Fine Design: Keynote Luncheon Luxury Without Limits Presented By: Roger Thomas Wednesday, June 11, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Experience Five-Star design through the eyes of award-winning designer, Roger Thomas. The creative genius behind the world famous Bellagio and Wynn hotels in Las Vegas, Thomas has the self-described distinction of being the only designer “who has overspent an unlimited budget.” His designs and over-the-top-luxury have mesmerized the world; from his breathtaking hotel projects, to his numerous nationally published private homes. Thomas has been selected to the Hospitality Design Platinum Circle and was recently honored as one of Architectural Digest’s Top 100 Designers. His presentation will take you through the creative process and execution of one of the world’s finest hotels, Wynn Las Vegas. He will share the interesting juxtaposition of how residential design has always been the core of his approach to hotel design; the home is now influencing fine hotel design, and how in return hotel guests like to take “the hotel home” with them, whether it be bedding, bath, linens, or even his furniture from EF+LM. Thomas has designed a collection for Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman which can be viewed at the EF+LM showroom in suite 1870A. To R.S.V.P for this Keynote Luncheon please visit www.neocon.com Join Roger at the EF+LM showroom, Suite 1870A, for wine and dessert immediately following the presentation and drop your business card for a spectacular raffle drawing that will not disappoint. Winner must be present. Reception R.S.V.P 312.822.9966.

Opening June 9, VENU, a furniture company founded by Gary Lee and Thomas McWalters of the venerable design atelier, Gary Lee Partners. Suite 1689 will serve as the furniture company’s brand new permanent flagship showroom. Locating VENU’s global flagship showroom in The Merchandise Mart was the logical choice for Lee and McWalters, both longtime Chicago residents and active members of the local design community. The 3,000 sq. foot showroom space will have a theatrical, ethereal feel. Conceptually, the showroom will be set-up to be a 100’ long runway linked to five vignettes. The surfaces and materials throughout the space will remain neutral to highlight the one-of-a kind furnishing design pieces. An additional accent will include a suspended ceiling, with the lighting angled for a dramatic appeal. Each vignette within the showroom will contain silk draping, as well as a large scale art installation. The space set-up and the décor frame the very refined and elegant furniture. VENU is pleased to announce that they will be world premiering their new, elegant furnishings line, TG Couture, at the upcoming NeoCon world trade show in Chicago this June 2008. TG Couture is the second collection for VENU and consists of thirty, brand-new beautiful and architecturally-sophisticated pieces. The line is greatly inspired by couture fashion, and reflects their signature craftsmanship, attention to detail, elegant lines and classic materials. Each piece, hand-crafted in America by the finest artisans, exudes luxury while at the same time maintaining its essential authenticity and functionality. In keeping with VENU’s overall design ethos, TG Couture is a reflection of the designers’ neverending search for perfection—in both form and function—and is the result of the duo’s decades of commercial and residential design experience. Each piece is at once a work of art while remaining highly functional… perfect for a variety of environments.

peg callaRd RetIRes peg callard, owner and founder of callard & associates, has become a recognized design icon at the merchandise mart design center for the past 27 years. she was first introduced to the design industry by hand-printed textiles designers eleanor and hank Kluck of elenhank designs and Renaissance man Jack denst. It was through these designers, along with passion and dedication, that she gained the experience and knowledge to open her own showroom. In 1981, peg opened her eponymous showroom, callard & associates, on the 16th floor of the merchandise mart, known for its soft, contemporary furnishings and accessories. peg notes, “I wanted to create a space that was inviting, where people can feel comfortable browsing through our collection of furnishings, textiles and wallcoverings.” In her personal life, peg’s signature style is more eclectic; an avid antiques collector, peg mixes antique pieces with modern and eco-friendly elements throughout her chicago home. after 27 successful years in business, callard & associates has become synonymous with the very best in design, offering such lines as barbara beckman, lee weitzman furniture, Koplavitch & Zimmer, peter alexander, and wicker works among others. In april, 2008 callard & associates is merging with showroom area International giving peg the opportunity to move forward and pursue other interests. working at the merchandise mart for more than three decades, peg has met a lot of people. “I will miss many things, but most importantly the people. some of my closest friends are manufacturers, designers and merchandise mart employees.” but peg will never fully stray from the design world. her friends turn to her for decorating advice and resources, and the design gene runs in her blood. “I am very proud of my daughter, meg prendergast, senior Vice president of design for the getty’s group and her husband, James prendergast, partner leading the interior architecture practice at goettsch partners.” John brennen, executive vice president for merchandise mart properties, Inc. and longtime friend of peg’s speaks for many when saying, “peg has become a permanent fixture and dear friend of the merchandise mart design center, known for her exquisite taste, warmth and generosity and I’m not alone in saying that she will be sorely missed.”
