REMOVING THE JUNK FROM THE COMMUNITY TRUNK ~In A World Filled With Hate - We must Emulate L.O.V.E.~ The purpose of this magazine is to provide the audience with specialized information from a unique community; dedicated to and built upon the Love and Light of Michael Jackson as well as some others who are making a difference. We bring you this material by way of groups and projects inspired by Michael Jackson, other artists and news sources.
This magazine will be dedicated to those projects with undertakings that build up the community; and actually possess the healing and light properties needed to help change a world filled with darkness and a community that has become divided because of different views. We wish to provide the Community Trunk with information about new and delightful support projects. There has been too much “Junk” in the old trunk and it is time we start anew by peeling away the old and rotted garbage and building a new community. Some old things we should keep because they are precious and should be preserved. We hope you will be a part of the solution and not the problem. There should be no room for old junk in a new trunk. The things of no value has been thrown away to make room for the new. We wish to be an avenue to the beautiful things and truth going forward by sharing those things in this magazine when possible. We want to appeal to the rooted fans as well as the innovative.

WRGO Magazine Editorial WHERE IS THE LOVE! Michael Jackson had such a radiant diversity of love, and humbleness, along with an amazing charitable spirit that lead him to help all artists in their music careers, regardless of the fact that he was the world’s top entertainer. As we know Michael also, gave to the poor, needy and underprivileged children as well as adults in the entertainment world. Michael’s love spoke of helping others in need. Michael helped everyone he came in contact with and if he saw a need, he was there to give. • Michael didn’t have AIDS, but he gave to (The AIDS Project) • Michael didn’t have CANCER, but he gave to (The American Cancer Society) • Michael could have financially afforded to go to any college of his choice, but he gave to (The United Negro College Fund) • He gave for children’s dreams and wishes to come true And the list goes on and on, of his “Love of Support and Kindness to all”. Much of his giving, we knew nothing about until after his death because that’s who he was. He didn’t proclaim his deeds of love on mountain tops for all to see and hear. But quietly continued to share all that he had. Many of these deeds came to surface after his death. Michael himself was a Tree of Love, with branches that spread around the world helping others and showing love. His love was a SELF-LESS Love. But it didn’t stop there. Michael planted the seeds of Love in the hearts of his fans, to spread in unimaginable ways to extend our branches out to help all. So what are we doing with it? In 2009, Michael’s fans started out strong to continue his legacy, while fighting for his justice, but what happened? We have let jealousy, greed, selfishness, a strong sense of hatred, backbiting and unresolved bad feelings creep into the community of the MJ Fanmily.
Many have become independent charitable organizations in the name of Michael Jackson, and instead of welcoming others to work toward the goal are separating and causing divisions among his fans. This was “not” Michael’s intention and I could only imagine how upset he would feel about such a distorted show of Love. We need to come together to bring the love back to the MJ Fan Community. As Michael Jackson fans, we have established many different organizations and groups that are branches of “The Tree of Love”. Each and every organization or group is needed and are branches of that tree. However, in order to make the branches extend further and accomplish the goal of love around the world, we have to become as ONE. We have to stop the bickering, the jealousy, the negative attitudes, the backbiting, the selfish goals, towards one another and work together as one. We have to stop going around hurting each one another. 7
His fans have many wonderful causes, but we are all branches of the main “Tree of Love”. Therefore as of today we need to reach out to one another in love to help one another. No one “Cause” or “Organization” working on promoting the charitable Love that Michael taught should be independent from the rest. In order to succeed, we have to put all pettiness and bad feelings towards one another behind us and start loving each other again, and show respect to one another like we were doing in 2009. No one branch is better than the other, but ALL ARE NEEDED to fulfill his dream of spreading Love and Charity around the world. In order for any of us to succeed. WE have ONE question? "Can we find a way to renew the LOVE we had for one another on June 25, 2009" and where do we start? ~ Concerned Fans~

Brooklyn Artist David Hollier's recent return to London in September 2015 saw him present 2 new artworks, Amy Johnson and Michael Jackson. In Hollier's calligraphy pop art style the MJ artwork consisted of the lyrics to 'They Don't Care About Us' and the works viewed from a distance portrays a young Michael's face.

New artwork of Michael greeting visitors with open arms on the main steps of favella Santa Marta, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the area where Michael recorded the short film 'They Don't Care About Us'. Santa Marta was chosen for the artwork in an initiative by the environmental project "All the color for you' and 'PintouRio450' and the MJ artwork was voted for by the residents of Santa Marta and is part of the calendar of events of the anniversary of 450 years of the city. The artwork was completed by artists John Mark Stain, Leonardt Lauenstein and Felipe Brito under the collective SerHurbano in August 2015.

To appreciate this ingenious piece of street artwork of a young MJ you have to view this short video https://instagram.com/p/6u4N_kO1DE/?taken-at=305151560 The artwork was painted on the gate of an MJ fan by an artist friend in 2010 and is located on the Avenida El Cerro, near Pedro de Valdivia, in Santiago Chile. The artwork is curious in that it is only visible from the side and cars and passers by are seen to pass by and then back up to view the 'magic'. It has also become a tourist stop as visitors, including a visiting Swedish Rugby Team, stopped and asked for permission to take photos with the artwork.

On the wall in Mumbai, India ~ "Undecided and looking for a theme to paint, Hemal Gala looked in his pocket for inspiration and found a sticker of Michael Jackson. “I’m a big fan,’’ he said, pointing to his sketch of a moonwalking Jackson. Helping Gala were British tourists Nick Wade and Natalie Hough who helped Gala paint his tribute to Michael, see Pics 1 and 2. Pic 3 another artist pays tribute to the 'King of Pop' on the wall in Mumbai and 2 pics of the completed mural. Tulsi Pipe Road, in Mumbai is one of the city’s longest walls and in 2009, as an alternative to repainting the walls, the public were invited to go along and paint individual sections of the 2.7 km long wall, in a weekend project Initiated and organised by the BMC [Clean up Movement] and The Wall Project, a group of Mumbai graffiti artists. Street children, doodlers, calligraphists, office-goers, tourists, expats, college students and people from the neighbouring buildings showed up to take part in the project and were supplied with spray cans, paint, chalk sticks, rollers. gloves etc., to create their murals. Drinking water and chemical toilets were also at hand during the 2 day event. For more information and news on this project see link ~ http://ravishekhar-mumbai.blogspot.co.uk/…/the% 20great%20wa…

Wall of artwork formed a 2009 tribute to Michael on a wall located in the White Street Car Park, in Cork, Ireland. The two MJ pieces are joined by the name tag of artist DEX. The artwork appeared in the newspaper 'Irish Examiner' in June 2009. Cork is a city located in the South-West Region of Ireland and is the second largest city on the island.
The city is built on the River Lee which divides into two channels. The city centre is located on the island created by the channels. At the eastern end of the city centre where the channels re-converge, quays and docks along the river banks lead to Lough Mahon and Cork Harbour, which is one of the world's largest natural harbours.

