WELCOME TO THE ISSUE Spring is officially here. That exciting feeling of newness is one of my favorite aspects of the Spring season. And this issue is filled with it, including our Cover star Sarah Hyland’s exploration of life's ultimate fresh start. Sarah Hyland is a testament to the fact that times are changing, and as a strong advocate of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, has forced media to be more accurately reflective of the world we live in. Having herself facing adversity and having to face the challenges of a kidney transplant, which she has only recently shared publicly, Sarah is proof that directness and transparency are definitely in the air. Sarah is a genuine leader has been a terrific role model, showing us that women don't have to conform to some ridiculous standard to have a career. But it was only when I spent a day with her on our April cover shoot that I, along with the entire team on set at the Terranea Resort, was properly dazzled and had a true sense of admiration for the actress. I found the mixture of her warm honesty, openness and sense of humor equally mesmeric and modern. She is absolutely gorgeous in person and the kind of girl you immediately want to be friends with. There’s something so relatable to both her “ real person” as with her character on Modern Family. Sarah talked candidly about her life: her pre-fame years, her time as an aspiring actress and what she loves most about being on-set. With many projects in the pipeline, we were excited to find out more about what is next for this mega star... and know you will be too.

We have always known Sarah Hyland to be a genuine leader and a strong role model. With a mixture of her warm honesty, openness, confidence and sense of humor she is not only the kind of girl you immediately want to be friends with, she is relatable, incredibly talented and absolutely stunning. Modeliste sat down with Sarah on location at our picturesque cover shoot, set on the majestic cliffs soaring above the Pacific Ocean at Terranea Resort, and here is what we learned from our April Cover Star.

SARAH HYLAND Where did you grow up? New York City Bitch! Specifically the East Village a block away from St. Marks. It’s really nice now, but growing up it wasn’t, nor was it safe, but I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. How did you get into acting? My father’s a theatre actor so I grew up watching him perform Shakespeare all over the country. When I was 4, I realized that it was something I could do, and could do at a young age, so I begged my parents to let me audition and they said no. A few months later, my dad had an audition and I commandeered it. That was my first professional job…. playing Howard Stern’s daughter in “Private Parts”. You recently celebrated Modern Family's 200th show. Congratulations! What are some of your fondest memories with the cast, on or off the show? Thank you! I love it when we film episodes on location. The cast, the writers, and our crew are really able to spend all of our time together off-set. When we’re in LA and we’re done shooting for the day, everyone goes home because we all have our own lives (ie. family and friends). So I really love it when we all go out to dinner or to a bar on locations and bond more… even more… as much as you can bond after 9 years together!
You're also a huge supporter of the Time's Up and Me Too movements. What do you hope for society given these massive movements? And what advice would you give to women who are still afraid to speak out about the events they have been through? I hope society doesn’t turn away or ignore these movements. It’s hard to fully understand what it’s like to be a victim of such horrific events and society tends to play the “what you don't know won’t hurt you” card… until you know and you are hurt. I, however, fully believe that we, as women, will not let that happen. We will continue to fight for equality. We will continue to fight for justice. We will continue to fight for those who can not (whether its difficult to find a voice, or for financial reasons). It’s amazing that so many men (because not all men are evil) have stood with us in battle. Movements like this inspire and empower me to continue to have a voice. As for advice all I can say… is that I hope you know you are not alone. what has happened to you is nothing to be ashamed about. The only person who should feel shame, and so much more, is the one who caused you pain. So if that is a reason why you're afraid to speak out? Don’t. Their time is up and it is your time now. Your time to find a voice. Your time to seek justice for the horrible thing(s) that has/have happened to you. We will be here and you are loved and supported by us all.

