WELCOME to the ISSUE
There is no getting away from the fact that 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for everyone. From those on the frontlines trying to keep us healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic to the uncertainties swirling around the U.S Presidential Election. For us here at Modeliste, we’ve tried to offer a place of refuge, escape, comfort and respite and above all inspiration. In this last issue for 2020, we’re closing out the year by celebrating the magic of the everyday and those women who continue to empower and uplift us all. This issue’s cover story – we asked our Cover star, Kate Bock, as well as our world renowned social media Influencers what the word empowerment meant to them. It’s so extraordinary to read such diverse and unique stories and definitions while also discovering how these entrepreneurial and innovative women have taken this time to reflect, pause and nurture their own creative selves. A powerful nod to the realization of what is truly important within our lives at a time when we need it more than ever. KATE BOCK Modeliste is so excited to have you as our December 2020 Cover Star, can you tell our readers a bit about you? I grew up in Vancouver, Canada and moved to Paris after High School which then took me to London, Milan, Tokyo and New York. I settled in New York and now live between there and Cleveland, Ohio where my boyfriend plays basketball. I love working as a model & now entrepreneur. I cannot wait to be able to tell you a little more about what’s coming up next. I enjoy sharing pieces of what I’ve learned along the way with my followers especially when it comes to health, wellness, travel, beauty and fitness. At what point in your life did you know you wanted to become a model, and why? I was discovered at the swimming pool by my mother agent at 12 years old and sort of fell into modeling as a young, tall, lean, gangly girl. What has been a highlight in your career and what lessons have you learned from it? The highlight was definitely my recent Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover - a total dream come true. I’ve definitely learned to be in this industry takes a thick skin, a tough work ethic and the ability to just go with the flow. Many opportunities come about or get confirmed last minute and you have to be ready to drop everything.
What do you want to carry into 2021 and what do you want to leave behind in 2020?
I want to be creative and share things I find beautiful and inspiring. The pandemic has sort of given us a chance to figure out what we love most when we’re locked at home. I’ve found I really love taking photos, sharing healthy meals and creating beautiful décor. And of course interacting with people virtually when it cannot be done in person. 18 DECEMBER 2020 | MODELISTE
What're you looking forward to most this holiday season? I can’t wait to decorate. I love the holidays and always put together dream mood boards for my house and try to create a really glowy, cozy, holiday mood. What are some challenges you've faced in your career and how have you overcome them? I think everyone goes through difficult times and dismissal in their career. Getting to a point where you realize that you can’t win them all and not let rejection get you down can really change your life. You have developed a large audience through your social media presence, in what ways do you hope to influence others through your platform? I love sharing all things health and wellness. I’ve got to a point where I feel like I have a solid wealth of knowledge and enjoy finding ways to share it in an aesthetically pleasing way. What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I went to French immersion school and speak fluent French. Although there are many joys in the world, what’re three things that make you happy? My puppy, Vestry, is an angel and the absolute best. You can stalk my Instagram to see why I say that. Work, shooting, being creative. Spending time with my friends and family (ideally on the ski hill!). What’s your favorite part about living in New York? I love that you can walk everywhere. I love that you can walk out the door any day with no plans and find so many incredible things to do. I love the energy. I love the restaurants. I love that you’re never alone. Are there any other categories in careers that you would like to explore in the future? I’ve been getting a lot more involved in the creative side of things. I’m really excited about some projects I have coming up; to work on them from day one and oversee the entire process from start to finish is exciting. I don’t want to just be seen as a model. You have such beautiful skin, can you share a skin regimen? The keys to skin success…drink lots of water, get as much sleep as possible, eat clean foods, be active and wear SPF!
In 2020, we spent more time at home than ever before - are there any hobbies or skills you picked up in quarantine? I definitely spent much more time in the kitchen. It’s been really fun finding ways to make some of my favorite meals but lighter and cleaner. What do you enjoy doing in your time off? Traveling, seeing friends, being active, spending time at home with my boyfriend. How would your friends describe you in three words? Kind, loving, Vestry’s mom. Tomorrow you can go anywhere, with anyone, and do anything - where would you go, who would you take, and what would you do? Go to Africa on a Safari with my boyfriend, Kevin. What advice can you give to an aspiring model? Show up on time, be respectful to everyone on set, listen, and do your research. What’re your favorite fall trends? Isabel Marant, everything, always. We know you have a great creative partnership with Ally Martin. Please tell us a little bit about that partnership. Ally & I met at summer camp as kids. We’ve been great friends for years and years. I feel incredibly lucky our careers have led us to a place where we can work together. We share pictures and inspirations all day, every day and completely understand each other’s vibe and aesthetic. It’s a privilege to work with such a good friend who is also extremely talented. We bring the best out of each other because we are so comfortable and push one another. It is such a thrill & honor to have worked on this cover and story together. We couldn’t be happier. What would you like to say to your fans? Thank you for all the love and support!! Most people are putting into action ways to help protect them and keep their family healthy during this pandemic. Things like wearing a mask, washing your hands more often and the constant use of hand sanitizer can have negative effects on the health of your skin. Here are some expert tips from board certified dermatologist Dr. William Schweitzer that will help you in keeping your skin healthy while implementing safety measures to decrease the spread of Coronavirus.