The new MJ mural at The Graf Lab at 1038 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles, California is now completed and was unveiled on the 1st August 2015. ~ see previous 2 and next photo The artwork was completed by New Zealand artist Owen Dippie and the New Zealand flag representing Owen's home town was hung alongside a Mexican and US flag prior to the unveiling. In May 2014 Owen, to celebrate the release of theXSCAPE album donated his time, 8 hours, to paint a giant portrait of Michael. Once completed, the portrait was then donated to CanTeen, a NZ organisation to support, develop and empower young people living with cancer - "so that current members and future generations, can enjoy the magic and influence of one of the greatest artists that ever lived". I’m preparing for a monumental journey and this time around I'm doing it as the captain of my on all women's team, Team ChainChicks! You and I both know, It’s not going to be easy, but it will be another glorious seven days. And I need your help to make it possible. June 5th - June12th I will ride my bike for the 3rd time, 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles to support the lifesaving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, in the fight to end HIV/AIDS. Preparing for this journey will require countless hours of training and preparation, and I’ve committed my time to make sure that I’m ready. This year, I’ve also committed to raising $10,000 before I ride. For this, I need you to join me in my commitment to help end HIV/AIDS. This amount goes beyond the minimum required to ride, because I feel the need to do everything I can to help end this disease. $10,000 will make a world of difference for the organizations benefitted by this ride, and the clients they serve. So, I’m asking you to donate as generously as you possibly can, so that I am to lead the way for my awesome team. To the people who rely on these services to survive, every dollar counts, and every dollar brings me one step closer to hitting my goal and another step close to hitting the team goal of $50,000. Thank you for making this personal goal a reality for me and for being the support that I need to cross the finish line on June 12th. Together, we will make a difference. Blessings, Db

Artist Nikos Rutkowski fashions cool HighBall Halloween entrance For
eight years, the High Ball costume extravaganza has celebrated Halloween in an unusual fashion. The party is described less with adjectives such as scary, bloody and gory and morewith whimsical, fashionable and supernatural. Artist Nikos Rutkowski has worked for haunted houses in the past, but his taste in entertainment doesn’t necessarily gravitate toward blood and guts; for this reason, he has enjoyed attending HighBall. This year, he designed a carnival-style entrance that will be located on N. High Street at Goodale Street. His piece — a large skull with the mouth serving as an entrance for attendees — might seem frightening, but it’s meant to be enticing. The Friday night theme is Michael Jackson, and people should come dressed in costumes reminiscent of the “King of Pop.” Who’s Bad: the Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band will perform classic hits.

BOOKS Copiously researched and documented, Hit Men is the highly controversial portrait of the pop music industry in all its wild, ruthless glory: the insatiable greed and ambition; the enormous egos; the fierce struggles for profits and power; the vendettas, rivalries, shakedowns, and payoffs. Chronicling the evolution of America's largest music labels from the Tin Pan Alley days to the present day, Fredric Dannen examines in depth the often venal, sometimes illegal dealings among the assorted hustlers and kingpins who rule over this multi-billion-dollar business.
Hit Men: Power Brokers and Fast Money Inside the Music Business Paperback – July 2, 1991 by Fredric Dannen (Author)
Amy, My Daughter Paperback – June 25, 2013 by Mitch Winehouse (Author) On July 23, 2011, Amy Winehouse's family, friends, and fans around the world mourned the tragedy that this remarkable, talented, and extraordinarily generous young woman was now gone. In this intimate and tender account, her father and confidant, Mitch Winehouse, offers an inside view of Amy's life. Sifting fact from fiction, he details the events and the people that shaped her youth, sharing how she honed her distinctive sound, created her unforgettable look, and channeled her own life into hits such as "You Know I'm No Good," "Rehab," and "Back to Black." Mitch holds nothing back about Amy's addiction to drugs and alcohol, mixing the painful with the poignant as he describes the realities of her dependencies and the toll they took on the family and friends who refused to give up on her. He also exposes the years of behind-the-scenes drama that consumed his life and explains how, for those who knew Amy in her last months, the greatest tragedy of all was that she died just when she finally appeared to be conquering her demons. Amy, My Daughter is an emotional journey into music, addiction, and the unbreakable bond between a daughter and her father.

LETS GIVE HIM WHAT HES ASKED FOR. LETS NOT BUY HIS CLOTHES!
LETS PUT HIM IN A FINANCIAL STATE WHERE HE HIMSELF WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE RIDICULOUS
PRICES HE PUTS ON HIS CLOTHES.
I can not begin to count the number of times I’ve read or heard someone talk about how Tommy Hilfiger was upset about black people buying his brand of clothes. Personally, I’ve never purchased any of his brand of clothes, but of course my children loved them. I can tell you that I was EXTREMELY offended and hoped that the entire black race never purchased anything with his name on it again. Until today I have always believed that story and I’m sure many others still believe it. Why? Because we did NOT research or try to find out whether it was a rumor or myth. Guess what, there is no truth to this old rumor. Let’s see what the editor from the Urban Myths site found out concerning this old lie.

The Tommy Hilfiger Oprah Myth
before today?
Tommy: Unfortunately, not.
The Tommy Hilfiger is a racist hoax e-mail has been circulating for over 15 years--we originally received it in the late 1990s, and it is among the original memes on the Internet that used a celebrity name to spread a vicious rumor. We spoke with Tommy's lead counsel back then who told me that the firm had been battling the rumor for years and had even called in the FBI to find out who started it. The S.O.S. Band 49
The S.O.S. Band (sometimes written SOS Band; abbreviation for Sounds Of Success) is an American R&B and electro-funk group who gained fame in the 1980s. They are best known for the songs "Take Your Time (Do It Right)," "Just Be Good to Me," "Tell Me If You Still Care," and "The Finest." The band was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. The original group members included Willie "Sonny" Killebrew (saxophone), Billy Ellis (flute), Jason "T.C." Bryant (keyboards), Bruno Speight (guitar), John Simpson (bass), James Earl Jones III (drums), and Mary Davis (lead vocals, keyboards).[1][2] It was originally known as Santa Monica,[3] but later changed its name to The S.O.S. Band- an acronym for Sounds of Success.[4][5][6] After listening to its demo and being impressed with their sound,Tabu Records founder Clarence Avant signed the group to its first recording contract.[7] In 1980, the group released its first hit single, "Take Your Time (Do It Right)", which was certified platinum and sold over 2 million copies. Its debut album, S.O.S., went gold and sold over 800,000 copies. Trumpeter, vocalist, and percussionist Abdul Ra'oof joined the band while it was on a world tour.[8] In 1983, the band joined forces with then-new production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who went on to craft a string of R&B hits for the group, which included "Just Be Good to Me," "High Hopes," "Tell Me If You Still Care," "Borrowed Love," "No One's Gonna Love You," "Just the Way You Like It," and "The Finest."[9]

Lead vocalist Mary Davis left the group in 1987 to pursue a solo career, and was replaced by Chandra Currelley beginning with the band's 1989 Diamonds in the Raw album.[10][11] They recorded another album with Currelley - 1991's One of Many Nights, which featured a few songs with a guest appearance from a then-unknown Kurupt.[12] More recently, Currelley has been active as an actress and vocalist in Tyler Perry plays and films. [13] When Davis’s solo career was not as successful as she hoped, she reunited with the band in 1994. Since then, Davis spilt from the remaining members of The S.O.S. Band, with Davis and Speight both touring using the band's name with their versions of the current lineup.[14] In 2013, The S.O.S. Band's entire Tabu Records catalog was reissued, as Tabu licensed their brand and trademark to British-based record label Demon Music Group.[15] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_S.O.S._Band https://www.facebook.com/The-Real-SOS-Band-126086687491/

