1. Beatz magazines masthead is located at the top of the magazine and uses slang (short abbreviated language).The masthead used the same size, colour, font and name which mean that the magazine brand its self will become recognizable to a reader. The title relates to music itself as it is an element of time. The A in the masthead has been switched which shows its deferntated, the Z has been modified for the generic target audience, this internally relates to the teenage market which I am appealing to. The masthead has been connected by two parts these are Beatz and Magazine. Magazine has been in line with the top of Beatz to unite both together. 2. The slogan used uses the phrase ‘music to a new level’ which I used as it is clear to read, bold which draws the reader’s attention, simple and is easy to memorize. ‘Music to a new level’ suggests that my magazine is a number one seller which has exclusive’s news. 3. The cover lines I have used are different each time to create an effect. The main cover line, has been spread across the page and placed on top of the image, which indicates it’s related to the image. Each has its unique style which shows the artists creative background and their emotions. The cover lines have been clearly laid on the page, using the light colours on the page contrasts with the black background. 4. The barcode on my magazine stays in the same location of the page which will be consistent throughout the issues, people recognize the placing of the features of the magazine which makes it easier to locate objects. My barcode is on the bottom right hand side of my magazine which also features the price. 5. The image is a mid angle shot which represents equality towards the reader and the artist. Jay R gives eye contact to the reader which draws attention towards him, Jay R has a casual dress style which projects that he’s a down to earth guy who expresses his love for music. His facial expression shows him to be a confident person as well as his posture as it’s a relaxed pose. These were all incorporated into my magazine as it shows the reader that Jay R has become a bold, courageous person. 6. The black to blue blended background emphasizes the cover lines. The background connotates that Jay R has come from the darkness into the light. The reason for the use of the background was to make the image of Jay R standout moreover use his style in the front of the magazine. 7. The advertising on the magazine lures people to buy the magazine which means more interest and more recommendation. Which has been researched throughout the previous weeks
1. The cover line for my double page spread is relevant to the article as, it talks about Jay R becoming something from nothing. The colours I used were to make the cover lines stand out from the article. Black and white is common colours to be used but contrast the two red tones. 2. The pictures I used show Jay R as a hopeful, fearless individual. The first image of him on a stage with a microphone is an insight into Jay R’s normal day to day life in the spotlight, the reason I chose this image is due to the fact that it shows him to be a crowd pleaser and to express his emotions through music to the public. The second image of him on a sofa, relaxed and laid back, let the readers know he has time for his fans, to be open and up close with them, the reason for the use of his image is to show the public he wants then to know more about him. The third image shows him posing for the camera with all his confidence beside him, the reason I chose this image is to show Jay R in a different light, how he has to be when the camera is on, but still shows he’s the same person before the fame and the money. 3. The reason I chose a solid red background with white strips. Red connotates trustworthiness, success and luck, white connotates life, stability, happiness and goodness. These connotations describe Jay R’s life and what he has become. The colours contrast each other. The colour chosen are related to the article as he shows his successful side but was still happy without the attention. 4. The article its self talks about Jay R and his successfulness now he has entered the music industry, the reason I chose the type of article I did was because the public like to see how people are so determined in today’s world. Jay R is the perfect example as he tried his best to enter the music industry, in my questionnaire results, this is shown by which magazine the community would read on a regular basis. 5. The type of font I wanted was a modern but classy font which could stand out on the red background, this is why I chose white to offset the red. This has been shown in my mood board of colours.

1. The contents page title at the top right hand corner should attract the audience as its makes a statement using a variety of different colours to make it appealing. The red links into the theme of black, white, red and blue. The title has a modern, sophisticated feel which emphasis the target audience. 2. The editor’s letter has been placed in a corner, which makes the content page flow. The ‘dear reader’ title has been placed vertically to be noticeable to the reader as its original and modern. As seen in my research, many other music magazines have incorporated this to suggest ways to contact them with issue’s seen in the magazine. 3. The follow us application show which social network sites Beatz magazines uses to update their readers which the new information. The icons I made have been used to show Beatz magazine to be a trend setter. The reason I chose it, was because I had seen previously in other music magazines a similar object which was used to secure a loyalty group of readers. 4. Half of the page was given to the featuring of the articles in the magazine, this was due to the fact that this part of the page was most important and it is effective as it’s the last part of the content page which the reader will see. The reason I chose the red and white was to keep with the theme, which I wanted to be reflected on the whole of my magazine. The different variety of grays makes it standout. The dark red to red boxes holds the page numbers, which is a stylish way to present the content page. The font I used is Calibri, it simple and contemporary at the same time. 5. The pictures I used were of pages linked to articles inside the magazine thus making the magazine easily readable and accessible to the reader.