I love getting to work with Candies as their creative director. One of my favorite pieces is the printed maxi dress. It is SO comfortable and looks amazing on every body type. It’s perfect for a day out or a night out! Describe your everyday style in three words. Depends. on. weather. What is your current handbag? I mix my handbags up. but I love a good small to medium sized black leather backpack. It fits so much and still is stylish enough to get away with wearing a backpack. Signature scent? Miss Dior What is something you hope to accomplish in 2018? CREATE What were some of your favorite looks from today's shoot? My favorite was our last look of the day- the pants with the headband. Serving major Katherine Hepburn vibes on the beach. Any exciting upcoming projects for you? I’m filming a movie this summer so stay tuned. I have a personal project that I'm working on that does not involve acting, which I'm VERY excited for…. so stay tuned. I have a couple other things I’m working on as well… so stay tuned, and of course more Modern Family. What do you love most about Modeliste? The locations and the fashion. It’s mesmerizing.

Location: SLS BAHA MAR Describe your Instagram page in three words. LIT!, progressive, stylish. What makes your feed so unique? I think what's unique about my feed is that it's real. Everything I post, is coming from me. No one has access to my account, management or agent wise. It's authentically me. What is your favorite part about being an influencer? Parker: My favorite part would be that my posts will inspire others. I just always hope people get joy from looking at my feed. How would you describe your personal fashion style? Honestly I am all over the place. Sometimes I literally wear mens clothes & sneakers and I’ll be on my tomboy tip. Or I throw on a dress and heels and stunt! It's all about my mood in that moment. I also change multiple times a day. I’m very indecisive!
Where do you get inspiration for your photos? I get inspired by life & traveling. I also get a lot of inspiration from looking at other peoples pics on instagram or Pinterest even. We partnered with Pixi for our Mode Around The Globe Bahamas Influencer Getaway, so you were able to try a few of their amazing products. Tell us about what you love most about the Pixi line. I love that everything feels extremely lightweight on your face and the packaging is so cute! I love pink! Which product was your favorite? I am a huge fan of colored lip balms so that was one of my favs. I also love the rose face wash, it's super lightweight and moisturizing and it pairs well with the toner. I haven’t tried the shimmery eyeshadow but when it's time I know it's going to be a LOOK! In the Bahamas we stayed at the SLS Baha Mar. Tell us about your overall experience at the property and what you loved most about this particular hotel.
The property was beautiful!! And very chill which I loved! Everywhere we ate the food was amazing!! Plus they didn’t hold back on the tequila shots! My favorite thing was the decor in the bathroom, I need an iridescent shower + those amazing robes!! I really wanted to steal one! What was your favorite part of the trip? Parker: My favorite part was getting to know a few of the women on the trip, turning up with them! Getting to shoot some dope content! This trip was for sure unforgettable. Why do you love Modeliste Magazine and our Mode Around the Globe Getaways? I think the concept of inspiring women from all different walks of life coming together to create something is beautiful. The trip in itself was inspiring and has motivated me continue to work hard, but also not take life so seriously.

