home Minister of Bangladesh Asaduzzaman Khan had said that both Salahuddin and Mujahid were hanged after President Abdul Hamid rejected appeals for clemency by the two men. More than 15 people have been convicted of ‘war crimes’ in a series of rulings handed down by two separate tribunals set up by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed in 2010. US lawmakers – overseeing foreign policy – described the war crimes tribunal as very flawed and a means of political retribution. The State Department said that the executions should not take place until it’s clear the trial process meets international standards. Stephen Rapp, who until August served as President Barack Obama’s ambassador for the war crimes, said it was disturbing that Salahuddin was denied the right to call alibi witnesses, including a former US ambassador, to provide testimony that he was not present in Bangladesh at the time the alleged crimes were committed. Human Rights Watch said the tribunal allowed the prosecution to call 41 witnesses, while Salahuddin’s defence was limited to four witnesses. The New York-based group said that Mujahid was sentenced to death for instigating his subordinates to commit abuses, although no subordinates testified or were identified. In a letter sent to the top US diplomat for South Asia, leaders of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee voiced concern that democratic space was shrinking amid a growing climate of violence, fear and self-censorship in Bangladesh, which is mostly Muslim but has a strong secular tradition source: express tribune
Muslim World League’s secretary general appreciated the PM’s vision and ideas for cooperation among Muslim countries. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Pakistan is ready to extend every possible support for the collective benefit of the Muslim World, Radio Pakistan reported. During a meeting with the secretary general of Muslim World League Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsin Alturki at PM House, the premier said that Muslim world can actively cooperate in the field of trade and commerce. Nawaz was of the view that the Muslim leadership shall come forward to explore such opportunities to increase trade among them and work together for collective benefit. He also appreciated the Muslim World League’s (MWL) ef-
forts for the welfare of Islamic nations. Abdullah appreciated the prime minister’s vision and ideas for cooperation among Muslim countries. The Muslim World League is an international nongovernmental Islamic organisation based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. It was formed following a meeting of 22 prominent Muslim religious figures, in accordance with a resolution adopted during the meeting of the General Islamic Conference. The then Crown Prince Faisal Bin Abdul-Aziz was seen as the founding figure of the organisation. Since its inception, the MWL, according to its claim, has been working on promoting the adherence to a clear teaching of Islam. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the leading contributor member of the Muslim countries funding the Muslim World League.
The gap between the number of male and female voters in the country is widening at an alarming rate, reveals a report published by the Free and Fair Elections Network (Fafen) on Wednesday. It says registered male voters outnumbered their female counterparts by 11.65 million in September 2015, when the Election Commission of Pakistan updated its electoral lists ahead of local government elections in Punjab and Sindh. In contrast, there were 10.97 million more male voters than female voters before the May 2013 general elections, meaning the gap has increased by roughly 68,000 over the past two and a half years. This is despite the fact that the number of registered voters increased by 6.83 million – 3.74 million men and 3.07 million women – between 2013 and 2015. The increase in disparity appears more drastic when compared to earlier levels. In 2008, there were 82 female registered voters for every 100 male voters, according to the Fafen report. Currently, the ratio stands at 75 female voters for every 100 male voters. Some statisticians have even contested the authenticity of the total number of registered voters in Pakistan as no census has been conducted in the country since 1998.
“I think there should have been between 20 million to 22 million more voters given demographic trends and population estimates in Pakistan,” an official of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics told The Express Tribune. According to officials, half of the country’s total population should be above 18 years of age. Alarmingly, the gap between male and female voters widened in all provinces and in Islamabad. source: Dawn news

US coalition strikes in Syria Muslim-Americans fear ‘ugly rhetoric’ as Trump, Carson push for surveillance ‘killed 250 civilians’
At least 3,952 people have been killed in the US-led coalition’s campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group in Syria, according to a monitoring group. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Monday the death toll included a total of 250 civilians. The air strikes occurred in the period between September 2014 and November 23, 2015, SOHR said. The US announced the formation of the coalition against ISIL in Syria and Iraq in September 2014 which then included 28 countries. It now includes 65 countries. Among those killed were 66 children below the age of eight, and 44 children above the age of 18. At least 3,547 ISIL fighters were killed in air strikes on Hama, Aleppo, Homs, Hasaka, Raqqa and Deir Az Zor. The air strikes also killed 136 al-Nusra
Front fighters. The US Combined Joint Task Force’s Public Affairs desk told Al Jazeera the US Central Command (CENTCOM) takes all allegations of civilian casualties seriously and applies standards in its targeting process to avoid or to minimise civilian casualties. “We take all allegations of civilian casualties seriously, and we apply very rigorous standards in our targeting process to avoid or to minimise civilian casualties in the first place,” a CENTCOM media officer said. “We take great care - from analysis of available intelligence to selection of the appropriate weapon to meet mission requirements - in order to minimise the risk of collateral damage, particularly any potential harm to non-combatants. “One completed investigation into two allegations surrounding a November 5, 2014, air strike in Harim City, Syria was released May 21 and found, based on the preponderance of evidence, that two non-combatant children were likely killed from a US air strike. “We receive and review all allegations of civilian casualties no matter the source of the information,” they said. When asked about ISIL casualties, CENTCOM said it does not release the number of ISIL fighters killed. “As of November 13, the coalition has damaged or destroyed 16,075 targets.” The coalition is also involved in providing military support to their partners in Syria and Iraq, in addition to humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict. Child poverty rate remains high in B.C.
One in five children in B.C. are living in poverty, a rate that is virtually unchanged from last year, the 2015 BC Child Poverty Report Card shows. “The data in this report is evidence of a continuing child poverty crisis that reaches into every corner of the province,” said Cheryl Mixon, who chairs the First Call Coalition, which released the report card. “With a new federal government intent on developing a Canadian poverty reduction strategy that is to be aligned with provincial strategies, it’s time for B.C. to join the other provinces and develop a provincial poverty reduction plan.” The report card uses the “low income measure” after tax, which it says is the most common measure for making international comparisons. Using the measure, a singleparent family with two children earning less than $29,531 in after-tax income is considered living in poverty. The cut-off for a twoparent family with two children is $34,742. First Call says on its website that poverty “is toxic to children’s health and development. From poor nutrition to family stress to exclusion from social participation, there are many ways poverty is known to raise the risk of lifelong ill effects on health and reduce opportunities for children and youth to realize their full potential.” At 20.4 per cent, B.C.’s child poverty rate is higher than the Canadian average of 19 per cent and repre-
sents 167,810 children. About half of these children live in Metro Vancouver. For singleparent families, the numbers are even worse, with half living in poverty, compared to 13 per cent of children in two-parent families. The highest rate of poverty was in the Central Coast Regional District, where 50.6 per cent of all children live in poverty. “Poverty robs children of their potential,” said Michael McKnight, CEO of the United Way of the Lower Mainland. “It not only raises social costs, it threatens our future prosperity. We need a concerted effort from all levels of government to bring the poverty rate down for families with children.” The report card makes 21 recommendations to reduce child poverty to seven per cent or less by 2020, including $10-a-day child care, increases to welfare rates, and a higher minimum wage. The report uses 2013 statistics, the most recent that are available. Source: Vancouver Sun
Muslim-Americans who sued the New York Police Department over a surveillance program launched after 9/11 say calls from the Republican presidential campaign to put them under more scrutiny are recklessly seizing on public fears and distressing Muslims in the U.S. As national security has become a focus in the 2016 race after the Paris attacks, Donald Trump has declared “we’re being foolish, we’re kidding ourselves” if law enforcement doesn’t keep close surveillance on mosques, and he expressed support for the idea of a database for tracking Muslims in the United States. Another GOP contender, Ben Carson, said mosques, schools, supermarkets, car repair shops and “any place where radicalization is going on” should be monitored. Such rhetoric is “reckless and ignorant,” said attorney Baher Azmy, who is representing Muslim-Americans who sued the NYPD. “I think it has a deeper scar, a psychological scar, on the Muslim community, which is a consequence of these types of surveillance programs,” said Azmy, of the Center for constitutional Rights. “It’s dangerous because we’ve been down this road before and ugly rhetoric matched with political power can really harm actual people, real lives.” The Associated Press revealed in 2011 how New York police, in a since-disbanded demographics unit, infiltrated Muslim student groups, put informants in mosques and otherwise spied on Muslims as part of a broad effort to prevent terrorist attacks. A federal appeals court last month reinstated the lawsuit challenging the surveillance, comparing the spying to other instances of heightened scrutiny of religious and ethnic groups, including Japanese-Americans during the Second World War. A lower-court last year had concluded the police could not keep watch “on Muslim terrorist activities without monitoring the Muslim community itself.” That came after New York City argued that any harm suffered by Muslims was “self-imposed, based on subjective fears” that may have dissuaded them from gathering with other Muslims after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The city called the intelligence-gathering an appropriate and legal anti-terrorism tactic and said it never spied on people or businesses solely because they were Muslim. Wahy-ud Deen Shareef, president of the Council of Imams in New Jersey, said news of the demographics unit made some reluctant to gather at places that had been under surveillance, including mosques and businesses. He said it also hurt the trust that Muslims had developed with law enforcement after Sept.
11, something they’re still working to rebuild. Now, he said, comments in the 2016 campaign are playing on people’s ignorance both of Islam and of what Muslim communities have done to co-operate with law enforcement. “When you trample upon the rights that are entitled to all just because you have suspicions of a group, then you are trampling on the rights of all of the citizens,” Shareef said. In addition to pushing for monitoring and a registry, Trump has alleged that “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in Jersey City across the river from Manhattan celebrated from rooftops in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks, a scene at odds with the recollections of local officials and for which he has offered no proof. Carson made a similar allegation, then retracted it. More broadly, Republican presidential contenders expressed support for freezing the program to bring in 10,000 Syrian refugees, with several saying Syrian Christians should be given preference over others. But Trump’s rivals have disavowed the idea of making Muslims register in a database. In New York, the current New York police commissioner, William Bratton, disbanded the surveillance unit last year. Officials said a review concluded the same information could be better collected through direct contact with community groups. A senior NYPD official testified in 2012 that the unit never generated leads or triggered a terrorism investigation, but former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other officials have said the surveillance helped the nation’s largest police department identify and thwart terrorist plots. Those who are suing over the program want the NYPD banned from targeting people based on religion. They are seeking compensatory damages for those who suffered economic harm and want all records from unlawful spying expunged. Linda Sarsour, director of the Arab American Association of New York, said Muslims in the city remain worried about surveillance even with the unit shut down, and what’s happening in the campaign deepens their fear. “The rhetoric from people like Donald Trump reinforces this program and it creates even more support for the general public to engage in unwarranted surveillance based on people’s faith,” she said. “The rhetoric just continues to isolate and marginalize Muslim communities. People are not feeling welcome in this country.” “People are afraid,” she said. “People are hoping this is another stage and we’re going to get through it again.” Source: The Star

