Raheel Sharif calls on PM Khan ahead of Saudi crown prince’s visit
Former army chief retired Gen Raheel Sharif on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan, ahead of the Saudi crown prince’s two-day trip. During the meeting, the premier and Sharif — who is the top commander of Saudi Arabia-based Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) — discussed regional security environment and efforts for peace and stability, according to an official statement. “The prime minister reiterated his commitment to bring enduring peace and stability in Pakistan while supporting
all peace initiatives for regional peace,” said the statement, adding that the premier “appreciated IMCTC charter for its efforts towards counter violent extremism”. Sharif, who is considered to be close to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday leading an IMCTC delegation, and has been busy meeting political and military bigwigs since then. Prior to meeting the prime minister on Tuesday, he met Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sharif apprised Qureshi of the measures that are being taken by the coalition in order to combat terrorism, said a statement by the Foreign Office. The foreign minister “lauded the efforts of the coalition force to establish peace and stability in the region”. The two also talked about the importance of regional peace and stability and other matters of mutual interest. The former army chief then met Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani at the latter’s chamber at the Parliament House. The meeting was attended by members of Senate and IMCTC. A day earlier, he met Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. A press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that “matters of mutual interest including regional peace and stability” were discussed during Gen Sharif ’s meeting with Gen Bajwa.Source: dawn.com
SC judge cautions against weakening workplace harassment law, urges govt to strengthen it
A Supreme Court bench on Wednesday expressed concern over “whispers to weaken the law against women harassment at workplace”, during the hearing of a contempt case against Justice Mansoor Ali Shah filed by former federal ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace, Yasmeen Abbasi. Abbasi had issued a contempt notice to Justice Mansoor in 2016 after he had issued her arrest warrants, following which the police barged into her office to take her into custody. During the hearing, Federal Ombudsperson for Protec-
tion against Harassment of Women at Workplace Kashmala Tariq, who appeared before the court today, told the bench that there were “zero complaints” of harassment from Sindh. The claim was dismissed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, who observed that absence of complaints did not mean the issue of workplace harassment did not exist in the province. “People feel reluctant to talk about this matter,” he remarked. “The problem is that you [Tariq] have not taken women into confidence.” He said that the authorities should develop a mechanism that would make it easier for women to lodge complaints and directed the attorney general and provincial governments to submit responses on the interpretation of the law against harassment at workplace. He suggested that if provincial governments meant to amend the law, they should do so to strengthen it so that women can easily come forward and file complaints of incidents of harassment at workplaces. He also said that the attorney general and provincial advocate generals should provide legal assistance to the court by consulting international law.“We should be ashamed of ourselves if we can’t protect women from harassment,” he said. The hearing was adjourned until the first week of March. Source: dawn.com

8 investment MoUs to be signed during Saudi crown prince’s visit to Pakistan: Qureshi Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday announced that at least eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) will be signed between Islamabad and Riyadh during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s upcoming two-day visit to Pakistan. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, Qureshi said the Saudi royal did not wish to visit Pakistan just to hold discussions; so “homework” was done, and a Saudi team visited Pakistan in the last few days to assess the investment potential in various sectors of the country on the directives of the crown prince, he added. He said after holding talks with Pakistani government officials, the Saudi “advance team” reported back to authorities in their country and based on those discussions, the government expects to sign “at least 8 MoUs” with Saudi Arabia — the
details of which will be revealed later. The minister revealed that the “high-powered” delegation that will accompany Prince Mohammed will probably be the “biggest in the history” of the two countries’ relations. It will include the prince’s associates, ministers, advisers and CEOs of the large Saudi companies, he said. He said it has been decided to devise a mechanism to implement the bilateral agreements to be signed during the visit. In this regard, a coordination council is being set up that will be jointly headed by the crown prince (representing Saudi Arabia) and Prime Minister Imran Khan (representing Pakistan). All relevant ministries will have representation in the coordination council and they will follow up on the MoUs to ensure their practical implementation, the foreign minister
revealed. “I am immensely glad that you are seeing a qualitative change in our relationship [with Saudi Arabia] and will do in the future,” he told reporters. Qureshi said the government was grateful to Saudi Arabia for “fully supporting and helping Pakistan in this difficult time”, and cited the multi-billion dollar balance-of-payments support and deferred payment facility for oil supplies provided by the Kingdom in this regard. In response to a question about whether Pakistan had agreed to playing a larger role in the Yemen conflict in exchange for the Saudi support, the foreign minister said he was telling everyone “loud news conference said the government was exand clear” that there had been “no such com- pecting $7 billion in Saudi investments in the mitment”. next two years. The Kingdom has also shown $7 billion investment interest in an investment of $2 billion in the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce renewable energy (wind and solar) sector in Abdul Razak Dawood while addressing the Sindh and Balochistan, he said.
Govt to accept applications for Haj 2019 between Feb 25 and March 6 The federal government will accept applications for its Haj scheme starting from February 25 until March 6 at 14 designated banks, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday. As per the Haj Policy 2019 released by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a total of 184,210 Pakistani pilgrims are to perform Haj this year. The policy states that there would be no
free Haj facility this year, according to the report. The 2019 Haj scheme will be implemented by the government as well as private Haj Group Organisers (HGOs) in the ratio of 60:40. The charges are exclusive of the cost for qurbani (animal sacrifice) services, which can be optionally availed for another Rs19,451. The aspiring pilgrims will be selected under the government scheme through a comput-
erised ballot on March 8, Radio Pakistan reported. This season, 10,000 seats will be reserved for senior citizens above the age of 80 and another 10,000 seats will be reserved for those individuals who had been unsuccessful in the ballot for the last three years. Under the government scheme, 1.5 per cent of the total seats will be reserved for hardship cases. Source: dawn.com

Trump hints at backing funding deal Suicide bomber targeting Iran’s Revto dodge gov’t shutdown olutionary Guard kills 27: state media
A reported deal between Democrats and Republicans includes $1.375bn in funds for ‘barriers’ on the US-Mexico border. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday edged toward backing a deal in Congress on funding for a barrier on the Mexican border, but left open the possibility that disputes over the wall could still cause a partial government shutdown by the weekend. Trump, widely blamed for a record-long fiveweek shutdown that ended in January, said he did not want to see federal agencies close again because of fighting over funds for the wall, one of his signature campaign promises in the 2016 election. But the Republican president fell short of committing himself to backing the congressional deal, which would keep the government open but not give Trump the $5.7bn he seeks for the wall.“I don’t want to see a shutdown. A shutdown would be a terrible thing. I think a point was made with the last shutdown. People realised how bad the border is, how unsafe the border is, and I think a lot of good points were made,” Trump told reporters. Congress, which faces a tight deadline to pass legislation to avert another US government shutdown, is considering a compromise measure that does not deliver all the funds Trump had demanded to build the wall. Although Democrats have vowed to block Trump’s original request for $5.7bn for a wall, which they call immoral and ineffective, they have expressed their willingness to sign off on a
deal that includes funding for more “barriers”. Since coming to office, Trump has overseen a crackdown on immigration, sliced the number of refugees coming to the United States and sought to block travellers from several Muslim-majority countries. On Tuesday, the Republican president said he was not happy with the deal and he did not rule out a possible veto of the legislation. The Democratic-controlled US House of Representatives could vote as soon as Wednesday evening, a senior aide said, despite not yet having produced a written copy of the agreement reached by congressional negotiators on Monday night. The accord must also be passed by the Republican-controlled Senate and signed by Trump by the midnight Friday expiration of a stopgap measure that ended the longest federal shutdown in US history. The measure’s fate in the House was far from certain given the risk that conservatives and liberals will oppose the compromise for different reasons. Source: aljazeera.com
EU blacklists Saudi Arabia: What does it mean ?
