A Running Back’s Run Back Home Pastor John Ryan Lee is a passionate, dedicated servant with the gift to preach and teach the Word of God. He is among the rising transformational leaders and voices in his generation and seeks to lead others to Christ through love. As the thirteenth of fifteen children born to the union of the Rev. Clarence Isaac Lee Jr. and the late Betty Jean (Mosley) Lee, he was raised in Crawfordsville, Indiana under their loving and watchful care. The son of an Apostolic preacher, his childhood was filled with weekly church services and bible studies, revivals, prayer nights, and youth activities. In his formative years, he participated in academic clubs and played sports, becoming a decorated athlete in high school as a running back, earning All-State honors and was selected as a member of the Indiana All-Star football team. After overcoming several obstacles and personal battles, Pastor John rededicated his life to the Lord and began a journey of restoration by attending Greater Lighthouse Apostolic Church (Pastor Steven T. Lee, Senior Pastor) in Lafayette, Indiana. It was there he embraced the grace of God that never left him all those years he was running from God’s will for his life and accepted his call to ministry. He later relocated to Muncie and started attending Greater Grace Church (Bishop Kendrick L. Winburn) where he grew in favor and stature with both God and man. His love for the sacred scripture and helping others come to know Christ more intimately allowed him to preach and teach Sunday School. While at Greater Grace Church, he also sang on the worship team and assisted Bishop Winburn in various ministry duties. He remained faithful in service there until joining Berea Apostolic Church, serving alongside his father-in-law, Bishop Renzie Abram. Upon becoming steadfast in his walk with the Lord, he set out to finish what had halted years ago. He is a recent graduate of Ball State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. This fall, he will continue his educational goals at his alma mater pursuing an MBA in Finance. He has also been accepted into the Harvard Business Program and plans to pursue a certification in Business Analytics. Pastor John is currently a teacher in the Muncie Community School Corporation and serves on the City of Muncie’s Unsafe Building Housing Authority Board. Additionally, he volunteers in various local outreach programs such as Feed My Sheep. Pastor John recently celebrated three years of marriage to his lovely wife, First Lady Lynnetta Lee. Together, they lead and serve in ministry at Berea Apostolic Church, as well as being involved in other Christian initiatives in the area. Other than receiving Christ in his life, he considers his family and children (6 sons and 1 daughter) to be his greatest gifts and blessing. His message to those who may have lost their way is: “Run back home; God is waiting with His arms wide open.”

Born for This and More First Lady Lynnetta Lee is purposed with greatness and was born for her role as a pastor’s wife. She is the third daughter and seventh child born to the Reverend Dr. Renzie, founding pastor of Berea Apostolic Church, and the late Mother Lois Abram. The core values of hard work, persistence, and strong family values that her parents instilled in her and her siblings was evident when in 1999 she worked for the Local Union 1112 on various construction projects. Prior to working construction, she worked for the school system in the day and cleaned office buildings during the evening. She graduated from Burris Laboratory School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Community Health Science from Ball State University. She has been employed through the Muncie Community School corporation, Youth Opportunity Center, Open Door Community Services and Open Door/BMH. In 2000, she was hired by the Delaware County Health Department, earning the title of Health Educator and Environmental Health Specialist – she later became the Director of the Food and Environmental Division. In 2014, Lynnetta accepted a job at Ball State University and currently is the Manager of Training for the Dining Department. As manager of training, she facilitates presentations, organizes workshops, creates and updates manuals as well as trains dining management and staff on various topics. Aside from her professional work responsibilities, she humbly serves as the Administrative Assistant at Berea Church. She also takes great joy in teaching Sunday School and Bible Class, and has has spoken at numerous church programs, women’s retreats and other religious conferences. In addition to her ministry responsibilities at Berea, she has played an integral role in the Black Expo Health Fair Committee, Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Adolescent Pregnancy Committee, The Health Coalition of Delaware County, American Heart Association’s Stroke Committee and the Faith & Wellness subcommittee. On a personal note, she feels blessed to minister alongside her husband, Pastor John, and is expecting God to bless them in their new season.

In the 1980’s there was a group of saints having prayer in various homes. Elder Renzie Abram and his wife, Missionary Lois, were a part of that prayer group. Then Elder Renzie Abram, who had been a faithful member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church (later named Emmanuel Temple) for about twenty-three years discerned the voice of the Lord to leave Emmanuel Temple and start a church and a school In November of 1983 he, his wife, and children, left to start a work. His pastor, District Elder Nathanael Madden, did not want him to leave at the time. UnsatisďŹ ed with where they were, some of the members left the church to support him. The following were some of members who came with us: Elder Delbert L. Anderson, his wife Mother Leola (Ash) Anderson, Deacon Cornelius Dollison, Sr., his wife, Missionary Naomi Ruth Dollison, Elder Delbert E. and Sister Diane Anderson, Deacon Renzie Abram, Sr., and others. Some who left went back to their home church after some time. Our Assistant Pastor, Elder Delbert E. and Sister Diane Anderson were so kind to let Berea meet in their basement and have our service. Sister Diane was the musician and choir director. After being in the basement for months, we knew that we needed a place of worship. We looked at land and buildings to purchase for assembly. One Sunday night our Assistant Pastor Anderson was invited to preach at the Willard Street Separate Baptist Church at 1615 East Willard St., Muncie, IN. After that service we heard that the members of the church on Willard Street was going to sell their church. God gave us favor! They wanted us to buy their building and that is what we did. Having already purchased lots on the west side of the church for $1,000.00 from Mr. and Mrs. James Settles, the church was incorporated in 1983. Services were held in the basement. However, the members went into the building in 1984. At the time, the name of the church was Rescue Mission Apostolic Church. A year or two later, Pastor Abram changed the name to Berea Apostolic Faith Church. Berea Church has been blessed to fellowship with local churches as well with those in other cities in Indiana. God has done many wonderful things in Berea. There are many past and present members who cannot be mentioned here. However, our Lord will reward them because He Is faithful. To Him we give Glory and Honor!