Indiana governor sued over bid to block refugees
The American Civil Liberties Union has launched a lawsuit against Indiana Governor Mike Pence for trying to block the resettlement of refugees in the US state. Ted Faulk, a legal director for ACLU’s Indiana chapter, told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that Pence’s decision to order local refugee programmes to not cooperate with the federal government was “unconstitutional”, because states do not have the authority to prevent the accommodation of refugees within their borders. “The governor has no right to dictate what to do with funds allocated by the federal government for refugees,” he said. “The state has already sent away a family of refugees to Connecticut,” Faulk added. The ACLU said in a statement that it launched the suit on Monday against the governor and the Secretary of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. Pence’s spokeswoman Kara Brooks reacted on Tuesday with a statement which said the governor was confident he has the legal authority to suspend the state’s participation in the refugee programme. “The governor believes that caution and compassion are not mutually exclusive. We can take measures
to ensure the security of our nation even while we continue to extend support and refuge to people around the world fleeing from the ravages of hardship and war,” Brooks said. Thirty-one state governors, nearly all of which are from the right-wing Republican party, have announced that they would reject refugees. New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan is the lone Democrat to have joined the group. The number of states opposing refugees have grown gradually after a series of assaults claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group killed 130 people in Paris on November 13. Several governors cited allegations that a Syrian passport found at the site of an attack in the French capital had belonged to one of the suspected assailants as a cause of their concerns in allowing refugees into their states. In an effort to change their stance on refugees, the Syrian American Council (SAC), a Washington-based rights group, told Al Jazeera that it has launched a nationwide campaign, including in Indiana, to encourage the governors to engage in direct meetings with refugees. Omar Hossino, a SAC spokesperson, said: “We are confident that once they meet refugees and hear their stories, they will realise that the Syrian people share the same fears of violence as them.” “We understand where they are coming from, but we are confident they will reconsider their decision,” he said. “We also hope the broader public will become more welcoming [of refugees]”. Hossino also said the SAC initiative has been gaining support from various rights and religious organisations, including ACLU, as well as a number of Jewish and Christian groups. Source: Al-Jazeera
Israel to displace thousands of Palestinian Bedouins
An Israeli plan to build several new Jewish communities in the Negev region of the country’s south will displace thousands of Palestinian citizens of Israel from two Bedouin villages, rights groups have said. Approved by the Israeli government on Sunday, the plan allows for the construction of five new Jewish planned communities, two of which will be on top of a pair of Bedouin villages. Bir Hadaj village is home to at least 6,000 people, while an estimated 1,500 live in Katama village, which is classified by the government as an “unrecognised” village. “This is part of an ongoing policy of pushing Palestinian Bedouins off their land in the Negev,” Sana Ibn Bari, a lawyer for the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), told Al Jazeera. Israeli Minister of Housing Yoav Galant praised the government’s decision and said the government should aim “to turn [the Negev region] into a desired and flourishing area, in accordance with the Zionist vision”. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Sunday for more Jewish communities “to be built quickly while bypassing bureaucratic processes”. An estimated 1.7 million Palestinians who carry Israeli citizenship live in cities, towns and villages across the country. “We will potentially have to deal with the eviction of thousands of people from their homes,” Ibn Bari said. “If the government wants to establish new Jewish settlements, why are they doing it on top of existing Arab communities?” In a joint press release, the Israeli rights group Bimkom joined ACRI in condemning the measure as “especially harmful for the Bedouin community”. Sunday’s decision was made just a month after Israel razed the Negev village of al-Araqib for the 90th time since 2010. Scattered across the Negev, some 80,000 Palestin-
ian Bedouins live in 40 villages that are not recognised by the Israeli government. They are denied access to state resources such as electricity, water, paved roads, clinics and education. The Israeli government claims these villages were built without permits, while residents say most of them - including Katama and al-Araqib - predate Israel’s 1948 establishment. In December 2013, under pressure as protests gripped the country, Israel froze the Prawer Plan, a programme designed to forcibly relocate an estimated 40,000 Bedouins in the Negev. But ACRI’s Ibn Bari says that village evacuations and home demolitions have continued without pause since that time. “The government is still not willing to find a solution,” she said. Israeli policy aims to “promote Jewish settlements and put Jewish citizens in the place of Arabs who have already lived on these lands for more than six decades,” she added. A diverse community of Christians, Muslims, Druze and Palestinian citizens of Israel suffer from more than 50 discriminatory laws that muzzle their political expression and stifle their access to state resources, according to the Adalah Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights. The Israeli government has cracked down on Palestinians in Israel, according to Yousef Jabareen, a Knesset member and politician from the Joint List electoral coalition. “The idea is to delegitimise our political role in Israeli politics [which] serves Netanyahu to go ahead with his discriminatory policy against the Arab community in Israel, such as the demolition of these villages,” Jabareen told Al Jazeera. US Muslim forced off plane cites Islamophobia
After passing through regular security checks at Newark Liberty International Airport on her way to a holiday in Istanbul, Kameelah Rasheed was called for further questioning by customs officers. She was later allowed on the United Airlines flight, but eventually forced to leave the aircraft ahead of takeoff to be interrogated by an FBI agent. The 30-year-old Muslim American told Al Jazeera on Wednesday that the two-and-ahalf-hour ordeal a day earlier has left her traumatised and unable to consider flying any more. “It was an attempt to humiliate and ostracise me,” she said. “I think this happened because I’m Muslim, because I’m travelling to Istanbul, because they have power with no checks and balances, because security means violating people’s rights, because there’s a general lack [of understanding of] what safety means, because people don’t understand basic geopolitical situations.” Al Jazeera has contacted the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates Newark Liberty airport, for comment. Rasheed is one of a number of Muslims in the US, or people perceived to be Muslim, who say they have been on the receiving end of profiling since the attacks in Paris on November 13, which were claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group. Rasheed said that she was the only passenger of about 200 who was asked to leave the flight on Tuesday, as the customs officers confiscated her passport and phone. “I was the only visibly Muslim person,” said the New York resident, who wears a headscarf. Rasheed,
an artist, educator, Stanford University graduate, Fulbright scholar and contributing editor at The New Inquiry, added that while the airline had booked another ticket for her, she was scared of being targeted again on her onward journey and chose not to travel. “I don’t think there is a resurgence of Islamophobia after the Paris attacks. I think it never went away. It’s becoming more legitimised. “Right after 9/11, you could do it [commit hate crimes towards Muslims] for a couple of years and no one would blame you… And now after Paris, it’s like, ‘look at what they did, I can treat them how I want’. We didn’t make any progress.” The customs officers asked her several of the same questions repeatedly, she said, including: “Why are you flying? Where are you going in Istanbul? How can you afford to go on holiday? How much was the ticket price?” “The questions were circular and nonsensical,” she said. “I wasn’t going to the border with Syria. I was going to the tourist locations, to see the Hagia Sophia and take a ferry across the Bosphorus.” Rasheed was accused of having booked a one-way ticket, even after showing evidence of return flight tickets to the officers on her phone. “I honestly feel very traumatised and shaken. I don’t feel comfortable flying at all,” she said. “I’m still very angry and hurt, but I have to temper that with not having expectations for being treated better. I shouldn’t expect any better. This is the militarised state that we have decided to live in. “These are the consequences of me being Muslim and black and American - everything
Canada’s Refugees Plan .. Cont from Page 1 year, and the remainder to arrive by the end of February 2016. We will ensure we are prepared to welcome these refugees properly in our communities, by continuing to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, and other partners. This timeframe will also allow for the completion of the immigration process overseas. It is important that Canada respond and demonstrate clear action. To meet this commitment, the government will work with the governments of Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey, along with international and Canadian partners. Canada will be working closely with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to identify registered Syrian refugees who can be resettled. Canada’s focus will be on identifying vulnerable refugees who are a lower security risk. Robust health and security screening will be completed overseas. This will include the collection of biographic information and biometric screening of all refugees, verified against databases. The government also has several thousand applications in processing for privately spon-