Refrain from squeezing pimples as this will only increase inflammation and can contribute to infection in the area.

Lorna Jane Clarkson Weighs In On The Activewear Revolution A business idea based on having nothing to wear to work out, became an instant global phenomenon. As an Aerobics instructor in Brisbane, Australia, Lorna Jane was frustrated with the boring and unflattering workout fashion, so she took a pair of scissors to her favorite swimsuit to discover how it was made, and so the first ever piece of Lorna Jane Activewear began to take shape. Since coining the term Activewear, Lorna has spent three decades learning, evolving, listening and leading the activewear revolution- even taking her sleek styles from the gyms to the streets. With the mission to empower you to live a life that you love through Active Living™ and the daily practice of Move, Nourish, Believe, Lorna has been hailed for her versatile, unique and innovative collections. Here, the designer talks to Modeliste magazine about the story behind this label we love and being an iconic pioneer in today's activewear boom. What is the story behind the creation of Lorna Jane? I started designing Activewear because I wanted to change the way women thought about being active. My idea was to create clothing that she could workout in but also wear in her everyday life so instead of exercising for just one hour a day she could incorporate being active into the rest of her day as well. I called it Activewear because I just wanted her to put it on and be MORE active. It all started when I was working as a fitness instructor in the late 80’s — think thong bodysuits, tights and leg warmers you know the look — I was designing my own outfits to wear to class and kept getting requests from the women to make something for them to wear too. Before I knew it, I was designing and sewing every night and all weekend so I decided to take a great big leap of faith, quit my day job and start focusing on making Activewear full time. Lorna Jane Clarkson has developed designs since the 1980's and continues to create inspiring styles to this date. Where does Lorna get inspiration for her designs? As a designer you get inspiration from anywhere and everywhere. You could be somewhere beautiful and understandably inspiring like the Greek Islands or just be reading a book or at your local shopping centre. You see something that sparks your interest, and it develops into an idea ... sometimes ideas come to you easily and other times it’s just Hard Work!!!! It’s not something you can turn on and off and is more the way I live my life than work.
What makes Lorna Jane so unique and different from other activewear brands? At Lorna Jane we focus on Active Living instead of a specific sport. We’re not a yoga brand or a running brand or a tennis brand -but a brand that just wants women to put on their Activewear and be active. We’re also about fashion -and we want our customers to feel just as ‘dressed’ in our pieces as they do in regular clothing. So we make sure we deliver on trend pieces that can not only take you from lunch to school pick-up but support you through your toughest workout sessions as well How would you describe the Lorna Jane girl in 3 words? Fashionable Feminine Active What can we expect to see from Lorna Jane in the months? (Latest launches, new styles) We Launch new collections every two weeks because our customers are always looking for new styles. In 2021 we will also be expanding our size range. We currently stock a size 6-18 Australian but in response to customer feedback have decided to add some XXL (size 16 USA sizing ) pieces into the range. This month we are also launching our first ever 'Shop The Look' concept store in Brisbane Australia. Taking retail to the next level, it’s essentially delivering a digital shopping experience in a bricks and mortar style retail space. Will Lorna Jane expand into other categories of clothing in the future? It’s not so much about expanding into other categories as it is that the term Activewear is evolving. We have seen the shift in the last couple of years as people become more acceptable to Activewear as everyday wear. With trends such as Athleisure and lounge wear really taking off. But this year with Covid birthing the working from home trend it has really accelerated this as people realise you don’t necessarily need to be wearing a power suit or be sitting at a desk in an office anymore. We have a 20 year + relationship with our factories and work closely with them to ensure sourcing is ethical, renewable and has limited impact on our planet. 40% of our range is made from sustainable material. Whether it be recycled plastic, renewable sources or low water usage products. We are also currently working on developing our own recycled fabrics that use less energy and water than most recycled fabrics currently on the market do. SOPHIA CULPO Tell us three things we might not know about you. Three things you might not know about me. One, I'm the youngest of five siblings, so big family. Two, I went to school for nutrition and public health. And three, I come from a very musical family and I've literally probably taken lessons in any instrument you can think of. I'm not saying I played it well, but I tried. What inspires you? I think it's constantly changing. Definitely, my sisters inspire me every day, and I think with 2020, my kind of theme this year, I really want to put myself in situations that make me grow. So, this year specifically the things that have been inspiring me are the things that scare me a little bit. What's on the top of your bucket list? The top of my bucket list is horseback riding through a vineyard in Tuscany. How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? That one is hard. Managing time between social media and my social life is difficult because they can mix pretty easily. But I try really hard to put my phone down when I don't have to be on it, which is definitely hard. But I do think it's super important to be present in the moment, especially when you're with friends and family. So it's something that I just try to put my phone face down, silent, and slide it away. With the new restrictions, how have you found ways to be creative? I think with the new restrictions, being creative, it's just really important to think about your actions and all the different ways, perspectives, that someone could take what you're putting out there. Social media is... you never know who's going to see your posts. So you really just have to be conscious and aware, still be creative and be you. And what inspires you, let that transcend through your page, whatever your platform is, but definitely just be aware and think.