Financial institutions in EU member states will now have to commit to greater levels of scrutiny for transactions. The European Commission confirmed it intends to name Saudi Arabia on its updated list of high-risk jurisdictions for money laundering and terrorist financing. Other countries including Pakistan, Libya and Panama have also been added to the list, which the European Parliament is expected to ratify within one month. Financial institutions in EU member states will now have to commit to greater levels of scrutiny for transactions involving highrisk countries, including faster access for law enforcement agencies undertaking counterterrorism investigations. After a string of high-profile scandals involving EU-affiliated financial institutions and international accounts, the EC is acting. Sven Giegold MEP told Al Jazeera “it’s a sign of European self-confidence…the EU will insist on imposing its standards”.
Saudi impact
The effect on Riyadh is likely to be threefold. First is the threat to investment from EUrelated financial institutions, who had been targeted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as part of his Vision 2030 reform
TEHRAN, Iran -- A suicide car bomber claimed by an al Qaeda-linked group attacked a bus carrying members of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard paramilitary force Wednesday, killing at least 27 people and wounding 13 others, state media reported. Tehran immediately linked the attack in Iran’s restive southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province to an ongoing U.S.-led conference in Warsaw largely focused on Iran, just two days after the nation marked the 40th anniversary of its 1979 Islamic Revolution. The bombing also raised the spectre of possible Iranian retaliation targeting a Sunni militant group called Jaish al-Adl that claimed the attack, which largely operates across the border in nuclear-armed Pakistan. Recent militant assaults inside Iran have sparked retaliatory ballistic missile strikes in Iraq and Syria. The bombing Wednesday night struck the bus travelling on a road between the cities of Khash and Zahedan, a mountainous region along the Pakistani border that is also near Afghanistan. Images after the blast published by semi-official news agencies showed the explosion tore the bus apart, as passersby used the light of their cellphones to illuminate the debris. The state-run IRNA news agency, citing what it described as an “informed source,” offered initial casualty figures of 20 dead and 20 wounded. The Revolutionary Guard later reported on its website that 27 were killed and 13 wounded. The Guard, which answers only to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a statement saying a vehicle loaded with explosives targeted a bus carrying border guards affiliated with its force. Sistan and Baluchistan province, which lies on a major opium trafficking route, has seen occasional clashes between Iranian forces and Baluch separatists, as well as drug traffickers. However, in recent months, there’s been an uptick in assaults by the Sunni extremist group Jaish al-Adl, or the “Army of Justice.” Since its founding in 2012, it has abducted or killed border guards in hit-and-run assaults
from its havens in Pakistan. It kidnapped 11 Iranian border guards in October. Five later were returned to Iran and six remained held. Jaish al-Adl claimed Wednesday’s bombing in a statement online. Iranian state-run and semi-official media also blamed the group for the attack. While Iran has been enmeshed in the wars engulfing Syria and neighbouring Iraq, it largely has avoided the bloodshed plaguing the region. However, attacks have happened. In 2009, more than 40 people, including six Guard commanders, were killed in a suicide attack by Sunni extremists in Sistan and Baluchistan province. Jundallah, a Sunni extremist group whose members have joined Jaish al-Adl, claimed responsibility for that attack. In the case of Jundallah, Pakistan assisted Iran in apprehending its leader, whom Tehran executed in 2010. Iran has sought the co-operation of Pakistan in recent cases involving Jaish al-Adl as well. However, a bombing like this inside of Iran likely will draw an immediate reaction from the Guard, a massive paramilitary organization that both controls Iran’s ballistic missile program and vast chunks of its economy. Iran fired ballistic missiles into Syria over a bloody Islamic State attack on Tehran targeting parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 2017 that killed at least 18 people. In September, Iran fired missiles into Iraq targeting a base of an Iranian Kurdish separatist group after an attack on a border post... .......... Source: ctvnews.ca

Shovelling in your city: Metro Van- PM Trudeau ‘surprised and disappointed’ by Wilson-Raybould’s resignation couver’s sidewalk clearing rules
Wondering how soon after a storm your sidewalk has to be cleared of snow? It depends where you live in Metro Vancouver. Here’s a quick sample of the approaches some of the cities take: Vancouver - All property owners must clear snow and ice from sidewalks bordering their property by 10 a.m. every day. West Vancouver - Owners have 24 hours after the end of a snowfall to clear snow and ice.
City of North Vancouver - Owners have to remove snow and ice “as soon as possible” after snow has stopped. Burnaby - Snow must be cleared before 10 a.m. every day, including holidays. Coquitlam - Owners have 10 hours from when the snow ends. Maple Ridge - Sidewalks should be shoveled as soon as possible and no later than 10 a.m. Langley - Owners have 24 hours from the end of a snowfall, or before accumulation exceeds 10 centimetres, and they have to take snow off any roofs that hang over the road or sidewalk immediately. Surrey - Owners have until 10 a.m. the day after a snowfall. New Westminister - Sidewalks must be cleared before 10 a.m. the following day. Richmond - Owners have until 10 a.m. For more details or information on other cities, call 311 or visit the municipal government’s Source: ctvnews.ca
Second winter storm hits B.C., prompting closures and disruptions
VANCOUVER -- Schools across most of British Columbia’s south coast and Vancouver Island are closed, public transit is disrupted and drivers are being urged to stay off the roads as a snowstorm blankets the region. With the exception of the northern tip of the Island, snowfall warnings remain posted for the south coast and Environment Canada says the system that has dumped more than 15 centimetres of snow in some areas is expected to continue for most of Tuesday. Vancouver International Airport is advising travellers to check with their airline, but officials at the airport say runways are plowed and open.
