Mayor’s message
O
n behalf of the District of Mission council and the citizens of Mission, I am pleased to welcome all guests to our community. Nestled along the north bank of the Fraser River, Mission offers small town hospitality and a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, golfing, and world-class sturgeon and salmon fishing. Mission is also home to numerous festivals and events which take place throughout the year, including the Folk Music Festival, Old Car Sunday, Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival, and the Candlelight Parade. As a growing and desirable community in the Lower
Mainland of British Columbia, Mission further offers business opportunities for its residents and visitors alike. The current Mission residents are truly proud to call our community home. Therefore, I would like to extend an open invitation to every visitor to Mission to explore and experience all aspects of our community. I hope you enjoy your visit to Mission, and if you would like to learn more about us, please visit our website at www.mission.ca or call the Mayor’s office at 604-820-3700 or 1-800-944-5706. Community rich in history and culture Mission is home to the “oldest house in British Columbia,” the first and only armed train robbery in Canada and the 100 Mile Challenge television show. Located along the banks of the Fraser River, Mission was named for the mission built by the Oblates of the Immaculate Mary in 1861. The city grew rapidly throughout the later half of the 1800s, with the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1886. In 1891, Mission became home to the first railway crossing linking British Columbia and the United States. On Sept. 10, 1904 the notorious Bill Miner and two
accomplices robbed a CPR train as it left Mission. The oldest known dwelling site in B.C. is Xa:ytem, which remains an important site celebrating the heritage of the Sto:lo people, whose ancestors inhabited the site 9,000 years ago. Settlements, and industries like forestry and agriculture, thrived through the next 100 years, with a hiccup in 1948, when the Fraser River flooded the entire area, including the downtown which was then located on the waterfront. The city moved its downtown core to its current location on higher ground, and has continued to grow in population, business and diversity ever since.

Power House at Stave Falls still generates interest
SPARK YOUR IMAGINATION EXPERIENCE AN AUTHENTIC 1912 GENERATING STATION
National Historic site remains similar to when it was first constructed in 1912
Self-guided tour:
The 1912 Power House at Stave Falls began working again in 2002, this time generating visitors rather than electricity. The National Historic Site of Canada remains similar to the way it was first built, and is now a first-class interpretive centre. The generator hall is filled with the original five generators and turbines for visitors to experience up close. All tours start in the theatre, where the video Rain introduces you to hydro electricity. You also get a glimpse of the early 1900s and see what the facility has become today. Electrica, a hands-on area, is divided into two sections, alternative energies and the science of electricity. Look out for special events throughout the year at the Power House, like Christmas in July and the Haunted Power House in October. Call for more information on events, field trips and tour options. Hours for self-guided tours from March to October are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and hours are reduced to 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from November to March.

Make downtown your place to shop Mission’s downtown core is the heart of the municipality’s retail and commercial sector and for several years a group of dedicated volunteers have helped guide the area. The Downtown Business Association (DBA) is made up of all the merchants and landowners in Mission’s downtown. Its goal is to create a prosperous and vital downtown. The DBA helps to coordinate events in the downtown area, like customer appreciation nights and the always fun Cookie Night. Add to that the aesthetic touches, such as the beautiful flower baskets which grace lamp posts along First
JJohn h C. C Carney, C Artistic A Director D
Avenue each summer, and you’ll agree the organization has been working hard to make downtown the place to shop. The DBA’s brand new website (listed above) aims to keep people up to date on what’s happening downtown, so check back often to see the next exciting event. As well the DBA acts as a liaison between store owners and the District of Mission and it cooperates with the municipality and the Chamber of Commerce in any efforts to improve and enhance the cultural, social and economic conditions existing within the district.

Shopping local supports Mission In recent years we’ve been hearing more and more about “shopping local.” What does it mean and why do it? Shopping local means buying from stores owned and operated by people who live in your community, and there are many good reasons to shop in Mission. First there is the selection; local stores are more likely to carry special and unusual goods that you just can’t get from major retailers. It’s a great way to find unique items, and come away with something that will have your friends asking, “Where did you get that?” Second, because local stores tend to be more specialized the owners and staff are incredibly knowledgeable. In many cases they’ve chosen what to stock and can answer your questions in greater detail. Local businesses are good for the community. Money spent here stays in Mission. In addition, staying close to home is good for the environment and reduces car use, and small businesses generate jobs. Local stores give communities a sense of individuality and character you can’t get from big box stores. Vibrant downtowns are the heart of many communities, and by shopping local you can support them. Improving your community while buying great things from knowledgeable people, no wonder everyone is talking about shopping local.
Our tax preparation service never ends. Year-round tax service provided. You don’t have to wait until tax time to get answers to your tax questions. Come to H&R Block and you’ll get the same fast, friendly, accurate service you get when we prepare your return.