My feed is unique because it shows not only me, but the world through my eyes. No matter where I am, I try to capture it in the most gorgeous way. Additionally, I always try to make every photo aesthetically pleasing and full of color. My feed is most unique in spring and fall in which I think my account stands out as my sister and I capture the brilliance of those seasons. What is your favorite part about being an influencer? Choosing my own schedule and being able to create something that I can show to the world every day. As a creative I always hoped to have a job like this and one thing I never expected was that I would inspire so many and I adore that part too. How would you describe your personal fashion style? Feminine, Contemporary, Chic Where do you get inspiration for your photos? I think fashion and lifestyle accounts all inspire each other. Whether it’s on
Instagram, Tumblr or Pinterest! I am often inspired by photography and travel accounts when choosing locations for my next trip. We partnered with Pixi for our Mode Around The Globe Bahamas Influencer Getaway, so you were able to try a few of their amazing products. Tell us about what you love most about the Pixi line. The products are all really excellent quality and the packaging is lovely! I loved how the mask was a peel-off (extra satisfying) and also slightly metallic looking. The shea butter lip balm smelled wonderful and was the prettiest natural pink.
We also tried the poolside dining (highly recommend the truffle fries), lobby (the sliders omg!) and many of the restaurants – all superb in flavor and service! And second, the property is new and spacious. It was wonderful having so many places to relax and also so easy to shoot my Instagram photos! What was your favorite part of the trip? It’s so funny, almost every trip I go on, the food is what I remember best :P In this case, the salmon nigiri and red bean mochi ball dessert at Katsuya!! Not food wise-- being just steps from the beach and the cute cabanas!
Why do you love Modeliste Magazine and our Mode Around the Globe Which product was your favorite? Getaways? Most definitely the rose tonic as I love I loved getting to meet everyone anything rose scented or colored. and I also loved that everything was taken care of! From transportation, In the Bahamas we stayed at the SLS food and even having a professional Baha Mar. Tell us about your overall photographer on hand! The location experience at the property and what chosen was ideal and I can’t wait to see you loved most about this particular where their next getaway is! hotel. It's not the trend, the popular or the curated. It's less of that and more transparent to show my audience that reality is there no matter the highlight reel. What is your favorite part about being an influencer? I get to meet beautiful souls all around the world, create a life that is inspiring to myself and to an audience who dreams like I do in hopes of inspiring them to bring those said dreams into fruition when their time comes. Those have got to be my most favorite parts! How would you describe your personal fashion style? My personal sense of fashion style is a marriage of vintage frills and modern simplicity while mixing masculine and feminine to blur those in between lines. Where do you get inspiration for your photos? 90% of the time, my inspiration comes from the locations themselves. There is so much history in these places through their architectures and demographics that you can't help but be moved by those. Nature also plays a huge role in
my imagery. I love combining the beauty of the elements of nature like water, wind and fire into my photographs. You can't go wrong with mother nature's gifts. As luxurious as the property was, it still gave that down to earth island feel that one would look for in an island stay! What was your favorite part of the trip? It's quite difficult to pick when we got to experience top of the line chef cuisine, impeccable beaches, stay at a luxurious resort and work with astoundingly wonderful people. I would pick the newfound friendships that were created on trips like these to be my all time favorite part! Why do you love Modeliste Magazine and our Mode Around the Globe Getaways? Modeliste Magazine is a magazine that is unlike the rest. It inspires the everyday woman like my audience and myself ! Having gone on this #ModeAroundTheGlobe getaway has shown me how much work they put into curation these beautiful experiences while keeping it extremely fun and professional at the same time! Location: Suncadia Resort What is your favourite part about being an influencer? The constant support from my lovely followers. I also really enjoy traveling and meeting new people from all over the world. How has your social feed changed over the years? Over the last two years I've tried to focus on making my social feed blend , I try to do this by sticking to a neutral colour pallet. What are some of your favourite apps to edit photos with? I'm currently using an app called 'Phonto' which has a filter called ‘fade’ I use this on most of my photos so that my photos all match! Describe your personal fashion style. I tend to stick to the same colours, my wardrobe mainly consists of black , white , grey and nude. Every so often I like to add a splash of colour but these four colours are definitely my go-to colours during the year. What are 3 things you always bring with you on a plane? Moisturizer, earphones and a neck cushion.
What is your advice for looking cute and stylish in cold weather like snow? Keep warm! Pack your warmest jumpers , gloves and a thick scarf. What are some of your favourite snowy weather activities? After our trip to Washington I must say I definitely have found a new love for snowshoeing, we had so much fun walking in them. I do love ice skating also, I am by no means a professional but I do really enjoy putting on a pair of skates and attempting to not look like Bambi on ice! How would you describe our Washington Getaway in three words? Scenic, Peaceful and very cold!! What was your favourite part about the Fairmont Olympic? The rooms were beautiful! Especially the main dining room where we had Afternoon Tea, it was such a lovely experience and delicious! What did you love most about Suncadia Resort? The view from the main entrance and my bedroom was breathtaking.
What was your favourite Derma E product? The Night Cream What was your favourite Bioderma product? The Cleanser How do you transition your skincare regimen from Winter to Spring? I tend to stick to the same routine as it seems to work in all seasons. I moisturize every morning and every evening without fail and I never sleep with makeup on. Why do you love Modeliste and our Mode Around the Globe Getaways? I have traveled with Modeliste twice now and on both trips I have tried out something I have never done before including 'Snowshoeing'! Modeliste has taken me to two beautiful countries that I had never been to before. I am so grateful to have spent time in Jamaica and Washington with such kind, inspiring people.