The snow is not derailing plans for delivery of the throne speech at the legislature in Victoria, although Victoria International Airport was reporting some early flight cancellations, potentially complicating travel plans for politicians. Environment Canada says a winter storm is also lashing the southeastern corner of the province and could blanket some areas with as much as 35 centimetres of snow before the system passes late Tuesday. In northeastern B.C., an extreme cold warning has been issued for the Peace River region, where wind chill values of -40 are forecast around Fort St. John. Source: ctvnews.ca
OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he is “surprised and disappointed” by Liberal MP Jody Wilson-Raybould’s resignation from cabinet. Wilson-Raybould resigned “with a heavy heart” Tuesday and announced she is seeking legal advice on speaking publicly about the SNC-Lavalin scandal. Her high-profile departure from Trudeau’s front bench came amid ongoing questions over whether the prime minister or anyone in his office tried to pressure Wilson-Raybould to abandon the prosecution of a case against SNC-Lavalin when she was justice minister and attorney general. Trudeau said Tuesday evening that he was “both surprised and disappointed by her decision to step down,” because her resignation was “not consistent” with their recent conversations. The Globe and Mail reported last week that the Prime Minister’s Office allegedly tried to influence Wilson-Raybould to ask prosecutors to make a deal to pursue a remediation agreement rather than a criminal prosecution in the corruption and fraud case against the Quebec-based engineering and construction company. CTV News has not independently verified the story. Trudeau has denied it, and to date WilsonRaybould has said that, as the former AG, she is “bound by solicitor-client privilege in this matter,” and has not commented to either confirm or deny reports she was pressured. On the question of the SNC-Lavalin case, Trudeau said “the government of Canada did its job,” followed the rules, and that if any member of the government felt differently they had an obligation to raise that with him, and no one did, Wilson-Raybould included. “She said nothing of that to me,”
‘I broke no laws there’: Canadian ISIS fighter wants help to return home
An Ontario man who spent four years fighting for ISIS and used social media to recruit others now wants to return home with the help of the Canadian government. Canadian Mohammed Ali says the Islamic State terror group is abandoning its foreign militants as it continues losing ground against U.S.backed Kurdish fighters. The 28-year-old says he, his Canadian wife and their two children have been “hung out to dry” and that it is no longer safe for them in Syria. “Why shouldn’t I be able to go home? I’ve done nothing in Canada. Trudeau said. Remediation agreements are a relatively new mechanism in Canada. The Liberals amended the Criminal Code through an omnibus bill in 2018 to implement what are also referred to as Deferred Prosecution Agreements. If the company was convicted they’d be banned from securing Canadian government contracts for a decade, potentially putting Canadian jobs on the line. “I… to be honest don’t entirely understand why Jody Wilson-Raybould made the decision that she did,” Trudeau said about her resignation. “I continue to be puzzled.” His comments were the most involved he has offered to date on the affair that has rocked Parliament Hill. Parents in a School Daze over Islam
LECTURES ABOUT WHAT uddhists believe and how their faith spread to China, Burma, and beyond whizzed past my unlistening ears. A bad student, I dozed through discussions about what Martin Luther nailed to the door of All Saints’ Church and why he had a beef with the Catholic Church. My thirst for learning (and love of religious freedom) finally perked up during lessons about Nazi Germany and what it was that they never learned about the Jewish faith and people. But there was never a whisper about Islam. No discussion of the Ottoman Empire, or the Golden Age of Islamic learning and discovery, not a Muhammad in sight. That was high school back in the 90s. Back in those days chapters about Islam, the Muslims, and Islamic civilizations were put on the chopping block in world history. In recent years since the tragedy of 9/11 and the scourge of ISIS, Islam and the Muslims are increasingly coming under the microscope in world news and politics. No longer can we, as a society, brush off chapters on such an apropos subject. And so, Islamic Civilization has started to make an appearance in school curriculum. But some parents are enraged about this religion being a part of their children’s history text. Fueled by myth, fear, and anger, parents across the country are saying no to Islamic knowledge for their children. One example is that of a Florida mother who has vowed to stop her children from learning history if that history has anything to do with Muslims. in this link video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Znvj4piw_M ) This Florida mom, Christian Normandin, is like a growing number of parents. She is mad. And just a few seconds into her video about the “evils” of teaching students about Islam, you can understand why. It’s because she has been served a heaping helping of misinformation about Islam which understandably breeds fear. It becomes clear a few minutes into the young mother’s video that she has fallen prey to media sensationalism and fear mongering. She cannot put her finger on anything in specific that she knows about Islam, but cites what she has heard, alluding to media reports of Muslim extremists’ misdeeds. What she and most non-Muslims don’t realize is that Prophet Muhammad taught his followers to avoid extremism. The Prophet (saw) said: Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists … (Bukhâri) But unfortunately she, like many Americans and Westerners at large, fails to realize that the misdeeds of a few do not define the many. Normandin gets so much wrong about

Ready for Reform?
RE we getting an IMF bailout or are we not? The debate is centre stage again in the wake of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s weekend meeting with IMF director Christine Lagarde. I wish it were not. No, not because the matter of the bailout is trivial. It isn’t. But every time we consume the nation with this issue, it misguides people by presenting it as some kind of silver bullet and allows the policy machinery to mask what they really need to be focused on: internal reform. Let me predict. We are going to go to the IMF and we are going to get a package. Not an ideal one; but an okay one. Three reasons. First, I am told that traditional naysayer-in-chief Imran Khan has been convinced otherwise. It is no secret that he had boxed himself in on the IMF issue. Even as his technical advisers were rightly telling him we must go soon, he knew he had for long singled out the IMF as the villain he would not indulge. Very recently, though, he has signalled that he’s ready — ironically, now defying a relatively more sceptical (about the IMF) Finance Minister Asad Umar. Second, the government feels it has finally got the international environment to turn in its favour. And in as much as they see the IMF as a political beast tak-

‘Hatred, & Islamophobia’! By: Gulshan Alani It seems we are going back to the horrific time of Hitler, Crucifixion in Roman Empire, Crusaders, persecution of Christians, Jews, and Muslims. Even today the same religious persecution is still going on. The most gruesome hateful attack in the Quebec city Masjid killing innocent Muslim worshippers by a hatemonger terrorist proved Islamophobia do exists. Therefore, it is absolutely arrogance to declare Islamophobia doesn’t exist especially in Quebec. The Judge called it an act of “visceral hate”. That is inspire by the evil spirit. the economy. The bottom line is as simple as it gets: we spend way more than we earn and there is nothing short of real and intense structural transformation of the economy that can bridge this gap sustainably. Previously, we behaved like an addict who continues to get an opiate under the promise that he’ll enter serious rehab. In reality, we have neither shown the intent nor seem to have had the capacity to bear the pain the process entails. This is the only question we should be debating: are we ready for serious rehab, and if so, is everyone clear what all this will entail? If we are, we should be taking the discussion in a different direction: if there were no IMF, no bilateral benefactors, and no remittances, what would we have to do to bridge the revenue-expense gap? That’s the approach we need. If we adopt it, the rest is not rocket science and will follow. But for this, the prime minister would have to move the public narrative away from declaring victory to warning the public that what’s coming is going to hurt, but that it’s a pain we must endure for our long-term success. None of the previous governments have had the courage to do so. Will Mr Khan?