Explore four main commercial areas Mission has a variety of shopping areas in town: the downtown core, Junction Mall, along Lougheed and near waterfront There are four main areas in Mission to shop, each with its own unique characteristics. Visit them all, and find your favourite area and store. • In the downtown core, you will find an abundance of independent, locally owned retail stores, restaurants and services. A heritage walk takes you past several specialty
stores featuring new treasures and collectibles. • The Junction on London Avenue includes several major specialty stores, restaurants and a multiplex movie theatre. • Along the Lougheed Highway, just west of downtown, there are a number of shopping plazas, fast food and franchise restaurants, retail stores and service stations. • Between the railway tracks and the waterfront you will find repair shops, a boat repair facility and a neighbourhood pub. This area was the original Mission town centre, and there are plans to redevelop and expand the waterfront area over the next several years.

Mission-Vancouver trip in 73 minutes The West Coast Express (WCE) is the commuter service that connects Mission with downtown Vancouver and the rest of the Lower Mainland. A one-way trip on the line takes 73 minutes, and an emphasis is placed on passenger comfort. Available in downtown Mission, train service operates Monday to Friday during peak commuter times, and is supplemented by the TrainBus service which operates seven days a week, except for statutory holidays. There are two daily TrainBus runs leaving Mission in the morning, and five returns at night. The eight stations along the route are Mission, Port Haney, Maple Meadows, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam Central, and Port Moody, with the downtown

The line links passengers with SkyTrain, Seabus and the rest of the public transit system in the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver. The Mission station is located on the south side of North Railway Avenue, between Welton and Horne. The station platform is connected to the parking area by an overhead walkway. WCE offers many additional services, including a Santa Train, which offers Valley shoppers access to Vancouver for the cost of a food donation and toy. Dive into Mission’s fascinating history Mission has a rich history, and in the downtown core there are two buildings where people can see the past brought to life. Housed in the former Canadian Bank of Commerce building that was erected in 1907, the Mission Museum offers visitors a look at the diverse history of Mission through its material culture. The items on display range from artifacts left by ancient Sto:lo people, the ancestors of the native people who made the Fraser Valley their home, to more recent pieces brought by pioneers. The family friendly atmosphere, combined with hands-on exhibits are ideal for children of all ages, and the gift store is a great place to pick up some hard candy before leaving. The next exhibit will be The Evolution of Communication, showing off a brick cellphone, crystal radio and a perpetual calendar. This exhibit opens Feb. 21. Other events are the annual antiques
appraisal, Community Garden planting and summer kid’s club. The museum is located at 33201 Second Ave. Phone 604-826-1011 or visit www.mission.museum.bc.ca.

Explore Mission with your best friend Few individuals enjoy travelling as much as our pets – if only because they hate to be left behind. And the traveller who brings along his or her furry companion will find that Mission has the amenities to make their stay completely comfortable – even a fine hotel that doesn’t mind taking pets. There are many wild spaces where you can let your canine friend get together with other four-legged pals, but there are also ideal locations within the residential district that are great for this purpose. Centennial Park, located between 11 Avenue and Taulbut Street, is an enormous space with beautiful grass and old growth trees. The gentle hills and ample running room provide a great space for your four-legged friends to explore. There is a new off-leash portion of the park located in the northern area. Dog bag dispensers are available on-site. Ogle Park may be smaller, but it’s no less ideal. Located at Badger Avenue and Beaver Drive, Ogle Park is fenced, has a play structure for kids and also has dog bag dispensers on-site. There is a place to lodge where your animals are welcome. The Best Western Mission City Lodge is also one of a few pet-friendly hotels in the Fraser Valley, making it an ideal place to stay while travelling with furry friends.

