What is JCI? Japanese Compulsory Insurance, or JCI, is required for all vehicles registered in Japan and it must be renewed every two years. The Pit Stop Garage can do a JCI inspection, along with the requisite paperwork and registration updates necessary for JCI. JCI inspections are very thorough and may or may not require repairs. It is recommended that inspections are scheduled a minimum of two weeks to one month prior to the date of expiration listed on the vehicle’s title to allow time for repairs.

2019 MISAWA INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW

N AT IO N OR AL M OT

The Misawa International Motor Show is a place for the community to share in their love for cars, trucks, motorcycles and all things that go vroom vroom. Last year's show had over 150 entrants, with Japanese car owners travelling from as far as Tokyo to show off their one-of-a-kind show stoppers. These motor enthusiasts revved the engines of everything from million dollar Lamborghinis, Porsches, classic cars and Japanese domestic market vehicles, to a not so expensive but much loved Chevrolet, that took home the Booby Award. Stay tuned to the 35th Force Support Squadron website for updates about this year's Misawa International Motor Show. 13

PURPLE UP! For Military Children

Constantly moving around and adjusting to new surroundings, new friends and sometimes even countries, military children become resilient and resolute at a young age. April is designated the Month of the Military Child to celebrate our boys and girls and the sacrifices they have made to support their Active Duty parents. Youth Programs is dedicated to helping military children adjust to life in Misawa, with multiple activities throughout the Month of the Military Child and fun and educational programs all year long. Every Friday in April, we ask you to Purple Up! for our military children. Purple is the official color of the Month of the Military Child because it incorporates all of the colors of the five service branches in the U.S. Military.

TANEICHI

Meet Miyuki Taneichi! Have you ever wondered who makes those concerts happen? Jabbawockeez, Rob Schneider and all the others? She and her staff at the Community Commons work day and night, month after month to bring you the entertainers and programs that keep Misawa happy. In the past three months alone she has brought three huge entertainment acts, relocated her facility from the Weasels' Den to Building 1006, our new Community Commons, and helped plan and restructure the facility to support our community. Miyuki was born and raised in Oirase and now calls Towada home. She is the proud mother of a beautiful nine year old daughter, Takara and spends her valued time off relaxing with family, traveling to festivals and enjoying the bountiful life of northern Japan. She also volunteers as an interpreter for Misawa City and its functions. Many new and exciting changes are coming to her facility so watch for the movie screening room and gaming area to be fully functional soon. She also will be leading the charge into American Day, Red White & Boom and Air Fest 2019 planning. More entertainers are on the slate to include Cirque Dreams on Mother’s Day weekend. Take a few moments to thank her for over 20 years of service and for keeping Misawa entertained!
