NEW!

At Hotokegaura Beach, nearly 20 million years ago deep sea volcanic activity created a precipice of green volcanic tuff around the current village of Sai on the Shimokita peninsula. Over many years, the rough waves of Tsugaru Channel eroded the precipice turning it into a fantastically shaped rock formation that goes on for two kilometers along the coast. Also, we will take the short hike to the top of Baba rock to get your blood pumping and camera shutter clicking!

Explore Japan through the eyes of our Adventure Team with video and photos of YOU having FUN! @MisawaAB.ODR

PRO’S CORNER The famous “Green Jacket” will once again be given away this month as it’s time for The 2021 Masters Golf Tournament. Blooming azaleas and a drive down “Magnolia Lane” are a reminder that spring is here and the golf season is upon us! “The Masters” is also synonymous with lightning quick greens. This month’s golf tip will be about putting. No matter what the handicap of the golfer, it seems their focus on the greens is with the line of the putt. That’s fine for shorter putts, but for lengthy putts, little thought is given to the length they want their putt to travel, commonly referred to as “speed”. I’ll often witness a long putt that is on line, but end up eight feet short or eight feet beyond the cup. A contrasting scenario is a putt that misses the line by a wide margin, let’s say two feet. If the speed on that putt is precise though, the golfer is only left with around a two foot putt. Your putting will greatly improve on lengthy or lag-type putts if you give as much or even more attention to the speed of the putt versus the line of the putt. Fairways and Greens,

What is your favorite part about working for the Gosser Golf Course? I love the natural surroundings and the fresh air here at the golf course. You can see wild animals sometimes and the sunsets are beautiful in the evening. Another one of my favorite parts about working for the Gosser Golf Course is the delicious food served at the Lakeview Grille.

FSS Spotlight

What do you wish the Misawa community knew about your programs? There are so many events each season at the golf course to take advantage of and practice your swing. We have tournaments, golf lessons, kid’s clinics, tent sales, breakfast burritos at the Pro Shop and the Pavilion Grille is open on the weekends!

What is your favorite memory working for the Gosser Golf Course? I have a lot of memories at golf course. I have met a lot of great people here including supervisors, coworkers, customers and friends. The most special memory is when I met my husband here!