MUSIC: MECHANICAL LICENSE Since the passing of Michael Jackson over six years ago many enthusiasts, in our exploration for more information about him, have learned about the music a lot about the music industry and the many aspects of it. I’ve ran across many articles with reference to his music catalogs and discussions about the “Mechanical Rights and License” to his music/songs.
THE BASICS OF MECHANICAL LICENSING FROM HARRY FOX By: Michael Simon A “mechanical license” may sound like it has nothing to do with music, but it’s very important for both songwriters and recording artists. As an artist, it’s critical when you record any song you don’t control completely, and for a songwriter, it’s an important source of revenue.
First, I needed to understand what all this meant in terms of who had the rights to what and just what all this had to do with Michael’s music. Of course, I understood it all revolved around the royalties the record label or the artist was to receive, but I also knew there had to be more.
The term dates back to the player piano days. When the U.S. Copyright Act was enacted in 1909, it recognized two distinct rights related to a song: a performance right and a mechanical reproduction right.
With that in mind I decided to use this section of the magazine to share information I find through the researching of different sites familiar with mechanical rights, mechanical license, copyrights, licenses, synchronization and the like. It can become very confusing so I will publish a little bit each month for my understanding and to help someone else who may be interested in learning.
Performance rights are, as they sound, the right to publicly play the song, which includes concerts, radio, and certain kinds of TV broadcasts. The mechanical right covers the right to mechanically “fix” the song onto a recording medium and reproduce it, such as on a CD or a digital download. Licenses are required for these uses, which generate royalties for the music publisher and songwriter.
Before any information is published on “Mechanical License” I thought it best to start with the basics of “Mechanical Licensing” which I obtained from information published by Michael Simon, the General Counsel at The Harry Fox Agency (HFA).
ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC are the three performing rights organizations in the U.S., and a publisher will engage the services of one of these organizations to handle the licensing and income collection for that right. Mechanical rights are handled a bit differently, and this article will focus on those rights and how they are handled in the U.S.
For me to understand the fundamentals of this subject I need to know the meaning of “mechanical” which is defined as: working or produced by machines or machinery.
First, we’ll look at mechanicals from the recording artist perspective. Basically, if you’re recording a song you do not completely control (meaning that if you wrote the song, you have 52
assigned the rights to a publisher or it is a song written by someone else), you need to obtain a mechanical license or you will be in violation of copyright law. A reputable CD replicator will not duplicate your recording without one as they could also face stiff penalties.
the appropriate mechanical license and pay the full royalty rate, you cannot be prevented from recording the song (so long as it is not the first time the song has ever been recorded and distributed). As a songwriter, the royalty part is probably what’s most interesting to you. If you have signed with a music publisher, how your mechanical licensing and royalties will be handled will probably be delineated in your contract. If you have not assigned your publishing rights yet, you’ll need to handle any mechanical license requests that come your way.
There are three ways to obtain a mechanical license: directly from the music publisher, through a licensing agent such as The Harry Fox Agency (HFA), or you can obtain a compulsory license as described in § 115 of the U.S. Copyright Act. The royalty that is paid for the recording is based on the length and the number of reproductions of the song. Under current U.S. copyright law, the mechanical royalty rate is 9.1¢ for a composition five minutes or less in length, or 1.75¢ per minute for songs over five minutes, rounded up to the nearest whole minute. This is then multiplied by the number of copies of the recording that are manufactured. So, for example, for 500 copies of a recording of a composition that is 5 minutes and 30 seconds long, the math would be: 6 x $ 0.0175 = 0.105 x 500 = $52.50.
One way to do this is to affiliate with a mechanical licensing agent such as HFA. You then register your song catalog with them, and you can direct any inquiries to the agent. HFA requires that licensees pay royalties on a quarterly basis. The HFA mechanical license also gives the company the right to audit the licensee to make sure the payments true up to the actual quantity distributed. HFA also has reciprocal agreements with similar agents around the world, so it can handle your royalty collections on a global basis. For this service, HFA takes a commission on the royalties it pays out to you. However, some of its licensing services are provided on a commission -free basis.
The reason mechanical licenses are so important to a recording artist? Aside from making sure the music publisher, and ultimately the songwriter, gets paid for the use of a song, the penalties for copyright infringement can be quite severe. Willful copyright infringement can carry statutory damages of up to $150,000 for every work infringed.
It’s important to note that “mechanical” does not just mean CDs and other physical products. A mechanical license is required for many digital uses – permanent downloads, limited downloads, on-demand streams, ringtones, ring backs, and more. Right now, only permanent downloads fall under the current statutory royalty rate.
An important aside: While copyright law contains the concept of “fair use,” this is much more limited under copyright law than most people realize. Fair Use is generally considered to apply to purposes such as the use of excerpts for criticism, news reporting, teaching and research. You still need to obtain a mechanical license if you are, for instance, making a recording for charity. The flip side of this is that if you obtain
In addition, both recording artists and songwriters should be aware of something called a “controlled composition clause,” which is common in many recording artist contracts. It requires the artist to secure lower rates from publishers on certain songs that are either 53
written or indirectly “controlled” by the artist. The controlled composition clause usually reduces the per-song royalty payable on these compositions as well as the label’s total mechanical royalty obligation for the album as a whole. These provisions can vary in complexity but are usually based on a percentage reduction of the statutory rate. A common controlled rate clause provides that controlled compositions are licensed at 75% of the statutory rate (a “three-quarter rate”) and that the label is only required to pay mechanicals on a maximum of 10 songs (in general known as the “Album Cap” and in this example known as a “10 Cap”). So if the artist chooses to have 12 songs on the album, the mechanicals are then divided over 12 songs instead of 10. If non-controlled songs (such as covers) are included on the album, another layer of complexity is added. In this case, the non-controlled songs can generate full statutory royalties and the aggregate amount of those full statutory royalties would be deducted from the aggregate amount allocated to the controlled rate songs. So, for example, say an artist’s controlled composition clause calls for a three-quarter rate and a 10 cap. They then record an album of 12 songs, with 10 controlled and 2 non-controlled songs. The mechanical royalty rate would be calculated as follows: Maximum Album Rate: 10 (the Album Cap) x 75% (the controlled rate) x $0.091 (the statutory rate) = $0.6825 Less the 2 non-controlled songs at full statutory rate: 2 x $0.091 = ($0.182) The result is $0.5005 for the total mechanical royalty for the 10 controlled songs. This means the actual royalty for each of those songs is $0.05005 ($0.5005 divided by 10). This is a 45% reduction from the statutory rate. You need to be particularly aware of controlled composition clauses if you are a co-writer for a singer-songwriter, as you may find yourself asked to accept the reduced rate your partner agreed to in their contract. This can obviously create some friction between you and your partner, so this is something you should agree upon before the song is recorded, and preferably, before you start writing together. Songwriters and performing artists need to realize that in regards to mechanical rights, they represent two sides of the same coin. Without the songwriter, the performing artist wouldn’t have the great material; and without the performing artist, the song has no opportunity to create revenue for the songwriter. The more you can educate yourself about mechanical licensing and related rights, the fewer nasty surprises can come up in your music career. Hey Fellow Travelers! Just so super excited about how one of our latest videos turned out that I needed to post. We had the incredible honor of performing with some of the best musicians in the industry today. Robbie Robinson (from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons) on keyboards, Russ McKinnon (currently touring with Barri Manilow) on drums, Ric Firrabracci (currently touring with Blood, Sweat and Tears) on bass, and Voyce McGinley on percussion. We can't express how incredible it is to play with a band, especially when it includes the most extraordinary talented players. Listen to our live rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon", which we had an absolute blast playing! Just a quick note, please excuse the cut halfway through the video, we were experiencing some technical difficulties with the sound, but everything was mended in record time and the video still came out really great. And please enjoy how Scotty literally slayed that guitar solo near the end, lol! Seriously. Sometimes it's incredible...performing beside my not-so-little brother on stage, watching him soar and seeing the amazing musician and artist that he's become. It truly amazes me. We hope ya'll enjoy! Love you guys tons and tons ~Nicole & Scotty~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGZx5-5M924 56

