Father Abraham It is believed that Abraham lived over 4000 years ago. He is one of the founders of Judaism and Christianity, and is know as Father Abraham or the Patriarch (a male head of family, tribe or community). He was very obedient because he did everything God asked. His story shows Jewish people that God is always faithful.
A covenant is an agreement between two parties, a bit like a promise. God made a covenant with Abraham that he would be ‘the father of a nation’ and that his descendants would be God’s Chosen people. Abraham was the first person to put all his trust into one God. God told him to move to another country and in return he would have a child. Abraham and Sarah had never been able to have children and really wanted them!