He said its date Jan. 29, 2017, will “forever be written in blood in the history of this city, this province, this country.” Yet, he rewrote the official section of punishment and delivered the punishment that didn’t fit the crime. Most disappointing for the surviving victims- families who lost their loved ones in the barbaric attack. The only ‘Rahat’ for them is to know their loved ones are considered Martyrs as killed prostrating to their Creator so they have flown straight in Jannah-Heaven, for which we all work hard to get entry in Heaven. By paying and buying tickets to enter in Paradise is a hoax created by some religious leaders. The religious and tribal hatred is centuries old and growing rapidly even in the time of higher education and advanced technology proving the higher intelligence in mankind. Yet, such academic education cannot teach or provide Socio ethics and moral values that comes only through the belief in the Divine authority of the Supreme-Being the Owner of the Creation, who requires utmost respect, and obedience of HIS rules as a good Citizen. Only Oneness of GOD can
create oneness of community and keep the evil away by having fear of Almighty GOD, as HIS appointed Police Officers-Angels are around us writing our reports, so never do anything wrong thinking nobody is watching us. Although, we have the Cameras but not enough, we are in need of more Cameras in every corner and buildings. Increase of religious hatred is also crystal clear in Genocide of Rohingya Muslims, oppressed and tortured Falun Gong practitioners, Chinese Christians are persecuted, the Crosses are thrown, the Churches are forced to close, the Chinese Prisons are full of Christians (50 millions killed), and Uighur Muslims. (Reported-Context-Lorna Dueck-”Religious persecution in China’). The reality of truth is that HE created different tribes with different colors just so we know each other, not to create racism, discrimination and hatred of each other. The only hatred should be for the Evil Iblis-Lucifer an enemy of Allah-Creator. The only Wall we need is between good and evil, between true Creator GOD and human gods the mischief makers and the killers of souls. If one Muslim or one Jewish person does
something wrong, why blame the whole community? Are our minds becoming like the notorious Hitler or Daesh? The killers have not even read or studied the final Revelation-Quran that forbids revenge on who has done nothing wrong. Divine Message has clarified it: No father should be punished for his Son’s crime and v/v. However, killing Muslims is like killing all the Jews, Christians, Bani Israel etc. Millions of Muslims are still the same tribes who accepted Almighty-GOD ‘s final Revelation and earned the title of final qualification ‘Muslim’. They must not be murdered for being obedient children but should get standing ovation for keeping alive the concept of One Creator-GOD, HIS past Revelations and Messengers. important note: Letters to the editor do not reflect the opinion of the Miracle media group. Bringing Harmony To All The Co
18TH ANNV
FEB 2001-2019
O
nce again alhamdulillah, it is a great occasion in the Miracle Media Group Inc.’s history as it has completed Eighteen years -a long journey that began on Feb 23rd, 2001. I want to thank the supporters and well wishers of ‘The Miracle’ for providing continuous support through advertisements of their businesses, sharing their thoughts in writing with our readers, especially Mr. Nusrat Hussain, Mr. Shams Jilani, Mr. Aslam Hayat, Mr. Azhar Syed, Maulana Abdul Latif Naumani, Mrs. Shamim Karim, Mrs. Alam Ara, Mrs. Shabnam Khan, Dr. Huma Mir, Ms. Asma Shums, Mrs. Nafisa Siddiqi, and many others. The Miracle team feels proud to have established and continued our tradition of special editions on occasions s uch as Federal, Provincial and Civic Elections, Independence Day of Pakistan, Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul Adha. In past few years, the Miracle conducted many successful Election Forums on Civic, Provincial and Federal Elections debates. In 2015 Federal Elections the Miracle Media did a vital role to conduct Surrey Candidates grand debate under the banner of BC Muslim Print Media. In 2016 BC Provincial election, the Miracle media covered the, candidates nomination meetings, election campaigns, press conferences, community forums of many candidates and their profiles. We held Qirat and Hamad o Naat competitions, awards for Miracle Youth, Advertisers, Sponsors and Writers. Miracle Media also conducted three 6 hours long exciting Musical Competition programs for tributes the legendry Pakistani Singers Mehdi Hassan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Mixed Pakistani songs, these programs engaged children, youth, adults and seniors of all communities. On Feb 19, 2016 again Miracle Media arranged a 6 hours duration quality program of Miracle’s Writers and Musicians awards with Sham e Ghazal night to tribute the great legendry Pakistani singers, Mehdi Hassan and Noor Jehan at a large scale at Afghan Chopan restaurant in Surrey. Now a days Miracle Media is partner of “ I AM PAKISTAN “ Worldwide Movement for Basha/ Myanmar, & Mohmand Dams Fundraising Dinner in March 24, 2019 The newspaper aims to provide
a broad overview of the world through articles and images. Over the years, we have covered around 5000 events from all communities in efforts to keep up with our slogan, “Bringing Harmony to all the ”. We are also proud that when Non-Muslims read Miracle Newspaper, they learn more about Islam as well as the local and international Muslim community. Feb 23, 2001 was a remarkable day for the BC Muslim community when Mr. Hussain launched the first Muslim Newspaper on biweekly basis. His family’s and his day and night struggle gave a voice to the community. Mr. Nusrat Hussain, founder of Miracle, handed me over the responsibility to run this show alone from Jan 2007. Thanks Mr. Hussain! I have been since trying to nourish your baby, The Miracle, to this day, Feb 15 2019. How successful my entire team and I have been in achieving this tasks? Well, the Miracle’s readers are the best judges. Miracle is the only one who cares and respects all community members irrespective of colour, nationality and faith. During its eighteen years of community service in journalism, the Miracle took one step ahead from our fellows in the field, from past seven years we decided to give each advertisement special attention rather than printing consecutive 4-8 pages colour ads and risk that readers will flip through all the ads without stopping. We have now divided each page in such a way so that the ads and articles are spread evenly on pages so our advertisers benefit from more exposure and our readers stay informed by reading articles and seeing what the businesses are offering at the same time. We also pay thanks to our Advertisers. Feel free to comment on this issue about Miracle’s Historical 18 years journey, as your concerns and suggestions are highly appreciated for improving our quality in future. At the end I will not be honest if I do not appreciate the efforts of my Miracle’s family Khadija, Misbah,, Shahrukh, Sabeeh and Arslan. Keep up the good work not only for the Miracle, but for all the Community. I thank everyone who took the time and sent their messages at Miracle’s 18th Anniversary, including politicians, advertisers and wellwishing individuals from the community. May Allah (SWT) accept your prayers for our success and may He help us in serving the community. Jazaakumu Allahu Khairan. (Ameen) Mohammad Naseer Pirzada (Editor in-Chief)

Smart Cities AV Shuttle Demos Come to Surrey