This is what it is.” She added that she has been stopped for extra security several times before. “It’s frustrating to me that I can’t fly like a normal human being,” she said. “My mum was saying to tie my scarf another way. I can’t be out in the world like other people without having to rearrange my entire life because someone else fears me for something I had nothing to do with?” Last Tuesday, Spirit Airlines removed four passengers, reportedly of Middle Eastern descent, from a flight out of Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Airport after a witness reported suspicious activity. Details of the “suspicious activity” emerged later; the Middle Eastern passenger had reportedly been watching a news report on the phone. Last Wednesday, US citizens from Philadelphia Maher Khalil and Anas Ayyad were asked to step aside before boarding a Southwest flight at Chicago Midway airport. A fellow passenger had heard them speaking Arabic and complained to staff of being afraid to fly on the same aircraft. They were questioned by police. Also last Wednesday, six Muslim passengers were removed from a second Southwest flight - also travelling from Chicago, reportedly because of a dispute over a seating arrangement. “We’re witnessing an increase in these kinds of reports,” Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American Relations (CAIR), told Al Jazeera. “It’s part of an overall rise in antiMuslim sentiment following the Paris attacks. “We’re getting a lot of reports from individu-
als who say they are fearful of travelling. Some Muslims are even concerned about leaving their homes.” A report released by CAIR on Tuesday listed alleged hate crimes towards members of the US’ Muslim minority since November 13 or those perceived to be Muslim. It cited at least 12 instances of intimidation, threats and violence against places of worship, and six examples of violence against individuals - including shots fired into a couple’s home, and an assault on a pregnant woman. “Our nation’s leaders need to speak out against this type of anti-Muslim hate. The American Muslim community is a small minority and we by ourselves, we can’t push back against the tide of anti-Muslim sentiment,” said Hooper. “What we’re seeing is the end result of the mainstreaming of Islamophobia by leading public officials, such as Ben Carson and Donald Trump. They have given some form of legitimacy to those who would carry out anti-Muslim attacks or profiling. “It has taken us back almost to the dark ages of the 1930s.” He added that, unlike former US President George W Bush, the country’s current leader Barack Obama has never publicly visited a US mosque, a move that would give some reassurance to the community that it is protected against such attacks. “We always anticipated a rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric in the presidential campaign,” he said. “Where from here? I don’t think Islamophobia is going to go down. It’s going to go up.” Source: Al-Jazeera
sored refugees (PSRs) under way, and these will be included as part of the commitment. The majority of these will be finalized in the coming weeks. These refugees will be admitted into Canada, in either Montreal or Toronto, and then continue directly on to their destination community. Resettling 25,000 refugees to Canada is a national effort that will require significant coordination and support. The Government of Canada is working with other orders of government, non-governmental organizations, partners and Canadians across the country to help ensure successful integration of Syrian refugees into their new host communities, where they will begin to build their new lives in Canada. The government’s commitment to bringing in Syrian refugees will continue in 2016. Given the current initiative includes privately sponsored refugees, this will include taking in more government-assisted refugees (GARs) to reach a total target of 25,000 GARs. Since the beginning of the conflict in Syria, Canada has contributed more than $800 million to support stabilization efforts, provide development assistance, contribute to humanitarian efforts, and enhance security.

Is Creation an Evolutionary Process? In recent years, the debate over teaching the account of human creation provided by religious texts has intensified in the U.S. Some Christians insist that schools teach “creationism” side by side with the theory of evolution. Most recently this call has been echoed by several Muslim writers, most notably the prolific Turkish scholar Harun Yahya. The call for embracing the theory of creationism should be treated with caution. Not only because it would undermine scientific research that aims at exploring metaphysical assertions through scientific methodology, which has for long been embraced and supported by Islamic scholarship, but also because it seems to contradict facts alluded to by the Qur’an itself. Undoubtedly, no human being has ever had the opportunity to witness the beginning of human life. We are members of a species whose origin is counted by tens – if not hundreds – of thousands of years. The many narratives about the origins of human life can be ultimately subsumed under two grand narratives: creation and evolution. Evolution is widely embraced by natural scientists who attempt to reconstruct the beginning of human life by tracing prehistoric animal life, finding in the shared biological traits of all living creatures evidence of common ancestry and common evolution. Human life, they claim, evolved from the general animal life through a process of “natural selection”. The followers of monotheistic religions, however, share a grand narrative that places the beginning of human life with the creation of the first masculine human being, Adam, along with his feminine spouse. The Qur’an describes human creation by narrating an exchange between God and the angles: “Behold, your Lord said to the angels: “I am about to create man from clay: When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My Spirit, fall down unto him.” (38:71-2) Another Qur’anic verse provides a similar but a more elaborate account. It describes that the clay from which the human body
was shaped went through organic transfor transformation that it turned into smelly and darkened clay: “Behold! Your Lord said to the angels: “I am about to create man, from dark malodorous clay, from mud molded into shape; “When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of my spirit, fall you down [in prostration] unto him.” (15: 28-29) The human being, according to the Qur’an, is made of earthly matter mixed with water, and left for a while until it went through a process of transformation. This clay had already gone through a transformation to become a malodorous and dark substance, thereby suggesting an organic process. This transformed clay was then molded into the human shape, and into which the Divine breathed a spirit derived from His own. The Qur’an is silent as to the nature of the process through which the human body took its final shape. Was the human body created instantaneously, or did it go through an evolutionary process? What is clear, though, is that the Qur’an places the question of the origin of life within the realm of natural observation rather than theoretical reflection. Thus, investigating human creation belongs to scientific observation and not to theology. “Say: Travel through the earth and see how God did originate creation; so will God produce a later creation: for God has power over all things” (29:20) Yet the Qur’an describes in so many different ways human creation as an elaborate and phased process, whereby the human being goes through various phases before