District helps turn out global citizens Mission School District has developed a reputation for safe and caring schools that welcome students and parents into an educational partnership focused on student achievement. The district has 13 elementary and three secondary schools, including French Immersion programs in two elementary schools and one secondary school. There is also Riverside College which provides trades training, careers and apprenticeship programs, plus Summit Learning Centre, a home and virtual education program for students of all grades. All schools here have specifically designed student performance goals in its School Growth Plan, while the goals of the accountability contract reflect these learning objectives. The district’s main focus is improving achievement for all learners in literacy, numeracy and social responsibility, all framed within a respectful learning environment. Riverside College
With an emphasis on trades, training, careers and apprenticeships, the Dewdney Trunk Road facility is designed to lead graduates directly to employment. The intent is to combine trades training or a career program with a high school graduation program. Students do not have to choose a university path to graduate with a prestigious trade. Sixty per cent of job openings in the next 10 years are expected to be in trades and technology. Mass sung daily at Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey attracts thousands of visitors each year to its serene perch high above the Fraser Valley, just northeast of downtown Mission. Benedictine monks have carved out a nearly self-sufficient lifestyle there, raising cows, chickens and pigs as well as tending crops. Construction of a church in 1982 was the realization of a 28-year-old dream for the monks of Westminster Abbey. Planned over a 20-year period by Vancouver architect Asbjorn Gathe, the modernistic church has taken over duties as the monks’ house of worship. The church is 162 feet long by 110 feet wide at the transepts and contains 64 stained-glass windows. The rainbow-coloured, 1.5 inch-thick
pieces of glass create windows that stand 22 feet high around the perimeter of the church. A dome of coloured glass rises 60 feet above the altar, allowing shafts of light to stream down into the church. In addition to the Abbey, The Seminary of Christ the King accommodates students who study to become secular priests. Mass is sung at 10 a.m. on Sunday and 6:30 a.m. weekdays. There are also some walking paths on the Abbey grounds, which lead wanderers to an exceptional viewpoint overlooking Hatzic and the Fraser River. If you do plan on walking these paths, please leave your animals behind, and stick to the path. Additionally, there are dozens of

Pilgrimage Aug. 20 In 1892, the first and largest Marian shrine was erected in B.C. The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was built on a rock promontory in the upper reaches of St. Mary’s Mission and Residential School. A reconstruction of the Grotto was completed in 1997 and still every year, thousands of people gather in Fraser River Heritage Park for the annual Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto. The trek this year happens Aug. 20. For more information please call 604-826-2452. MISSION 2011 • SPIRIT OF THE FRASER

From sturgeon to salmon, Mission boasts world-class angling adventure Try your hand at hunting down the famous white sturgeon on the Mighty Fraser River Anglers can find some spectacular fishing in the Fraser River near Mission. Mission’s sturgeon fishery is one of a kind, and local fishing guides can give even seasoned anglers a new experience. The Fraser is considered the most productive salmon river in the world, and in any given year 30 million salmon will pass Mission. When the big fish spawn fishermen line sand bars virtually shoulder to shoulder on a sunny weekend. Mission has been labelled the Sturgeon Capital of the World. During spring, summer and fall, you can stand on the dike from Harbour Park to Dewdney Slough and watch anglers
catch monster sturgeon. Although late summer through to early winter is best for fishing, sturgeon can be caught year-round if you learn a little about feeding patterns and migration routes. During summer months the salmon fishing is incredible. Although you can fish near Mission for salmon, the best spots are up-river from the mouth of the Sumas River and further east towards Hope. Gravel bars located along the river banks are the best location, so all you need to do is find access routes to these areas. You can find good information at the Mission Chamber of Commerce.