Help Little Dante by Tess Gallagher GoFundMe Please help and share. I have been teaching for 30 years and have seen many horrible situations that children are thrust into. Children come to school everyday with trauma and hunger. This is another one of those horrible situations. Dante has severe vision problems and is unable to speak due to apraxia of speech...a brain disorder. His family is now homeless due to unforeseen circumstances. The staff at my elementary school have set up this Go Fund Me page so we can help this little guy and his family. Any amount would be very much appreciated. Thank you! 69
YOU ARE SPECIAL by Max Lucado
(This story helps children and adults realize they shouldn't automatically accept other people's negative comments and assessments of them. Do your best and be proud of yourself. In the entire world, there has never been another person like you. You are rare. – Ralph Courtney, Executive Director)
The Wemmicks were small wooden people. Each of the wooden people was carved by a woodworker named Eli. His workshop sat on a hill overlooking their village. Every Wemmick was different. Some had big noses, others had large eyes. Some were tall and others were short. Some wore hats, others wore coats. But all were made by the same carver and all lived in the village. And all day, every day, the Wemmicks did the same thing: They gave each other stickers. Each Wemmick had a box of golden star stickers and a box of gray dot stickers. Up and down the streets all over the city, people could be seen sticking stars or dots on one another.
had so many gray dots that some people would come up and give him one without reason. "He deserves lots of dots," the wooden people would agree with one another. "He's not a good wooden person."
After a while Punchinello believed them. "I'm not a good Wemmick," he would say. The few times he went outside, he hung around other Wemmicks who had a lot of dots. He felt better around them. One day he met a Wemmick who was unlike any he'd ever met. She had no dots or stars. She was just wooden. Her name was Lucia. It wasn't that people didn't try to give her stickers; it's just that the stickers didn't stick. Some admired Lucia for having no dots, so they would run up and give her a star. But it would fall off. Some would look down on her for having no stars, so they would give her a dot. But it wouldn't stay either. “That's the way I want to be,” thought Punchinello. “I don't want anyone's marks.” So he asked the stickerless Wemmick how she did it.
The pretty ones, those with smooth wood and fine paint, always got stars. But if the wood was rough or the paint chipped, the Wemmicks gave dots. The talented ones got stars, too. Some could lift big sticks high above their heads or jump over tall boxes. Still others knew big words or could sing very pretty songs. Everyone gave them stars. Some Wemmicks had stars all over them! Every time they got a star it made them feel so good that they did something else and got another star. Others, though, could do little. They got dots.
"It's easy," Lucia replied. "Every day I go see Eli." "Eli?" "Yes, Eli. The woodcarver. I sit in the workshop with him."
Punchinello was one of these. He tried to jump high like the others, but he always fell. And when he fell, the others would gather around and give him dots.
"Why?" "Why don't you find out for yourself? Go up the hill. He's there."
Sometimes when he fell, it would scar his wood, so the people would give him more dots. He would try to explain why he fell and say something silly, and the Wemmicks would give him more dots. After a while he had so many dots that he didn't want to go outside. He was afraid he would do something dumb such as forget his hat or step in the water, and then people would give him another dot. In fact, he
And with that the Wemmick with no marks turned and skipped away. "But he won't want to see me!" Punchinello cried out. Lucia didn't hear. So Punchinello went home. He sat near a window and watched the wooden people as they scurried around giving each other stars and dots. "It's not right," he muttered to himself. And he resolved to go see Eli. He walked up 70
the narrow path to the top of the hill and stepped into the big shop. His wooden eyes widened at the size of everything. The stool was as tall as he was. He had to stretch on his tiptoes to see the top of the workbench. A hammer was as long as his arm. Punchinello swallowed hard. "I'm not staying here!" and he turned to leave. Then he heard his name.
"Because she has decided that what I think is more important than what they think. The stickers only stick if you let them."
"Punchinello?" The voice was deep and strong. Punchinello stopped. "Punchinello! How good to see you. Come and let me have a look at you."
"I'm not sure I understand."
"What?" "The stickers only stick if they matter to you. The more you trust my love, the less you care about the stickers."
"Of course I do. I made you." Eli stooped down and picked him up and set him on the bench.
"You will, but it will take time. You've got a lot of marks. For now, just come to see me every day and let me remind you how much I care." Eli lifted Punchinello off the bench and set him on the ground. "Remember," Eli said as the Wemmick walked out the door. "You are special because I made you. And I don't make mistakes."
"Hmm," the maker spoke thoughtfully as he inspected the gray circles. "Looks like you've been given some bad marks."
Punchinello didn't stop, but in his heart he thought, "I think he really means it." And when he did, a dot fell to the ground.
"I didn't mean to, Eli. I really tried hard."
May all your dots fall silently to the ground, for if given by man, they matter only to other men. When given the choice, pass out stars, drop the dots in the trash.
Punchinello turned slowly and looked at the large bearded craftsman. "You know my name?" the little Wemmick asked.
"Oh, you don't have to defend yourself to me, child. I don't care what the other Wemmicks think."
"You don't?"
- Max Lucado
“No, and you shouldn't either. Who are they to give stars or dots? They're Wemmicks just like you. What they think doesn't matter, Punchinello. All that matters is what I think. And I think you are pretty special."
You can purchase this wonderful story, beautifully illustrated, at www.amazon.com.
Punchinello laughed. "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump. My paint is peeling. Why do I matter to you?" Eli looked at Punchinello, put his hands on those small wooden shoulders, and spoke very slowly. "Because you're mine. That's why you matter to me." Punchinello had never had anyone look at him like this - much less his maker. He didn't know what to say. "Every day I've been hoping you'd come," Eli explained. "I came because I met someone who had no marks." "I know. She told me about you." "Why don't the stickers stay on her?" 71