i evolves l i the h human h h h above b it into shape. The verses of Chap. 15 refer to a process of “molding into shape” or taswiyah that culminates in the human creation. In Chapter 7, the Qur’an refers to the two phases of human creation: the act of creation and the process of shaping: “It is We who created you then gave you shape; then We bade the angels bow down to Adam, and they bowed down; not so Iblis (Lucifer); he refused to be of those who bow down” (7:11). Indeed, the Qur’an describes human life as an ever evolving through distinct stages, taking different forms, beginning with the most primordial stage of earthly matter, the dust, through various stages in the mother’s womb, through the various stages of development from infancy, to full adulthood, to senility for those who reach the very advanced age, ending with death. “O mankind! if you have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (Our Power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babies, then (foster you) that you may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much). And (further), you see the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth in pairs” (22:5). In this account, one sees a clear allusion
t an evolutionary to p process of creat tion, in which life s starts with dust, and th then evolves into a s single cell (sperm) that m multiply to form a clot ( (‘alaqah) that grows into b bone and finally to flesh. W While the process that referred t here mainly describes the to g growth of the fetus in the mother’s w womb, the Qur’an starts its descript tion of the fetus’s growth by referring t the earthly dust, thereby suggesting to a comparable evolutionary process that was part of the act of creation of the first human being. This suggestion is further enforced by the conclusion of the verse, where the Qur’an invokes the ever observable process of rejuvenation of vegetation in the desert during the annual rain season. The return of life to an apparently lifeless desert after receiving heavy rain is gradual and relatively slow process associated with the growth of vegetation. While the Qur’an describes a purposive act of creation of human beings, it does not exclude an evolutionary biological process leading to the completion and physical maturation of the human being. What sets human and animal lives apart, according to the Qur’an, is not primarily the biological development of the human body, but the moral, intellectual, and spiritual capacity of the human spirit. Human life enjoys dignity that is unique to human being, dignity that is rooted in human spirituality, not biology. The debate over creation and evolution is lively one. While Muslims may question an account of evolution that is used to propagate a purposeless process of creation, it should not close the mind to scientific methods that look at natural evidence to figure out the natural dimension of human existence. BCMA Condemned Paris Attacks
Continued from Pg 2
Attacs on Paris By:(PCCA-BC): Vancouver, Pakistani Canadian Cultural Association of BC (PCCA-BC) condemns the horror-filled series of Terrorist attacks/assaults, that claimed atleast 153 lives in Paris and Saint-Denis, France. This leaves not only the nation of France in mourning and horrified, but also the World in a state of shock This is an attack not just on people residing within France, but an attack on all humanity and the universal values we share. Furthermore, PCCA-BC believes that this is an outrageous attempt to terrorise innocent civilians, and bring shame to humanity, so strongly built on love, compassion and peace. These random cowardly attacks of terrorists are something that we as determined-humanity will overcome together. PCCA-BC stands in solidarity and peace with France and all those affected, in these troubled times, and request the entire community to join hands in prayers to remember the lost lives
By: Daud Ismail The BCMA President On behalf of the Muslim communities of British Columbia, the BC Muslim Association categorically condemns senseless, brutal and cold-blooded crimes against humanity in Paris, France. These are criminals and cowards with no regard for the sanctity of human life. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and to the people of France. You are in our prayers that the Almighty God grant you patience in these difficult times. We stand in solidarity with people of conscience around the world.
‘Paris Massacre’! By: Gulshan Alani The tragedy of Paris massacre has shaken the world as usual as the attackers are identified as ISIS who carry the false ID of Islam and Muslims, as such crimes do not represent Islam. Surely, such attacks by any groups should be called ‘Barbaric terrorist act’ whether it be the killing of Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims by Buddhist extremists, or regular massacre of Palestinians by Israeli. etc. However, our deepest sympathy to the families of the victims who like any Muslim families going through hell for loosing their innocent loved ones.
National Online Reporter Global News One week after the devastating terror attacks in Paris, a new Ipsos poll shows a majority of Canadians disagree with the Liberal government’s plan to resettle 25,000 refugees by the end of the year. The Ipsos poll, conducted exclusively for Global News, found that 60 per cent of Canadians disagree with Justin Trudeau’s election promise to relocate 25,000 people displaced largely due to the conflict in Syria. How many of the refugees admitted to the U.S. are Christian? Are Muslim? According to an analysis by CNS News, of 2,184 Syrian refugees admitted into the U.S. since the Syrian civil war erupted in 2011, only 53 (2.4 percent) have been Christians while 2098 (or 96 percent) are Muslims. The remaining 33 include 1 Yazidi, 8 Jehovah Witnesses, 2 Baha’i, 6 Zoroastrians, 6 of “other religion,” 7 of “no religion,” and 3 atheists. Why do some lawmakers want to suspend the Syrian refugee program? Congressional Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, said there were grave reasons to fear that terrorists would be permitted to enter the country posing as refugees, according to the New York Times. Michael McCaul (R-TX), the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he was drawing up legislation to suspend the refugee resettlement program. “I call on you to temporarily suspend the admission of all additional Syrian refugees into the United States pending a full review of the Syrian refugee resettlement program,” Mr. McCaul wrote in a letter to Mr. Obama.
“Our nation has a proud tradition of welcoming refugees into our country, but in this particular case the high-threat environment demands that we move forward with greater caution,” Mr. McCaul added.
Killing innocents Killi i t is i one off the th major j sins, but ISIS doesn’t seem to care about sins, who is not fighting for Islam but against Islam, their treachery is evident in carrying the fake ‘Black Flag’ instead of Green, proves their evil intentions of enticing hatred and turning the whole world against Islam; their aim is to eliminate Islam, and the naive youth getting trapped, and others hateful of Islam taking an advantage, pretending to convert to Islam joining evil cause of ISIS, giving a bad name to the genuine converts like many of us, also the victims of fake Muslims. Regarding the ISIS agenda, Sheikh Soharwardy of ISCC explained the situation very well in his interview with CBC. Ken O’ Keefe in his writings explains his own ways, yet the theme is one: ISIS is anti-Islam, fearless of Allah-Creator GOD of the Universe, same GOD of Torah, the Bible, the Prophets Adam (AS), Israel-Jacob (AS), Abraham (AS), Moses (AS), and Messiah Jesus (AS). Just by using the fake ID of registered trade marks titles of ‘Islam & Muslim’, one cannot become a ‘Muslim’, neither by rejecting HIS sharia Divine law that has the ‘Red Tape’ for the fights and wars: fight is allowed only in self defense, fight face to face with the enemies away from the human habitats, not to hurt or kill the innocent civilians, or destroy their properties: Evidently, ISIS has violated most rules of Islam, including the divine law of: “There is no compulsion in
religion”: li i ” which hi h means fforceful f l conversion to Islam is the rule of ISIS, revenging innocents, is objecting the teaching of Universal Messenger Muhammad (SAWS), and denying divine order of: “The Father’s wrong doings the Son cannot be punished and V/V”. ‘ISIS treachery’ is jeopardizing the safe passage for refugees, and safety of true Muslims. Who are being retaliated, burning their Mosques and beat up Muslim women, by which we are contributing and supporting ISIS planned ideology, making them happy that their evil intention is successful. These are the signs of trials, and tribulations in an era of dajjal-anti-Christanti-Islam, who creates havoc in the world according to the Islamic and Bible prophecies. “It will be the most difficult and dangerous time for the Believers who passing by the Grave would say: “I wish I was in this Grave”. Gospel/saying of Prophet Muhammad SAWS. Let us perform our duty of true Samaritan the ‘keeper and protector’ of all humans, regardless of their color, culture or religion. Let us fear Allah whom we will face in HIS court on the Day of Judgement. The truth against falsehood cannot fail and evil will be defeated. May Allah remove this Black cloud of enmity against Islam, the innocent mankind and bring an end of calamities before the return of Messiah Jesus (AS).
On Thursday the House passed a bill that would block Syrian and Iraqi refugees from entering the country unless they pass strict background checks. The measure passed with the support of 47 Democrats and almost all House Republicans. Which state have refused to accept Syrians refugees? The 27 states whose governors have said they will not accept Syrian refugees are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. So while the state and local governments can refuse to cooperate with the federal government, they can’t expressly forbid refugees from being allowed into their states.