What can we expect to see from you in the months we have left of 2020? My sisters and I are actually launching a line with Macy's, so that will be coming out very soon. So, we're really excited about that in 2020, been working on it for a while and super excited. What do you love most about the Four Seasons, Punta Mita? Oh, this view, if everyone could see it, it's amazing. I think it's... I don't know, I just love anything to do with ocean salt and sand...a Dream. How do you stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends? I think social media, Instagram, of course, following other models, influencers, my best friends. I have inspiration just from everyone, but definitely social media is where I get my tips. What's your ultimate beauty tip? My ultimate beauty tip is definitely hydration. My go-to look has always been just a super hydrated, healthy, glowing skin look. So for my editorial on the shoot, I did a really kind of , almost like a wet hydrated look, and I loved the Pixi Beauty Setting makeup mist. So even for my shoot, I wanted my skin to look super healthy and hydrated. So I used the Pixi makeup mist, which is a spray. You can do it before your makeup or after, and it just makes your skin look super healthy and glowing, so that's my tip. How have you been incorporating fitness into your daily routine? Incorporating fitness into my daily routine has definitely been more difficult this past year with our quarantine, but I think making it exciting is, it just makes you want to work out. So for myself, I did a little three mile challenge on social media during the quarantine, which just makes it fun because you're getting more people to do it with you. And it's always more fun to work out when others are doing it and definitely, I think if you get up and just throw on a really cute workout outfit... All the girls here, we were just in our Lorna Jane sets the other day for a fun yoga session and just feeling good, and wanting to look good motivates you to even work harder. If you could spend a day with anyone anywhere, who would you pick and where would you go? I guess this isn't with a celebrity or anyone notable. It would honestly just be my sisters, my best friends, and I've always wanted to go to Thailand. I think we would have a really fun time there. So I don't know if I answered that correctly, but it would be my sisters in Thailand.
What are three key ingredients to a good life? The three things that are the most important to me in life. I think, number one, definitely family. Number two, being kind. I think there's absolutely no reason to be unkind in this world, so that's definitely really important to me. And three, being happy, definitely being happy. Would you like to tell your fans anything? I think the way people have fans these days with social media, your followers, it's so personal because they really do see your everyday life. And some have been following me for years, saw me through college and there really is a connection there that's not standard for say if you're a musician or in the past. I think our following is so special to us. So, if you've been following me for years or even just new, I wouldn't be where I am, here, literally in Mexico, if it wasn't for you guys. So, thank you for following me and supporting me and always having my back. What do you love most about Modeliste Magazine? What I love most about Modeliste Magazine is that everyone is so incredibly kind and open and honest. This trip has truly been amazing. All the girls brought on this trip are some of the nicest people I've ever met; there’s a genuine kindness that I've felt from everybody on this trip. The girls here are so kind. Favorite part? I have so many. So my favorite part about the Modeliste Mode Around the World getaway, if I had to pick, would be our goodbye dinner last night on the Rock. It was beautiful, and we all put our phones down and we were going around the table and just answering questions, high, low, peak, pit of the day. BRITTANY SKY Tell us three things we might not know about you. Three things you might not know about me: I'm shy, but I have an alter ego; we call her Litany. I'm also spontaneous. And what's another thing? I am never on time, and it's something I'm working on, but nobody's perfect. What inspires you? I'm really inspired by travel. I love traveling. I feel seeing how people live in other countries, learning what their traditions and their customs are like, that inspires me. Also, family inspires me. My friends inspire me. Just people overall inspire me. So I would say travel and people. What's on the top of your bucket list? Any destination or anything you're looking to do? One of the things that's on the top of my bucket list is to get rich, okay? If we're being real. But one of the other things is, I kind of feel like I'm leaning more into purpose now and I want to do things with purpose. I want to take trips with purpose. I want to put more intention behind my work, because I've done a lot of cool things in my life, but I feel like that's the only missing thing and I'm starting to work toward that. That's the only missing puzzle piece, and I’m getting there. How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? Sometimes I have a hard time managing time; balancing social media and my personal life. It's really easy to get wrapped up in what you have going on your phone, especially because that's a big part of how I make my money. But I'm learning balance. I'm learning to put the phone down sometimes and focus on what's happening, be present. But then on the other end, I'm also addicted to it, because I'm like, "The hustle doesn't stop", and it's really easy to get caught up in seeing what your friends are doing or the people that inspire you that you follow. So I'm working on it. With all of the new restrictions, how have you found ways to be more creative, either with your content or engaging in social media? With all of the restrictions that we have now due to our circumstances, I have found a way to kind of get a lot closer to my followers and my subscribers. I was playing live sets on IG Live. I was answering questions that people, I guess, always wanted to know. I didn't know they wanted to know, but I realized that I never truly opened up like I have during this time. It's brought me a lot closer to my audience, so I'm grateful for that. And I've also grown a lot closer to my friendship group. A lot of us are in music entertainment and we've been able to collaborate on things, and I'm just so grateful for that. What can we expect to see from you in the months we have left of 2020? Are you working on any new projects or anything exciting? So what you can expect from me for the rest of 2020 is, I shot a commercial, which I'm really excited about. So if you see me, get excited. I'm also working on original music. That's something that's really important to me. Music is my first love and I feel like it's really easy for me to get distracted with everything else going on in terms of social posting and YouTube, which I bring my subscribers along on that journey too. I am really excited to focus on music and put together a project and a piece of work that really embodies who I am. I'm looking forward to that and spending time with the people that I care about. The holidays are coming up, so I really look forward to spending time with my family. What do you love most about the Four Seasons, Punta Mita? I love everything about this hotel. Honestly, I usually travel and I go off of the resort or leave the compound where I stay, but this place is amazing. Swear to you, 10 out of 10. I'm telling all my friends, "If you need to go somewhere and you want to travel, visit this place." The hospitality and service is really, really, really amazing. It's just a beautiful location. You have the beach right here. You can't see it, but it's right here. There are several pools. It's family friendly so if you have kids, there's a pool for that. The food's impeccable, okay? Impeccable. You’ve just got to come and see for yourself because my words won't do it justice. I promise. How do you stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends? Well, the way I stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends is looking at magazines and social media. I get really inspired by that, like I said before. I'll save or bookmark outfit ideas, or beauty ideas that I love. Someone might post about an esthetician or a beauty brand that I never heard of, and I am "Oh, I didn't know they carried this", and then I'll go out and buy it because I buy everything. I'm such a sucker for packaging too, by the way. That's how I kind of keep up-to-date.