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in the United States that arranges experiences to children with life-threatening medical conditions. In order to qualify for a wish, the child must be between the ages of 3 to 17 at the time of referral. It is the child's physician that ultimately decides if a child is eligible. Children who may be eligible to receive a wish can be referred by one of the following three sources: Medical professionals treating the child A parent or legal guardian The potential wish child To refer a child, the appropriate referral source can use Make-A-Wish’s online inquiry form or contact the Make-A-Wish chapter closest to them. All medical information is considered confidential and is not discussed with outside parties unless it is required for the wish and the child’s parent(s) or guardians have given their consent. A child with a life-threatening medical condition who has reached the age of 2½ and is under the age of 18 at the time of referral, is potentially eligible for a wish. After a child is referred, the child’s treating physician must determine whether the child is medically eligible for a wish, based on the medical criteria established by Make-A-Wish. In addition, a child cannot have received a wish from another wish-granting organization. Each Make-A-Wish chapter follows specific policies and guidelines for granting a child’s wish. Make-A-Wish works closely with the wish child’s physician and family to determine the most appropriate time to grant the wish, keeping in mind the child’s treatment protocol or other concerns. Most wish requests fall into five categories: I wish to go, I wish to be, I wish to meet, I wish to have, or I wish to give. THEIR MISSION Make-A-Wish serves a unique, and vital, role in helping strengthen and empower children battling lifethreatening medical conditions. The national headquarters and founding chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation are in Phoenix, Arizona. The organization grants wishes through its 61 chapters located throughout the US. Make-A-Wish also operates in 45 other countries around the world through 38 affiliate offices. The President and CEO of Make-A-Wish America is David A. Williams. Professional wrestler John Cena holds the title for the most wishes granted by a single individual, with over 500 wishes. Coming in second with wish granting is Justin Bieber. The third top donor is the largest National Women's Collegiate Fraternity Chi Omega, which has raised over $13 million for Make-A-Wish since 2001. Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish®vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. In the United States and its territories, on average, a wish is granted every 37 minutes. We believe a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us and inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids they serve. (Wiki) 73
HOW IT ALL STARTED Chris' Wish During a long nighttime stakeout kneeling in some desert weeds in the spring of 1980, U.S. Customs Agent Tommy Austin tells Arizona Department of Public Safety Officer Ron Cox his problem. His wife’s friend Linda has a small son named Chris Greicius who is probably going to die of leukemia. The seven-year-old boy yearns to be a police officer “to catch bad guys” with Austin. Running into bureaucratic hesitation at Customs, Austin asks Cox if maybe DPS can do something. “I’ll rent a helicopter myself if I have to,” Austin says. Cox takes the request to DPS spokesman Allan Schmidt, who asks DPS Director Ralph Milstead. He gives Schmidt carte blanche to grant Chris’ wish. Soon Austin receives a call from Chris’ mom saying that she doesn’t think he can hang on much longer.
“None of us had any idea what we were getting into at the time,” Schmidt will recall 30 years later. He draws other people in: Officer Jim Eaves will bring his patrol car, and Officer Frank Shankwitz his motorcycle, to meet the DPS helicopter flying Chris to headquarters. On April 29, Chris comes from Scottsdale Memorial Hospital to the empty lot by DPS at Lewis and 19th Avenue. There he and his parents are given a tour. That’s when Lt. Col. Dick Schaefer gives the boy a “Smokey Bear” hat and one of his own old badges, and Chris becomes Arizona’s first and only honorary DPS officer.
But when they return the next day to present the wings to Chris, he’s gone back into the hospital. With his DPS gifts all around him, clutching his new wings, Chris gives a last smile for the men who have done so much for him in such a short time. He passes May 3.
Everyone who meets the beaming boy chewing bubble gum wants to help. At the end of the day, some of those involved meet in a spontaneous group hug and realize they don’t want the day to be the end of it. They also know they don’t have much time.
“He was only seven years, 269 days old when he died. But he taught me about being a man. Even though he was only a boy. I can tell you that because of meeting Chris, I am an entirely different man. Ron Two of them, Cox and Eaves, go to John’s Uniforms, Cox said the same thing. He said he didn’t the business that makes all DPS uniforms, and order fear death anymore, because he knew one Chris’ size. Employees work all night to have it Chris would be there waiting for him.” ready the next day. A group of officers take the uniform to his house, where Shankwitz sets up cones for Chris to steer his battery-powered motorcycle through to qualify for a motorcycle officer’s wings.

Some outlets, (during 2003 MJ allegations) speculated that Michael Jackson was the founder of the Make a wish Foundation but it’s not true. Michael Jackson didn't start the organization but was involved since the ’90’s with them opening his home to anyone expressed to see it. Since 1995, the Foundation has coordinated Neverlandrelated group wish experiences for children and their families to enjoy a fun day and it cost to Michael Jackson over one million dollars per month in expenses. 1992 Michael Jackson Greets Make-AWish Foundation's David Sonnet at Neverland https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=u4ItctDPxWE

Neverland Valley Ranch
The Last Charity Special All Day organized by Michael Jackson at his Neverland Valley Ranch for “Make a Wish, was a carnival-style Neverland Ranch estate of 500 guests. The invitation-only event, set for Sept. 13th, was a one-time-only gathering, complete with dinner, magicians, games and a tractor-trailer full of stuffed animals. Make-A-Wish Foundation was one of the beneficiaries of the donation. Here the pictures of the invitation:

IT HAPPENED TO ME: Make-A-Wish Sent Me To Neverland Where I Met Michael Jackson. I became obsessed with Michael Jackson when I was 11. I heard “You Are Not Alone” on the radio and melodic magic happened in my ears. It’s a cliché, but I

Make-A-Wish Wisconsin granted its first wish to 11-year-old Catina, a girl with an inoperable brain tumor that left her easily tired and, at times, wheelchair-bound. But there was no sign of her illness during her wish trip to New Jersey to see her idol, Michael Jackson. In 1984, Jackson was the biggest star in the world and gaining access to the sold-out "Victory" tour that reunited him with the Jackson 5 was nearly impossible. Thanks to the efforts of a small group of dedicated Wisconsin volunteers, Catina's wish was granted. Read more http://www.wisconsin.wish.org. Here we have another testimony of a little Girl (now 31) who saw his Michael jackson wish come true:
was getting sicker by then. I was born with cystic fibrosis (a genetic lung disease), and he was a distraction from my ill world. His hypnotic voice burned in my brain instead of the IV alarms that were going off, or the pulsating oxygen during hospital stays, not to mention the medical jargon always in the background of my life. He took me out of my world. When I was 16 and my doctors suggested I be listed for a double lung transplant, I dove deeper into the Michael Jackson fandom. I immersed myself in everything MJ. I had all his music, every movie, and posters everywhere. I even saved
money
to
buy
VHS
tapes
of
his
rare
performances from eBay (this was before YouTube!). I
engrossed myself in the way he moved, the rhythmic beats of his songs, the black loafers adorning his feet, the white socks that highlighted his steps, the sparkly glove that glittered in the air—anything there was to see, hear or know about him I had covered. I knew his song lyrics verbatim, I could recite every interview, and I could recall any fact. But it was more than the music that drew me in deep.
Now, as a
31-year-old adult, I know how crazy this sounds, but something about him was
fascinating,
even
magnetic to me. To continue to read the blog click here: http://www.xojane.com/ithappened-to-me/make-awish-michael-jackson 77
Even while passed away Michael remains a dream for many children . Here another recent wish realized: I WISH TO HAVE A MICHAEL JACKSON THEMED PARTY
Marlon , 4 Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia I wish to have a Michael Jackson Themed Party Marlon started fighting leukemia when most children are just getting comfortable walking. At 16 months old, he was spending far too much time on the oncology floor of UCSF Benioff
Children’s Hospital Oakland. Not being able to understand what he was going through was hard on his upbeat personality, but music helped him cope. And whenever he had the chance to leave his room, he took it. The nurses would always know he was coming because he would have his mom’s phone tucked into the side of his diaper, with Michael Jackson playing. His mom would push his IV pole around while Marlon danced.
Marlon is now just 4 years old, but his love of Michael Jackson has grown, if anything. He is “very passionate” about his favorite singer. “He was so adorable imitating MJ’s moves and you could tell he absolutely loves his music” says his wish grantor, Jan Hammond, after meeting him during his wish interview. He even offered her the chance to play the Michael Jackson Experience game on his Wii, which had already been replaced after he wore the first one out. When asked what his one true wish would be, it was abundantly clear what would give him the most joy—he wanted a Michael Jackson themed party where he could dress up like his idol and dance to “Beat It.” His wish grantors then went to task putting together the Michael Jackson party of Marlon’s dreams. There was an MJ “glove painting” (read: cookie decorating) station, a disco ball piñata and a face painting station. And with the help of more than 30 dancers from the Travis Air Force Base, a Michael Jackson impersonator dazzled him with a choreographed medley of MJ’s hits, with costume changes to match. Marlon was captivated, and afterward the entire troupe posed for a picture with him. Says his mom, Melissa, “I’m just so grateful that his wish did come true because after all, he did
‘beat it.’ 78