Paris attacks: Our victims, and their victims
BY :Diana Moukalled Web Editor at the Lebanon-based Future TV
Twitter user recently sent me a message criticizing my grief over the victims of the recent Paris attacks. He wrote: “These are infidels who we do not pray for to rest in peace regardless of whether it’s permissible to kill them or not.” Of course, I did not feel any desire to engage in a discussion with him or to respond to such logic. Unfortunately, this logic has been manifested in many reactions around us and has reflected confusion regarding shifts in emotions and sympathy based on countries, religion, sect and race. The situation certainly seems disappointing, especially when we feel surrounded by all this pain and bloodshed in the region to the extent where we’ve become deprived of basic primitive feelings, such as rejecting the murder of civilians even at a time when many civilians from our own countries often become murder victims.
“The belief is, those who are slain overseas are not our victims, and those who are slain here are not their victims” Barely anyone was spared from being criticized for voicing solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attacks committed by ISIS.
Most people took to social media and posted comments, images and flags of the countries targeted by ISIS in order to condemn all their attacks, particularly the Paris attacks. Facebook introduced a tool to add the French flag filter to profile photos, and many users used that tool to voice solidarity with the victims. However many were angered and confused by this move. Some created a similar tool to include the Lebanese flag filter and criticized how France received more global solidarity than Beirut, which had witnessed ISIS suicide bombings a day before the Paris attacks. Then, the series of bids for solidarity escalated. The Paris attacks were met with campaigns of solidarity and grief in western countries. However in our Arab world, they mainly stood out as points of controversy and dispute - which seem to be the only thing we are good at. Sympathy among us seemed to be conditional and many well-known media outlets were at some point directly involved in reinforcing these reservations, by adopting a malicious approach towards the event, its victims and perpetrators. Since absurdity has no limits, many fell into the trap of circulating the news of the murder of 147 students in Kenya and commented on the news with a demand that those sympathizing with the Paris attacks not to ignore Africa. Of course, it was clear that those who circulated this news on Kenya did not double check their information as the news had happened seven months ago. Unfortunately, only a few people bother to double check information amid this social media storm. Perhaps those who are concerned the most here are the Syrians, who cannot feel that any pain matches theirs, and the Lebanese people who’ve become used to explosions. The Iraqis have also gotten used to bombings for over a decade now. Meanwhile the Yemenis struggle to end the negligence towards their victims. Of course we’re not placing all these groups in one category according to identity or nationality. However there’s certainly a
frantic state of dispute regarding reactions to their crises. This implies we have not learned much from the abundant death tolls which have exhausted us as countries, individuals and societies. The belief is, those who are slain overseas are not our victims, and those who are slain here are not their victims. We are incapable of agreeing that a victim is a victim regard-
less of his/her nationality. Within our bias towards those victims is our declaration that their murderer is one and that we, too, are his victims. Syrian refugees coming to Canada: What you need to know
By:Citynews staff Immigration Minister John McCallum – flanked by fellow federal cabinet ministers Jane Philpott, Harjit Sajjan, Ralph Goodale and Mélanie Joly – revealed the details of Canada’s plan to resettle 25,000 refugees fleeing war-torn Syria. Here’s what you need to know about the ambitious humanitarian plan: Who’s coming? The federal government has pushed back their earlier deadline to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada by the end of this year — now the aim is to have 10,000 in Canada by Dec. 31. The remaining refugees should be here by the end of February. The refugees will most likely come from camps in Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon. People who have not left Syria cannot be considered refugees. Many refugees fled Syria with just the
clothes on their backs, and lack proper identification or passports, which makes Canada’s screening process difficult. People to be resettled in Canada have likely already been going through the screening process weeks or months in advance. Priority for government refugees will be given to families, women at risk, members of sexual minorities and single men only if they are identified as members of an LGBT community. How are they screened? Refugees are vetted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which determines which refugees are best for resettlement — usually women, families and those injured in conflict. They also look for security flags that would cause concern, namely affiliation with terrorist organizations. Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says Canada does additional screenings above the UN procedures, and CSIS is involved in that process. Refugees will have a security interview with visa officers, including document verification and gathering/checking biometric data, a health screening, and identification checks on departure and arrival. Any single hit on security checks and the refugee claim will be set aside, and officials move on to the next one. If any security or criminal concerns once here in Canada, Canadian Border Service Agency officers can intervene and have them deemed inadmissible, and possibly deported. How will they get here? Transportion will be carried out largely through private airline chartered flights. Military transportation will be used if neccessary.
Where will they be going first? All refugees arrive in Montreal or Toronto for processing, then off to final destinations across the country. Where will they be resettled? There is no breakdown of province-by-province numbers. Three Syrian families arrived in Calgary on Monday through sponsorship by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary, in partnership with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society. Mayor John Tory said he expects Toronto to take in between 2,000 and 2,500 refugees, but has not outlined where they will live. Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard has said that province has put aside money to support 3,600 people. CFB Trenton is planning to take in 1,000 refugees, and CFB Valcartier in Quebec is expected to house up to 500. The CBC reports that armed forces bases in Quebec and Edmonton are freeing up space and winterizing housing units to take in refugees. Military transportation and housing on military bases are considered a last resort and the Liberals hope to move refugees straight to communities – but 6,000 military beds are available if needed. What are the costs? The total cost is estimated at $678-million over six years, with the bulk of money in the first two. Large costs associated with resettlement, and provinces will be asking for monetary assistance as well. When they get to communities they will receive various support, including health care, housing and language training.

Interfaith Pilgrims Walk in Remembrance and Hope
An Interfaith Pilgrimage took place on Friday, Nov,20 to honour those who lost their lives in the recent attacks in Paris and Beirut and to foster friendship and understanding between people of different backgrounds and worldviews in Surrey. The Pilgrimage began at Northwood United Church (8855-156 St)at 9:00am and ended

All participants were encouraged to be self-sufficient in terms of food, water and clothing they needed on the pilgrimage. The event organizers came from a range of backgrounds and worldviews including Islam, Christianity, Atheism, Bahá’í, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism. Scott Reynolds, an event organizer from the United Church of Canada and student at the Vancouver School of Theology, reflected on why the group chosen to organize an interfaith walk: “When we are confronted with deep loss, fear often emerges in our thoughts. Walking together is a tangible, bodily demonstration of unity that reminds us to let go of fear and to move forward in love.” Connie Waterman, an event organizer from the Bahá’í community, reflected on the role
at the Surrey Jamea Masjid (12407 - 72nd Avenue) on time for participants and joined the Muslim community for Friday prayers at 12:00pm. New Halal Regulations Approved CFIA The Canadian Government has recently added on amendment to the Food and Drug Act. The amendment strictly requires both Halal producing and Halal trading companies to ensure that New Halal Labeling Regulations are met. This is actually a huge win for consumers of Halal goods and proof that the Canadian Government is responding positively to the recommendations made by various organizations, like ours. Having better standard means a stronger market with a healthy eco-system and happier customers. The new law comes into effect in 2016 with oversight and enforcement by CFIA [Canadian Food Inspection Agency]. The amendment will thoroughly re-affirm what most Canadian consumers have already expected from Halal Manufacturers and Retailers: informed consent. Additionally, the stronger labeling standards and tighter Government regulations will mean that customers will have all the information they need before they purchase any Halal goods. At the same time, the amendment will highlight a greater level of transparency in identifying the of religious values in creating peace: “Each one of us has the ability, individually and collectively, to be compassionate, selfless, and loving. These attributes are strengthened by religious values taught by all the world’s great religions. Together we can create a better world by concentrating all the thoughts of our heart on love and unity, then aligning our actions to reflect that thought.” The Interfaith Pilgrimage walk route was at: 8:45am – Gathered in parking lot at Northwood United Church (8855 - 156 Street). 9:00am – Pilgrimage started. Distance from Northwood United Church is 10.4km, 10:00am – Thet Met at a point in the parking lot at the south end of Bear Creek Park on 140th Street beside the Bear Creek Community Church, Brookside Gurdwara, and Laxmi Narayana Mandir. Distance from here is 6.3km, 11:00am - Their Meet up point at Canadian

