Disc golf follows the rules of traditional golf, where players strive to complete each hole in the least amount of strokes possible. However, instead of using a ball and clubs, players throw discs, much like Frisbees® but smaller and designed especially to fly with more precision for the sport. These discs each have a certain weight or thickness that designates them as drivers, putters, etc. Players throw a disc from each tee to an elevated metal basket to complete their turn. Meticulous grooming of a course is not a requirement for this sport. Trees, streams and terrain changes provide challenging obstacles and an exciting course. Disc golf was designed for anyone and disc golf courses are often in public parks, open year round and FREE to play on in all weather, with people from all walks of life. The sport truly is loved by many. Try it out for yourself!

Outdoor Recreation Center Facilities Nature Trails Located near The Lodge Open daily, dawn to dusk *Only maintained in spring/summer Northern Japan is teeming with natural sights to explore and we are lucky enough to have access to an abundant wilderness right here on Misawa Air Base. Take a hike and see many plant varieties indigenous to the area, such as Japanese wild ginger and mountain fern. Look out for the occasional wildlife sighting, to include foxes and serows. These trails start out as easy to explore but caution is suggested when hiking with little ones. The terrain becomes more difficult to conquer when venturing further in, with steep and winding paths, as well as marshes draped in foliage, that little ones may easily slip in to.
Leftwich Park Located near Security Hill Open daily, dawn to dusk $30 facility rental fee Leftwich Park has a large park area for plenty of outdoor activities. It also features large grills for barbecuing and plenty of covered and uncovered seating.
Camp Falcon Located near The Lodge Open for private reservations year round $30 facility rental fee Rent Camp Falcon for your next event, get-together or just to camp out under the stars. The campgrounds have small bleacher seating, in-ground fire pits and a small covered area with benches.