My mom's really into fashion, so she keeps me hip to what's going on in the high fashion world. But I'm kind of like a high and low girl. I like to balance the boujee things at a higher price point with the things that are more affordable and that look good. But I guess I'm just following my own trend to some degree. I don't really believe in trends anymore. What is your ultimate beauty tip? So I have several ultimate beauty tips, but my ultimate beauty tip here in Punta Mita has been to use less; less makeup. So I've been using the Pixi blush and highlighter. During the day, this is, because you know at night I like to glam. But during the day, it's really, really hot and it's really humid, so I feel like less is more. And I just feel like it's all about skin. What people don't know is that blush can wake you up. So if you put on some blush and some concealer and some nice highlighter, you're good to go. But here, you don't even need all that. All you need is blush, highlighter. And even the Pixi mascara, I'll put it on my bottom lashes and I'm good to go. How have you been incorporating fitness into your daily routine? So fitness during this whole lockdown quarantine situation has been a really important thing that I've committed to. I've never committed to something like that ever. Well, I've never committed to fitness in that way. So I've grown to love fitness during this whole quarantine lockdown, and it's taught me a lot about myself. It's taught me discipline. It's taught me how to be strong, how to be calm and how to tune out certain things. And on this trip, we had an awesome opportunity to do yoga, and I got to wear Lorna Jane, which I love. It's very comfortable, it's very stretchy, and it's cute clothing. If I wasn't on this trip, I'm an errands girl, so after I go to the gym or after I work out, I will literally go run errands and I like to look cute doing it. And I really think her clothes are amazing and it's really great quality. So yeah, just being calm and at peace. And we got to do that here in Punta Mita. If you could spend a day with anyone anywhere in the world, who would you pick and where would you go? If I could plan a trip with anyone in the world, who would I pick and where would I go? If I could plan a trip with anyone in the world, I would have to choose like two or three people. So the first person I would choose would be ... I would probably want to go on a trip with Beyonce and Michelle Obama, because I know they're friends, and they're kind of in two different age brackets, but Michelle's the GOAT and Beyonce is the GOAT. And I feel like they're so private, but they do so much behind the scenes. And like I said earlier, everything they do is with purpose and great intent. So I would just want to see what their
other side is like, because like I said, I'm really shy, but when Litany comes out, that's like a whole other person. So I would like to see who they are. And I'd probably say, I would want to go somewhere in Africa with them, just wile out, have fun, and enjoy the culture. And then I would say, my mom is another person I'd love to travel with. When I was younger, I'd think it was boring. But now I'm older, I have a greater appreciation for her. So I feel like maybe the South of France. She's boujee, so something boujee like that. And then the last group of people would be all of my friends. If I could get them all together, like all of them on a big trip, that would be ideal. I don't know where we could go. We could go anywhere, honestly. Maybe Turks and Caicos or something. And we'd just have a party every day, all day. What are three key ingredients to a good life? I would say, knowing that whatever you're going through, good or bad, is a temporary feeling. So just be present in that moment, and look at your failures, or don't even call them failures, just things that you can learn from as learning experiences. And that's something that I'm still trying to grasp now, because I've been the type of person that likes to hold on to things that weren't going right in that moment, and it's not always going to be that way. You just learn, you adjust and you get better. And it's all about leveling up. So I feel like that is one thing. The second thing I would say is just don't take anyone for granted. Just with the circumstances that we're living in, you just see people go like that. So be present, again, and take advantage of your relationships. Like spend time with the people that you care about. And then the third thing I would say is, just grow with the times. I know it's really, really hard, especially with social media, but just stay with it, you know? You can distance yourself from it, but you just have to keep evolving. This is what it's all about. We're in 2020, baby, get with it.
