PRO’S CORNER With most of the summer behind us it is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. With this said, it is still a time to remember safety when getting outside. Staying hydrated is key to having a good time and not ending up a heat casualty. Water before, during and after outdoor activities is essential to staying hydrated. Sunscreen and insect repellant are also great ideas to protect your skin from the sun and bugs. We live in an area surrounded by water and agriculture that relies on ooded elds that are prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Get outside and enjoy, especially the golf course, because in the immortal words of Jon Snow, “winter is coming.” See you at the course!

This month the 35th Force Support Squadron will say goodbye to a person who has touched the life of every member of the Misawa Community. Mrs. Vanessa Martin, our Community Center Director, will be sorely missed by everyone. From her humble beginnings as a clerk at the FSS Central Warehouse, to Marketing & Publicity Assistant, to Community Center Director, she has diligently performed above and beyond. If you have been to a concert, she’s organized it from beginning to end and she played an integral role in planning other big community events like Red, White and Boom, Airfest and American Day.

Through typhoons, blizzards or the occasional sunny day, she has pulled off the incredible. Misawa wanted bingo and she made it happen. Thanks to her efforts, soon there will be gymnastics at the Weasels' Den. Her legacy will live on for years to come. Congratulations to Vanessa for a job well done. Misawa thanks you for being one of the best the 35th FSS has ever had. Bon voyage and happy trails, JBER is inheriting one of Misawa’s brightest stars.