GoFundMe Projects Low income homes/Gary Indiana Created October 5, 2015 Lavora Brooks I started working at the age of 15. However, my experience of working in housing for lowincome families and individuals began in 1983. In 1989 I followed her heart and began my career within the social service environment, while studying to become a minister in 2002. My dream from a child was to feed and care for the homeless. As a minister in my church, I was led and introduced to a ministry that did exactly that (Feeding the Homeless for Christ) who not only fed the homeless and low income population, but prepared home cooked meals for them as well. The overall mission and purpose is for "FRG" to purchase/rebuild/renovate/sell homes starting in “Gary Indiana, then globally to make home buying a reality to those who would not be able to do so on their own due to financial hardship or poverty. We achieve this purpose and mission through Christian Values of Love and Support for one another. The overall mission of FRG is to purchase, renovate and sell as many homes as possible, interest free, to individuals and families starting in Gary Indiana and surrounding Gary, Indiana who would not be able to ordinarily purchase a home due to their financial poverty level. FRG’s goal is to purchase/renovate and sell (1- 2) homes in 2015 with a long term goal of purchasing, renovating and selling many more interest free! There are many homes in Gary Indiana requiring renovations that needs a loving family and there are many families in need of a home for their children. Every penny raised for this cause will go toward the renovation and placement of families in a home. We would be very thankful, just to be able to make this dream come true for just one family a year.

LIFT ME UP SLOWLY III
Pray without ceasing. (1 Thess. 5:17 KJV) It’s a quiet tree-lined street, and we share the space with wonderful neighbors and a variety of wildlife. The Interstate highway is nearby, but we rarely hear the traffic as it zooms past our town. Occasionally, though, the quiet will be interrupted with the sound of a helicopter, as someone is being air-lifted from the hospital behind our house to one of the larger university hospitals in the DC-metro area. There are many ways to lift someone up, and many reasons to do so. Usually when we think about lifting someone up, we think about it in terms of the emotional realm. We even use language such as “uplifting.” What we mean is that the person or thing (think: a get-well card or flowers delivered) has had a positive influence; that the person or thing was an attempt to cheer someone up, to temporarily bring them out of a state of sadness or grief or some other emotional upset. Trying to lift someone out of such a state is an attempt to make them feel better; to somehow take away whatever ill has been visited on them. It’s a conscious effort on our part to counteract the despair that has befallen someone. We know that people need to feel their feelings, that to ignore them is not healthy and can lead to more problems on down the road. We know we cannot take away pain and suffering from another human being, much as we would desire to do so. But still the recipient of our efforts knows that another person is trying to help in some small way. The effort is never wasted. Even if the uplifting is only temporary, sometimes for a matter of minutes, still the receiver knows that they are cared about. The person in the helicopter, usually a victim of an automobile accident, has a ride of about half an hour or so. But during that time they are attended by nurses and paramedics who are specially trained to care for them. Every time we hear that song, most of us picture Michael being lifted up in the video of the performance. Yet we know the meaning is much deeper. Rarely will we have the opportunity to physically “lift someone up.” Yet life provides us with many opportunities to lift someone up in a variety of ways. We sometimes say, “I will lift that person up in prayer.” Though there are many occasions to provide uplifting for another, prayer is by far the most powerful. We are truly lifting others up, when we pray for them, even when they don’t know about it. And the kind of giving that is done without fanfare and without recognition is the best kind. Let us pray.

Mary Bosque’s Testimony
Miracles Do Happen
This year Mary Bosque a Michael Jackson fan who lives in Watertown, Wisconsin was told me that she had breast cancer and a breast had to be removed. I knew in my mind that l live with battles and now had to endure another battle. l would be among so many that have a battle with cancer but l would have to stand strong even though l knew I had the bad word CANCER. Mary live in a small town and work at the Walmart as a cashier. Because of her surgeries she had to take off from work which caused her to get behind in her bills. When Mary finally did return to work she said life could not have punished her more when her 40 hours went down to 32 hours and finally to 28 hours a week. She is the breadwinner in her family so this caused even a greater hardship. 89
Mary turned shared her plight with Dilma Lowrance, another fan in the community, and asked her if she could assist her in getting some financial support from other MJ fans to get the extremely high water bill paid. Dilma posted this information in the group “Life Has No Words” and sent me a message asking to support by sharing this information with the community and of course I was more than happy to do so. Mary and Dilma’s plan was to ask fans to contact the Utility Company and make pledges which was a very good idea. Mary was making whatever payments that she could toward the water bill but it just wasn’t enough and the bill needed to be paid by October 31st. With her request for help she also made clear her reverence and love for God. She believed that God would move on her behalf and He did just that. Before this message could be shared on a global scale Mary received some wonderful news. The Cancer Center of Wisconsin (Susan Komen of the Patient Advocate Foundation) called to say they would pay the water, gas and some of her medical bills. The water company had received pledges from two fans totaling $60.00 but Mary would need more. Her faith in God did not waver and she remained humble. http://www.patientadvocate.org/news.php?p=971 Luke 1:45…..And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. Surely this is her testimony. It is the evidence of the existence of Mary’s faith and the appearance of what she hoped for. Miracles do happen.