ASPIRE Dental Services Program
Muslim Food Bank & Community Services
By:Fainuma Azad
ASPIRE Dental Services Program Coordinator
In refugee populations resettled to the Canada oral health needs deserve special consideration for many reasons. Refugees need special care because they arrive with oral abnormalities, the most common health problem in refugee children, and the second most common problem among refugee adults Poor oral health amongst refugees may be a result of a limited diet and lack of access to dental health care in refugee camps, and in some cases may also be a result of torture and lack of education, a lot of times dental is not a priority to most families under circumstances that they come from. As refugees adopt a western diet, they may become more susceptible to poor oral health, particularly if they do not have adequate access to Canadian dental care or have not adopted Canadian oral hygiene guidelines or simply just can’t afford treatment when they arrive. The Muslim Food Bank and Community services started the ASPIRE Dental Services
Program in response to these needs with our sponsors and generous Dentists. Through this program we free Dental Camps at our facilities in Surrey and follow up treatments at the offices of the volunteering Dentists. Our aim is to provide dental care to all our clients that need good oral health including keeping teeth free from cavities and preventing gum disease. Poor oral health can affect your appearance and self-esteem, and has been linked to sleeping problems, as well as behavioral and developmental problems in children. Poor oral health can also affect your ability to chew and digest food properly. Good nutrition is important to helping build strong teeth and gums that can resist disease and promote healing. As part of our ASPIRE program, we help our clients deal with challenges so that they can become progressive and productive citizens of this country. Our first FREE Dental Camp was on Saturday November 7, 2015 at our Surrey facilities and the follow up treatments are ongoing. A special thanks to our Sponsors Jamal Azad from
Coast Building Supplies, Fleetwood Islamic Centre, Mohammed Farook, Desjardin and Ali from Tentology. They helped us organize this event and making it a success. Special thanks and recognition to our dentists, Dr. Dewji of ABC Dental, Dr. Asif Tejani and Dr. Farah Zakeri and Astra Dental Centre who volunteered to do the Dental Screening. Some Facts: Gum disease is an inflammation of the gums, which may also affect the bone supporting the teeth. Plaque is a sticky colorless film of bacteria that constantly builds up, thickens and hardens on the teeth. If it is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, this plaque can harden into tartar and may contribute to infections in the gums. Left untreated,
gum disease can lead to the loss of teeth and an increased risk of more serious diseases, such as respiratory disease. The bacteria in plaque can travel from the mouth to the lungs, causing infection or aggravating existing lung conditions. There is also a link between diabetes and gum disease. People with diabetes are more susceptible to gum disease and it can put them at greater risk of diabetic complications. Once Again Special Thanks to All Sponsors & Dentists. Torture suspects known to police
By: Felix Chaudhary And Nasik Swami POLICE have identified suspects in the alleged beating and torture of Lautoka businessman Rajneel Singh. Spokewoman Ana Naisoro said while there was a breakthrough in the case, details surrounding the identification could not be made public as yet. “As the acting commissioner has stated while the identities of the alleged persons are known, at this stage we cannot release more details as investigations are ongoing,” Ms Naisoro said. Mr Singh alleged he was transported by men he believed to be police officers from the Ba Police Station last Friday afternoon. He claimed he was asked to present himself at the station to make a statement regarding the discovery of sensitive documents outlining a plot to overthrow the Government and remove senior government ministers. Mr Singh alleged he was beaten, tortured and left for dead in a dense forest area in Sigatoka and was rescued by a truck driver early last Saturday. Acting Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho requested military assistance to transport Mr Singh from Sigatoka to the Lautoka Hospital and who was placed under military guard at the Lautoka Hospital.
Brig-Gen Qiliho has directed police officers involved in the alleged beating be sent home. He said police officers must leave aside all their allegiances — whether it is vanua, religious or political allegiances that could affect their decision-making and the actions they take. Brig-Gen Qiliho said the force did not condone brutality against citizens and it should not happen at any cost. “I have told them (police officers) that I will not condone any such actions and addressing brutality is a holistic approach. There’s no excuse,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said. “As the commissioner now, it is my duty to see it does not happen. We can’t afford to have that happening.” He said if the need arose for police officers to be sent home for brutality-related offences, it would be done. “If I need to take that stand, I will take that stand. “I am known as a straight shooter and I get things right and if it means taking that step, then it has to be taken.” Chairman of the Fiji Human Rights and AntiDiscrimination Commission Mohamed Ajmeer said Government’s agreement to sign the UN Convention against Torture should be respected by the security forces, especially the Fiji Police Force. Justice Ajmeer said the act of brutality by the police was “abhorrent”. He said the case showed that police were not committed to the UN convention. He said he addressed police officers in Lautoka a week ago, explaining to them about the need to abstain from torture and brutality. “The officers agreed to abstain from torture and brutality,” Justice Ajmeer said. “Yet within a week, we see a case of such brutality.”

5 fun ways to build your child’s brain As parents, we face emotionally intense moments with our kids. When your 6-month-old wakes every two hours through the night. When your 5-year-old kicks you in the shin because it’s bedtime. When your teenager disrespects you for setting limits on technology. Enter survival mode. As parents, we’ve all been there. Since every child and developmental stage is different, some techniques that work with one child may not work with another. That’s why parenting from a posture of emotional safety matters more than any one technique. So what’s the key to nurturing our child’s budding brain, especially in these emotionally stressful moments? In short, the answer is you. And not just your physical presence, but your emotional presence. Being emotionally safe means feeding our kids’ brains like we do their tummies. Here are five fun ways to build your child’s brain each day: 1.Take Time Each Day to Be a Kid Again While there are many different ways to play, unstructured relational settings present the greatest potential for brain development. In other words, be a kid again! Take at least 20 minutes each day to peel back all of your adultness, explore with your kids, and celebrate what you discover together. Keep it uninterrupted and let your child lead it. If she wants to color, color with her. If she wants to play dolls, doctor, or go to the moon, go there with her. If your teen wants you to play video games, do it. Don’t criticize or tell your child how or what to
play. Just be present and see the world through her eyes. 2.Tell Family Stories In our home, we have no screens at the table. Mealtime is ripe for brain growth. One way to complement mealtime in-
thinking for too long now would we?” Don’t amuse your kids into a creative impotence. Constant amusement actually inhibits their creativity and imagination. In fact, research suggests that 15 min-
stead of staring at screens is to tell your kids stories about their family history. Some argue that children who know about their family history have higher self-esteem, a greater sense of control over their life, are more likely to handle and bounce back from stressful events, and are more likely to be emotionally healthy and happy. 3.Give Your Child the Gift of Boredom Research shows people really dislike being alone with nothing but their thoughts. So much so, they would rather administer an electrical shock to themselves instead of being left alone to think for six to 15 minutes. Imagine that, “Mom, I’m bored. Can I go stick my finger in an electrical socket?” “Sure, son. We wouldn’t want you
utes of boredom may not only allow for creative thinking, but also leads people to seek meaning and exploration. So allow your kids to be bored. Just keep them away from electrical outlets. 4.Ask Yourself One Question Whenever your kids are emotionally overwhelmed, ask yourself, “How can I respond in an emotionally safe way so my child knows he is loved?” Connecting and talking with our children is critical to brain development. Kissing a boo-boo or giving him a bear hug after a rough day at school isn’t just an act. Endorphins are released in the brain which help our child feel happy and relaxed while reducing physical and emotional pain. On the contrary, if we’re harsh, inconsistent, or dismissing, we teach him that
people will not be there when he needs them most. Perhaps it’s no wonder, then, that many adolescents who lacked a loving caregiver early in life seek out drugs to calm and soothe themselves when they become stressed, because they’ve learned that people aren’t safe, loving, or available. Win your child’s heart at an early age and you can influence behavior for life. 5.Prioritize Eye Contact over iContact I remember one morning when our toddler son was so excited looking out the ppicture window that he began to dance uncontrollably. I joined him in the dance. Had anybody walked by our house at that moment they would’ve seen a grown man stomping enthusiastically in the window. Creepy, I know. But my little boy and I shared a moment, bonding in the only language he had for the excitement he was feeling. One of the most powerful ways to build the brain of a child is to uninhibitedly join him on the dance floor. Two minutes later, my boy turned from the window, looked up at me, and babbled with joy. I was now on my phone. The moment was over. E-mails, text messages, and push notifications don’t care about moments, about your relationships, or your kids. They only care that you prioritize them right away. Do your kids know you genuinely enjoy dancing with them more than staring at your phone? Be okay with being the creepy adult who dances in front of the window at seven in the morning. Parenting isn’t rocket science, it’s just brain surgery. Courtesy: Washington Post

Toddler psychology things toddler want By:Mustapha Himi Toddlers – those cute, energetic, curious and strong-willed little ones who have passed their age of total dependence (i.e 1 year) and are now old enough to experiment with their dependence (at least that’s what they think). Their vocabulary changes from ma-ma and pa-pa to saying NO and I WANT IT NOW! Yes, those little ones who can be angels smiling, hugging and kissing you at one time and then suddenly turn into tantrum-throwing fighters. Toddlers are really fascinating and if you understand them better and find a way to tap in to their energy, strong-will and curiosity, you can make the toddler-time less stressful and more enjoyable for you and your little one! The following are some insights into toddlers’ psychology and tips on how you can meet toddlers’ psychological needs. Toddlers want to feel in control Toddlers want to feel independent. They know how to talk, walk and eat on their own, so they sometimes overestimate themselves by thinking they can do everything on their own! ”I want it”, ”No”, ”Mine” and ”Me” are in their top 10 list of favourite words! This can become a bit of a dilemma. At one side, your toddler wants and needs independence but on the other side, the things that he knows and is capable of are still very limited, and you as a caring parent want to protect him! Your toddler is still too young to understand your good intentions, so power struggles are likely to be the result. But

what if there was a way to make him feel in control even though he isn’t? A way through which you still fulfill his need to be in control without losing the control yourself! The following are two different ways you can make your child feel in control that both have something in common: choice! A. Give him absolute choice in situations wherein there is no fear for him to be in control. You can ask him what game he wants to play for example or where he wants to sit at the table. These small gestures fulfill his psychological need of feeling in control. B. You can give your toddler limited choice in situations wherein you still need to be in control. When your child has to sleep, you wouldn’t give him a choice to sleep or not to because he has to! But you could distract his focus to something he CAN BE IN CONTROL OF. This could for example be: what pajamas to wear or how to sleep. You could for example ask: ”Would you like to wear the blue or red pyjama?” or ”Would you like the bear to be next to you?” These are questions that make him feel in control without losing it yourself. You also remove his need to say: ”No!” because he is not told what to do! Toddlers need and want to unleash their energy Toddlers have a wauw lot of energy and are like little scientists: curious, imaginative and experimenters. If you don’t give them a chance to unleash
h i energy and d go on ‘‘expeditions’, di i ’ their it is most likely that they will feel bad and throw tantrums. However, after a lot of crawling, rolling, grabbing and run ning, they also like to go back into the little baby mode. They may put their thumb in their mouth, crawl against you, yawn and want to eat, drink and sleep. Organize your days and house so that your toddler has time and space to have a balanced day wherein he can be active and rest. Rest, stimulation and cleanliness is what your little one needs to thrive. Follow your and your toddler’s cues Parenting toddlers can be an exhausting process for you and your toddler.

