The fringe hems and vertical stripes that came down the runways last fashion week will undoubtedly determine what we’ll be wearing in the coming season, but snaps capturing the garb of the most intelligent sartorial minds give us a better sense of what to wear in the moment. Though we may lust over that sequined Marc Jacobs anything or the newest Céline silhouette we may never get our hands on, street style has luckily become extremely accessible to the masses. While the off duty models’ Balenciaga leather jacket might be just a tad outside of our budget, we can borrow the city-chic feel. We can also definitely learn to mix what we thrift and what we buy retail from our favorite money-savvy fashionistas. Since street style images from fashion week saturate our social media news feeds until the next season comes around, what better inspiration is there?

the male models There are no drool-worthy looks like the off duty ensembles of the men of the runway. There is an air of perfect simplicity that is simultaneously obvious and unachievable. Mixed media and refined sportswear are at the center of this aesthetic. Left Shirt // Gap Pants // American Apparel Shoes // Model’s own

m o de l of f dut y Street style photographers hunt the fresh faces of the modeling industry not only because they’ve surpassed celebrity status, but also because their cool, edgy style has become one of the most notable fashion week looks. Rushing between shows, clothes are pleasantly simple and uncomplicated. To approximate this look, stick with a black base and build up to perfection with textured pieces and cool prints. Leather Jacket // Mango Silk shirt // J.Crew Velvet Jeans // Paige Denim Ankle Booties // Sam Edelman

the cool kid Somehow we only see him for a lightening second, yet he can recite shows look for look. Between Y-3 and Yeezy, the cool kid usually has a knack for avoiding the cameras and craze. When we do happen to catch him, he can always be spotted in the minimal but can’t live without pieces you’ve been skipping lunches to finance. t h e front row girl Due to its popularity, fashion week isn’t only frequented by those who work in the fashion industry. It is an opportunity to see and be seen. Designers will often fill their premium front row seats with socialites and celebrities to bring more attention to their shows. The lucky A-listers always bring their A game. Often covered in borrowed clothes, they mix their own pieces in to personalize the look. For a night out, try pairing your go-to dress with the statement jacket you are sometimes afraid to wear. recently erupted to become the highly covered event it is today, the veterans of the bunch, who maybe feel like they’ve been attending since its beginning in World War II, aim to keep it simple and use bold pieces that speak for themselves. A statement pant and sweater combo is perfect for when you don’t have time to sift through your closet, but want to look put together. the thr i f te r There is no better (or worse) sight than the impeccably dressed thrifter. While the average collegiate can’t buy the $4,000 Valentino dress, when we see our street style idols in it, we can find it online and add it into that “never gonna happen” shopping cart. This is not so true for vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces. While we can’t necessarily get our hands on a thrifter’s exact look, it gives us hope that we can dig through a bin, spend 15 bucks and still be photograph worthy.