What do you love most about Modeliste Magazine? What I love most about Modeliste Magazine, it just feels like it's female empowered. You know, I feel like there's strong females that work behind the scenes to deliver this amazing content. And I feel like that means something to me, because it hasn't always been easy getting to this level, especially working in the industry that I'm in. So I feel like just being able to surround myself with bosses, female bosses, is really, really, really inspiring. So that's been one of the things. I also love that they work hard and they play hard. So that's cool too. And they just create these amazing experiences where they bring girls together from different walks of lives and we get to spend time with each other and create with each other, get to know each other and even form a sisterhood. So I like that. What is your favorite part of our "Mode around the Globe" Four Seasons Punta Mita getaway? I guess my favorite part about this Modeliste, "Mode Around the Globe", Punta Mita experience has been meeting new girls. I feel like I know a lot of people in my circle, you know, in my field of work, but I feel like this is a whole new group, and everyone's been really sweet, everyone's been really, really nice. DANIELLE LOMBARD Tell us three things we might not know about you. Three things you probably don't know about me. I'm currently working on a skincare line. I feel like a lot of people always ask my ethnicity, so I am half Chinese and the rest is English, Irish, German and Austrian. And so far I've traveled to 15 different countries. What inspires you? Honestly, I think what inspires me is traveling. I'm a very social person and I started traveling internationally for work when I was 17. And through that, I just got to meet so many different, incredible people. And so I definitely draw a lot of inspiration from personal interactions that I've had with people across the world. What's on the top of your bucket list? The top thing on my bucket list would be to go ahead and launch my own product line and it's currently in the works. How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? I think that's probably something that every creative and influencer struggles with, but for me, I try to limit the screen time that I have. So if I go online to post something really quickly, I try not to stay on the app to really scroll and get lost in just seeing what everyone else is up to. I try to read books, watch TV, go outside. And I think honestly, the screen time app on your iPhone is really helpful. As a creative in a world with new restrictions, how have you found ways to be creative? I definitely think it's been difficult to navigate right now, especially for me. I draw a lot of my inspiration from travel, but I've tried to stay motivated and creative in other ways. So at home I just started experimenting more with cooking because that's a passion of mine. So just trying new recipes and challenging myself in that sense. What can we expect to see from you in the months we have left of 2020? In the months left of 2020, you can definitely see me sharing more of my product development stages for the line that I'm working on and hopefully some safe travel adventures. 102 DECEMBER 2020 | MODELISTE
What do you love most about the Four Seasons, Punta Mita? I honestly think the Four Seasons Punta Mita is so beautiful and amazing. Everyone that I talked to before coming here said this was one of their favorite resorts that they've ever traveled to. I think the staff was really nice in making sure that we felt comfortable in terms of the safety precautions they were following and the hospitality here is top-notch How do you stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends? I stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends, honestly just by keeping in touch with my friends in the makeup industry and seeing what new trends and products they have that they're working on. And honestly, YouTube.