Experience a Driverless Shuttle in Your Community ELA Visits Surrey and Vancouver as part of the Smart Cities Challenge The future of driving is coming to Greater Vancouver! If you’ve been wondering what it’s like to ride in a driverless vehicle, here is your chance to be one of the first people to experience a driverless shuttle ride in Surrey. Rides will be available at the following times and locations: Surrey Civic Plaza in Surrey City Centre: February 1 to 17, 2019 Vancouver Olympic Village: February 23 to March 5, 2019
of Surrey and the City of Vancouver’s Smart Cities Challenge bid to create Canada’s first two collision-free multi modal corridors using smart mobility technologies.” “Driverless vehicles are anticipated to eliminate one of the leading contributors to collisions – human error,” says City of Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart. By piloting them on these corridors, we can learn more about how they can be used throughout the region to improve safety, reduce congestion, and create safer, greener, healthier, more connected communities. In Surrey and Vancouver we believe that together, we are leading the way and setting the standard for other cities in Canada to follow for smart mobility.” It may look like it’s something straight out of the future, but ELA – The EZ10 Driverless Shuttle is already being used in several countries around the world. ELA – short for ELectric Automation – is a fully-accessible, 100% electric vehicle with a battery life of up to 14 hours. It holds up to 12 passengers and will travel at slow speeds – about 12 km/h
during the test-rides – but has a maximum travelling speed of 40 km/h. A driverless shuttle, or autonomous vehicle (AV), uses a combination of sensors, video cameras and computers to understand its surroundings and steer itself. In the future, city transportation planners envision using AVs to improve safety, enhance sustainability and reduce congestion on busy corridors. During the demos, the shuttle will be separated from traffic to ensure public safety. The shuttle can accommodate wheelchairs, scooters and strollers. The ELA Shuttle will start its journey in Surrey City Centre, and following its visit, will be relocated to the City of Vancouver’s Olympic Village. A trained operator will be on board as back-up to stop the vehicle if needed and rides will take approximately five minutes. Riders can also provide feedback that will be used to learn about future potential operation of the vehicle. Adding to the experience during the 17 day visit in Surrey, the City of Surrey will be hosting two special days that will include
Western Canada’s largest outdoor escape room event on February 9th and 10th. The event promoted as: Mission: Possible will occur on Surrey Civic Plaza adjacent to Surrey City Hall. The mission, for those accepting the challenge, will involve teams of two to five to strategize and collaborate through a series of puzzles and riddles to help their team pave the way to a smarter city. The event is a way to engage the public and educate them on smart technologies of the future centred on safe transportation systems. To learn more about Smart Cities Challenge bid or to book your free shuttle ride visit www.smartertogether.ca.

‘Civilians killed’ as US-backed forces push to defeat ISIL
At least 16 dead, including children, in air strikes as Kurdish-led fighters battle last ISIL remnants in eastern Syria At least 16 civilians, including seven children, were killed in air attacks launched by a US-backed coalition aiming to capture ISIL’s last enclave in eastern Syria. Fighter jets fired missiles in support of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Baghouz, a village in Deir Az Zor province, as part of a fierce battle to seize Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s last sliver of territory in the region. SDF spokesman Mustafa Bali said heavy clashes were ongoing on Tuesday after hun-
dreds fled the battle zone overnight. The SDF believes 400 to 600 fighters from ISIL, also known as Daesh and ISIS, remain holed up in the enclave, including many hardened foreigners who are expected to fight to the death.“We are seeing fierce resistance from the Daesh fighters,” SDF field commander Adnan Afrin told Reuters news agency on the outskirts of Baghouz. “Most are foreigners, Iraqis, Europeans. There are a lot of Turks. We can hear them on the walky-talkies.”He said ISIL now held only 1-square kilometre of the village. The SDF announced a final push to retake Baghouz late on Saturday. Since then some
military advances have been made, but ISIL snipers and landmines have slowed the ground forces down. Coalition spokesman Sean Ryan said the US-backed forces were facing a fierce pushback by the armed group. “The progress is slow and methodical as the enemy is fully entrenched and ISIL fighters continue to conduct counter-attacks,” said Ryan. “The coalition continues to strike at ISIL targets whenever available.” The US-led coalition said it hit a mosque used by ISIL to direct attacks and employ suicide car bombs against the SDF. “This mosque lost its protected status when
King Salman says his country ‘permanently stands by Palestine and its people’s right to an independent state’. Saudi King Salman has said his kingdom is committed to an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital before a United States-led conference on Middle East peace and security. The Saudi monarch was speaking on Tuesday during a meeting with visiting Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in the capi-
tal, Riyadh. King Salman said his country “permanently stands by Palestine and its people’s right to an independent state with the occupied East Jerusalem as its capital,” reported the official Saudi Press Agency. The pledge comes as the US is expected to offer hints of its proposals for peace between Israel and the Palestinians at a conference in Poland’s capital, Warsaw. Announcing the two-day conference last month, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
The anti-Tehran demonstration was organised by the National Council of Resistance in Iran, and protesters hoisted Iranian flags and held banners against the political repression in the Islamic Republic. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said at a news briefing in Tehran the twoday Warsaw meeting attended by the delegations from 60 countries was “dead on arrival”.The conference and demonstration came as 20 members of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard were killed in a suicide at-
tack in the southeast of the country. Describing the Poland meeting as the “WarsawCircus”, Zarif said it was “no coincidence that Iran is hit by terror on the very day” the talks began in the Polish capital. “Especially when cohorts of same terrorists cheer it from Warsaw streets & support it with twitter bots? US seems to always make the same wrong choices, but expect different results,” Zarif wrote on Twitter. Source: aljazeera.com
ISIS deliberately chose to use it as a command and control centre,” the coalition’s deputy commander, Major-General Christopher Ghika, said in a statement. Source: aljazeera.com
Saudi king reaffirms support for Palestinian state
said that foreign ministers from around the world would attend to take up the “destabilising influence” of Iran in the Middle East. But with most major European powers sending low-level representation, the US and Poland have toned down the agenda, saying the gathering is not focused on Iran but rather looking more broadly at the Middle East. Source: aljazeera.com
Iran denounces US-led Middle East conference held in Warsaw Iran’s leaders call out US over Poland meeting as hundreds protest Tehran government on the streets of Warsaw. Warsaw, Poland - Iran’s foreign minister has criticised a Middle East conference cohosted by the US in the Polish capital calling it “another attempt by the United States to pursue an obsession with Iran”. The denunciation came as hundreds of demonstrators protested on Wednesday outside the venue against the Iranian goverment demanding “regime change”.

