What is a fact?
A fact is something that is true. Â Facts are something that you can prove to be true. Fact! There are nine planets in our solar system. Fact! The earth is the third planet from the sun. The answer will always be the same. Have a think. What facts can you tell the person next to you about yourself?
So‌what is belief? A belief is having confidence and trust in the truth or existence of something. You can believe something to be true even if you can’t prove it. Religious people may believe that God exists but there is no scientific proof that there is a God or gods. Can anyone give me another example of a belief?
Fact or Belief? Copy down the following sentences and write down whether they are fact or belief in a different colour. 1. There British flag is red, white and blue. 2. I believe in life after death. I believe in spirits and ghosts. I believe miracles can occur. I believe that there is other life in the universe.

What is a ‘religion’? Some of us have similar beliefs. This is called a ‘common belief.’ A religion is when a large group of people have a common belief about a supernatural power that created and /or controls life and should be obeyed and worshiped.
Are these religions? 1. I, and no one else, believe that life was created by a giant elephant. 2. Muslims believe that the world was created by Allah. 3. Some people believe in the tooth fairy. 4. Christians believe that Jesus was the Son of God. 5. I believe that the Worcester Warriors will win their next game.
