This month’s issue includes a number of stories that focus, in one way or another, on courage, identity and self-image. How we regard ourselves, how we feel about who we are, is reflective of many factors and facets of our individual lives. The talent featured within our pages, all have exemplified the courage to break barriers, to open oneself to vulnerability and discovery and to express their creativity and unique gifts wholeheartedly. Courage is an essential element to opening new paths, new experiences. It takes courage to question, to break with predefined destinies and concepts. Courage to dare, even when no one else believes or understands. Courage to dream and to shape what is dreamed. Whether it comes to you while deep in meditation, driving in your car, during a walk or sound asleep, our dreams can take many forms and inspire us in so many ways. So keep dreaming because when we dream, there are no filters or limits to creativity.

Where are you from? I’m from a small town near Houston, Texas. I grew up playing a lot outdoors in nature with a house full of animals. How would you define your career in three words? Creative, dynamic, fast-paced You have developed a social media following of over 3 million people, worldwide. Can you take us a little behind the scenes of the process of developing the platform you have established today? I started in the modeling industry before social media like Instagram was so prevalent, it was so different back then. Then I slowly started realizing the importance of having your own platform, you can use social media to really have a voice and post what matters to you. It’s such an incredible thing because I started using my instagram as my portfolio and loved having creative control like I had never had before. Now content creation is a full time job for me. I’m obsessed with Tiktok. I started posting on Tiktok during the pandemic when we were all on lockdown. I was posting different content then on my IG. Things like makeup tutorials, telling my modeling story and even silly videos like “ selfie hacks” I gained more than a million followers in a few months. I love the creative freedom that I have through social media. What's a goal you hope to accomplish? I’m hoping to launch my own brand within the year! What's a highlight in your career? I’ve had many highlights and achievements I’m proud of, but a few recently were my covers with Harper's Bazaar and Maxim. What can people expect to see from you in the remainder of 2021? There are a lot of exciting things in the works that I can’t share with you just yet! What's something people would be surprised to know about you? I’ve been in a steady relationship for 14 years. What's something in your closet you couldn't live without? I’m obsessed with this Skims body suit. I ordered it in every color, it’s so flattering and looks good with anything. A fashion trend you're loving right now? I’m loving the funky nail trends. As a model I wasn't allowed to do anything fun with my nails for years, so I’m really into nail art at the moment.

A fashion trend you're loving right now? I’m loving the funky nail trends. As a model I wasn't allowed to do anything fun with my nails for years, so I’m really into nail art at the moment. You only have three items in your makeup bag you can choose to use forever - what do you choose? Lip liner, Bronzer, brow gel. An essential item in your skincare routine? A good face oil A beauty tip you would recommend? A faux tan. What's your dessert of choice? Anything chocolate, homemade chocolate chip cookies are always a win. How do you prep your skin for a photoshoot? I like to use a sheet mask and then do a little facial massage with some face oil to boost circulation and help with puffiness. If I have time, microcurrent is amazing as well for a little lift. What're you looking forward to most this summer? I’m going to Costa Rica in a few weeks. I’ve never been so I’m really looking forward to exploring and spending some time in nature. Something you were surprised to learn recently? After 2020 nothing surprises me any more haha! Top 3 things on your bucket list. Starting my own company, traveling the world, starting a family (not for a little while though haha!) What would you like to say to your fans? I wouldn't be where I am today without my online friends and community. I wouldn't even be having this conversation. I’m BEYOND grateful for every single one of you!