Ample angling at hand summer to fall Salmon migrations begin in the Fraser River as early as April. Although the good fishing doesn’t really get going until mid-June, you can catch salmon on the Fraser just about year-round. Some of the best fishing is between mid-June to mid-November. Anglers from around the world now consider the Fraser River one of the top angling destinations in North America.
beyond. Pink (mid-August to mid-October) Pink salmon return to the Fraser every second year on odd years, and they will run again in 2011. Pinks are the smallest salmon, averaging between three and five pounds, but they are also the most plentiful, returning in huge numbers often in the tens of millions.
Chinook, June 15 to Aug. 31
Coho, chum (late September to late November)
Chinook are the largest salmon, some tipping the scales at 50 pounds and more, and they run every year. There are two runs, one in June that lasts until August, and a fall run that goes from September until November. Most local anglers and guides fish for chinook between Mission and Chilliwack, although you can catch them all the way up to Hope and
Coho and chum begin their annual return to the Fraser around mid-to-late August. The run really gets going in mid-September for those anglers fishing the lower river. The upper river above Chilliwack produces fish all the way through until mid-to-late November. This fishery is one of our most consistent on the Fraser and can offer some incredible angling opportunities.
Sockeye (mid-July to mid-September)
Sockeye salmon is one of the most popular freshwater fisheries, but the size of the runs and angling opportunities have become difficult to predict. They will be running again in 2011. Community blooms on national stage Mission has blossomed into a five-bloom community with an abundance of flowers and beautiful streets and gardens Mission is a five-bloom community on the national Communities in Bloom stage. What does that mean? “People, plants and pride… growing together” is the essence of the program. Communities in Bloom is a program where towns and cities across Canada work to beautify homes, businesses and public places through horticulture, tidiness, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscaping and floral displays. These communities are judged provincially, nationally, or internationally and awarded an appropriate number of blooms, with five being the optimum. Mission has blossomed with beautiful flowers in the shopping areas and residential gardens. It is a tidy, clean, and very environmentally aware town. We have earned the coveted “five out of five” blooms in the national competition, and we are again invited to compete on the national level, against other towns our size from across the country.
Mission Communities in Bloom Society is all about Mission Blooming into the best town to live in Canada!
Mission is a town of volunteers. We work hard all year with local government, community groups and individuals to build and maintain a town that we are proud to call home. Join us and enjoy the busy downtown, visit the tidy parks, heritage sites, Mission Arts Centre, and hike on the wellmaintained trails. There are a wide variety of activities for all ages. Mission Raceway elevation leads to faster times Mission has one of the fastest drag strips in all of Western Canada and the U.S. Northwest. Hundreds of drivers and thousands of fans converge on Mission Raceway Park (MRP) throughout the summer for some speed. Putting on a good show for participants and spectators has earned MRP the Track of the Year title for the Northwest Division eight times. The low elevation (24 feet above sea level) boosts horsepower, making it one of the fastest quarter mile strips on the professional circuit. The action gets underway this year May 27-29, as the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) brings highcalibre drag racing to town for the B.C. Nationals. Drag racing is the big draw, but MRP has evolved into a first-class facility for all types of auto sports, including road racing as well as, motorcycle road racing, motocross and karting. Owned and operated by the non-profit B.C. Custom Car Association, the drag strip provides safe, controlled racing conditions for those who range from casual hobbyists to internationally-ranked professionals.

A day of skiing, fun at Hemlock Located in the high mountains to the northeast of Mission, Hemlock Mountain Resort provides visitors and locals with some of the best and most consistent powder in the Fraser Valley. Hemlock is planning to open more terrain in order to provide an even more exciting ski experience, and is hoping to expand its summer operations, which will ideally contain mountain biking and hiking trails, as well as a ziptrek line. Hemlock is the ideal destination for those looking for a great day in the snow, without the long drive up to Whistler or Big White. The slopes are primarily marked intermediate, and provide a great place to brush up on your terrain skiing, as well as cross-country. The kids will love the tubing course, and the ski instructors are top notch. Hemlock also provides not only guided and unguided snowshoe treks, but Molly Hogan’s Bar & Grill too. World class music comes to Mission The annual Mission Folk Music Festival features rich and diverse entertainers from around the world This year’s Mission Folk Music Festival begins on Thursday, July 21 with a Gala Concert at the Clarke Foundation Theater, and moves to the festival site at Fraser River Heritage Park from July 22 to 24. One of Western Canada’s finest music events, it enjoys an international profile that is respected at home and abroad. Every year the festival brings some of the world’s best music from across Canada and North America, Europe, Africa, South America, Asia and beyond, as well as a focus on Aboriginal music and culture from around the globe and locally. This year the festival is partnering with the World Harp Symposium, Culture Ireland, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, and the ministries of culture of several countries to put together a program unique to this festival and of the highest quality of music. The artistic vision of the festival’s organizers continues to attract the best, the rarest, and the unheard of that should be heard. The festival also nurtures local artists while reaching
around the globe to bring in the world’s great music, and encourages audiences to discover new musical forms and ideas and to become aware of the richness and diversity of music of many peoples and cultures as well as the richness in our own community, province and country. The popular event also strives to balance the new and even daring with brilliant reflections of familiar sounds and traditions, and bring it all together in a festival that works in the small town of Mission on a weekend in July. In pursuing this vision, the Mission Folk Music Festival has carved out a niche that is unique among Canadian festivals. Programming includes, yet reaches far beyond, the annual roster of touring artists to present music and cultural expressions special to this festival, artists often not seen at shows anywhere else in Canada. The festival’s audiences have come to expect and appreciate music they’ve not heard of before; they’ve come to trust that whatever appears on the Mission stages will excite and expand their musical horizons. Festival and ticket information will be available on the festival’s website in the spring. Check www.missionfolkmusicfestival.ca for updates.

