MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Zach Clark

CD: Can you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself? ZC: I am a husband, married for over 22 years to Paula, and “Dad” to two young adult sons. I’m also the founder of Development and Leadership Coaching, a non-traditional business to help faith-based leaders grow significant giving—step by step. Beginning with just one Christian school in 2013, our movement of coaches has served over 240 nonprofit organizations across North and Central America.

CD: When did you first join the MAC? Do you remember what drew you here? ZC: I love places that are irreplaceable! There’s nothing like the Missouri Athletic Club anywhere in the country with our blend of history, community, fitness, experiences and fantastic food. You either “get it” immediately or you don’t. I like to think I was one of those who “got it” from the get-go.

CD: Since joining in 2019, can you tell us about how the Club has changed during your time here? ZC: Watching the Club navigate the pandemic said much to me about what we value here as Members: the people, the tradition and working to change for the better. As others panicked and bailed on their clubs, I saw our core of committed folks work to strengthen the Club for the future.

CD: How do you primarily use the Club?

ZC: Our company is entirely virtual, and has been from day one in January 2013. So, the Club primarily serves as my home place for meetings with individuals and small groups. We even safely hosted a gathering of leaders from around the country at the Club in October 2020, when so many couldn’t pull together in-person events. The Club enables me to turn nearly every meeting into a “wow” experience. All this (along with great fitness facilities) helps me and our company grow stronger to impact more lives!

CD: Tell us about your history and current role at Development and Leadership Coaching. ZC: My focus is on helping my family, friends and leaders around me experience the reality that God is still doing impossible things in this old, beat-up world we live in today. As a founder, I spend most of my time listening, learning and doing my best to teach and serve a growing team of coaches and supporting team members.

CD: Why might an MAC Member be interested in your company? ZC: I find that most generous people (which describes our MAC Members) support non-profit organizations that they know could benefit from wise guidance. So, what we do is come alongside a leader who knows they need help. This leader holds a position of influence in a faith-based organization and believes their giving has hit a lid, or they’ve identified a big gap between the present and future for their organization. We help leaders achieve measurable results while working with a coach who becomes a trusted advisor on the team.

CD: What kind of legacy are you hoping to impart on the MAC? ZC: : I only hope that I could live up to the example of so many generations of Members. I’m still learning in this area, but I would love to be generous and share memorable moments that can only be created at the MAC. F
