Members and guests, ages 50 plus, are invited to compete in several rounds of doubles culminating in a tiebreaker between finalists. The day will help promote tennis, allow Members and their friends to have fun, showcase the West Clubhouse and benefit the MAC Sports Foundation and MAC Charitable Society for Children.

After its recent repainting, the Downtown Clubhouse indoor pool is in great shape and ready for Members to enjoy!

ADULT LAP SWIM HOURS:

Monday-Thursday* | 5 a.m.-9 p.m Friday* | 5 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday | 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday | 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. *Please note: Lap swimming space may be limited during Aqua Fit Classes held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-9:15 a.m.

FALL SQUASH JUNIOR CLINICS

SquashFUTURE STARS (AGES 7-11) Tuesday, 3:45-4:45 p.m. and Saturday, 1-2 p.m. F This is a great opportunity to introduce kids to a high-paced and strategic racquet sport! F Learn the basic technical stroke fundamentals, combined with fun games. F Equipment provided!

HIGH-PERFORMANCE (AGES 11-15)

Monday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 12-1 p.m. F These sessions focus on developing solid technical fundamentals, improving shot consistency, learning effective match tactics and fun games. F It is advised for players to take individual lessons at least once a week to fine-tune technique.

ELITE ACADEMY (AGES 14+)

Tuesday, 4:45-5:45 p.m.; Thursday, 4:30-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 2-3 p.m F These sessions focus on advanced drilling, racquet work, learning how to link shot combinations together, executing match tactics and mental preparation. F It is advised for players to take individual lessons at least once a week to fine-tune technique.

Adult Beginner Squash Clinic

West Fall Fitness Sign-Ups

As of Oct. 1, the West Clubhouse has started accepting sign-ups for fall fitness classes. Members may browse the new class schedules and sign up at mac-stl.org/FitnessSchedule.

TEAM SIMON NAMED CHAMPIONS

The 2022 Summer Open Basketball League at the Downtown Clubhouse concluded on Tuesday, Aug. 9. A total of seven teams competed in the league. The winning team of the Summer Open League was captained by Michael Simon. Team Simon beat the team captained by Brad Rodgers (72-56) in the championship game. Team Rodgers was undefeated and the number one overall seed entering the championship game. Team Simon entered the playoffs as the number two overall seed with a record of 5-2 and finished with an 8-2 overall record on their way to the 2022 Summer Open League Championship.

Jamie Hudson (Team Blood) led the entire league in scoring, averaging 22.7 points per game (PPG). Ross Knutson (Team Bennett) finished second with 21.5 PPG, Dustin Warren (Team J. Simon) finished third with 20.7 PPG, T.C. Slater (Team Slater) finished fourth with 19.5 PPG and Austin Minor (Team Rodgers) finished fifth with 19.0 PPG to round out the top five scorers in the league.

Pickup Basketball and League Subs

Looking to get involved in pickup basketball games? Members organize pickup games multiple times a week throughout the year. To be added to the MAC pickup basketball email list, contact Scott Mattingly at smattingly@

Men’s fall leagues are currently in session, but substitutes (SUBS) are regularly needed. Subbing is a great way to get involved in MAC basketball leagues until the next session begins in January (registration will begin in late November). Contact Scott Mattingly to be placed on the SUB list for the current fall leagues.

As fall soon leads into the busy holiday season, it’s important for Members to develop a plan for achieving their fitness goals. At both Clubhouses, Members can schedule one-on-one training with the extraordinary MAC Fitness Trainers.

For those who don’t like to train alone but prefer a personalized training session, group training is offered as well!

GET AQUA FIT!

Although summer has come and gone, Members’ time at the pool does not need to end! Join the Aqua Fit class at the Downtown Clubhouse every Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. This class highlights aerobic conditioning and muscle toning through low-impact exercises performed with hand paddles, foam noodles and bands. Don Rushing is the shoeshine expert at the Downtown Clubhouse and Melvin Clark at the West Clubhouse. Shoeshines are available at the Downtown Clubhouse Monday through Friday, 5 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Shoeshines are available at the West Clubhouse Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Shoes, boots and golf shoes all need regular cleaning, so see the shoeshine experts today!

MAC GOLFERS in Full Swing!

Congratulations to our 2022 MAC Golf Club Champion, Duffy Dunn (pictured above left). Duffy defeated Brett Benyo 6 and 5. The final scratch match in conjunction with the Net Championship was held on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Glen Echo Country Club. Net winners include Nat Walsh in first (net 65), Norm Toon in second (net 71) and Shannon Lewandoski in third (net 73). The closest to the Pin was (#9) Nat Walsh. The long Drive winner was (#18) Norm Toon.