he Miracle’s Journey in the eighteen years has been filled with many mile stones. Some of them marked exciting and uplifting moments while a few may be arbitrarily remembered as disappointments. Nevertheless each moment provided us with an opportunity to learn and improve, and only solidified our belief in this newspaper’s role in the community. While we faced many challenges in public and private, we have chosen a selected few events that raised our confidence in ourselves and in our community and hence, set the course of direction for the newspaper’s future. This may be the trip down the memory lane for a lot of our readers and advertisers who have been with the newspaper from Day one and supported us.

‘We’re holding up a floodgate’: Here’s how PSL is better than B.C. fights off super bugs IPL — and all other cricket leagues brought home by medical tourists
2
By: Bethany Lindsay patients at New Westminster hospital confirmed as carriers of drug-resistant yeast. The risks involved in medical tourism aren’t just personal. Having surgery abroad could also mean bringing back a drug-resistant superbug and putting people in this country at risk, B.C. officials warn. That alert comes after the recent discovery that two patients at New Westminster’s Royal Columbian Hospital had been colonized with the multidrug-resistant yeast Candida auris. Though neither patient is infected with the bug, the two join just a handful of cases that have been identified in B.C. since 2017. Dr. Linda Hoang, medical co-director for the Provincial Infection Control Network (PICNet), said most of these cases have come from travellers who have had treatment overseas, including medical tourists. It means patients need to do serious research on the facilities they’re considering for surgeries or other treatments abroad, including looking for objective information about the presence of any drug-resistant microorganisms. It’s not only a problem in India or Southeast Asia. It is endemic in parts of the U.S. and parts of Europe,” Hoang told CBC News. “It [antibiotic-resistant superbugs] is a global problem, and the only way to to be aware of them is to make sure that health-care professionals are informed and our residents are informed when they’re seeking health care outside of British Columbia.” It’s a sobering reminder for those who travel abroad for medical treatments, whether it’s to skip the surgery wait list in B.C., access therapies that aren’t approved in Canada or save money on cosmetic therapy. Some of the top destinations for medical tourists from around the world include India, Mexico, Southeast Asia, Brazil and Turkey, according to the Medical Tourism Association. But facilities in other countries can sometimes take a more haphazard approach to prescribing antibiotics, and overuse can trigger the evolution of resistance to these crucial drugs.
India a major source of bug
The two colonized patients at Royal Columbian were isolated after the bug was discovered, and the hospital has been aggressively cleaning all areas they had visited, using UV light for disinfection, according to Fraser Health. C. auris was first identified in Japan in 2009, but it has popped up since then in countries around the world. It acts much like any other yeast species, causing infections in wounds, the blood-
stream and the ears, but the real problem is how to treat it. “The only real reason why we’re concerned or interested in monitoring Candida auris is because of that potential resistance profile, making it difficult to treat with the anti-fungal agent that we have,” Hoang said. The biggest risk of infection right now seems to come from Indian facilities, Hoang said. The bug was confirmed for the first time in B.C. in July 2017 in a patient who’d been treated in India. As it turned out, that traveller also came back with infections from multiple other drug-resistant organisms. B.C. doesn’t track whether infected people travelled abroad as medical tourists or simply required medical treatment because of an emergency during their voyages. But patients who have had medical treatment outside B.C. for any reason are a major source of these superbugs, she said. They include so-called CPOs — carbapenemase-producing organisms like Klebsiella, E. coli and Pseudomonas that have become resistant to broad-spectrum antibiotics, which Hoang describes as the “last resort” for treatment. In 2017-2018, PICNet recorded more CPO cases than ever before, and more than half of them were from people who had accessed health care overseas, Hoang said.
There’s only so much we can do’
The key for anyone who chooses to have surgery abroad —and anyone who needs medical attention while travelling —is to let your B.C. doctor know when you return. That way, the doctor can check you for any drug-resistant bugs you may have picked up and give you the appropriate medication if you get sick. Being open with that information protects everyone around you. “If you require health care in British Columbia, you are running the risk of spreading that into our facilities. And that’s not a good thing for your neighbouring patients, who might be very sick and vulnerable,” Hoang said. She said B.C. is aggressively monitoring returning travellers for drug-resistant superbugs, but the real key to stopping their spread will be eliminating the excessive use of antibiotics that allows these micro-organisms to evolve resistance. “We’re basically holding up a floodgate, and unless the problems are addressed in these countries where antibiotics are used with minimal regulation and control, there’s only so much we can do,” Hoang said. www.cbc.ca

t first glance, the Pakistan Super League comes off as just another generic, regular, run-off-the-mill sports league where batsmen bat, bowlers bowl and fielders field. So what’s new here? Superficially ... nothing. Even it’s name isn’t unique as at least three other sports leagues have called themselves PSL, with the most prominent of them probably being South Africa’s Premier Soccer League. And while the P in this particular PSL represents Pakistan, a majority of its matches take place in the UAE. The matches too are some of the least attended events in all of sports, which gives the fans across the border a lot of fodder to make memes and crack some undeniably funny jokes. Having posited all there is that seems ugly, ladies and gentlemen, PSL boasts a trio of things that no other league in the world has — that’s including the Indian Premier League. Let’s examine what these features are that make the PSL stand out from the crowd. 1- The league where batsmen don’t reign supreme It’s no secret that the entire purpose of creating the T20 format is to favour the batsmen so they amass runs and fast. Where there was logic behind it, the bias has become so obvious and grave that T20 leagues around the world have quite clearly become cemeteries for bowlers. Understandably, leading the pack in this crusade is the IPL where batsmen often treat ball hurlers with disdain of the highest order. This is where the PSL is still holding the fort. Empty they may be, but PSL stadia are one of the few ones where there is still some semblance of balance between bowlers and batsmen. The latter do not, or cannot, bully the former in PSL every single time. For instance, take the IPL 2018 where the batting team plundered the bowling side for 200plus runs 15 times. Similarly, in 120 innings of IPL 2018, teams were all-out only a dozen times. In contrast, in 66 innings of PSL 2018, bowlers managed to dismiss all 10 opposing batsmen a total of 10 times. Some could say that that’s a failure on PSL batsmen’s part, but on the flip side, you can also argue that it’s down to PSL bowlers’ brilliance. 2- PSL represents a nation’s perseverance The influx of food vloggers and the likes of Cynthia D Ritchies are hard at work but to the outside world, Pakistan still remains a massively mysterious and grossly misunderstood place. For them, the only things found
