MOBILE FASHION WEEK LOOKBOOK 2014

About MFW Bringing fashion and charity together. Mobile Fashion Week was started in 2011, with no start up funds a group of industry professionals came together and started a week long celebration of fashion, culture, art, and charity. Founder Richard McGill hit the ground running to find the creative minds along the Gulf Coast that were ready to make fashion history. In August of 2011, the first runways shows of MFW hit Downtown Mobile, AL.

During the first year of MFW, you saw people from all walks of life enter the galleries and show arenas. This was great not only for the fashion designers showing their collections, but for charity. Raising awareness for charity and creating product knowledge and brand awareness for the designers was a success. Our first year was a knock out, not only did it boost social awareness for the charity but sales at participating retailers had a nice increase from the MFW shows as well. MFW is continuing our mission, to promote community, fashion, and awareness for “Fashion... with a Cause.

This stunning 19th Century mansion is one of the most glamorous buildings in the city, and this is why we staged out Mobile Fashion Week 2014 campaign here! The mansion was built by Judge John Bragg and sits in a fashionable garden. Because of the stunning features and the details of the building, it’s more popular for private events and weddings, but we decided to take over for more of a fashionable day. Bragg-Mitchell Mansion was generously donated to the Explore Center by the A.S. Mitchell foundation in the late 1970s to be the home of an interactive science museum. Instead of adapting the home for this purpose and potentially destroying the historic integrity of the Mansion, The Explore Center built a separate science museum, The Gulf Coast Exploreum, and began work to restore the Mansion to its antebellum grandeur. Bragg-Mitchell Mansion was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. After$3 million in renovations, the home was opened to the public in 1987 and now serves as the preferred location for community wedding receptions, corporate dinners and historic home tours. Special thanks to the Bragg-Mitchell mansion for letting us take over the beautiful grounds to complete our 2014 campaign. If you are interested in helping with the mansions long term goals of restore the building, grounds, and furnishings to reflect lifestyles of its previous owner please visit www.braggmitchellmansion.com for more information.