What's your ultimate beauty tip? So my ultimate beauty tip to get really healthy, nice glowing skin is obviously just to really go ahead and make sure that you are hydrated all the time and that you're using proper skincare. One of my favorite things to use when I travel is the Pixi Wakeup Mist. It's so nice and invigorating, especially for long nights, like us, where we like to go stay up late, listen to music and drink tequila. Definitely goes all day and night and picks your skin up in the morning. And I think other than that, just making sure you're using really good skincare products that are natural in color. And I think also just making sure that you're using Pixi’s color products that match your skin tone. How have you been incorporating fitness into your daily routine? I try to incorporate fitness in my daily routine, even if it's just going for a walk outside or doing a quick yoga stretch or pose. I honestly love the Lorna Jane active wear that we've been wearing on our trip here because it's super comfortable and breathable. And I love the little heart that she embellishes on the inside of all of her pieces. It's really cute. If you could spend a day with anyone anywhere, who would you pick and where would you go? What are three key ingredients to a good life? Three ingredients to a good life - a positive outlook, taking everything with a grain of salt and I think just having that hustle mentality. Would you like to tell your fans anything? Yeah, I would love to say to my fans, thank you so much for following me. I know that a couple of you guys have been with me for a really long time and it means a lot to me. And hopefully you guys continue watching and supporting me in my next ventures that I have coming up. What do you love most about Modeliste Magazine? What I love most about Modeliste Magazine is Amy is just such an incredible woman and she really embodies a lot of things that I aspire to be. Fashion, the people that I'm surrounded by, and a lot of traveling. What's on the top of your bucket list? Definitely, skydiving. How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? They're both very connected so I try to make time for both things. My professional life is part of my personal life. There's a good in between..

With all the restrictions this year, I've definitely found a way to create content in my own house - something as simple as using a white wall, bathroom, kitchen, and just using my imagination a lot.
What would you like to say to your fans and people watching or reading this? What I would love to tell my fans is to stay positive, that you guys have my full support, and that better times are coming. Wear masks and if you can stay home right now. It's such a hard time.. I know we're all suffering. We're all going through hard times but what matters is that we're all going to get out of it. The sooner we mask and stay home, the sooner we'll get out and remember, better times are coming.
What can we expect to see from you in the months we have left of 2020? The rest of the year, I'm going to be working on my brand. I've had new collections coming out and I have a secret project I'm working on. So I'm definitely excited about that and I have a few more plans to travel around the world.