“Heaven Is Here” ~ Poem Written By Michael ~ You and I were never separate It’s just an illusion Wrought by the magical lens of Perception
To know who you are You are much more Than you ever imagined You are the Sun You are the Moon You are the wildflower in bloom You are the Life-throb That pulsates, dances From a speck of dust To the most distant star
There is only one Wholeness Only one Mind We are like ripples in the vast ocean of Consciousness Come, let us dance The Dance of Creation Let us celebrate The Joy of Life
And you and I Were never separate It’s just an illusion Wrought by the magical lens of Perception
The bird, the bees The infinite galaxies Rivers, Mountains Clouds and Valleys Are all a pulsating pattern Living, breathing Alive with cosmic energy
Let us celebrate The Joy of Life Let us Dance The Dance of Creation
Full of Life, of Joy This Universe of Mine Don’t be afraid

“SHOUT IT OUT”: CORRINE MONTORFANI
THE PROBLEM WITH THE MEDIA’S COVERAGE OF THE JACKSON FAMILY 94
The huge problem with how the media is talking about the Jackson Family: What’s Wrong with the Media coverage being always against them?? “The Jacksons: Next Generation,” the new docu-series of Tito Jackson’s three sons: Taj, Taryll and TJ. Finally a show that does not involve the usual nonsense usually seen in other reality shows with celebrities. If you are not interested in 3T or enjoy drama, don't watch this show. This series probably isn't for you. But if you are interested in 3T's perspective on living in the Jackson family, interested in their personal, professional and musical lives, then watch it. The picture coming out is that they have such beautiful souls. There is something there, more than talent that keeps you in awe watching them, analyzing how they speak and their mannerism. I have the feeling that besides 3T’s wish to revive their music career, the real purpose of these shows are to connect with the public in order to make people see their point of view, to see the family dynamics.
The Jacksons were a treasure in the black American community. That’s doesn’t mean you have to believe only good things. The Jacksons are not perfect, they are fortunate and blessed, but under those conditions comes consequences. They were the first African American family to reach the “American Dream” with a phenomenal success and have influenced generations. I think that all the younger Jacksons will pay with stress the consequences of their relatives success in the industry, just because of their last name. Taj,TJ and Taryll want to set the record straight with this Media that keep on marketing an increasingly acrimonious feud that is tearing their family apart. Why and how did it come to this? The best example we have is Tanay’s fraud in the last episode: 3T's televised DNA test was suppose to put a stop to what appeared to be a crazy fan taking advantage of the Jackson’s family name. But when the episode aired and Tanay didn't make comments concerning the results, this gave rise to spread more lies, allow the public to make assumptions and the worst part of it is that some people followed her ramblings! Even with the results of an official DNA test, I saw people in denial, talking racial curses and wondering what Mr. Tito Jackson was hiding (a secret relationship with this Tanay’s mother? Or with her?) The truth has been revelaed regarding that Tanay nut aka Tanesha Jonelle Rodney. She is not Tito Jackson’s daughter, 3T's sister or related to any of the Jacksons. That is great to know. That should be the 95
most important issue and really matters! Why are fans and gossipers continuing to doubt Tito Jackson and the family in general? The media let this Tanay LIAR bash Mrs. Jackson and this fool had the nerve to state that Katherine does not know how to handle the family. How is it that a “supposed” grandchild trashes their "grandmother" to the media??? And more…she commented on Paris issues: why would an adult woman give the media her views about her minor "cousin"? I saw an interview of her on YouTube where she talks about the advice “uncle Michael” gave her, when we all know damn well she never met MJ. She also claimed that “uncle Michael” put her in his “Remember the Time” video as a dancer, which is just NOT possible, because we are talking about a video produced in 1991 and she's younger than 3T! The clues were all there for the Media to catch but they didn't bother to research the story; but still bring up this lie that Michael is not the father of the children that he raised. The media will continue to make them beyond unreliable and people need to question everything they publish. Tito Jackson told them she's not your sister. Tito never acknowledged her as his child. Why did the Media never give credit to him? Taj also gave clarity on the elder Jacksons attitudes, which tend not saying anything and hoping the rumors would just go away, but he rightly added that in today's connected world this doesn't work anymore. They simply wanted to get actual proof that if Media give them a chance to address an issue, they would be able to prove their point and present the truth with REAL FACTS. Which is very understandable to me. As for the race comments I would like to emphasize that only simple minds see race. I really cannot understand these bigot comments, badmouthing who they are married to and how bad their children lost the African American featuress and that they do not seem that rich… Just because someone is a Jackson, does not mean they have to be necessarily rich. Tanay went around claiming to be the daughter of Tito Jackson. 96
That claim was brought to a halt when DNA results were revealed on The Next Generation of Jacksons that she was in fact Not a Jackson. Tanay has been on the Major media outlets as Tito Jackson's daughter. She went as far as to getting close to the Jackson family in Gary. She had been living a lie for years. It must be hard being called out publicly and having to go back to your own personality‌ But it's all her fault and I’m so glad 3T stepped in favor of their father. He is lucky having three amazing sons fighting for the truth to become known.
And despite all of this what does the Media outlets publish? Instead of reporting this as a lie perpetrated for years, they fill their shitty news inventing a possible marriage and related pregnancy of Paris Jackson????
That says a lot about the media lies and the treatment reserved for the Jackson family!!

