Note from the NE Ventures Newsletter Editor

MEAGAN

O’CONNOR, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN NEWSLETTER EDITOR

As a nutrition entrepreneur, we can sometimes feel as though we’re living on an island in our business because a lot of us no longer work in typical 9-5 jobs. For this reason (and many other reasons) I am so grateful that NE is available for all of us to have the opportunity to connect with likeminded dietitians. One of the perks of being newsletter editor is the chance to collaborate with all the amazing Executive Committee members. It is exciting to hear different viewpoints as this special guide has been created for YOU, one of the Spring Summit attendees. The following program has been lovingly crafted by our Spring Summit committee with the hope that it can energize you with new ways to think and grow as individuals and/ or business owners. I encourage you to take some time to read through this guide to maximize your Summit experience this year.

Meagan O’Connor, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN, is a sports dietitian, private practice owner, and is the team dietitian for USA Weightlifting. In her free time, she enjoys picking up heavy things and then putting them back down (AKA training/competing in powerlifting).

Event Format

We have a full schedule with 13+ CPE sessions, networking events, and an Expo. Each CPE session lasts for 60 minutes and consists of a 30-45 minute educational portion followed by a Q&A session to fill the remainder of the hour.

All live session recordings will be available for viewing within 24 hours of the live session time. Watch them anytime during the Summit or view them for up to three months after the conference until June 9th, 2023.

Take Note

y The activity number for each session can be found in the Event Schedule on page 4. One (1) CPEU is equivalent to a one-hour educational session. y Performance Indicators have been assigned to each educational session. This information is subjective, so select those that best correlate with your Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) needs.

Almost as Good as a Powerball Ticket

PAM CORNELIUS, RD, LDN INCOMING DIRECTOR OF MEETING

Ok, maybe not as good as a winning Powerball ticket, but Spring Summit 2023 has you covered for games and prizes. Engage, interact, have some fun, and you might win one of our fantastic prizes. Here is a quick tutorial on how you can be in it to win it.

Leaderboard Contest: You will find the Leaderboard under “Additional Resources” on the Whova app. Here you will find your current rank, your total accumulated points, and a variety of challenges to earn more points. Earning points is as easy as setting up your profile, posting questions, saying ‘hi’ to other participants, filling out surveys, and many other activities. Two participants with the highest scores at the close of the conference will earn prizes.

Passport Contest: We invite you to visit, learn from, and chat with our exciting exhibitors. You will enter the Exhibitor Hall by clicking on Exhibitors in the left sidebar of Whova for Desktop. Virtually visit the exhibitor booths and collect stamps for your Spring Summit 2023 passport. To earn a stamp, stop by a booth and like, message, and accept their deals or offers (Whova requires all 3). Collect at least 8 stamps to be entered into our passport contest. Three winners will be randomly selected.

Survey Contest: NE wants your feedback! To reward you for providing it, we want to offer you a chance to win a 1-year NE DPG Membership. Surveys will be offered after sessions and at the end of the conference. Each completed survey earns you an entry. The more surveys you complete, the more tickets you earn. One lucky winner will be selected during the closing session; winner must be present to win.

Claiming Your Prize: The lucky winners will select their prize from among five fantastic choices (see page 10) and will be notified via email at the end of the conference. To claim the prize, winners will simply respond to the email notification, and their chosen prize will be delivered.

I look forward to seeing your name at the top of the Leaderboard!

PRO TIP: Want to ask a question for a Q&A but can’t attend the session live? Write your question in the Q&A box associated with that session at any time before the presentation start time. Or click the “Session Q&A” tab (under “Resources” on the desktop version).

All Summit attendees are encouraged to participate in contests. However, NE Executive Committee members, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and those participating on behalf of sponsors or exhibitors are ineligible for prizes.