Municipal forest offers natural beauty The District of Mission is fortunate to have over 10,000 hectares of forested lands in which to recreate. In 1958, the provincial government granted Tree Farm Licence 26 to manage the forest resources. The economic and social benefits come from community stability generated by steady local employment and revenue, control of the local forest resources, and providing forest recreation and educational opportunities. The municipal forest is generally located north of downtown Mission, accessible via several locations along Dewdney Trunk Road. Over half of the municipal forest lies on the western shores of Stave Lake. It offers over 11 trails and areas of varying degrees of difficulty, length
and type. All trails can accommodate hiking but there are additional nonmotorized, multi-use trails on which you can ride horses or mountain bikes. This spectacular backdoor playground features locations that offer stunning vistas such as Mt. Baker, Vancouver Island, Fraser Valley, Mt. Robie Reid, Golden Ears Mountains and the beautiful Stave Lake. There are also amazing waterfalls, serene small lakes, and pockets of accessible old growth forests. Trail information is in the Mission Parks and Trails Guide available from the Chamber of Commerce or at www.mission.ca/ live/municipal-forest/forest-trailsrecreation-areas/trails. Step into the 1920s at Kilby in Harrison Mills The Kilby Historic Site is the perfect place for a trip down memory lane. Kilby General Store is all that remains of the original town of Harrison Mills, a once-bustling community. The store was the hub of the town, serving as the general supply store, post office, gas station, hotel and meeting place. With saw mills and train stations close by, the store catered to everyone from locals to vacationers. Connecting boardwalks were built around town because Harrison Mills suffered from many floods. Kilby General Store still has its boardwalks intact, a prominent feature of this historic site. Thomas Kilby, who was born in England in 1868 and moved to B.C. in the late 1880s, opened the store in 1906, but it was his son, Acton, who began promoting the store as a museum. The province bought the operation from the family in 1972. The Kilbys still maintain a close relationship with the historic site that was once their family home. Today, the Kilby General Store is a museum packed with fascinating products from the 1920s and 1930s. Along with the museum, the historic site also contains a five-acre working farm, which includes other heritage buildings and friendly farm animals, 56