SONYA ESMAN Tell us three things we might not know about you. Three things that you might not know about me: I have lived in eight different cities all around the world, in four different countries. And I started making YouTube videos when I was 12 or 13 years old, in 2007, about how to become an actress, right. And another thing you might not know about me is that I'm absolutely obsessed with interior design and remodeling. I pretty much remodeled my entire rental house, top to bottom and enjoyed every part of it. What inspires you? As strange as this might sound, I think what inspires me most is my own mood and feeling like I'm seeing something new and coming into the day with energy and excitement, and wanting to create something. What's on the top of your bucket list? On the top? The one thing that's at the very top of my bucket list is probably directing or starring in a movie or a music video. How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? I think I manage time between social media and my personal life by really differentiating the two, and trying not to mix them together, as much as somebody would want to. And I used to do this a lot, but I've learned that if it's your job, then you kind of have to eventually keep it as your job because intermixing them, you're just going to end up working 24/7, and be on your phone 24/7. And that's not really the point of existing. As a creative in a world with new restrictions, how have you found ways to be creative? I think that right now with the new restrictions, everyone is actually becoming more creative because they're stuck at home. And the only thing they can do really, well, it's not the only thing, but I feel like I've seen people take on such a creative way of life. And I mean, Tik Tok is a beautiful example of that, people that normally are not "so to speak" creative, everyone's dancing and making videos, and editing them. Myself, I think that being at home and having all of these restrictions in place has actually made me more creative by being in solitude, and having to entertain myself more. 114 DECEMBER 2020 | MODELISTE
What can we expect to see from you in the months we have left of 2020? In the next few months, what I think you could probably see for me and a lot of my friends is, whatever happens, happens. I don't know, it's hard to say what's going to happen in a week, or next week. I literally don't even know what I'm doing next week. I think I'm going back to Mexico next week, I'm not sure. So yeah, everything is really spontaneous, especially now because you think you can do something and then boom, a law comes out and you can't do it. Everything is kind of ‘go as you will.’ What do you love most about the Four Seasons, Punta Mita? The one thing that I love the most about Four Seasons Punta Mita is, strange is the sounds, the smell of the air. It smells like really dense, fresh, fake grass. I don't know if that's an acceptable answer, but it just smells so fresh and tropical here. The air is incredible, and the sound of the ocean. I mean, it's just nature in general. How do you stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends? I wouldn't say that I particularly stay upto-date with beauty and fashion trends, but going on social media, I see all of these incredible women and men really putting themselves out there, and being creative with their style, and makeup, and beauty, so it's just everywhere. I mean, all you have to do is log on online. What's your ultimate beauty tip? My ultimate beauty tip is probably using the Pixi +C Vit Brightening Perfector. This goes on your skin before you do your makeup and I've actually realized you don't need to wear concealer or foundation with it, especially if you're on vacation or somewhere hot. It goes on so beautifully, it makes your skin look stunning all day and even. How have you been incorporating fitness into your daily routine? Recently, I've been incorporating fitness into my daily routine by putting on the prettiest workout stuff, right as I wake up because as soon as you wake up, if you put it on, and you look in the mirror and you love how you look, you're naturally going to be inclined to go work out because I mean, you already have your stuff on. And having beautiful Lorna Jane leggings and the sports bra is probably my number one motivator. If you could spend a day with anyone anywhere, who would you pick and where would you go? If I could spend a day with anybody in the world and go anywhere, I would take my little sister who is six years old to LA. She lives in Russia and we barely see each other. And I really want to be a good older
sister. I want to be a good older sister to her and take her to Disneyland or whatever she wants, and just spend time with her. What are three key ingredients to a good life? I can't answer on behalf of everyone. A few things that I think are essential to being happy in life is travel because things are disposable, but travel is an investment that you make that only makes you richer. And while you're young and able to walk and see the world, I think that's something people take for granted, and don't really do as much. And you don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money, but traveling is really, really essential, I think. And positivity and remaining receptive to alternative ideas, being receptive and willing to learn from people and not feeling like you know everything, and whatever, because people have so much to teach each other. And the third one I would say is really important is remembering that no act of kindness is ever too small. And you sometimes do need to just bring yourself back to being kind, like doing little things like telling a random stranger that their hair looks nice, and they're really pretty, because you have no idea if that's the most incredible thing they've heard someone say to them all year. What would you like to say to your fans, anyone who is watching or reading this? What would I say to anybody that is watching or reading this? I would say go vote please because I can't. I so wish I could, but I can't. So please do it for me, thanks. What do you love most about Modeliste Magazine? What I love most about Modeliste Magazine is the magazine is so different in a good way, in the sense that it's innovative and it's doing something that nobody else is doing, and the people behind the magazine are the most genuine and incredible people. Because you meet people working in fashion and I'm telling you, they are, most of the time, not willing to talk to everybody and be kind, and show you the world, and be accommodating. But the girls behind Modeliste Magazine are not only so empowering, but probably some of the kindest people that I've met. What is your favorite part of our Mode Around the Globe Four Seasons Punta Mita Getaway? My favorite part about the Modeliste Mode around the Globe trip that I was on in Punta Mita is meeting everybody and being a tight-knit family. Going to dinner, going to breakfast, going to yoga, doing all of these really fun activities together. I don't have a big family, but being with so many girls is so fun because getting to know people is fun, and now I've met new friends to go home to. Thank you guys so much for watching. How do you stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends? I stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends by reading online fashion blogs every day. Who, what, where? I follow people on Instagram when I like their style.
