Margaret Lewallen Art Review 02
Wacom Cintiq Computer and Pen
I was rather confounded when trying to decide what to do for this assignment, and then it hit me – I use a smaller tablet product from Wacom almost every day in my work. They’ve been around for a while, constantly upgrading and changing their software. I chose the Cintiq for what, to me, seems like an amazing breakthrough for digital artists. Being able to draw and animate directly onto the screen gives a whole new level of control to your work than even a tablet does, and I believe that is important in today’s working world.
The screen has a few different ways of being adjusted to make for easier working, and the screen is made to be durable and scratch resistant as you work. The pen that lets you work on the screen itself is light, durable, and lets you have a wide range of control with setting the sensitivity to the screen. Taking the customization a bit further, there are various keys that you can adjust to your liking as well.
“The Cintiq family of interactive pen displays enables creative professionals to work naturally and intuitively using Wacom's patented professional pen technology directly on the surface of an LCD display.” The Cintiq 21UX is reported to be the first LCD monitor to use two types of keys – the ones I had mentioned being completely customizable. Not only is this monitor an amazing product for animators, photographers and others in the digital art field speak highly of the Cintiq as well.