MJL: What The Fans Have Done Global Message From MJL Team Back to School - October Challenge! In August, MJL teamed up with the Foundation of Goodness, a Sri Lankan organization that works with villagers and donors to uplift the lives of rural communities in Sri Lanka. Our 'Back to School' campaign sought initially to raise enough money to provide school packs for at least 100 children ahead of the start of their new school year in January 2016. The big news is that at the time of writing, dear friends, you have done it again and our current figure stands at 115 bags and counting! We have decided to extend the campaign into October and have a new challenge can you help us double the figure to at least 200 bags by the end of the month
Most of us will remember the joy of starting a new school term with brand new supplies, uniforms and school bags. These simple things that so many of us took for granted make a huge difference for children in poverty-stricken areas of Sri Lanka (particularly those orphaned and otherwise affected by the civil war and the devastation caused by the 2004 tsunami, which so touched Michael's heart). They can mean the difference between a child starting school with all he or she needs for a successful school year and being denied an opportunity to attend classes due to lack of what many might consider basic provi-
sions. Not only have you made that chance of success a reality for over a hundred children so far, but you have given the children the added gift of a few MJ-themed, personalized keepsakes such as postcards, bookmarks and key rings, created by our very own Mimi and assembled by long-term supporter Cindy K., with some of Michael's most popular quotes (as voted for by you!) printed on the back.
We'd be thrilled if you would join us on our October challenge - it costs just $30 USD (ÂŁ20) to sponsor a school bag packed full of school provisions such as books, stationery, a pencil box, a lunch box, crayons, a water bottle, fabric for school uniforms and a voucher for shoes. You can donate by clicking on the 'donate' button on our website, or simply send your gift via Paypal to hello@michaeljacksonslegacy.org. 'You can change the world...' When we announced our intention to work with the International Elephant Foundation (IEF) to help in the conservation of elephants in Africa and Asia in March, it took just weeks to raise the $1500 (ÂŁ1,800) needed to fund six camera traps and $1200 for new
100
tires for a mobile vet vehicle. Hot on the heels of that double triumph came $1500 (£1000) for a village scout to patrol high-risk poaching areas in Zambia.
With so much success in such a short time in Michael's beloved Africa, it was off to Southeast Asia next: Myanmar to be exact! There, you funded a much-needed new roof for an elephant treatment area. And all this while continuing to sponsor over 20 children at the Michael-inspired, MJL-funded Everland Haiti, giving those precious young lives a chance for a brighter future. 'Gonna make a difference …” To celebrate Michael's birthday this year, Sam - our energetic and big-hearted events coordinator, organized an unforgettable celebration, bringing together a super-talented group, including a DJ, dancers and musicians, who, along with dedicated fans and friends of Michael, travelled to London from all over the UK to celebrate, reminisce and most importantly, raise money for Michael's legacy. There was so much talent on the stage - every performer captured at least one of Michael's many facets. Their passion was infectious as they shared their gifts and kept the audience, which we reckon spanned every 'Michael era' and then some (we spotted some under-fives showing off their moves to Michael's music and loving every minute!) enthralled. With a raffle, auction, tombola and plenty of willing hands working behind the scenes to make the day a success, the result was a whopping £1005 raised for MJL! WELL DONE!
But that wasn't all! In Australia, long-time supporters Mary, Tash, Judy and Jan raised A$415 (£176.10 GBP) from Walk The World Sydney and added it to the many pounds and pennies, dollars and cents collected via your decorated JAM jars, as well as the individual donations you are moved to give whenever you can. We have to tell you that every dollar you raise makes such a difference to each project we help, and none of the work we do would be possible without you. We cannot thank you enough for your support and it's our honour and privilege to be part of such a dynamic team so dedicated to keeping Michael's dream to change the world alive. LET'S START GIVING 'It's us. Or else it'll never be done …” Every month we receive many kind messages from a number of you who love what we do, have 'liked' our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and want to help in some way, but feel that you don't have much to contribute financially to the work of MJL. Whilst it's true that the regular donors who give again and again to every project we launch (you know who you are -we love and appreciate you very much!) and the surprise, one-off larger donations we receive from time to time are the crucial to the survival of our small charity, the truth is we need an increase in regular donations if we are to continue this amazing work in Michael's memory. We all know that Michael was larger than life and continues to be so, and although we are a small charity, we all share Michael's big dream of helping as many children, animals and environmental projects as time and money will allow.
101
We want to encourage every single one of you who reads these words and has thought about giving but hesitated because you've thought that one dollar, euro, yen or pound is not enough to make a difference - please give anyway. If each of us who has a little, gives a little, you'd be surprised at how quickly that adds up to a lot! We've often imagined how much more we could do if each of the 15,000-plus 'Likes' we have on our Facebook page could spare just a pound a month to support MJL ‌ So, our second challenge to you is ... could YOU be one of those 'pound-a-month' regular givers? As a 100 per cent volunteer-led charity, we are all committed to keeping our overheads low so that you can be confident that your money will go to the places it's most needed. Can you help make a difference? Yes, absolutely, and MJL needs you. Will you be there? MAKE HIS MESSAGE YOUR MISSION Please consider making a donation today and thus keeping Michael's legacy of love alive. You can donate via the orange Paypal button on our homepage, or by logging into your own Paypal account and sending your gift to the Paypal-linked email address: hello@michaeljacksonslegacy.org. If you haven't yet 'liked' our Facebook Page, please consider doing so, since up-to-the-minute news is posted there. If you HAVE like the page, please be sure to click on the 'down' arrow on the 'liked' button and choose 'get notifications' - that way you will get all the news as it happens and you will see frequent pictures and details showing where and how your money is being spent. We couldn't agree more! Michael's Army of L.O.V.E - THANK YOU! Until next time, Vimbai, Anusha, Sam, Dee, Sue and Mimi (MJL)

We are petitioning the U.S. Congress to author a bill that would make it unlawful to defame a person who is deceased. Slander and libel are not protected under the First Amendment while a person is living. The same protection should be extended to a person after they are deceased. The loved ones of someone who has passed on should not have to live with the continued defamatory stories and false accusations that can so easily be paraded as fact.

WRGO MAGAZINE WATCHMAN The Burden of Genius Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Donny Hathaway, and, of course, Michael Jackson streaked across the sky like comets, rained down artistic genius before flaming out into the dark of memory. From Vincent Van Gogh cutting off his own ear to Sly Stone living in a camper van, the art and entertainment world is rife with stories of tortured genius. Does a person have to be supremely tortured to be supremely talented? Recently Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the memoir “Eat Pray Love”, spoke about the burden of creativity and how, prior to the Renaissance, it was believed that creativity originated from supernatural beings that lived in the walls of the home and who came out and imbued the artist with inspiration. After the Renaissance, the popular belief was that the wellspring for talent came from the artist himself. The result of that belief became a heavy burden on the artist. See, as long as the artist thought their public was happy, the artist was happy. But when the artist sensed dissatisfaction or a work of art underperformed, the artist was distraught, succumbing to vices or descending into madness in search of an answer to the question “What is wrong with me?” Were modern artistic titans like Hendrix and Jackson crushed by the weight of their own talent? I believe they were crushed by the realization that the talent was not theirs to begin with but was “on loan” from their Creator. Amy Winehouse recorded two studio albums, one of which was the multiple Grammy winning “Back to Black”. I’m speculating that the pressure to duplicate the success must have been enormous. The pressure to duplicate the success, coupled with an inability to handle the success, is what I think led to her spiral into a fatal pit of self-destruction. In the same vein, Michael Jackson enjoyed unparalleled success for nearly four decades, but the pressure to remain relevant contributed to his downfall. Lastly, although he is still with us, R&B singer El DeBarge’s struggles with addiction are also well-documented. Did these talented yet flawed people think more highly of themselves than they should because of their talent? Is that what preceded their fall? The Bible warns against self-deification. Romans 1:25 says, “They worshipped and served what had been created instead of the God who created those things.” Any talent that we have comes from Him. He is the one who gave it and, conversely, He is the only one who can take it away. DeBarge’s singing voice should be destroyed, given his history of smoking drugs, but he sounds even better than he did thirty years ago. So, if you’re an emotional artist wondering “what’s wrong with me?” the answer, of course, is nothing. You’re a human being and as human beings, we rise, we fall, we triumph and we fail. Remember, your talent didn’t come from a nymph living in your walls nor is it yours alone. It’s a gift from God. The fact that you’ve been chosen to be the vessel through which that gift comes to the world is not a burden; that’s an honor.

On 13 June 2005 Michael Jackson was acquitted of 10 felony charges and 4 misdemeanors. Those disgruntled in the media, labelled the acquittal celebrity justice. If you want to find out the truth, start reading this book. This is a unique book looking at the trial testimony. It provides an indepth look at the trial from the first day. It offers the reader an insight into the case that was not provided by the media coverage in 2005. This mini series shines a light on the defence case, and the trial testimony.

“I existed on my own terms. I was different my entire life. Some called me divergent, wild, crazy, unpredictable and unconformed—an apostate to the rules of the majority. I called myself God’s creation and found purpose in the madness. When that day came, I didn’t allow other people to dictate how I should feel or act. I learned there was no shame in imperfection because history had shown being different had the power to change perspectives and eventually the world. This is when I realized that flaws had responsibility. This was the day that I learned I was truly BLESSED.” ~ Shannon L. Alder ~ 120
