Look For Me In Rainbows
Time for me to go now, I won’t say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, way up in the sky. In the morning sunrise when all the world is new, Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you. Time for me to leave you, I won’t say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, high up in the sky. In the evening sunset, when all the world is through, Just look for me and love me, and I’ll be close to you. It won’t be forever, the day will come and then My loving arms will hold you, when we meet again. Time for us to part now, we won’t say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, shining in the sky. Every waking moment, and all your whole life through Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you. Just wish me to be near you, And I’ll be there with you.

Born in Jackson, North Carolina on September 13, 1941 and as she would have told you – “…Jackson, North Carolina-the county seat…” This was important and laughable the way she told you because she sustained pride in her upbringing there. She graduated from Gumberry High School – there she played basketball, which brings us to her favorite sport to watch on television. Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Oprah were just a few of her favorite shows to watch and if soap operas were still popular she would tell you how she loved Dynasty and All My Children. She attended Essex County College and completed coursework in nursing with a focus on English Literature and Spanish. She was courted by and fell in love with Gerard Clermont and they married - staying together until her recent passing. She was a member of Bright Hope Baptist Church and an honorary member of Grace U.A.M.E. founded in Montclair, NJ based in East Orange, NJ. She had a passion for helping people through food and dance – she loved to shake and move to Oldies and Caribbean/Latin music. Her cooking specialties were rice and beans, green beans, fried chicken (she made the best in the whole wide world- just ask any of our family members) and when she was in the mood- some fabulous bread pudding. Let’s not forget – her pound cake-which she used to make in the Sunbeam mixer that was passed on to her daughter. One of her greatest accomplishments in life was being one of the original core Founding Members of HOMECorp in the early 80’s when affordable housing and feeding families was a serious concern throughout the Montclair community. This organization has since grown to continue helping families and Mary Ann had a first hand in the creation of it. Known in the community as Miss Mary having given of herself years of service in the community of Montclair through childcare, nutrition, nursing, and education, she worked in nursing care at St. Vincent’s Hospital where she was befriended by Dorothy Roberts and they became sisters. Mary Ann took care of elderly people in their homes as a nurses’ aide, she worked in childcare at the Neighborhood Childcare Center also in Montclair, spent some time with Day Nurseries, the Grass Roots Program, monitored and managed at the Wally Choice Park House and Catchings Suite and lastly the “Do Drop In” where she supported her peers in activities for seniors. In some earlier years she developed many friendships through her work in banking and finance. Mary Ann was diligent in family tree research, Grant family historian and at home journalist as well as verbally sharing with her family their birthrights and heritage. Known to family members as: “MareAnn”, “AuntMareAnn”, “AuntieGrandma”, “GraaaaannnnMa”, and “MA” she was loved and adored by all. Family members left here to honor her memory include but are not limited to: her husband Gerard; her daughter, Ahava Felicidad; granddaughter, Kayla-Iman; nieces, Bettie, Tonette, Tina, Elmo ( Jack), Beverly, Shelia, James, Emily (Deanie), Sandra (DeeDee), Helen Ann, Barbara Jean, and Shirley; and an abundance of Grants and Clermonts, who will celebrate her life and mourn their loss.
