Meet your Education Goals in 2024 Do your New Year’s resolutions include furthering your education or career? Make sure you know the requirements and deadlines so you can meet those goals. Here are some 2024 dates to keep in mind for the upcoming year.
Commissioning • ROTC scholarship programs SOAR and ASCP packages are due Saturday, Feb. 3. • USAF Officer Training School applications due Monday, March 18 (Rated) and Monday, May 13 (Non-Rated). • Senior Leader Enlisted Commissioning Program (SLECP-A/O) tasker is usually disseminated to leadership in summer (TBD) with short suspense for submission. • US Air Force Academy’s LEAD commissioning program packages are due by Tuesday, Dec. 31.
Scholarships Scholarships and grants have varying deadlines throughout the year, including: • Misawa United Club scholarship for high school/spouse due annually in March. • Air Force Association scholarships due annually in April. • FAFSA forms must be submitted by Sunday, June 30 for federal funds; however, states and schools may have earlier deadlines or may run out of funding prior to this date.
Testing • Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS) E-6 testing is scheduled from Thursday, February 15 to Monday, April 15; E-5 testing is scheduled from Wednesday, May 1 to Sunday, June 30. Members must inform their WAPS Monitors about any TDY, scheduled leave, or other unavailability prior to scheduling in January. • Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) scores are required for commissioning packages. AFOQTs are offered monthly, and there is a five-month waiting period between retesting. • Defense Language Proficiency Tests (DLPT) are offered biweekly. Members who need to test for LEAP, FLPB, or for a Host Nation Language education goal must monitor their own deadlines to avoid loss of funding/eligibility.

COMMANDER SUPPORT
9/1/23 9:47 AM
ANDREW MAY
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING IN THE COMMANDER’S SUPPORT STAFF (CSS)? The opportunity to assist all Force Support Squadron (FSS) team members and help develop Airmen. WHAT DO YOU WISH THE MISAWA COMMUNITY KNEW ABOUT YOUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES? The CSS in FSS (or other units) has access to or impact on most of the programs that affect unit members every day. This ranges from timecards to duty status reporting to network access. WHAT IS YOUR BEST MEMORY IN CSS? My best memories in FSS are when I can provide Airmen with tools to help them achieve financial independence. Also when I can help our team members to resolve issues that might stump other agencies.