Cosmetics marketing focuses on ‘fairy dust’ ingredients g that change nothing
By Kelly Crowe, CBC News It’s the dazzle of science, bottled up in the service of beauty. And the claims are tempting. Cosmetics offer “cell renewal,” “energy infusion,” “elastin stimulating peptides,” ingredients that are “clinically proven to change the anatomy of a wrinkle”, anti-inflammatory agents that “inhibit enzymes” and “cellular breakdown,” “age repairing anti-oxidants” that increase “cell growth.”Problem is, if the products did any of that, they’d be drugs. Anything that triggers metabolic or cellular activity, modifying cellular structure or affecting body function is considered to be a drug by both Health Canada and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and cannot be offered for sale without meeting strict regulatory requirements under the law. “You could look at it this way, either these cosmetics don’t work the way they say they do, or if they do work, then they’re illegal drugs,” said Perry Romanowski, a cosmetic chemist on a mission to debunk the marketing claims about cosmetics. Skin creams, moisturizers, soaps, shampoos and conditioners can remove dirt and debris from the surface of skin and hair. They can coat the surface with something to make it feel slip-

store that is going to have a dramatic impact? I think the answer is no,” Caulfield said Secret from the cosmetic chemist One final secret from the cosmetic chemist: Romanowksi says price does not reflect quality. “It’s a reality in the cosmetic industry that price and the functionality of the product are really not tied together at all. The price is really reflective of the brand story, the packaging, the size of the company, the distribution. It has almost nothing to do with the cost that it takes to create the formula that goes in the bottle .””I learned that it is time-consuming, it’s expensive and it has almost no impact on your skin — in fact for me it had zero impact.” After researching the book, Caulfield’s advice is simple. To look young, he simply suggests people stay out of the sun, wear sunscreen, don’t smoke, get a good night’s sleep and exercise. “That’s more important than trying to reduce the wrinkles that you have.
Winter Health Tips By Dr. Moyad
Here are my favorite tips for staying physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy during the winter months. (Vacation not included!) These five simple suggestions are things anyone can do easily and inexpensively to stave off the winter blues and sniffles. Raise your vitamin D levels naturally (without pills or sunlight). We’ve all heard about the marvels of vitamin D: heart health, skin health, immune health, mental health….But, you don’t need to supplement or risk skin cancer to get high vitamin D levels. The big secret is making healthy lifestyle changes. For example, if you lose just 5% or more of your body weight, your vitamin D blood levels will shoot up. Other ways to increase vitamin D naturally are to lower your cholesterol, exercise, and eat more fatty fish, such as wild salmon (farmed salmon contains only a quarter of the D that wild salmon contains, 250 IU per 3.5 ounces versus 1,000 IU). Protect your skin! Sunscreen is more important in the winter. There are two types of ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun that damage your skin: ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) light. UVB light penetrates the superficial layers of the skin and causes skin to redden; it’s responsible for sunburn and can also lead to skin cancer over time. But UVB rays are at least blocked by window glass from the house and car and are less intense in the winter months. UVA light, on the other hand, penetrates top and deeper layers of skin, causing cell damage that can lead to cancer. UVA light is tough to avoid because it passes through window glass and stays the same strength all year—so keep up your sunscreen routine. Get a flu shot—if only to be a good citizen. I think we doctors make a big mistake by telling people to get a flu shot because it can protect them from getting the flu. Most people are less freaked out about getting the flu than they are about the shot. But when 36,000 people in the U.S. die from complications from the flu and 200,000 are hospitalized, doctors should be telling people to get a flu shot because it’s a random act of kindness and a selfless act. I get the flu shot to promote the concept of “herd immunity,” which means I’m protecting my parents, my kids, their teachers, and librarians, too. Take a class—with a friend. Winter can be a tough time for many of us. All that darkness can take a toll on our mental health. Plus, humans are social animals that don’t do well in isolation, and the winter months can be very isolating for many people. My suggestion is that you and a close friend sign up for a yoga, cooking, sewing, or scrapbooking class. Not only do these kinds of classes improve your mental and physical fitness, but they help fill that social craving that we have as human beings, too. Eat more plants—the ones that are sources of omega-3 fatty acids. I have nothing against fish and fish oil, but plant sources of omega-3s have as much to offer, and my prediction is that in the future they may be found to be more beneficial than fish sources of omega-3. One of the primary omega-3 fatty acids, called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), is found in many plants and plant-based cooking oils, but flaxseed (powder or oil), chia seed, and walnuts are especially good sources of ALA. Recent research is suggesting omega-3s have anti-inflammatory effects, protect the skin, and perhaps even have some impact on mental health.

A Meet & Greet session held of PTI workers and supporters
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vancouver Chapter hosted a Meet & Greet session of party workers and supporters on Sunday, 22nd November at Bollywood Banquet Hall in Surrey. It was an effort from party workers to engage party supports and sympathizers and also introduce recently launched party membership campaign in Canada. Chief Guest for the event was Rai Azizullah Khan, senior party leader, CEC member, EX MNA and a very close friend of party chairman Imran Khan. This was a huge gathering and people from all walks of life participated. There was a presentation on PTI progress in KPK, where it has been the ruling party since last elections. It was highlighted how party has taken a different path when compared to opponents and past governments by investing heavily in institutions and human resource rather than just infrastructure and development. Institutions like police, health, education, Patwar and others have been largely depoliticized for the very first time and there has been significant crackdown on corruption in these institutions. There was a special presentation on health reforms and improvements in this sector including better governance and successful polio eradication campaign. Party has also launched a new set up in Canada where new members can sign up by going on the official party website http://www.insaf.pk/chapters/international/ canada. There is membership fee of $60 and party already has over 100 members in Vancouver and also signed up new members
at this event. Also under the new structure, any member who signs up 20 members will become a membership coordinator and their name will be put on the official party website. As of now PTI Vancouver already has three coordinators namely M. Akmal Gundhra, Uzma Erum and Dawood Rai. Anyone who wants to sign up for membership can contact these coordinators for help and questions. Local Party leaders also highlighted their commitment to ensure all members and supporters are provided regular platform to work for the betterment of the party and the country. There is a plan to hold regular monthly meetings, education sessions and other activities to keep everyone engaged and anyone interested should contact member coordinators. Rai Azizullah Khan appreciated local leaders and organizers for holding such a successful event and showed his delight on overwhelming interest of public in the party and its future. He stressed on the need of working hard and selflessly at this important point in party’s and country’s history. He also promised to communicate suggestion and concerns from all present at the event to senior party leadership including chairman Imran Khan. The event concluded with a thankful note for all the participants including the chief guest and the sponsors, Nirala Sweets and Restaurant, Bollywood Banquet Hall and Surya Studio for their contribution towards this sincere effort.