MADISON GRACE Tell us three things we might not know about you. Something people might not know about me is that I'm actually really silly in real life. I kind of look a little serious on my Instagram, but in real life, I love to laugh and make other people laugh too. What inspires you? Definitely, my family. They are such a good support system and they always have my back and they always make me just want to overachieve and do my best. They are definitely my inspiration. What's on the top of your bucket list? On my bucket list, I would love to go to Japan. It's a place that I've always wanted to go to. I think it's so cool, and I love sushi. It would be so great. How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? I try to manage time between my personal life and my social media life by just being organized and having my content ready to go and having a few photos saved. I actually go on my screen recording and I like to make sure that my screen time is low. I constantly check it to make sure I'm not on my phone too much. It’s really good to just reset and just take a pause, enjoy life. With the new restrictions, are you finding new ways to create content and engage with your audience and be creative? I feel like I have been trying to be more creative during this time, whether it's taking photos at home or even just around my neighborhood. I've been trying to put together outfits and find cool backgrounds. Is there anything we can expect to see from you in the last few months of 2020? Are you working on anything exciting? You can expect to see more photos on my Instagram and that's mainly what I'm working on right now. What do you love most about the Four Seasons, Punta Mita? I love so many things about the Four Seasons in Punta Mita but I really like the Lazy River. You can just float around and have a nice drink in your hand and just hang out with your friends. What's your ultimate beauty tip? I really like Pixi Beauty. They have a really, really nice Setting Spray and I use it all the time because it helps keep my makeup intact and I really love it. How have you been incorporating fitness into your daily routine? I'm really into Lorna Jane right now- I've been incorporating fitness into my daily routine by putting on a workout outfit when I wake up in the morning and just doing it and working out and getting it over with. Cause it's not always fun, but it's worth it. And I'm really into Lorna Jane right now. Their athletic wear is so cute and I love all their workout sets. You guys should definitely check them out.
If you could spend a day with anyone anywhere, who would you pick and where would you go? If I could pick anywhere in the world to go with just one person, it would probably be my sister. And honestly I'd want to come here to the Four Seasons in Punta Mita because it is so beautiful and I know she would love this. The ocean views are amazing and it's just so nice to get away. What are three key ingredients to a good life? Living a good life is just staying positive because life has its ups and downs and it's so important to just take a breath and reset. I think another ingredient to having a good life is having a good support system. Whether it's your family or your friends, I think that's very important. And then, third is just being healthy and living a healthy life. Drink your juice, work out, take care of yourself and live a great life. Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans? LIBERTY NETUSCHIL Tell us three things we might not know about you. I am from a very small town of 500 people called Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. My family is from Belgium and I eat chocolate more than any other food group.
What do you love most about the Four Seasons, Punta Mita? I loved the balance between jungle and ocean! Every morning waking up to go get my coffee took me from my ocean view room, across cement bridges surrounded by large trees, through dense jungle and birds chirping in the background, to the Dos Catrinas with a stunning overlook of the white sand beachside. This mix made the resort very unique and I can't wait to be back!
What inspires you? I am inspired by people who live unconventional, freely and seek to constantly evolve. I also find most of my inspiration in writing, poetry and music.
How do you stay up-to-date with beauty and fashion trends? I personally follow a lot of trend settersgirls like Bella Hadid, Rihanna and Kendall Jenner who inspire me on social media are where I keep up!
What's on the top of your bucket list? On my bucket list, I would love to go to Japan. It's a place that I've always wanted to go to. I think it's so cool, and I love sushi. It would be so great.

How do you manage time between social media and your personal life? absolutely adore being active on social media. I simply turn off my phone and put it on ‘do not disturb’. I have a nightly routine of turning my phone off at 9 and reading for an hour or so, which I feel plays into a healthy balance as well.
How have you been incorporating fitness into your daily routine? Working out is a very big part of my lifestyle! One of my favorite memories of our trip was slipping into the super comfortable Lorna Jane set and doing morning yoga in the palapa. Doing a workout first thing in the morning is key for me.
As a creative in a world with new restrictions, how have you found ways to create content and engage with your audience on social media? My audience has grown exponentially; and I believe it's because, now more than ever, they are on their phones, and they are paying attention to the creators who have intention behind their platform. Creating content that delivers a strong, optimistic mindset is what I love doing most. Engaging with my audience has been easier than ever because I feel like, for once, we are all relating to the same battle in one way or another. Is there anything we can expect to see from you in the last few months of 2020? I will release my last filter, RARE! I created three filters for Instagram stories after struggling to find filters that didn't alter my face (bigger lips, smaller nose, etc). It is so exciting to share these filters to the public because I feel like they really embody the females that follow me. They helped me pick the names; they feel beautiful using them and love the message behind it - it's a win-win for me. I felt all the girls gratitude, love for each other in a short amount of time, and true happiness. I was so blessed to be sitting at a table with so many talented, intelligent and innovative women.
