Lasswade HSC Sports’ colours system
Aim: To promote excellence in sport. Philosophy To award pupils who have displayed outstanding achievement, dedication and commitment as well as to recognise the service and contribution they make to sport. The award of colours should be deemed as the highest accolade in terms of sporting achievement in school or at club level. It should be awarded to pupils who have displayed sporting excellence and commitment in their chosen activity. Pupils eligible to be nominated for colour selection will have to meet at least two of the aspects in the stated criteria. Pupils can be nominated for awards: by teachers, coaches, parents, peers or themselves. To nominate from out with the school; please send any information via e-mail to lasswade_hs@midlothian.gov.uk to tell us of any sporting achievements. Criteria Half colours 1. 2. 3. 4.
Pupils who have been selected for District Squads. Received placing at district competitions. Pupils have set good examples in all areas of the school. Pupils are ambassadors of sport within the school

Service Award is for pupils who have given beyond the normal expectations to a sport over a number of years/seasons, however may not have achieved at the top in terms of performance/ability. Criteria Service 1. Pupils must have displayed commitment to the sport for a minimum of 3 years. 2. Pupils have set good examples in all areas of the school. 3. Pupils have demonstrated high levels of motivation. 4. Pupils have helped to raise the profile of the sport around school 5. Pupils have demonstrated a positive and exemplary attitude towards sport, team members and teachers/coaches at all times. 6. Pupils have assisted sports clubs/activities in school. If pupils meet the required elements, their names will be put forward to the colours/service committee for selection. Presentations Colours and service awards will be presented at the end of each academic year at the school Prize giving ceremony. Winners will be announced through official letters and highlighted on the web page, school newsletters and through the school bulletin/plasma screens. The school colours committee will be made up of: Albert Jaster (Head teacher), Rosemary Mitchell (Depute), George Falconer (PT PE) and Leah Burge (sports coordinator).