Location: Suncadia Resort How did you first decide you wanted to be an Influencer? I had an epiphany one morning thought to myself; “I really love fashion, lifestyle, travel, why not blog about it?” It all started after that.
What is your advice for looking cute and stylish in cold weather like snow? How to look cute? And stylish? Layer and accessories- lots of it! Belt, hat, jewelry is a MUST, and perfect hair. :-)
How has your social feed changed over the years? It has changed quite a bit. I used to only play safe with styling and now I am more on trend, I love layering and accessorizing!
What are some of your favourite snowy weather activities? I grew up in upstate New York and we’d always go sledding! So sledding is my favorite winter activity.
What is your favourite part about being an influencer? My favorite part of being an influencer is having a voice. To inspire, motivate women to go after their dreams (the sky's the limit) and have a positive impact!
How would you describe our Washington Getaway in three words? Is Winter Wonderland three words? Lol
What are some of your favourite apps to edit photos with? My current favorite apps are Lightroom, snapseed, and VSCO. Describe your personal fashion style. My personal fashion would be BOLD & a lil funky! I never plan my outfits, it always works great! What are 3 things you always bring with you on a plane? 3 things: lipstick, lots of snacks, and headphones!
What was your favourite part about the Fairmont Olympic? Hospitality. Fairmont never disappoints! This specific Fairmont has an old classic charm and I can hardly wait to be back! What did you love most about Suncadia Resort? I loved the cabin feels. Brings me back to childhood memories - roasting marshmallows and making s’mores over the campfire. These are wonderful moments I will cherish and look forward to making more in the future!
What was your favourite Derma E product? I am new to Micellar water and I am absolutely in love with it! The best addition to my skincare regimen. What was your favourite Bioderma product? My favorite Bioderma product has got to be their Atoderm lip stick! I apply it once in the morning and that’s it! How do you transition your skincare regimen from Winter to Spring? Transition is quite easy as spring a bit warmer here in California and I would only need to use less moisturizer. It’s winter that gets my skin super dry and that’s when I need maximum moisturizing. Why do you love Modeliste and our Mode Around the Globe Getaways? I love the fact that it is women owned! Women empowerment is very dear to my heart and that’s what Modeliste gives me. How has your social feed changed over the years? My social feed changed drastically! Are used to dress very basic and now I am very much into excess arising, layering, and now more daring. What are some of your favourite apps to edit photos with? I use light room, snap seed, & VSCO. Describe your personal fashion style. I am super girly so I love frilly pieces like lace, ruffles & sometimes urban. What are 3 things you always bring with you on a plane? The three things I always bring with me on the plane is a blanket, pillow, and a book! Always got to have a good read!
What is your advice for looking cute and stylish in cold weather like snow? I would say layer up! All long jackets,puffer jackets, belts and scarves!

BEACH WAVE S
1-We’ve seen various versions of “beach waves”, for Olivia’s hair we wanted it to look as if she dived into the ocean and her hair had partially dried. We applied flexible hold gel from the roots to the ends and sectioned the hair into four section and braided each section leaving an inch of the ends out.
2-Once braided, run the blow-dry over each braid until the gel is dry. Next undo the braids and shake out with your finger tips. Then spray sugar spray towards the ends for added shine and texture. 3-For the makeup we went full glam using purple shimmer shadow around the entire eye matched with a bright pink lip to offset the “undone-ness” of the hair. 1-Monochromatic glam is making its way into spring 18. On this look we used a bronze shade that worked really well on Olivia and really brought out the beautiful blue in her eyes. We used a warm, medium , matte brown all over the entire eye. We applied it from the lash-line to the brow bone and wrapped it around to the bottom lash-line.

2-On the skin we used a similar shade (to the shadow) matte bronzer and contoured the cheekbone and did a touch more than usual, to have it stand out to give it that 90’s supermodel flair.

1-Pink eye makeup is a U huge trend for 2018. A fresh way to use this out of the box shade is to add an eye-gloss to the center of the eyelid for added dimension. I then also lined the top and bottom waterline using a chocolate-y eyeliner to frame the eyes and make them a touch more dramatic.