There’s always been a need for a good set of nails, but this summer has shown a new wave of nail obsession. From Kylie Jenner to Billie Elish, you’ll be seeing them mark their style with a striking manicure. This is the time to let go of the old and welcome the new. Hot summer weather is here and this brings us long sunny days to enjoy by the pool, the beach or simply hanging out in our own backyards. No matter where you live or how you chose to spend your summer, taking care of your skin should always be in your mind. Here are some expert tips for beautiful summer skin!
Save your Skin and your Shield Your Sanity Skin Your skin and your mood are intertwined on many different levels so as emotions are played out they can be expressed on your skin. Rashes, acne breakouts, dry, itchy and sensitive skin are a few of the ways your skin lets you know that you need to add more rest and relaxation to your daily routine. Make it a priority to include activities that give you happiness. Adding relaxation to your day should be as easy as going for a walk, doing some gardening, baking a yummy dessert, exploring yoga or doing some meditation. Like the old adage says, “take the time to smell the roses”, your skin and your sanity will thank you!
Protecting your skin against the damaging sun rays is a crucial step for healthy and younger looking skin. Apply daily a generous amount of a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or more to all exposed skin. Reapply sunscreen approximately every two hours and immediately after swimming or sweating. Be extra cautious when you are near water, concrete, and sand because they reflect and intensify the damaging sun rays. Seek shade when available and keep in mind that the sun’s rays are strongest between 10: 00 am and 2:00 pm, if your shadow is shorter than you are, find a shady spot!
Sleep and Regenerate
Mask Up
While you do so much to get your skin to look great in the morning, you really should start with the night before so you can have that “I woke up like this” moment every morning! The best place to start for your skin is getting a restful and a good amount of sleep every night. Your skin’s cells regenerate while you are a sleep so getting plenty of sleep is crucial for healthy skin. Try to sleep on your back and with your head slightly elevated to eliminate sleep lines and improve accumulation of fluids while sleeping. If you must sleep on your side, try using a skin friendly pillow shaped a little like a doughnut – with a depression in the middle. Using a satin or silk pillowcase which will help with skin compression and irritation.
Whether you use a store-bought mask or you use your own DIY mask, masks can deliver much needed hydration, clear congested pores and provide gentle exfoliation for a more radiant skin. An easy DIY mask to apply during the summer is a Honey and Milk Mask. This mask is rich in lactic acid which will give your skin a beautiful glow.
Into a bowl combine 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of buttermilk, 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 2 tablespoons of dry milk. Apply onto clean skin and leave on for 30-45 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. The longer you leave the mask on the brighter the glow!
Peel away Damage Enlisting a skincare professional is always a great idea for keeping your skin looking healthy and youthful. In the fashion world, trends are always on the move. Trends used to be in a cycle of twenty years. They would become popular, stay for a while, and then come back twenty years later.

Today’s cycle has changed dramatically. Through the numerous social media platforms, it’s become easier than ever for clothes to become viral. These viral pieces or viral styles are known as micro-trends. They happen fast and never reach their full market saturation. This is because of how fast they appear, as soon as a style becomes popular, another one takes its place. From TikTok alone there have been several micro-trends born. Think cottage core, dark academia, E-girl, even fairy core. Surely these styles have been around long before TikTok, but with the help of the platform it has reached millions of people. While these styles are adventurous and fun, most of the trends wont last. Before, the trend cycle would last 6 months to a year or even more. But now with the introduction of micro-trends, their lifetime is short lived. A piece you purchased could now only stay in style for a month or less. That’s why many companies are making the switch to become more sustainable. With Micro-trends comes fast fashion. Brands like Shein or Amazon are pumping out as many pieces as possible before they go out of style. All that production becomes harmful to the environment. Most brands recognize their ecological footprint and have been trying for years to lower it. What makes sustainable brands so important is that you can partake in trends in an ethical way. Below are some sustainable brands worth mentioning and what they are doing:

ost people dread the idea of the early 2000’s coming back into style. The infamous low-rise jeans, cami tops, even pants under dresses. It all seemed like a fever dream. Yet, against our wishes, those questionable fashion trends have made their comeback this year. Von Dutch has its grip on society once again! While most are excited to jump back into the past, few seem to question why the popularity of the style has started again. It’s no secret that the generation labeled Gen Z, have recently discovered the early 2000’s. But why bring it back? This is a generation that has always been connected. They have always had quick access to the internet, calls, texts, and social media. Gen Z set their eyes on y2k because it is nostalgic. This trend includes every generation, whether you’re a 90’s baby, 2000’s baby, etc. 58 AUGUST 2021 | MODELISTE
We all went through the pandemic and quarantine, and now people are craving simpler times. There’s something refreshing about the pieces that were popular back then. The colors and the patterns alone can remind anyone of their childhood. The candylike jewelry, Hello-Kitty everything, Juicy Couture, and the color hot pink! It all makes us feel so welcomed. It’s the kind of fun we needed after the year we’ve had. This is probably the number one reason for the enthusiasm over y2k. But of course, like any trend that comes back in style, it’s not always wore the same way. There hasn’t been a fashion statement quite like jeans under a dress…well not yet! But you will be seeing people mix y2k with a more modern flare.

I love to pole dance. You have so many talents, what talent do you wish you had? One talent I wish I had would be to be very flexible and an Olympic gymnast. Guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure is chocolate. Any travel plans this summer? My summer plan is to go to Iceland. What do you love most about Modeliste?
