PGA PROFESSIONAL PROFES PROF FESSIONAL TIP
Building 1464 Chipping ng on Sog Soggy Turf rf
As the rainy season is about to b begin, n, we will be faced fac ced with short shots around nd the he green gr from soggy turf. We have all experienced th the “c “chili dip” chip where the b ball only travels a couple of feet only to leave us with virtually the same shot from the same turf. The best thing to remember is to take club with less loft. Less loft leaves less opportunity for the club to dig in the ground. Hold a straighter faced club, like a 6 iron, and stroke it like a putter. As long as you allow for more roll than you would for your wedge you will end up just fine. Be sure to practice this and you will see more consistent results on the course. If you have questions on this or any other rules of golf issues please contact our PGA Golf Professional who would be happy to help! GENERAL EDUCATION MOBILE FOR CCAF WHAT IS GENERA AL EDUCATTION MO OBILE (GEM M)?
GEM is an exciting partnership between the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and civilian academic institutions to offer General Education courses to meet the CCAF Associate in Applied Science degree requirements. The average gradation time for CCAF students is eight years because General Education courses are usually the last taken. The goal is to reduce the average CCAF graduation time to less than four years.
WHY Y GEM M?
• Courses are offered in a distance learning format with “anytime, anywhere” availability. • Eases student course selection and registration via single-point access on the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC). • Facilitates student planning across entire General Education curriculum— motivates student to complete courses on a self-paced timeline. • Features partnerships with civilian academic institutions to offer education focused on freshman/sophomore level instruction. 28 |
July 2022
HOW DO OES GEEM WO ORK?
GEM students can conveniently search for schools that meet their needs and preferences on AFVEC (afvec.us.af.mil/afvec). Students then contact the GEM school directly to enroll in General Education courses. When applying for tuition assistance, Step 4 requires you to input your course(s); simply click on the GEM header to easily find approved GEM courses.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT MISAWA CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAMS? There are so many reasons why I like my job, but working with children and families is simply fun! This job motivates me to become a better person. I constantly strive to find the right answers to questions asked by our youth. This also helps me to be a well-informed person and role model for them.
WHAT DO YOU WISH THE MISAWA COMMUNITY KNEW ABOUT YOUR PROGRAMS? Working with children is not just babysitting. Our staff strives every day to help the children feel happier, stronger and more empowered. This job is not an easy job, but it gives you so much happiness when you know you were able to help the children. If you enjoy working with children, a job within the Child & Youth Programs could become your career as there are many Child & Youth Programs anywhere you go.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST MEMORY WORKING AT MISAWA CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAMS? My best memories of Misawa Child and Youth has always been during the Month of the Military Child. We brainstorm and set up opportunities for families to celebrate thier children during this special month. These programs have been a great success!

Navy Federal is federally insured by NCUA. 1Offer valid for new Visa Signature® Flagship Rewards Credit Card accounts applied for between 7/1/22 and 8/31/22. To be eligible for the 30,000 points offer, you must make $3,500 or more in net purchases within 90 days of account opening. Rewards are earned on eligible net purchases. “Net purchases” means the sum of your eligible purchase transactions minus returns and refunds. Eligible purchase transactions do not include, and rewards are not earned for, the following transactions: cash advances, convenience checks, balance transfers, gambling or fees of any kind, including finance charges, late fees, returned check fees, ATM cash advance fees, and annual fees, if any. Cash equivalent transactions, such as the purchase, loading, or reloading of gift and prepaid cards (e.g., money orders, GO Prepaid Cards and other cash equivalent gift cards), may not be eligible purchase transactions and may not earn rewards. Please allow up to eight weeks after the 90-day period for the 30,000 points to post to your rewards balance. Account must be open and not in default at the time the 30,000 points are posted to your rewards balance. Limit of one promotional offer at account opening. Navy Federal reserves the right to change or end this offer at any time without notice. 2Offer applies only to annual Amazon Prime memberships. Not valid for recurring membership monthly payment option or Amazon Prime Student. Annual membership must be purchased between 7/1/22 and 12/31/22. Offer valid for your Visa Signature Flagship Rewards Credit Card and is not transferable. Limit of one promotional offer per card. Please allow 6-8 weeks after the membership is renewed or opened for the statement credit to post to your account. Navy Federal reserves the right to end or modify this offer at any time without notice. Eligible purchase transactions do not include, and rewards are not earned for, the following transactions: cash advances, convenience checks, balance transfers, gambling, or fees of any kind, including finance charges, late fees, returned check fees, ATM cash advance fees, and annual fees. Cash equivalent transactions, such as the purchase, loading, or reloading of gift and prepaid cards (e.g., money orders, GO Prepaid Cards, and other cash equivalent gift cards), may not be eligible purchase transactions and may not earn rewards. A travel purchase may only earn 2 points per dollar spent, depending on the merchant code used to process the transaction. Travel is typically categorized under merchant category codes such as airline, hotel, car rental, bus lines, taxis, cruise lines, time shares, parking, and transit. Additional categories may be ineligible, in which case you will receive 2 points per dollar spent at these locations based on the merchant category codes.