Discover all the corners of Mission The District of Mission is a large area, comprised of several smaller communities Mission may look like a small town, but the district is beautiful and vast. From Silverdale in the west to Deroche in the east, it is a municipality made up of smaller communities, each with distinct characteristics. The following are some of the unique corners outside the city centre that make up Mission.
Steelhead
Steelhead, located in northern Mission, was first inhabited in the early 1900s. There are two stories about how the community received its name. Some believe the area is named after the salmon that used to go up the Stave River, and others say it was named after a railway that was supposed to be built in the area. Today, the area is home to many working professionals who enjoy the quiet, natural setting and most of Mission’s municipal forest. There are many worthwhile hiking trails here.
Southwest Mission
There are two communities known as Silverdale and Silverhill in this part of Mission. Both have a community hall which used to be the gathering place for dances, fundraisers and local meetings.
Silverhill was mostly known as a Swedish settlement in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Many of the families that started the community still live there today. The Donatelli family came from Italy and homesteaded 160 acres in the 1890s. Many descendants from the two Donatelli brothers who first came to Mission, still live on parts of the original property in Silverdale. If you are in this area, be sure to visit Hayward Lake, a popular recreation site for families throughout the year. Go for a picnic and swim during the summer. Or you can hike all, or a section of, the 18 km loop trail any time.
McConnell Creek
Settlement first came to McConnell Creek in the late 1800s. It was a logging community, and there were many small mills, which attracted workers. McConnell Creek, located about six miles northeast of Mission, was named after a logger named Jack McConnell. Early settlers built their homes out of the plentiful cedar. Louis Carrat came to the area in 1894 and homesteaded 360 acres. On his land he built a magnificent garden and three sets of waterfalls, which is now known as Cascade Falls. Today, the scenic Cascade Falls attracts visitors and locals alike. At the end of Sylvester Road, which leads to McConnell Creek, is a logging road and access to a few lakes and recreational area for ATVers, dirt bikers and hikers. Grab your picnic lunch and explore Mission’s parks There are dozens of parks in Mission you can enjoy. The following are some of our favourites. Fraser River Heritage Park
This park features majestic views of Mt. Baker and the Fraser Valley. There are picnic tables throughout the park and steady breezes make it a favourite place for flying kites. Centennial Park
There are picnic tables throughout this large park, along with plenty of shade. There is a jogging trail, tennis courts and a children’s playground area. Hayward Lake
This is one of the best spots in the Fraser Valley with a picnic area, beach and trails. Cascade Falls
Located just east of Mission, the main feature is a series of waterfalls on Cascade Creek.
Play on the Fraser For thousands of years the Mission area has been home to “the people of the river’’ and the Fraser River still plays an important part in our recreation culture. There are boat launches for recreational boaters and river tours for those who want an adventure or to learn more about this tremendous resource and its history. Boat launches

Take a drive along the Scenic 7 route Also known as the Lougheed Highway, the Scenic 7 provides an “off-the-beaten-path” link between Hope and Vancouver. From extreme adventures to simple warm hospitality, there is something for everyone in Mighty Fraser Country. Along the route discover many visitor attractions that offer a wide variety of experiences ranging from world-class sturgeon fishing to farm-fresh shopping and championship golf courses, the rich history and culture of the many communities at National Historic Sites and other and unique First Nations attractions.
Discover delicious delights for all your taste buds The Mission Farmers Market is held every Saturday, May through September, beside the Mission Library. Come and try a heritage apple from Silverhill Orchard, or some hormone-free, grass fed beef from folks at Hippy Cow Beef. Up to 25 vendors will join you every Saturday with products ranging from organic vegetables to handmade jewelry. If you’re seeking a more hands-on experience with your food, Sun Valley Trout Park is the place to be. As the largest and oldest trout farm in B.C. Sun Valley knows their fish; with both catch-and-release and fee-fishing for pan sized trout, Sun Valley is a great piece of paradise close to downtown. Trout Creek Farm also provides a unique way to spend your day. This u-catch rainbow trout farm provides all the tackle, plus they’ll clean your catch and return them in a plastic bag with ice. Barbecues are also available on-site — and free trout recipes — so just bring your utensils and briquettes. 60
MISSION 2011 • SPIRIT OF THE FRASER
Ideal for motorcycle enthusiasts, classic car clubs, RVs or anyone wanting to slow down, this route, grounded in history, steeped in culture, and drenched in scenery is truly majestic. In April the Scenic 7 group will be launching a new program called the Yellow Banner Art and Culture Tour. Look for the flying yellow banners along the Scenic 7 corridor. Wherever you see a yellow banner, the artist studio, art gallery or cultural attraction is open and welcomes visitors. Visit www.scenic7bc.com for more information.
Medieval theme to annual Mission Children’s Festival Dress up as your favourite character and join in on the fun at Fraser River Heritage Park Mark the beginning of summer with a fun-filled day at Fraser River Heritage Park. On June 12, there will be laughter, dancing, and music here during the Mission Arts Council’s 15th annual Children’s Festival. There will be a medieval theme again this year and children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from that time. Would you be a knight, an archer, a juggler or a medieval princess? Children can use their imagination and make their costumes at the Imagination Market at the park. Join the costume parade where there are prizes for the best outfit. There will also be pony rides, art workstations and other exciting activities to challenge your imagination. Come down with the whole family and spend the day. Have your face painted and visit the bouncy balloon. For more information visit www.missionartscouncil.ca