in Pakistan are bombs, terrorists, acres and acres of barren land, unforgiving mountains and deserts as far as the eye could see. It goes without saying that that is a ridiculous perception; Pakistan is not Syria or Iraq where active wars are being fought. Post 9/11, however, Pakistan has had to fight a passive war, and it has cost us upwards of 50,000 lives. It takes decades for war-torn, cash-strapped nations to emerge from such historic setbacks. And yet here is Pakistan which is semihosting a league with international players less than five years removed from a situation where multiple bombings a day had become a norm. The players we attract may be second-stringers or has-beens or even railo kattas but just to be in this position takes a tremendous amount of perseverance. No mainstream sports league has had to battle such external elements. 3- Not just another sports league And now the last but the heaviest point on the list. The IPL, the CPL, even the EPL or any PL, as successful as they are, they are all just sports leagues. The PSL, for Pakistan, is not just another sports league. It’s much more than that. The claim can be justified by the fact that when PSL runs into problems, the directions and leadership can even come from the top-most echelon of the hierarchy: the PM House. To handle security, even the top brass of the army gets involved — that’s how important this seemingly insignificant 20over competition is to this country. On the day of the final, the host city is shut down almost completely, which of course is out of necessity than anything else, but what other sports competition can have that effect? From a news standpoint even, on the day of PSL final, the PSL final is all that matters. No politicians climb up their containers, no courts binge on suo motus and no clerics issue edicts. The PSL final blows its local newsmakers out of water, which is something far bigger competitions cannot manage. Bottom line being that critics can call PSL flawed and miniature but this competition’s uniqueness lies in its own modest roots. The oft-repeated slogan match PSL ka, jeet Pakistan ki may sound a bit annoying but truth is that it is indeed true. PSL does not have to be a packed tourney flashing gaudy grandeur. The fact that it exists despite Pakistan’s plethora of problems and despite being frozen out by cricketing powers that be, is an achievement in itself. Source: dawn.com

Pirate or hero? Raffles bicentennial fuels Singapore debate
S
By Tom Benner tamford Raffles landed 200 years ago. But not all welcome government plans to mark the start of colonial rule. Singapore - A pristine white statue of a man in Western clothes, arms folded with the air of a conquering hero, stands on the banks of the Singapore River at the site where he is believed to have landed exactly 200 years ago on Monday. The statue is of Sir Stamford Raffles, who cut a slippery deal with the locals in what was then known as Singapura to claim the island as a port for Britain’s East India Company. Beneath it, a plaque pays tribute to his “genius and perception” and the way in which he “changed the destiny of Singapore from an obscure fishing village to a great seaport and modern metropolis”. These days, the statue is popular with photo takers, but not everyone looks with pride on the memory of the white settler who brought the forces of imperial domination to an island that soon would be called by its Anglicised name, Singapore. “Colonialism did bring trade, laws and infrastructure - for the prosperity of the British. For many of our forebears, it also marked poverty, pain and humiliation,” columnist Tee Zhuo wrote recently in the Straits Times. “Few nations would fondly remember, much less glorify a former oppressor,” he added. Nevertheless, on Monday the tiny Southeast Asian nation kicks off a year of commemo-
rations to mark the bicentennial of Raffles’s arrival and what has long been portrayed as the founding of modern day Singapore. Many on the tropical island, with its diverse Chinese, Malay and Indian population, bristle at the notion that they are celebrating the country’s colonial subjugation and exploitation. ‘Happy place’ Some harbour conflicted feelings over the British imperialists who they say ran roughshod over the locals until they reluctantly agreed to leave in the years leading up to Singapore’s independence in the 1960s. While art student Goh Hui Ying has heard elders criticise Raffles as a “legal pirate”, she reflects a prevailing view that by creating a free port - without duties or taxes, midway between India and China - Raffles laid the foundation for what is now one of the richest cities in the world. “I grew up accepting that the British and the East India Company helped us to get started,” said Goh, 32. Others, meanwhile, are downright proud of the Raffles legacy. “Colonialism is one part. But what we gain today is a beautiful country, a peaceful life, a happy place,” said Sundren Moorthi, 68, a retired police officer, as he strode by the Raffles statue with friends. But Hazirah Helmy, 22, a history student, says it is important to question the traditional view of Raffles as a beneficent saviour,
This Valentine’s Day, Renew your vows of love
O
ur Prophet (S) is too great, and his image and reputation even are too great, to be at all affected by the few years back controversy over the cartoons. It is heartening to see that love for him (S) is alive and well, that there are some things Muslims just won’t stand for...because unfortunately lately we’ve put up with a lot of oppression and injustice, without doing anything about it. So we should be glad that hopefully this has woken some of us up, re-awakened our feelings for the Prophet (SAW). But true love is not something shown only on occasions like this. The reaction of some Muslims reminds one of a teenager who punches out some bully at school for insulting his mom, but who himself, on a daily basis, disobeys and disrespects his Mom. How many people who are upset today about the cartoons don’t actually even pray Fajr on time? How many who are angry about the cartoons continue to do things they know are against what the Prophet(S) wanted for them - \continue to entertain relationships with the opposite sex, talk about who’s hot and who’s not...act nothing like his followers, most of the time.
And yet, we claim to love him(S).
It’s almost Valentine’s Day so let me ask: would any wife appreciate being given a huge bouquet on Valentine’s Day and being ignored the rest of the year? Would any husband appreciate being given a box of chocolates on Valentine’s Day, and ignored the rest of the year? For that mat-
ter, would any mother appreciate being given a card and gift, even a diamond ring, on Mother’s Day, and forgotten the rest of the year? In a marriage, you are expected to be true to the person you marry, in good time and bad times, when it’s easy...and when it’s hard - and not just on Valentine’s Day. After all, you’ve heard many times, the bride and groom being asked: “Do you take this person to be your wedded [husband/wife] to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love, comfort, honor and keep [him/her] For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. And forsaking all others,be faithful only to him/her till death do you part?” To which they answer: “I do.” (This is a Medieval European tradition - to utter these vows). These vows are beautiful, if only people in the west actually kept to them. But we find, even in relationships between men and women, there is not much loyalty anymore...even though everyone is obsessed with the relationship between men and women, they still haven’t figured out that love is not in diamond rings and heartshaped balloons. Love is in the small things, the daily things, the everyday. True love is in every action, not just the great, but the tiny too, moment after moment, sacrifice after sacrifice. At first it is hard, then once love actually enters the heart, whatever was hard becomes easy And at that point, the Beloved permeates every corner of one’s life, every cell sings his name....
That is love.
