Endowment Funds INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE
Investing in the Future of McLaren Northern Michigan What if your gift could provide support for our patients and our community not just in your lifetime, but forever? Endowed funds can. Endowments are permanent funds where the principal is invested for long term growth, and a portion of the earnings is used each year to support a cause that you care about. Building a strong endowment is critical to maintaining the standards of excellence the community has come to know and expect from McLaren Northern Michigan. These lasting gifts provide ongoing funding for a variety of initiatives, from patient assistance, to new technology and facilities, to programs and treatments yet to be discovered.
The Robert and Elizabeth Benson Endowment Fund for Nursing supports nurse education and helps recent graduates successfully transition from students to confident, professional nurses.
Health care is constantly evolving. New treatments, products, and services that produce better outcomes and lead to healthier lives are being introduced at an unprecedented rate. At the same time, access to care and patient assistance needs continue to rise. Because of their permanence, endowments help ensure that McLaren Northern Michigan has the resources to invest in education for our workforce, adopt innovation, ensure access to services, and continue the compassionate approach to care for which we are known. Endowment funds can also be established to support the areas of greatest need as we deliver care in the future.
You can make a lasting impact on…
Access to Care Ensure that all patients have access to the care that they need and deserve.
Education Build on existing efforts and take staff education to the next level. Provide increased access to training and educational opportunities as well as the tools and support necessary to build and sustain a strong workforce.
Innovation Support innovative ideas, new approaches to care, technology, and equipment that improve patient care and outcomes.
Compassion Invest in our approach to caring for patients—treating them as if they are members of our family, going the extra mile, and paying attention to the details that can transform a patient’s experience.
Area of Greatest Need Allow us the flexibility to address our communities most pressing health care needs each year.
How does it work? With a minimum gift of $50,000, you can establish a named endowment fund. Options are available to allow you to build your fund over time, or you can establish a fund through an estate gift (see following pages). The use and purpose of your gift is documented in a gift agreement. Funds are invested in a diversified portfolio with the goal of increasing value over time.
Each year, earnings from endowed funds are used to fund the programs and services you care about as defined in the gift agreement. You or a designee are updated annually on the status of their endowment, including the amount distributed to the designated program area and the impact that your gift has made.
