Altitude: a distance measurement, usually in the vertical or

“up” direction, between a reference datum and a point or object. The reference datum also often varies according to the context (Wikipedia, n.d.).

Cash crop: a crop that is grown mainly to be sold, rather than used by the people who grew it or those living in the area it is grown in. (Cambridge dictionary, n.d.)

Monoculture: the practice of growing only one crop or keeping only one type of animal on an area of farm land.

Single-Commodity Specialisation: a one-sided orientation of a country’s economy in which the production of one or two commodities for export plays the central role

Extraction: the process of removing a substance from the ground or from another substance