Let us turn to an even more important relationship, the one you should have with the Beloved Prophet (S), the topic of all this controversy. Shouldn’t your relationship with the Prophet (S) be even more valuable to you than any other?
noting that when he landed in Singapore, Raffles exploited a succession dispute among local Malay rulers to cut a deal that allowed the British to establish a trading post. “We have to reconsider what his legacy means,” she said. “It’s not been questioned, how we think about our colonial history. The picture has been oversimplified, the idea that he came and he imposed order.” Bicentennial organisers stress that Raffles’s arrival was a “turning point” in a longer local history that goes back some seven centuries. “In these 700 years, we went from being a place with a geographically strategic location, to a nation and people with unique characteristics,” they wrote in promoting the year-long celebration. ‘Unethical and corrupt’ Raffles’s legacy was to bolster trade and shipping with what Britain considered the Far East. Before his arrival in Singapore, Raffles engineered a violent 1812 overthrow of Yogyakarta, the Javanese cultural capital, in what is seen by historians today as an orgy of looting and sacking. That incident was detailed in Raffles and the British Invasion, a book by historian Tim Hannigan. “Colonialism was always inherently, fundamentally, structurally unethical and corrupt, even in its supposedly most ‘enlightened’ manifestations,” Hannigan told Al Jazeera. “A proper inspection of Raffles’s record in
Southeast Asia makes it plain that any claims made for his own enlightenment and benignity are shaky, to say the least.”Plans for the 2019 bicentennial inlcude a slew of events, museum exhibits, festivals and talks. A publicity stunt kicked things off earlier this month: the statue at Raffles Landing was partially covered for several days in dark grey paint to create the impression it was “disappearing” into the backdrop of the financial district’s skyscrapers. The Singapore Bicentennial Office said in a statement: “This optical illusion on the Sir Stamford Raffles statue is … an opportunity to engage Singaporeans in an open dialogue on the arrival of the British, and the contributions of those who came before and after.” Following that, four additional statues were placed nearby to represent other key historical figures from the region. Well, the early Sahabas took vows to the Prophet (S) to declare their loyalty. The Pledge, the Oath, (Bay’a) that 12 early Muslims took declared their allegiance to the Prophet (S): We shall not associate anyone with Allah (The One God): whether in worship, His attributes, His power or His authority. We shall not indulge in adultery, fornication, and practice or propagate any other indecency. We shall not steal or rob anyone We shall not practice the custom of killing children. We shall not falsely accuse or backbite anyone. We shall not disobey you in good deeds and just cause. We shall always follow you,

Positive Vibes!
By: Shabnam Khan -Family Counsellor e go to sleep each night and wake up in the morning to a new day with new opportunities - a day which is filled with power and freedom to choose. The minute we wake up, we can choose to get out of bed and make the most of our day or feel dread about the day ahead. This is nobody’s choice but ours. Generally, the way we start our day influences how we feel for the rest of the day. When you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to take a few deep breaths and find something that you’re grateful for (your children, partner, your health or nature outside your window). Take this time to be thankful for all that you have in your life instead of wasting your energy on thinking about what you don’t have. Instead of pouncing straight out of bed, simply observe your breath. Breathe in for a count of 4 to 5 and breathe out also for a count of 4 to 5 allowing everything to drop away. Notice how your breath enters your body, notice how your breath leaves your body, and notice the little pause between each breath. This will allow you to create a sense of peace within and it will also help get you into a good head space before your feet touch the ground. It feels good and it’s an amazing way to consciously set your energy and intention towards your day moving, follow this with a nutritious breakfast to kick-start your metabolism and fuel your body to face the day ahead. Get clear about your intentions for the day. For example you can intend to
have a productive day. You can intend to have quality time with your family and friends with no distractions or limitations. You can intend to have a fun and brilliant day. You can intend to have a calm and peaceful day. You can intend to learn something new or be helpful to someone. Whatever it is just be clear about what it is you want your day to be. In order to create, manifest, and attract it, you must first align your heart, mind, and spirit with your intention. In other words, you truly need to feel it! Many people don’t understand the power of thoughts, because they live every day on autopilot, doing most things out of habit, and therefore they create their reality unconsciously as if they’re wearing a blindfold. But whether we’re aware of it or not, we create our reality with our thoughts and behaviour. This means we have the power to choose to be a conscious, mindful creator and change our reality to what we really want it to be. Remember, you choose your thoughts, you choose your behaviour, you choose the outcome. And every choice you make determines how you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally!! info:shabnam@skcounselling.ca
We Are Good Parents
By: Asma Shmas
Recently, I read a very good story. There was a brilliant boy... He always scored 100% in science and got selected in one of the worlds top most university. As well as got a high paying job and married a good person. He had everything we aim and dream of. He committed suicide or it can be equally worse to having acute depression. What went wrong? He lost his job due to economic crisis, he couldn’t keep up with his luxurious life (and bills) and he wasn’t able to adjust to it. Therefore, he killed his family and committed suicide. He was programmed for success but could not deal with crisis. We, as parents, should teach our children to handle failure and hardships of life as well as its lessons. That knowledge, that strength, which will help our children to face adverse conditions of life. We teach them how to be successful and earn good money. It is equally important to teach how money works. Instead of working only for money. Life is full of good and happy situations but as roses have thorns there are many troubles and unfavourable situations. One has to have qualities, state of mind to deal with it. God has given so many blessings to human beings. If we live with proper and right mentality we can have less stressful life. If we deal with situations the way it should be dealt with, rather than what we want it to be, problems are solved in a better way. We do not even realise but our ego, our pride, or stubbornness produces lack of understanding or adopting with other people. What should be done? As a parent we have to make our children learn to respect family members, learn to sacrifice for family, learn to adjust and find happiness in small things
too. We always take pride in saying that I have raised my daughters like sons; but we never say I have raised my sons like my daughters. We have to teach our daughters strength, education, work hard and the right to explore a career etc. At the same time we have to teach our sons to give their share in house work, have soft feelings, and respect women. It is a common scenario in any home that a daughter is asked to get up and give water or food to brothers and it extends when she is married. Her husband is sitting around the couch and watching TV and she is asked by the mother-in-law. But we never command our sons to do the same. The women folk work extremely hard in the household. A man and a woman has their roles but it does not hurt to show care by small gestures of love and act of helping around. This responsibility of having sons and daughters equally respecting each other is very important. The fathers and men of the household need to take initiative and support the mothers/wives if they command their sons to do house chores or serve guests. The family should be a team and not a divided war-zone that everyone looks out for their own ego. The families may be rich or poor, big or small, educated more or less but what matters is that it is a family obeying God and asking for His blessings.

Yes, friends, you guessed somewhat right...Wife or government! :) Happy Winter: Do not search me in this worlds loneliness, it is very cold, I am here only in my comforter.