23 3 WOMEN 3 TOPICS GAJAR GOSHT Healing Through Losses ! Safar 15, 1437 November 27, 2015
By:Shabnam Khan Family Counsellor
Grief is an emotion that unfortunately we all experienced or will experience some time in our life. Whether it is a loss through death, divorce or any other kind of loss, the stages of grieving are somewhat same. There are five stages of grief. If we get stuck in one stage or the other, the process of grieving is not complete, and cannot be complete, meaning there will be no healing. A person MUST go through the five stages to be well again, to heal. Not everyone goes through the stages at the same time. It is different for each person. You cannot force a person through the stages, they have to go at their own pace, and you may go one step forward then take two steps backward, but this is all part of the process. The five stages of grief are: 1-Denial-”this can’t be happening to me”, looking for the former spouse in familiar places, or if it is death, setting the table for the person or acting as if they are still in living there. No crying. Not accepting or even acknowledging the loss. 2-Anger-”why me?”, feelings of wanting to fight back or get even with spouse of divorce, for death, anger at the deceased, blaming them for leaving. 3-Bargaining-bargaining often takes place before the loss. Attempting to make deals with the spouse who is leaving, or attempting
to make deals with God to stop or change the loss. Begging, wishing, and praying for them to come back. 4-Depressionoverwhelming feelings of hopelessness, frustration, bitterness, selfpity, mourning loss of person as well as the hopes, dreams and plans for the future. Feeling lack of control, feeling numb. Perhaps feeling suicidal. 5-Acceptance-there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. You have to accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. Realization that it takes two to make or break a marriage. Realization that the person is gone (in death) that it is not their fault, they didn’t leave you on purpose (even in cases of suicide, often the deceased person, was not in their right frame of mind) Finding the good that can come out of the pain of loss, finding comfort and healing. Our goals turn toward personal growth. Stay with fond memories of person. Get help. Share your thought and feelings with people you trust. You will survive, you will heal, even if you cannot believe that now, just know that it is true. To feel pain after loss is normal. It proves that we are alive, but we can’t stop living. We have to become stronger, while not shutting off our feelings for the hope of one day being healed and finding love and/or happiness again. Helping others through something we have experienced is a wonderful way to facilitate our healing and bring good out of something tragic. shabnam@skcounselling.ca

Have mercy on yourself and others
Do not be a terror on yourself dear parents! Do not worry about being an extraordinary parent or best parent in the world. Am I doing right ?Am I a good parent? Do I understand my children well? Do I satisfy them in general and in particular? Am I better parent than my own parents? Some even think of becoming better parents than their friends, relatives or neighbours. This check point is good but not healthy if it goes out of proportion. Sometimes things are different that what they look. Suppose you see your friend not allowing his or her child to go out to most simple part or outing or refuse to give them something, do not judge them to be harsh or old fashioned parent. Their child might be needing grounding; they might be needed to be taught a lesson or simply they must be doing it for his or her own good.
Parents become judgemental too soon. Let children express reasons behind their certain decisions or behaviour. Same way youth should stop being terror in the house as well as outside. Let not your parents worry which behaviour, harsh wording form of bombs you guys are going to throw. Your rooms are like tornado has hit it or tsunami has come. You guys leave things as it is, wherever you keep them. Your way of life does not match with family’s way of life. Parents were in your shoes too once upon a time so please explain yourselves. Nature has given lots of strength to survive the hardships of life. Most of the people who may be good or bad or both at any given point of time have family or friends or someone to love them, support them, and stand by them. When family gives strong good values, good conduct but what happens along the path of life at that time that person behaves against humanity. Why does wrong does not look wrong? Why frustration precedes over control? Why wrong is dealt with further wrong? Why powerful rules more powerful? Why fear wins? There are certain questions which all are answerable to society.
It is very easy to give example but it is very difficult to become an example. Lady: Dr. My husband just swallowed an aspirin by mistake, what shall I do? Dr: Give him a headache, why waste medicine.

Sri Lanka frontrunner to host Ind-Pak series
Sri Lanka is fast emerging as the likeliest venue to host a shortened bilateral series between Pakistan and India. Sri Lanka Cricket has been sounded out by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and appear very keen to host the series. Things have moved fast since BCCI president Shashank Manohar and PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan met at the ICC headquarters in Dubai on Sunday afternoon to break the deadlock over where the series should be held. The BCCI has made no comment as yet on the meeting, and Manohar left Dubai this morning to return to India. Shaharyar left too, and was meant to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Monday, to brief him on the discussions in Dubai. But the meeting could not take place as Sharif was busy. “I could not meet him as he was very occupied with various things, so I will communicate to him in writing all that transpired at the meeting,” Khan said. He
also pointed out that he would not be travelling back to Dubai on November 25, as originally planned, to meet ECB president Giles Clarke, who is acting as a mediator between PCB and BCCI.* Shaharyar and Najam Sethi, PCB’s head of executive committee, had come out of the Dubai meeting sounding optimistic, but they did not divulge any details. Those were supposed to be provided by Clarke at a media briefing today in Dubai but it is understood that will not happen. The ICC also confirmed there was no media conference scheduled. The biggest hurdle to the series was the venue: the BCCI had made it clear that it would not play Pakistan anywhere else but in India. Rejecting that offer, the PCB responded by saying the memorandum of understanding signed by both countries in 2014 clearly stated India would travel to the UAE. Then, last Friday, Shaharyar added that the final decision would be taken by the Pakistan
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The UAE has not been dropped as a venue, officially speaking, but Manohar’s opposition to play there remained. So holding the series in neutral ground like Sri Lanka was one of the proposals the PCB placed at the Dubai meeting. Also with South Africa’s tour of India finishing on December 7 and India travelling to Australia for a limited-overs series from January 12, both boards decided to modify the original schedule. The best possible option was playing three ODIs and two T20Is. In the ICC FTP Pakistan are listed to host India for a full tour comprising two Tests, five ODIs and two T20Is. According to an official privy to the details of the meeting, a final decision on the series would be made by November 27. He added that dates and stadiums haven’t been chalked out yet but indicated the matches would be played towards the latter part of December to avoid washouts. A Sri Lanka
Cricket (SLC) official said Khettarama and Pallekele were the likeliest venues to host the tour. It has rained almost daily in both Colombo and Kandy this month, but the weather is expected to clear towards the end of December. The northeast monsoon typically tapers off quicker in these cities than in Hambantota or Dambulla. There is a potential clash since Khettarama is scheduled to host domestic T20 matches on December 23rd and 30th, but those games may be moved elsewhere. Pallekele’s schedule is wide open in the window for the PakistanIndia series. Since Pakistan would play the host, the series would be broadcast by Ten Sports. No official from Ten was available for comment. Although no definite plans have been made yet, the Sri Lankan official said SLC would expect significant compensation for the use of their stadiums. FIFA ethics committee seeks life ban against Michel Platini
The FIFA ethics committee has requested a life ban for Michel Platini, the Frenchman’s lawyer said Tuesday, a move that would rule the UEFA president out of the race to succeed Sepp Blatter. Thibaut d’Ales told The Associated Press that the maximum sanction was asked for when the FIFA ethics committee investigations unit submitted its final case report. Blatter could also face expulsion from world soccer over a $2 million payment of FIFA money he approved to Platini in 2011. Platini and Blatter face separate hearings before FIFA ethics judge Joachim Eckert in December. “The overreaching of the request really convinces us of this commission’s total lack of credibility,” D’Ales said in a telephone interview. “There is not a single tangible element in this case that can confirm the suspicions.” Platini is currently serving a 90-day ban over cash he got as backdated salary almost
nine years after he stopped working as Blatter’s presidential adviser from 1998-2002. Platini denies wrongdoing and says he had a verbal contract with Blatter to receive the money. Blatter has argued that an oral agreement is valid under Swiss law. However, FIFA was also not legally required to pay Platini after five years passed. Eckert is expected to give his verdicts in the cases of Platini and Blatter in December. Any sanctions can be challenged at the FIFA appeals committee and Court of Arbitration for Sport. D’Ales said he was informed of the ethics committee’s request on Monday and decided to make it public after it leaked in the French press. He said FIFA’s aim is to prove that there was no contract between Platini and Blatter. “Obviously we’ve got the proof that such a deal existed,” D’Ales said. “We will submit it to CAS, which will handle the case within a fairly short space
of time.” A spokesman for the FIFA ethics prosecutors declined to confirm what sanction was requested last week. “We are entitled to comment but we decided for reasons of personality rights and the presumption of innocence not to publish the request,” Andreas Bantel told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “If Mr. Platini wants to comment on the request he is entitled to do that.” Platini aims to clear his name and stand as a candidate in the FIFA presidential election on Feb. 26 to succeed Blatter, who is stepping down. Blatter announced his exit plans on June 2 under pressure from American and Swiss federal investigations into bribery and corruption at FIFA. Switzerland’s attorney-general has opened criminal proceedings against Blatter over the $2 million payment as suspected criminal mismanagement of FIFA money. Platini was quizzed on Sept. 25 at FIFA headquarters as
“between a witness and an accused person,” according to attorney general Michael Lauber. A FIFA life ban has been overturned by CAS in the past. Mohamed bin Hammam of Qatar had his expulsion by FIFA overturned on appeal in July 2012, more than one year after a bribery allegation ended his presidential campaign against Blatter. The CAS panel said a FIFA investigation did not prove Bin Hammam was the source of $40,000 bribes to Caribbean voters, though it suspected he was. In a further FIFA legal development Tuesday, Switzerland’s justice ministry said it agreed to a U.S. request to provide bank documents as evidence. Details of the bank accounts involved were not given, though a U.S. Department of Justice indictment published in May identified accounts in Zurich used by marketing agents allegedly to steer bribes to soccer officials.
